[X] Call your new friends up and see if they want to hang out at the mall
-[X] You know what, if Jace's head is up his butt, then that's his problem. Just call Freya and Jason and see if they want to hang out at the mall this afternoon.

I really don't like this guy.

-[X] Call Jace up, see if you can't patch things up before your relationship settles into antagonism.

I don't like having people that consider themselves my enemy. They are so much harder to kill that way.

Also, what do people think of continuing to spend xp on student's boon for a while, along with the car spells? If we extend its duration to an entire day, and crank up the power some, we should be able to get more XP from magic practice, and make our conventional studies a breeze. Not to mention generally being more competent at any task we set ourselves to.

@Gear, how many more XP do we have to sink into the power of Student's boon to get another point of XP when studying? And what does it do to our conventional studies?

can anyone else think of ways of boosting our XP gain?

Student's Boon gives you a boost by essentially streamlining your memory while studying, and making you harder to distract, so you can't really make that any more effective. You can make it cheaper, longer lasting, able to be cast on targets farther away from you, and on a bigger area to cover multiple people.

If you want to get another XP from studying, you're going to need another spell. You can boost something else, like intelligence, or find a way to get more actions, like increasing your mental energy, so you don't get tired as easily and reducing your need to sleep.

And for conventional, or any other kind of studying, Student's boon will increase it's base effect by 100%.

So we should improve the spell again and make sure to cast it every day. Doubling the effectiveness of class time should lead to sky rocketing grades.

You missed another one here:
-[] Call Jace, Freya, and Jason up, you might need some buffers to keep things from deteriorating with Jason Jace, though you won't have much chance of making any big improvements with him either.

Yeah, let's try not to start the school year of with an enemy.

How about a spell that makes us better able to multitask? I'm not quite sure how we would make it, but it would be a boon if we could, say, combine our studying for school that we promised our mother, with studying magic... (Also we want student's boon to last all of the school day preferably; it isn't only useful for magic study.)

How would we go about making a spell to reduce the sleep we need? Maybe make one to make any sleep we do get be more efficient?

Thanks for the catch, have an XP.

This would be rather complicated, and would definitely require some sort of cognitive booster. Maybe something like Incomparable Efficiency Upgrade from Alchemical Quest? It gives extra trains of thought, letting a character think up to 8 things at once.

Incomparable Efficiency Upgrade (Lvl. 2, Mind, Creation, Manipulation 2x, Transmutation 2x)
Grants and extra line of thought, allowing an extra mental action for every action it's active.
11 XP

This would be the base form. Creation to make the extra line of thought, Manipulation to organize the transfer of thoughts and information to and from each line of thought, and Transmutation to change the lines of thought to be able to seamlessly work together.

It would be an ongoing magical effect, and since your brain meats can't handle an extra line of thought, it would need magic to work. Meaning that the base spell would only last for a minute or two, so it'll need some duration upgrading like Student's Boon. I'll also allow upgrading the number of lines of thought you can have by adding another set of Creation, Manipulation, and Transmutation aspects to the spell (7 XP).

Combined with Student's boon, it would be a powerful combination. Though I wouldn't recommend adding on a third line of thought just yet, you still only have one set of eyes and hands. Perhaps combined with a spell that allows you to make Eidetic Memories, where you could have perfect memories of books and your notes that your extra trains of thought can use to study while your main line of thoughts directs your body.

And there are simple Intelligence boosters, using a simple Transmutation to make yourself smarter, and a Manipulation aspect to handle the increased flow of information in your brain.

There are a lot of options available to you guys.
How would we go about making a spell to reduce the sleep we need? Maybe make one to make any sleep we do get be more efficient?
That is an option, sleep is mostly mental, so you can get away with a magically boosted 4 hour nap for a day or two without harm. Though if you guys want a longer lasting solution, you're going to need a full lvl 3 spell to magically deal with the mental and physical aspects of sleep.

I'm a little worried that we wont have a buffer, but I don't think any of our available friends will work for that purpose. I think this will clearly define Jace as either friend or foe, which will be important to know going into the first day of school.

Sorry for the delayed update, RL has been terrible this weekend. Also, give the people you care about a hug, because you never know when they'll be randomly hit by a bus. Or a massive brain aneurysm.

0.5a First Quarter

Daryl decides that it's high time he talked things out with Jace, man to man, and without any distractions. Since the only real problem between the two of them is Jace's over possessiveness of Chandra, it's rather fortunate that she's at that party with Liliana this afternoon.

Jace, while reluctant, does agree to hang out at the mall a bit this afternoon. About an hour later, Daryl is meeting him in the main entry way of the mall.

Where do you go for this conversation?
[] Go to the food court and get a snack to talk over.
[] Go walking around the mall as you talk
[] Write in

How do you start the conversation off?
[] Ask about his relationship with Chandra
[] Ask about the basketball team
[] Write in

Food should make him a little more open to conversation.

[X] He was direct with you when you first met him, so reciprocate politely: don't beat around the bush.

I don't think he's the type to appreciate a build-up to the topic at hand. Might annoy him if anything.

I have reservations about using magic for social unless something quite serious is on the line.

It is probably not yet the time to vote for this, but I think we should say something along the lines of: "If you want me to, I will refrain from romantically pursuing Chandra, but on one condition: You have to. You clearly fancy her, and if you don't muster the courage to tell her how you feel, the someone else is going to court her first."

Not those exact words, obviously, but teen dialogue is not exactly my forte (It wasn't when I was a teen either.)

As a teen I can confirm, being blunt but respectful tends to be more beneficial then not.

I meant that the choice of words would be a little weird for our character, being somewhat obscure and in some cases archaic.

I'm one of those people, the ones that get really wordy when they're nervous or are trying to watch what they're saying. So while the word choice is a bit strange it isn't too out of line for some people.
Well, It is pretty much what I would have said also, but unlike me, our PC is good at social.

I like how @Skewfiend phrased it, but maybe add something like. "It's not fair to Chandra or anyone else, even you, if you keep discouraging others from even thinking about pursuing her while doing nothing yourself." And maybe something like "While I'm not the kind of guy who'd go after someone a friend fancies, other people do, occasionally. (Particularly if you've alienated them.) Ultimately, of course, it's all up to Chandra. You don't get a say until you've spoken up and she's accepted you. Even then, she must have the deciding vote. Nobody should be able to make that kind of decision for anyone else."

Vote is currently tied between using magic, and not using magic.

The vote is going to go on for a few more hours before I update, so get to voting and break the tie.

I forgot to vote. How silly of me. I will continue with the paranoia and no fun of any kind.

Honestly the only problem I have with using I'm Just Sayin' is that Jace may perhaps have magic and notice. Which would be very bad.
