Loyalty is its own Reward (A Traitor Legion Chapter Master Quest)

I find it odd too but I don't want to anger allied forces, especially ones that actually like us. A part of me thinks its their pride and honor as servants of the Omminisiah demanding they face their heretek brothers but they could be using risky technology.
Oh yeah definitely. Its one of those "This is odd but I'm not going to do anything about it just yet." kind of situations

The Pious Brothers
The Pious Brother

Amery knelt in quiet contemplation, the small chapel was silent as the grave and the shadows seemed to cling to every surface of the elaborately decorated interior. The chapel was built in he style of the Luctusians, above him was a dome richly decorated with scenes of the glorious legends of the Emperor. Of Him On Terra, surrounded by his nine sons all bathed in glory, facing off against Greater Daemons and their damned followers.

He was alone, with nay even a serf or one of his brothers to share his presence. Since the beginning of the Yerma campaign the halls of the Fortress Monastery were emptier, emptier of his brethren at least, and he knew in his soul that it would remain emptier for some time after they returned. As the Emperor had willed, as the Emperor had desired. He found he liked his isolation, though he liked to consider himself dutiful and courteous, social interaction was not his strong suit and he preferred the comfort of his miniatures or meditative prayer.

He knelt, quietly contemplating the designs of the One God, quietly repeating an old mantra he distinctly recalled hearing but couldn't for the life of him recall from where. He is the Emperors slave, all are slaves to the Emperor, there is peace in submission, there is futility in opposition, for all are bound to the fate he has written. He is the Emperors slave, all are slaves to the Emperor, there is peace in submission, there is futility in opposition, for all are bound to the fate he has written. He is the Emperors slave, all are slaves to the Emperor, there is peace in submission, there is futility in opposition, for all are bound to the fate he has written.

On and on and on he went, repeating himself over and over and over, he found it was… peaceful. It kept his mind occupied and away from ugly thoughts. Thoughts of what was occurring in distant Yerma, of one of the greatest campaigns his young chapter had ever experienced, of the countless men and women dying to bring the world to heel, of how he was made to hunt wretches while they were fighting their traitor cousins.

The Emperor had ordained this, he had to remember, the Emperor had ordained this and thus there was no fighting it. Fate had ordained he was to fight here while they were dying there. It was fate, and that was all there was too it.

Albon heard someone enter the chapel, and he rapidly got up and spun to meet them. It was one of his brothers, a Luctusian by the name of Stanislaus. Amery stared for a moment and the Luctusian starred back, before the man opened his mouth to speak.

"Praying alone, would you mind if I joined you?" the other marines asked, Amery continued to stare in silence for a moment, before he finally gave his answer.

"Fine." Amery answered, before the room descended into silence and the two began to stare at each other again. Amery then turned back to his original position awkwardly, and the other marine soon knelt beside him. For a while afterwards, the two knelt in almost silent prayer, before Amery began his mantra once again.

He is the Emperors slave, all are slaves to the Emperor, there is peace in submission, there is futility in opposition, for all are bound to the fate he has written.

On and on and on and on it went, before his mantra was broken by a question.

"Why do you view yourself as the Emperors slave?" the man beside him asked, Amery turned to the marine, a look of curiosity marked on his face. Amery debated whether or not to answer, he knew his own faith was different from many here and didn't feel like a debate, but he went for it regardless.

"Because it is the truth, everything in the galaxy has its fate written by the Emperor, from the loyal to the traitor, to the great and small. It matters little, all are slaves to the fate the Emperor has ordained." Amery answered, a touch of zeal entering his usually flat voice. The man starred for a moment, before turning back to his own prayers. Leaving the room in near silence. Before on a whim, Amery made to speak.

"What are you praying for?" he didn't know why he asked and regrated it the moment it left his mouth. The other marine paused his prayer and turned to him, seemingly debating giving his own answer. Before he began to reply.

"I… have a brother, a brother by blood, younger one who is serving in Yerma right now. I am praying to the Emperor to beseech him to preserve his life and bring us victory." The marines face was perfectly neutral as he said what he said. Amery pondered the answer for a moment, before answering himself.

"If the Emperor wishes it, it shall be." Amery replied, not being able to think of a better response. The other marine grunted in reply.

"And if he doesn't?" the marine asked.

"Then rest assured he will die doing his duty and there is no better death." Amery answered.

The marine nodded, before returning to his prayer, and Amery did the same.

They prayed together for sometime.

Of Him On Terra, surrounded by his nine sons all bathed in glory, facing off against their traitor kin who threw in their lot with demiurges and warp entities.

Small nitpick, according to "Imperial History™" Traitor/Daemon Primarchs aren't Primarchs but "Primarch-like (Greater) Daemons"

Hey guys so I don't burn myself out with Quintus or write myself in a corner going back to my past time of planet making this time a winter planet thoughts of culture or a blend of cultures I should rip-……I mean inspired by.

Maybe Scandinavia? We don't really have one of those outside the Knight World and Carolus. Maybe base them off the post Viking Scandinavians? Finland or Norway maybe.

You should make an absolute mess of a planet based off the Holy Roman Empire.

Isn't that what the imperium is? But if you want it I'll see what I can whip up but my ADHD hyper fixation is on this Finnish planet so give me a few
I meant the absolute border gore side of it. Like how an actual map of the HRE was, a couple dozen states in one spot here, a big state there, etc but on a planet wide scale.

Still, Tatsuya had learned to keep his mouth shut, take it and do everything they ordered as best as he could, as the one time he had asked for clarification on a order his sergeant had given him the ugly bastard had beaten him so viciously that he had spent the next four days pissing blood.
For this one ThunderOwl is it supposed to be interpreted as "his sergeant had given him, but instead the ugly bastard had beaten him..." with a comma in-between the him and but?

It is good that we have a POV of what is happening outside of the Campaign proper, and it gives a deeper look into Amery that is interesting. Canonized, and you get +100XP to one Captain in the stat of your choice.
So who has the overall command in the battles
On paper, due to all organization being independent from one another, nobody. On practice overall chain of command is determined by experience, number of forces under their direct command and prestige/influence. Severus is in overall command of the Campaign due to being the only Chapter Master present, his role in making this campaign a reality and bringing two companies and a half.

After Severus it would be a four-way tie between Secutor (Could be considered as Severus successor due to being a 1st Company Captain equivalent, even if the Mist Shrikes Succession doesn't work that way), Olin Defer (Second biggest Astartes contingent), De Lusignan (1st Company Captain and most experienced of the Astartes apart for Severus) and General Mörner (Biggest amount of forces over all). After then it would be the other Astartes Captains (Kraiputra, Gallienus and Irrin Defer, in that order), then the Master of Skitarii, then Ríona and finally the individual regiment Colonels. The Inquisitors are in a weird place in that they could technically give orders to everyone but they are not battlefield commanders and unless they work in unison (which they won't) they just deadlock each other.
Forgot to put the order part in there.
It is there.

"Still, Tatsuya had learned to keep his mouth shut, take it and do everything they ordered as best as he could, as the one time he had asked for clarification on a order his sergeant had given him the ugly bastard had beaten him so viciously that he had spent the next four days pissing blood."

I imagine in the void Mörner gets replaced by the admiral and De Lusignan is removed because he now only commands a single escort.
