Magical Girl Quest - The Fire That Burns

If a move is world busting, I expect it to be at least 1,000,000 xp worth. Probably more. And it should take us a shit ton of time to learn.

Having a move like this just sucks the fun right out of it when it's so easy to get.

We will never, ever get that many EXP, though. Besides, we just grow fast enough to ignore such things as Planetcracker (x1,000 on the attack) or Starslayer (x100,000 on the attack). Spells with these Abilities would still outdamage us.

Plus, having the damage is one thing. Learning to use it properly is another.
I mean, if that spell suddenly dealt a billion damage... the first time we use it, we crack a continent in two or worse; Gaia will not be amused... and we will have to spend months learning how to control that amount of damage, if not years. The Spell would become useless if we just threw 4k EXP in it to have a nuke.

The fun in having large numbers is to know when to stop; we also have WoG that Juggernaut Wave does grow a lot slower than the rest; so if we wanted to train it upwards, that will take a long while.
Plus:
Edit: With that in mind, I doubt we have to ever go near that amount of damage.
Level 15 will push the damage to ~4mil, which should be more than enough for any larger structure or enemy we need to blast away.

For reference, Goddess Gold pushed Oblivion Awaits to lv20. If I did not miscalculate, this cost her 1,900 EXP.
She still got 10mil out of it, which is fine because no one deals more damage than her.

Cerys, in this installment, is supposed to be the damage of her team. And she is supposed to be special, which makes having these numbers alright.
(Do note that I am not in favour of ever bringing Juggernaut Wave beyond lv15, no matter what happens. Even this level is something we will only might need far down the line)

Edit: With these numbers in mind... what I do find excessive is Target:Army. Now that I think about it.
I mean, the damage alone makes it affect entire battlefields, what would we need this for?

The scary thing about Oblivion Awaits isn't is raw damage, but rather the fact that Goddess Gold has no limit on how many spells she can cast per turn and is so good at controlling how powerful Oblivion Awaits is that she can add a tiny bit of the spell to all her regular attacks.

So that her regular attacks carry the conceptual weight of Spells and can have a power anywhere she wants in the range of [weapon base damage, spell damage].

When you get to those levels of raw damage the thing to fear is conspectual bullshit. Also attacking second and shattering like a glass cannon.

I would think that Gaia rather wouldn't want you to remove enormous sections of her from existence.
Hurting your sponsor would be bad.

Juggernaut Wave is a lot like Goddess Gold's Oblivion Awaits, there isn't much point levelling it beyond a certain point.

If we ever get trapped in demon realm, might as well go all out for experiments since they're enemies of light.

This was about what I was thinking, yes.

This, however, certainly sounds enticing.

"Where is Thirteenth Hell?"
"Gone."
"...What? How?"
"Magical Girl."
"Oh."

We've got a whole three votes for a plan right now.
I'll give you guys a while longer on that.

In fact, we have four.
But I get what you mean... on the other hand, there were several days for people to object... and either no one bothered so far because they do not mind, or because they agree.
No need to vote when one agrees with the only option given, and all that.

Eh, good enough for me.
Vote locked in.

AN ERA DRAWS TO A CLOSE
Finally, you would get to test your idea of using your magic to heal someone. Honestly, it had felt like the world itself was conspiring to stop you from getting this chance, as soon as you were free for a moment, something else would need your attention. But now, sitting across from Morgan as she drives you to this 'retired' Enforcers house, you are going to get your chance.

You drive out of London for around twenty minutes, leaving out the forty it took to get out of London itself. Eventually, Morgan pulls into a gravel driveway. When you get to a gate, it opens itself for you, without any sort of electronics. Magic? I guess when you get to that age, you can care less. She slows to a stop by a small cottage, fields surrounding it, trees lining the edges of those fields. It felt like you had entered your own little world, there was absolutely no sound coming from the large road just outside. Magic again? You follow her over to the door, knocking three times before stepping back to wait.

It doesn't take long, the door opening barely twenty seconds later, a wrinkled dark skinned hand pulling the door inwards. You get your first good look at this farmer, and you have to control your reaction. He is horribly scarred everywhere and one of his arms is missing. You shake yourself away from looking at his injuries and look up to his impassive face. Must be used to that reaction. It's a little embarrassing that you were caught out like that.

He looks down at you with lukewarm eyes, wrinkles creasing under his eyes, his bushy eyebrows nearly hiding them from view. "You the newest frontliner then?" You think about his wording for a minute before nodding. He lets out a snort, stepping back and waving you in, speaking as he turns. "Startin them younger and younger I see." He tilts his head to look at Morgan. "I see what you mean, it's good you brought her over." You blink at his statement, but Morgan just nods back to him as you move through his house.

The walls are covered in dozens of knick-knacks and photos. In many of them the old farmer features, whole and healthy, surrounded by a group of similar looking people. His squad? You send a glance to Morgan but she shakes her head. No questions. You look at the dozens of skulls, fangs or claws scattered about the house. When you look back over, he is smirking as he looks at you through a reflection in a tiny mirror. Did he set that mirror up just so he could watch people do that? Clever.

He grunts as he waves to a knobbly table, the kitchen just as cluttered with things as the rest of the house. "Two sugars?" You nod, a little surprised he was able to guess and he moves over to his kettle. He twists his fingers strangely, a tiny waver of magic flickering between them and the kettle is suddenly full of boiling water. So that's how Karen does it. He pours everyone a mug, settling down on a very creaky chair as you take a sip. Mmm, good. You glance down at the table and chairs, seeing dozens of tiny little lines. Cuts? Did he make these himself?

He interrupts your thoughts after he sets his mug down. "First, you can call me Gilbert." You nod and he continues. "Right then, little missy here says you want to try out some kind of healing magic?" Your eyes move to his injuries involuntarily, but he doesn't react.

"Yes, I can heal myself somewhat, I thought it would be a good idea to see if I could apply that to someone else."

He grunts, flopping an arm down across the table, just in front of you. "Well, get to it then." You look up to him with slightly wide eyes as you shake your head.

"No--no, my magic is kind of dangerous at times, I wanted to test it on animals first."

He stares you in the eye for a long moment before nodding and withdrawing his arm. "Good, not stupid are you? Never toy with magic, otherwise it'll tear you a new asshole." He scratches his side with his one arm. "I don't suppose any of those lazy shits over there have bothered tryin'a teach you anything? Just leave you to get to it?"

You nod, surprised at his words. "Kind of? I got some basic lessons for my sword and hand to hand."

He lets out a loud huff, shaking his head as he leans back and speaks to himself. "What're you playin at Karen? This aint the time for your dickwaving contest." He continues before you can say anything. "Right, whatever, follow me." He grabs his mug with one hand, leveraging himself out of his seat with a long groan. You follow him out the back, moving along a fence line before arriving at a large wooden building, hidden from the road by the cottage. Barn? He leads you into it, moving through the dirt and stopping at a particular door. You see that it has a tiny flicker of magic in it, which folds inwards at his approach. He swings the door open, unveiling a horse. It's lying on it's side, breathing laboured as it huffs loudly.

"This is Stace, she's not long for the world now, I'm gonta put her down later today. If you're going to practice, she'll do just fine."

You nod as you step forwards, dropping to your knees next to her. "I don't know how well my magic works on sicknesses, does she have any injuries I can try it on?"

He lets out a long breath. "No, give me a second." He leans down next to you, doing something sharp with his magic before pulling back. When you look at that area, there is a very small cut in its side. "Don't worry, she didn't feel a thing, hardy thing she is." You nod as you bring your magic forth, focusing on how you heal and pushing it through your hands into the injury.

There is a small resistance, a tiny flicker of something that you crush as you press forwards, spreading your magic through the wound. You feel it working, speeding up the healing process and knitting the tiny wound together rapidly. You sit up, looking over the horse. She is still breathing, but she doesn't look any better than she did before. Maybe if I try her entire body? You send a glance back to Gilbert. "Is it fine if I try to heal her entire body?" He nods sharply, watching your movements with a careful eye.

You turn back, taking a deep breath as you gather your magic together. Alright, lets do this. You push forwards through your hands, absent-mindedly pushing the tiny resistance aside as you spread your magic through its body. When you are covering everything, you try to start healing. You feel the magic working, speeding up the healing, but it doesn't seem to be getting any better. The longer you try, the heavier it's breathing seems to get, breaths coming shallower and shallower with every passing moment. You lean back, looking down with confused eyes.

You hear a sigh behind you before Gilbert taps you on the shoulder. "It's alright, I'm guessin you heal by makin the body heal faster?" You nod. "Her body has already given up the ghost, 's just shutting down, healing like that won't do anything but make it go faster." He steps past you, gently running a hand down the injured animals face and neck. He closes his eyes. "'S alright now girl, you've earned your rest." He wavers his magic slightly, before you see the horse's breathing slow to a stop, passing gently.

You quietly step back out of the room, waiting next to Morgan. A minute later he steps out, looking a little down, but he nods at you. "I've got to take care of this, best you skadoodle." He pauses before turning to look at Morgan. "Don't forget to come visit, it's been too long." Morgan nods with a warm smile. "Bring your friend with you next time, I bet we've got a lot to talk about." You blink as Morgan gently tugs on your arm, leading you back to the car.

"Who was that?"

She buckles herself into the car and pulls out of the drive. "An old family friend, he used to take care of me when I was younger sometimes." She takes a right turn. "I guess you could call him an uncle of some sort?"

You let out a hum as you settle back into your seat, turning your eyes to the hedges along the roadside. "He felt strong."

She nods. "He used to be one of the strongest in the world, but his time has passed now. He spends what is left of his time relaxing and taking care of his farm."

Mmmm.

/LINE BREAK\

When you show up at one of the main bases of the Enforcers working on finishing off the clearing, you are greeted by wide eyes and whispered words. You ignore them as you make your way over to the commander of this section of Whales. "Morgan should have called forwards, I'm going to be taking care of the Scamp infestation?"

She looks up from her pile of paperwork, waving a younger woman away as she nods at you. "We got word, we'll be leaving this one to you, good luck."

You nod at her, taking flight slow enough for Daiyu to keep up. You fly across the sky, idly spinning or playing tag with Daiyu until you arrive at your destination. You float above them, looking down at the clearing. A cordon has been established to keep the stray Scamps from leaving the area, though the Enforcers have moved to a much bigger ring after you arrived.

You send a look at Daiyu as you extend your sensing range. "I'm not sure if you are going to have anything to do today, this is mostly clean-up."

She nods resolutely, still floating between you and the forest. "That is fine, time with you is time well spent."

You feel a little blush come to your face, so you turn away and focus on the area below you. Please don't say such embarrassing things like that. You distract yourself by forming a large Plasma Sphere, taking a minute to compress it as much as you can, before idly letting it fall from your hands. It slowly moves towards the ground, contact expanding into an enormous fireball. Man, when you are up close you don't really get a good view of just how big the explosion is.

You take the fires and spread them around your range, burning it hotter and hotter as you absent-mindedly rotate yourself, lying back on air and letting your magic hold you. You burn the area until you are burning the ashes of the ashes, not bothering to set down and investigate. If anything had survived that, there was no way you'd find it with your eyes. You'd just tell the commander to have a Scout poke through the area.

/LINE BREAK\

You set down back at base, idly scratching your exposed thigh as you think about what to do. Might as well keep going I guess? Not like I've got anything else to do. You make your way through the semi-crowded corridors and pop back into the commanders office, nodding at her as you enter. "Got anything else for me? I incinerated the entire place, you should send someone to check that I got them all."

She blinks up at you before shaking her head with a silly smile. "We've got one other problem here, a breeding ground for Rougnniks. They are all young enough not to be a massive issue, but we can't get too close without dragging them on a merry chase through the forest. If you could deal with that, we can finally move past that entire area without having to tip-toe around it." She lets out an 'Ah' right after she finished. "Oh, and don't worry about the Mother, it has already been dealt with."

You nod, accepting a map and stepping back. "Right, we'll be back as soon as we are done." You take off towards the nest, flying for around an hour before you recognise a landmark on the map and float yourself closer. Once you lock on to their heat signatures, a lot hotter than a normal creature, you notice they are all looking up at you. They all rapidly congregate beneath you, looking up at your distant forms with glowing yellow eyes. Ok, that is kind of creepy.

You focus down on them, gently heating the area just around them until it's a blazing inferno. They don't even try to escape the flames crawling over them, they just stare up at your stationary forms with hungry eyes. Ok, that is really creepy.

You make sure to incinerate the bodies before you float back to base. I've had quite enough of creepy things coming back to bite me in the ass. Do it right the first time.

/LINE BREAK\

You depart from the Welsh base a little bored and feeling slightly guilty about that. You were being a massive help to the Enforcers, it's just that their problems were just so simple for you to deal with. You literally spent more time flying around than you did fighting, if you could even call the extermination you did fighting.

You stop halfway to the next base to have lunch with Diayu, you find this lovely little bakery in a village you were passing over. Their pastries were amazing and the old woman who owned the store just extruded warmth from her every action. You are on your last bun when you see Daiyu staring at you imploringly. You break it in half with a sigh, passing her the other half and hiding your smile as you chew the pastry.

You tactfully ignore the cooing from the old woman in favour of enjoying your food.

/LINE BREAK\

You stop by two other bases that day. Only actually eradicating one other nest, everywhere else was pretty much done already. There probably would have been more to do a couple of days ago or so, but they had made a big push recently. All that was left was eradicating a few stragglers further up north.

You spend the time floating home poking your sword with your Aura, it flows into your sword easily enough and when you float down to test it on a tree, the entire thing bursts into flames rapidly. Huh.

At least we now know that we can heal others with our magic.
You really know how to actually make good side characters; we will probably not see that man again very often... but I still like him anyway. Even without ever knowing what kind of things he did, everything just fits.

Oh boy, even the people around us ship it.

Now... what else do we do?
Personally, I would like to get another avalanche of training done before we go kill the Peluda... and after that, I would like to return to the regular schedule until something happens again, interrupted by a little hike into Switzerland later.

So... basically...

[X] Go ask Morgan which Affinities she has; you never really got around to ask

[X] Thursday: Magical Training
-[X] Experiment with Flight and Halt to rapidly stop yourself before pushing off in another direction (in this manner) [work on Boosted Flight]
--[X] Do not go through with this if it hurts you too much; see if you can find another way to do it

[X] Friday: Magical Training
-[X] Examine what you did to hide your magic

[X] Saturday: Magical Training
-[X] See if you can make Alpha and Omega stop consuming your own magic
--[X] On that note... maybe you can make it stop attacking your allies, too? Start small, see if you can stop it from hurting Daiyu; see if you can do the same thing with Ignition Aura

[X] Sunday: Magical Training... sort of
-[X] Practice summoning swords and levitating them around you; focus on speed
--[X] See how many you can levitate at the same time
--[X] Try to make a fast creation and have it shoot forwards to impale a target instead of making it appear in your hand
--[X] Make other formations with several Infinity Edges and see if you can attack with them
-[X] You have Reinforcement; try to apply it in one strong burst instead of a constant stream [get damage spike]

Okay... this seems to wrap up all the rather important topics I have on my list, or at least those in reach. I left most of those to take up most of the respective day because they are pretty important.
The part about stopping our auras from attacking allies is mostly so Cerys herself finds out Daiyu is unaffected, by the way.

Did I forget anything? Additions, thoughts?

I don't know... I really don't want to train until we get some more work done and don't mean that cake walk of clearing the nests. We haven't necessarily slacking but it feels like we're starting to get behind what we're supposed to do.

Rukia, did you ever have a report about the Peluda for Cerys to see? Or is this thing a complete unknown to the enforcers in the area?

But... we do not have any more work at the moment.
The Peluda is something we can do because just so; Karen is happy to leave it be until it starts bothering the people. The reclamation of England is... basically done and no longer available for us, either.

Those legends are a hobby, not something we are required for or were asked to do, at least not now.

Basically, we are at a point where we can just say okay and go back to timeskipping if we want.

Quest Commander Downy, finally caught up with the quest.

[X] Naron

Until I get home and can think, Training for the inevitable boss battle seems like the best plan right now. Until we can prove that we can beat the next Monster-of-the-Week, we're going to have to train to prepare for each major battle. Just to much risk going for any new monsters without week long prep, Even if we are a magical girl.

You said we'd get back into a regular training schedule interrupted by a hike to Switzerland, but what about Dragon Mountain? I'm honestly more interested in that than the Switzerland thing.

Good point, I forgot about that one.
I guess we can just spend one more day on the mountain after the Peluda and before going back to the regular schedule, if no one minds.

It will probably not be a fight over there, so we should be fine.
