MagiQuest (Failed)

It would, but it will take some time to get. I was talking about as a stopgap.
I have a feeling we won't need it, but yes, it doesn't hurt to be prepared. Also, reducing their mass would multiply the affect of velocity.
Given that dominance can create as well, and velocity is a property of matter in this, we can probably use it to create, say, successions of high-velocity anvils aimed at our enmies, let alone what we could do to them if they came within our range...
It would be better to create something aerodynamic. Maybe add a spell that reduces friction to zero? But yes, that would be a fearsome spell. I have this wish to make a spell that'll efficiently end the world. Just so that we can say we can.

Anti-matter, while cool would only kill us. I have an idea for a disembodied mind(spirit?) that eats other minds to survive or a plague, but eh. I want a physical thing.

We could create something more aerodynamic, but a speeding anvil is sufficient for most purposes, and preferred for reasons of style. :D

If we need combat spell, matter erasure will work. It's simple and effective.

Add flight, extra senses and shield and we are good to go.

E: Really, greatest problem is mana costs. We can't use expensive spells in battle, it just won't work.

Most of above are simple, except of shield. Shield would have manipulation aspect for matter and energy, and would also have Mind for choosing what gets stopped. Also some EXP for duration

It would be fairly powerful though, stopping pretty much conventional attacks you can think off. Skintight, our clothes included.

Out of others, flight is simple matter manipulation, extra senses could be something like Mind+Matter or Energy to sense specific matter or energy or just Mind so we can sense sapient creatures while matter erasure would be just, well, matter and destruction.

Spend some exp for duration of first two and aoe and distance of third.

honestly, I think we need a combat spell that is less lethal at the moment anything we have is straight up meant to kill it's kind of cool that in this system it's harder to not kill a person using magic.

You want a combat spell? Have a bloody combat spell!

Hammer of Dawn(Energy, Manipulation x 4)

Fires down a gigantic, hyper focused beam of super condensed sunlight to destroy people, objects, buildings and oWOD Antediluvians. People will die when they are killed. Praise the motherfucking sun.

Requires an open sky to work, should be paired with a weather manipulation spell.

Or you could swap manipulation for creation and get Kamehameha. :V

End the Earth (Lvl 3, Matter/Energy, ManipulationX6, TransmutationX2)
Increases the temperature of a single region to the levels found in the sun's core and releases it, igniting the entire atmosphere.

Explode (Lvl 2, Energy, TransmutationX3)
They say that the vacuum energy in a light bulb has enough energy to boil every ocean in the world. This spell converts all of that energy into explosive force/Kinetic Energy.

Black Hole (Lvl 2, Matter, Creation/ManipulationX2)
Creates a micro-blackhole and forcibly keeps it formed, until it absorbs enough mass to become stable. Sit back and watch as it absorbs the Earth.

Convert Earth (Lvl 2, Matter, Creation/ManipulationX2)
Create a small mass of strange matter like those found inside quark stars as well as keep it stable for the spell's duration. Sit back and watch as it absorbs the earth.

wiki said:
This "ice-nine"-like disaster scenario is as follows: one strangelet (strange matter) hits a nucleus, catalyzing its immediate conversion to strange matter. This liberates energy, producing a larger, more stable strangelet, which in turn hits another nucleus, catalyzing its conversion to strange matter. In the end, all the nuclei of all the atoms of Earth are converted, and Earth is reduced to a hot, large lump of strange matter.

If we want nonlethality in a combat spell, why not go with daze:

daze (lvl 1, mind, destruction)
Destroys all of the target's thoughts, leaving them quite profoundly disabled until new thoughts form.

Hit someone with daze within about twelve seconds of them seeing something you don't want them to remember, and they won't have a chance to commit it to memory.

in other news, I thought of a very interesting level 3 spell:

Feed on Annihilation (lvl 3, matter, magic, energy, destruction transmutation x3, manipulation x2)
Annihilates taget object, turning it into pure energy, which is then converted into magical energy and fed either into the caster's reserves or a spell or ritual that they are casting.
+3XP into target size, +3XP into efficiency, +3XP into control
Cost 24
This would be utterly broken, and probably needs some extra aspects.

(Reasoning: Matter dstruction and transmutation, along with energy transmutation, to destroy the matter and turn it to energy. Magic transmutation to turn said energy into magical energy, and 2x magic manipulation to move said energy to where it needs to go safely.)

I was actually thinking of a similar spell, though for a different reason. The basic idea was to create self-propagating "spirits". I accomplished the creation using a Lvl 3 Mind/Energy spell.

Conjure Spirit( Lvl 3, Mind/Energy, CreationX1, ManipulationX9, TransmutationX3)

Creation to make a disembodied mind. Two manipulationX3 sets to grant the ability to sense energy and minds, as well as a manipulationX3 + Transmutation X3 to seek out and devour minds.

I think the mind would normally last as long as the spell does. I used the mind-devouring as a possible but distasteful/uncontrollable substitute to increase it's complexity and the time it could last. With magic, I could just directly create a spirit that fed upon ambient energy.

Well you probably want two creation aspects, oe for the mind, and one for the energy construct that forms its 'body'.

Why Daryl would ever want to createmind-devouring abominations is beyond me, though.

True, if the mind dissipates with no body, maybe add a part to the mind to constantly absorb light and remake it's body? It'll create a minor equilibrium that keeps it alive. Of course, we can always make it permanent via a ritual/enchantment.

1.7 Changing Conditions
Time for some spell ideas:

Sleep (Lvl 1, Mind, Transmutation)
Keeps the target in a state of deep sleep for the duration of the spell.
Cost: 2XP + Duration improvements

This is a basic spell to give us an extra action a day. The idea for this spell comes from soldiers in the active military who through the use of specialised machinery go directly into and stay in the deep sleep state without having to go through the other states of sleep that plagues the efficiency of normal sleep. This effectively halves their sleep time, while giving them the benefit of a full night's rest.

The spell basically keeps us asleep as long as it's active and then let's us wake. Given that average sleep time is 8 hr, it should give us extra 4hr of time everyday.
Doesn't seem very restful long term though. I will approve it though, but expect side effects if you guys start using it all the time.

Adaptive Analysis Engine (Lvl 2, Mind, CreationX2/ManipulationX4/TransmutionX2)
Creates twined sub-minds designed to adapt to any circumstance. One sub-mind acts as the main analyser, reviewing all incoming information and comparing it with past ones to deliver objective results to the caster. The second sub-mind analyses the performance of the main analyser and adapts it to best fist the situation.
Cost: 16XP

Basically a small bonus to any action. It basically works by turning to adapt any situation we expect. Say we're about to go on a social gathering, it'll read body language and our own emotional state. In a fight, it'll adjust to predict the opponents moves, and so on. If say, however we start fighting in a social gathering it'll probably take a short time to adapt before working properly.
I'm going to have to say no to this, it really doesn't have a clear theme, purpose, and is way to broad.

I tried that already, though I think that was more the spell's fault then the concept's. But rather then do all of that, it would be best to develop a spell that eliminates sleep altogether. For that I had that body manipulation spell, but Gear hasn't replied on that yet. (He said he needs to think on the aspects.)
Body Sensory Apparatus (lvl 3, Mind/Matter/Energy, Manipulation x5/Transmutation x5/Creation x5/Destruction x5)
Will create a sub-mind to simulate and monitor the body down to the molecular scale. This information allows you to control and manipulate the body while also predicting it's affects. This only works on the recipient's body while the spell is active.
Duration: Instant (Needs to be improved)
Range: Self/Touch
Area of Effect: One Target
Cost: lvl(2)+ elem(2)+Manip(5)+Trans(10)+Crea(20)+Dest(15) = 54 XP + Improvements
Fixed, and approved.
It would, but it will take some time to get. I was talking about as a stopgap.

We could create something more aerodynamic, but a speeding anvil is sufficient for most purposes, and preferred for reasons of style. :D
Aerodynamic would be better if you want to go supersonic and/or long range, but for short range work, a bunch of anvils are heavy enough that if you keep them just under the sound barrier, they're not going to tumble off course enough to matter. Especially if you're throwing a few dozen of them around.

It'll knock them out for a few minutes before their thoughts reform, leaving them with a killer headache, and will effectively eliminate about 5-10 minutes of their short term memory.

in other news, I thought of a very interesting level 3 spell:

Feed on Annihilation (lvl 3, matter, magic, energy, destruction transmutation x3, manipulation x2)

From what I'm reading, you're destroying the matter, then converting the now non-existant matter into energy, then converting that energy that does not exist into magic.

The Destruction Aspect means literal Destruction, as in Deleted from the Universe, Gone Forever, Can Never be Retrieved, Destruction. Though you could make a new one though. But whatever is 'Destroyed', is Destroyed.

This would be a Transmutation heavy spell.

I was actually thinking of a similar spell, though for a different reason. The basic idea was to create self-propagating "spirits". I accomplished the creation using a Lvl 3 Mind/Energy spell.

Yeah, this would be like building a clockwork hot air Zeppelin out of paper and cardboard, then putting it in the middle of a rainstorm. Maybe Mind/Magic instead.

1.7 Changing Conditions

A new week, and a whole slew of new spells to use. School goes as what was quickly becoming the new normal, which was A+ on everything. Studying goes easier than ever with the new spells, and your new photographic memories of all your school books and notebooks, mundane and magical, means much progress is made this week. Towards the end of the week, since he had a scan for a pristine condition Mustang near identical to his, he used his Uplink spell to remotely search the internet for anything related to it. Daryl did find several online manuals, repair guides, and videos for it, which he then scripted into photographic memories. (A+ for school this week, +40 XP, IEU upgraded to three trains of thought, now costs 28 Magic to cast, Regen now 37/day, or 1.54/hour, Magic is now 40. Photographic Memories of Manuals, Repair Guides, and how-to videos for a 2009 Shelby Mustang acquired)

Tuesday evening, after a rather boring study session, where Daryl finished memorizing the last of his school books and notes, his mother, Nicole, sat down at the table.

"Hey honey, you're looking a little bored."

Daryl paused before replying. "Well, I've been reading ahead," True, since he'd just finished memorizing all of them, "and I don't really feel like I'm getting much from studying them lately." As his mother collected her thoughts, he tried out one of his first spells that he'd never tested before.

*I know he's been looking rather bored studying the last few weeks, and he has been bringing home a lot of A's lately. Maybe it's just finally clicking for him, since he never used to bring home these kind of grades. And he did have that growth spurt over the summer, maybe he's just come into his own. And if he's not being challenged enough, maybe I can go by the school and see wha.......*

Nicole nods, "Well Daryl, I suppose if it's not doing anything for you, you don't have to stay down here and study. I know you've done plenty of studying on your own lately. As long as your grades stay up."

Daryl grins, "Thanks Mom, I don't see any problem keeping my grades up."

Nicole squeezes Daryl's shoulder. "See that you do. How about we play a board game? We haven't done that since before we moved"

[] Write in a board-game

(Reserved Study Action no longer reserved, as long as Grades stay at A+)

Daryl had made plans with Freya and Jason to hang out Thursday afternoon at a friend of Jason's dad who collects and restores cars as a hobby and a business. Several hours are spent hanging out while looking at his collection, reading some of his car manuals from throughout the ages, and listening to him lecture about his craft as he works on restoring a 59 Chevy for a client. It's quite informative and is a pretty good way to spend an afternoon.

Freya and Jason express interest in seeing Daryl's car, maybe even take a Saturday in a few weeks to have them all work on it. Maybe even tow it down to Jason's Dad's workshop to use some of the big tools.

Looking over at how their friend worked on his cars, and what tools he used, Daryl realizes that he's done things with magic that he couldn't do with his basic tools. He may have been able to fool his mother, but Freya and Jason know cars, and would be able to tell right away that he didn't have the set up to fix even half of the damage to his car.

(General Car Mechanic Knowledge gained, along with a good cross section of Photographic scans of classic cars. 25% of having a scan of any particular classic car. Daryl also now has a complete Photographic scan of the 2008 Shelby Mustang GT500KR, the same model as he is repairing)

Guys, what spells do we still need to fix up the car? Or are we done and can get to fixing it up? I mean I think we should up our magic regen to 40xp/day at least and that leaves us with another 37 xp to burn

@Gear how much extra kit would we need to acquire/fabricate for it to be plausible to anyone who had not seen the car's initial state that we had fixed it normally?

You can bluff it pretty well, since Nicole is the only other person who saw it in it's original state, and she's not a car person. She just thinks that it looked worse than it was, and that Daryl cleaned it up and banged the front end back into shape. I will say that you got a scan of Restoration Dude's tools, but you'd need a copy/fabrication spell to make them, then it may be a good idea to get another minor Matter spell that will allow you to alter the wear and tear on them to keep them from being recognized. Then copy/fabricate/repair the engine, re-attach all the electronics to it, do a couple of actions fixing parts for cash, so that you could just buy new wheels and leather for the interior, which you could then install with Freya and Jason without raising suspicion. All that would be left would be to fully restore the body, frame, and paint job.

Besides, it would probably be a good idea to learn how to use those mechanics tools if you're going to be restoring cars for cash, because people are going to be asking you mechanical questions once they find out you restored your car from a wreck.

Can't we just copy restoration dude's skill? Practising how to do stuff is so old fashioned.

Also, do intuition spells come under mind?

Preliminary plan. Criticism welcome. I plan on using always on to directly enchant Dominance of Matter and use it, by passing the need for mana cost. Once we do that, we'll also get the magic element and a bunch of new options will open. Then we can concentrate on buffing mana regen and capacity.

So, Not a lot of discussion about the vote. Not a lot of votes either. Just one in fact. Perhaps some motivation is required.

The end of Chapter 1 is fast approaching.

There, that should get something going.

You can copy skills with magic. And depends on what you mean by 'intuition'.
