    0.5b Concession Conversation

    It was with some rather awkward small talk during the walk to the food court, but once they got their food and sat down, it was time to get to the meat of the issue. "Look, just what is this thing with Chandra, because you act like you're dating her, and you've been a bit abrasive about it, but Chandra doesn't act like she's dating you. So what's the deal?"

    Jace puts his drink down and looks you in the eye. "The 'deal' is, we've been together since second grade, we're going to the same college, and the only reasons we aren't dating is because her parent won't allow her to date till she's graduated. Granted, mine won't let me date till I'm graduated either, which is another reason, but that's the way things are. We go to college, date, graduate, I get drafted, and then we get married." Jace leans forward, piercing Daryl with a serious look. "Are we going to have a problem?"

    [] "No, no. I just wanted to know what was going on is all."
    [] "No trouble from me, but you might want to talk to her parents and make it official, even if you can't go on actual dates. I know Senior year can get a little crazy."
    [] "Na, I'm cool with that. I'm not going after Chandra or anything, it's just that you two are the first people I've met here, and she's been friendly, and you, well, you've been looking at me with that death glare every time I've seen you. There are other people I know now, like Liliana, Freya, and Jason, who I talk about stuff I like to do with them, like baking, or restoring my car."

    I liked the first bit of that third option, but didn't really know what it was trying to get at.

    Eh, I was tired. It's going to be re-done for the update, but gist of it is that Daryl won't be hanging around Chandra so much, comparatively, in the future now that Daryl knows other people here.

    So until we have new element that would allow us to see if others are mages without reading their mind, some sixty updates down the road, we will refrain for using magic in any shape or form in presence of others.

    To be fair to him, this may be Chandra's plan as well. We haven't talked to her about it, in which case him being all entitled isn't surprising if she's all like "Oh yeah, we'll totally go to the same college and date." Now, I still want to slap the guy down, hard. However, my paranoia is tingling, as he's so very confident he'll succeed at pro basketball, despite the statistics for highschoolers making it. Is this normal teen idiocy, or does he have a little...help? (magic, I'm talking about magic :p).
     
    At some point we should ask Chandra about this too, something like, "So what are your plans for college" maybe.

    Edit: Oh! And we need to test our mind reading spell in a safe environment, mindreading our mom or something. That way the more cautious of us can be sure thst we can use it properly and not get distracted or something.

    Yeah, I don't disagree with the current vote, I just can't bring myself to actually vote for it. It makes sense for Daryl, and he just seems like the type that wants to get along with everybody. But...this attitude about him somehow being "owed" a person is just so, so ugh! It is going so hard against my feminist ideals that it hurts.

    Daryl shakes his head and holds up his hands in a placating gesture. "Na, I'm cool with that. I'm not going after Chandra or anything, it's just that you two are the first people I've met here, and she's been friendly, and you, well, you've been looking at me with that death glare every time I've seen you.     Jace shows a bit of surprise, then softens his posture and leans back a bit. "I've come off too strong again, haven't I?" He shakes his head, "I'm sorry for acting like a jerk, but ever since-, well, no matter. I know I get a little crazy about Chandra, but it's her story to tell. I will say that she used to be able to go to places alone when she first got her license." Jace nods to himself a bit. "Look, I'm sorry for acting like a jerk to you all week, you just kind of hit my buttons, stranger coming up to Chandra in her yard and all. You seem like a decent guy, can we just start over?"

    [] "Yeah, I'd like that." *sticks hand out over the table* "I'm Daryl."
    [] "Sure, but we're not going to have anymore death glare, are we?"
