As i said before, any new STC we find should go into our world, gain the sub sector or whole sector as our holding. and if Sofia wants a forge world, let her have one

I would rather she be given a world to turn into a DAoT-style Forgeworld. So looks beautiful while being nice to live on and yet is still capable of outproducing multiple modern Mechanicus Forgeworlds trivially.

Unless it has several nice beach resorts full of supermodels playing volleyball, that would be a paltry reward for our contributions.

...What!? I like paradise worlds, I don't know why Games Workshop always glosses over that part of the lore. Are you telling me that wouldn't be the perfect fantasy for someone who lived in a Hive World for their entire life?

Why can't it be a Paradise World and a Forgeworld at the same time? The DAoT was capable of it, easily.

If we get enough STC's and Mechanicus support, we can easily do it too.

Guys i can't wait to see our brother reaction( cope harder buddy because you know your single action is the biggest thing for our current success), and to see how much our father will gain with our marriage because i'm 100% sure that male and female mechanicus will try to woo and court us, because well we are a damm saint that is a noble and to top that discover soo many new STCs is the decade that is not even funny

Only if they can keep pollution from going out of control. Otherwise, the two are completely paradoxical to each other. Especially with the Imperium.

Honestly, you would think the Emperor would have made a living being a historian who kept track of technological advancements better.

That's at least partly due to the mechanicus, in order to secure the alliance he had to play by their rules regarding making new tech, teaching science, and stc distribution. While he was active it wasn't a huge problem because like 90 of planets were too primitive to be worth protecting from them, and the ones that were worth the effort he, malcs, or the primarchs could finagle through via transhuman shenanigans and general authority. Without them the red robes kind of strangle a lot of stuff.

So just need to spam Forge-Temples to get bonuses for repairing our STC's, instead.

I think we got around... four turns before we reach the 30 limit for our tech priests. We will need to build that sooner or later. The problem is that we need to finish our luxurious housing for our security, a new training facility, yet another maintenance facility, and more fortifications.

That is not even going into production issues that could remove how much dice we can contribute to the construction of several projects.

PDF making war in the under hive
PDF making war in the under hive

Bill was a soldier in the PDF, assigned to the task of clearing out the underhive of gangs. As he and his unit made their way through the maze-like tunnels of the underhive, Bil couldn't help but feel a sense of unease. He had heard stories of the dangers that lurked in the underhive, and he knew that they were facing an uphill battle.

One of the biggest challenges facing the PDF unit would be distinguishing between friend and foe in the chaos of the underhive. They would need to work closely with local law enforcement agencies and the Adeptus Arbites to identify and target the most dangerous gangs, while avoiding innocent civilians caught in the crossfire.

Bill was a veteran of many battles, but he had never encountered an environment quite like this. He was use to the upper Hive and is wide streets and clean air. The tunnels on the other hand were dark and claustrophobic, and the air was thick with the stench of decay and filth. The sound of gunfire echoed off the walls, punctuated by the occasional explosion.

Bill's unit was moving slowly and cautiously, checking each corner and doorway for signs of danger. The unit was made up of soldiers from different regiments, but they had all been trained in the same tactics and protocols. Bill was impressed by the discipline and professionalism of his fellow soldiers, who worked together seamlessly despite the challenging conditions.

As they moved deeper into the underhive, Bil and his unit encountered a series of obstacles and setbacks. They had to fight their way through barricades and booby traps set by the gangs, and they were ambushed several times by groups of heavily armed gang members. Bill himself was wounded in one of these skirmishes, taking a glancing blow from a lasgun that left a smoking hole in his chest plate.

Despite the setbacks, Bil and his unit pressed on, determined to complete their mission. They cleared out entire sections of the underhive, neutralizing the gangs and destroying their bases of operations. Bil was struck by the resilience of the gangs, who fought back fiercely even when it seemed like all was lost.

As the mission wore on, Bill found himself growing increasingly weary and frustrated. The underhive seemed to stretch on endlessly, and every victory seemed to be followed by another setback. But he knew that he had to keep pushing forward, for the sake of his fellow soldiers and for the Imperium of Man.

Bill would seen the horrors that these gangs inflict upon the people of the underhive. They deal in drugs, weapons, and slavery, preying upon the weak and vulnerable. They are a blight on this world, and it is his duty to rid it of their presence.

Finally, after weeks of fighting, Bil and his unit emerged from the underhive, victorious but battered and bruised. They had succeeded in their mission, but Bil knew that the fight against the gangs was far from over. He resolved to continue the fight, wherever and whenever it was necessary, for the sake of the Imperium and all those who called it home.

Being Put Through Your Paces
Being Put Through Your Paces

"Zap Nickel! How many times do I have to tell you, to stay in your Emperor-damned position?!" Roared Sergeant Rusticus over the Comm-net.

"Now pay attention, this is uncharted territory that we're about to enter." The Sergeant continued with a calmer tone.

"Sorry Sir!" Responded (now) Corporal Terrence Zapankel. "Won't happen again!"

"Make sure that it doesn't."
He grumbled before closing the line.

Terrence couldn't help but wince from the rebuke. This was not the first time that Terrence had been verbally disciplined for falling out of formation during their march into the uninhabited sections of the Deep.

He still felt mildly giddy from having equipment that in any other time, wouldn't have been seen anywhere close to someone like him. It felt so empowering.

Like the missing link between Man and Machine, that didn't require replacing parts of your body to use.

But that line of thought was currently no longer relevant in this situation. They had a job to do and they were entrusted with the resources to see it done.

He thought back to the briefing they had before mustering out on the first expedition beyond the safety of the compounds walls. How they were informed on the possible dangers from the local 'wildlife' (which looked more like something out of a madman's nightmares) and even a techno-horror straight from Humanities ancient past, in the form of an Abominable Intelligence.

Seriously! There's only so much you can take after hearing your Tech-Instructor constantly rant about how evil it was and it being an "Affront against the Omnissiah!". You would shoot it on principal alone if it meant getting Zeera to shut the frack up about it.

But that was neither here nor there. It helped that you weren't sent into that combat theater and instead sent out for exploration.

Now if only you didn't feel as if you were being watched and even stalked, despite your (and your squads) sensors not finding anything out of the ordinary.

It didn't alleviate the tension you were feeling after you got a negative reading for life-signs, that weren't your fellow troopers, in the surrounding area.

Then you saw it. The entry way into the next zone. The one you were currently in, didn't seem to have anything of interest so after a standard sweep & clear, it was declared 'secured'.

"Corporal. Take your men and scout out these coordinates. Report anything you see and once that is done, return to base-camp and restock on supplies and power." The Sergeant ordered them on the Command Circuit. "Avoid any combat and retreat when necessary." He continued.

"Sir, yes Sir." Terrence replied. There wasn't anything else to do except wait for base-camp to be setup, so this was a welcome development.

Plus it saved them from doing the boring scut-work of also setting up a forward operating base as a jumping off point into the next Zone.

Moving quickly and relatively quietly, they went beyond the gate and saw that they were on a massive overhang that looked out on a vast expanse.

Terrence saw through the inbuilt monoculars, a variety of structures that might have stuff to salvage and even repurpose if the Techies at home chose to go this far out. He also saw how many bodies of water were lying around and in some of them, a number of extremely large ripples could be seen moving around under the surface.

...

Nope. Nopenopenopenopenopenope! All the NOPE! He lacked experience around large bodies of water due to being a native of the middle Hive, but he didn't expect to find out he had (what he learned later on was) a severe case of 'Thalassophobia'.

It didn't help that even with the light magnifiers and multi-spectrum image enhancers, he couldn't penetrate the surface of the water. Thus making it look bottomless.

He was then distracted by one of his squadmates, Private Jenkins who had a discovery to share.

"Hey guys! Look! There's a stairwell and an elevator that still seems to be functional in this building right here. It should help us get down to the lower levels." Jenkins reported excitedly.

'Neat.' Was all Terrence could think of. And highly convenient because it served as a distraction from having to look at what lay below them. Even if it also proved to be what allowed them and the rest of the Expedition force to go deeper into the Zone.

"Alright, by the book. I want a clean sweep of the building to make sure that no unwanted surprises pop up." Terrence spoke.

"Alenko! Frost! You take point while Zimmerman watches our six. Jenkins! Catalogue any of your findings and look for a map while you're at it. That would make things easier on us."

Then began their search. The lowest levels were flooded as they saw from the top of the stairwell but from the middle of the building, they connected to the other buildings through enclosed causeways.

It was here that they found some things. Things that would be the discovery of a lifetime in any other situation. They might still have been even.

"Hey Terrence! Come over here! I found some rooms that are still sealed. Looks like they are still in good condition after all this time." Jenkins called out and proceeded to pique his interest.

"Can you get the doors open?" Terrence asked?

"Maybe. The coding on the door's access cogitator is strange and despite the good condition of the interface, it doesn't seem to want to respond to my queries." Jenkins continued.

"But didn't you get lessons from Adept...Amarkis, was it? Ones that let you gain access to stubborn Cogitators if we ever ended up in a situation where no Tech-Priests could provide tech support?" Terrence continued.

Jenkins gave him an annoyed look.

"First, it's Tech-Priestess Amarkis-Beta 0334 and secondly, that's a little bit of an exaggeration. She only let me bum a few lessons because I pestered her for long enough and because both our bosses are chummy with each other. Otherwise, she would have turned me into a Servitor and that would have been the end of that."

"Oh..."
Terrence didn't know what to say.

"Yeah, 'Oh'." Jenkins just smirked at his reaction.

"So how will we open it then?" Terrence said while hoping for a solution.

"Through the 'Rites of Percussive Maintenance' of course!" Jenkins exclaimed excitedly.

...

Terrence could only stare.

"Right..." Terrence drawled. Jenkins then scoffed.

"Oh wipe that look off your face. It might not be as simple as I described it, but it's still workable with what we have. So will you help me?"

Terrence couldn't help but sigh. "Sure. I'll help."

"Good. Then grab on to the panel and pull it out from the top of the screen like a lever."
Jenkins told him.

And that's how Terrence spent the next five minutes helping Jenkins access the rooms. By literally 'Hacking' into the cogitator and then severing the connection with their combat knife.

Miraculously, it worked and after ignoring how smug Jenkins looked, they entered the rooms while calling back the rest of the squad.

It was then that they realized that they hit the jackpot.

"Sergeant Rusticus. You might want to come down here. You would not believe what we found." Terrence sent through the comm relay held by Frost.

*Brrzt**Static**Brrzt*

Must be interference from the building or the rooms. At least the doors were open to let a signal through.

Terrence was pointedly ignoring how if he was using an Imperial standard comm bead or vox caster, then no signal would have been able to be sent or received. He did not want to imagine being stuck in the dark without being able to even call for help.

Half an hour passed and soon Rusticus entered the room to join them.

"Did you find it?" The Sergeant asked.

"Oh we found it alright." Jenkins couldn't help but say.

Terrence just laughed while everyone else grinned with glee.

ONE YEAR LATER

"OH, WHAT THE FUCK!!!" The Lord and Master of his demesne, Sabutai Torus, yelled out in shocked frustration.

Apparently Terrence wasn't the only one getting put through their paces.

Now let's see how they both navigate life's little (or not so little) curve-balls...

Authors Note:
1. @EA250 I hope you don't mind that I borrowed your OC Sergeant Artamo Rusticus for my omake. He let me avoid making an OC from scratch so thanks for that.
2. This all takes place near the beginning of the Expedition turn. Except for the end. That was when we got the results.
3. More OC's and stuff to pad out the roster and buildup the world outside our PC.
