@Magoose, which Army was Ney serving in during the War and did he do anything particularly impressive during that? Just want to know because I wanna claim another Omake-Bounty from the list for that sweet +20 Bonus and I need that Info to write it.

Ney served the army of France (under Nappy) and did not do anything to remarkable, just assisting the emperor in an awesome victory or two.

Le plus courageux des braves (Alexander Sturnn)
Le plus courageux des braves

"COME ON, YOU BASTARDS!!", General Michel Ney shouted as he rose from the bushes, drawing his Sabre. "SHOW THEM WHAT YOU GOT!! CHARGE!!!"

With a furious Battlecry, his Soldiers complied. They rose from the bushes like angry Forest Spirits, their fixed Bayonets glittering in the setting sun, and began to sprint towards the Enemy Position.

The Prussian Regiment he had been tasked with attacking had fortified their position after being cut off from the Rest of their army. Setting up at the foot of a steep cliff, they had thrown up earthworks and hastily dragged a few cut down trees in place to use as makeshift barricades. Now they were scrambling to man their defenses even as Ney and his Men sprinted towards them.

As he ran, Ney couldn't help but reflect how they had gotten here. The Emperor's Plan had been pure and utter Genius, really. He hadn't really understood all of it, never having much of a mind for greater Strategy, but the Results spoke for themselves. The Prussian Army stationed at the Rhine had been shattered into Pieces, the small Contingents that remained either surrendering before the superior French Numbers or making desperate and futile last stands. Like this Regiment here, which had opened fire at the small Party of Officers asking them to surrender.

Ney knew that the War was nearing it's end. This was merely cleaning up.

Somewhere within him, he felt a bit frustrated by that. Aside from managing to smuggle Brian Auclair out of Paris at the start of this all, he hadn't really done anything to really prove himself. Sure, it had been a daring Action, much like his overthrow of the Directory when the damn Bastards refused to pay the Soldiers of France the money they had damn well earned. But the Emperor, Auclair and from what he heard others like Lannes, Murat and Severin as well had achieved incredible feats. Not to mention one young Officer in the Army of Naples apparently doing some crazy stuff as well.

Compared to that, his deeds in this War where rather modest.

...Oh well, there likely would be another War to prove himself, one way or the other. For now, all that remained was to do his Duty for France and Emperor by finishing the task he had been assigned to do.

"HOLD, LADS!!", he shouted, raising his Sabre. The Soldiers came to a halt. "LIKE WE PLANNED!! ONE VOLLEY AND THEN WE STORM THE BARRICADES!! READY...AIM...FIRE!!!"

The roar of the Volley of Muskets tore through the woods. The Salvo hit the Prussian defenders, most of whom were only now starting to get into their Positions on the barricades, killing and wounding many.

Ney smirked. It had been a good call by him to send his Light Infantry forward to dispatch the Prussian Scouts so that they wouldn't be warned of the coming attack. Now he had caught them with their pants down.

"WELL DONE!!", he bellowed. "NOW, FOLLOW ME!! VIVE L'FRANCE!! VIVE L'EMPEREUR!!!"

With that, he ran forward, his Soldiers following behind him.

The Prussians where still reeling from the Volley. But now, their Artillery-Men had manned the two Cannons the Regiment had with them, one on each flank of their fortifications. Ney grimaced even as he ran, seeing the muzzles turned on his Soldiers. Whether they had Canister-Shot loaded or not, being hit by a Cannon from such a close range would be devastating to his men. If his Plan failed-

The Sound of Muskets firing interrupted his thoughts. He smirked with glee as he saw muzzles flash from atop the cliff at the foot of which the Prussians had positioned himself. Scaling said cliff from the other side had to have been difficult, but Captain Calvet and his men had clearly done it. And now they were in a prime Position to target the Enemy defenses.

Ney laughed as he saw the Prussian Artillery-Men slump dead over their guns, hit and killed by the fire from above. Panic and confusion spread amongst the Prussians as they realized that they were now trapped between two Enemy forces. Their Officers tried to maintain order, but their attempts only made them easy to identify for Calvet's Men atop the cliff. Many of them were felled by precise shots, their deaths worsening the growing chaos.

And with the Prussians in such disarray, Ney's men slammed into their defenses.

Only a few of the Defenders managed to fire on the French before they climbed over the makeshift barricades. One of them almost hit Ney, who as always was charging in the front with his men, the Bullet tearing off his hat. But instead of fear, Ney only felt a burning in his veins as he rewarded the Prussian with a Sabre Strike that sliced open the poor bastards face.

Planting a foot on the barricade, he waved his Sabre in the setting sun, not paying on bit of attention to the Bullets zipping around him. "COME ON, YOU SONS OF BITCHES!! CLIMB UP AND THEN KICK THEIR ASSES!!!"

Inspired by their Commanders show of bravery, the French Soldiers doubled their efforts, swarming over the wall and engaging the disorganized Prussians in vicious close quarter combat. But even as Ney jumped down to join the fray, he could tell that their enemy's heart wasn't in it. Demoralized by recent defeats, their resistance was collapsing fast. Many turned and ran, others threw their Weapons away in an effort to surrender. Still, some of them resolved to fight to the bitter end, but where quickly overwhelmed.

Ney himself clashed Sabres with a Prussian Officer, a Captain by the looks of it. Ney had never really gotten any training in fencing, much like he never had any in being an officer. But he was pretty good at fighting. A swift kick to the knee made the Prussian stumble before Ney's Sabre sliced across his wrist, leaving a deep cut and making the Prussian drop his weapon. With his face contorted in Pain, the man raised his uninjured hand, indicating his surrender.

With a smirk, Ney sheathed his blade before looking over the fight. It was over now, the Prussians either dead, surrendered or escaped. This Regiment had been utterly smashed.

He felt triumph surge through his veins as his men began to cheer for their Victory. He looked up at the cliff, where Calvet and his men where celebrating as well. he would congratulate the Captain once he got back down. Without him managing to scale the cliff and take down enemy Artillery and Officers as ordered, this fight might have gone very differently.

Ney smiled. He may not be a Strategic Genius like the Emperor or have the ability to plan a Grand Campaign like Brian Auclair did. But he could come up with some pretty clever solutions on a smaller scale.

And mixed with a hefty dose of bravery...perhaps that was all he and his Troops needed to play their part and survive in this War and those to come.

A.N.: And here is one look at Michel Ney, certified Madlad and Bravest of the Brave. While he didn't manage to do anything THAT impressive in this War (aside from Ninja'ing Brian outta Paris) he surely will get his Chance to shine in the Future.

Interlude: Les Aiglons Part 2

You looked at the two wondrous joys that you have brought into the world as you and felt… nothing but a feeling of contentment wash over you. It was all over. You had a victory that many women in the world shared, yet yours felt unique and yours.

You didn't have Brian here to join you, nor mother and father… they were all gone, either far away with their own families, or dead. Yet… you had someone who did care about you here, and one that, despite both your choices, could feel content.

At least in front of the family. But Politics cared not for the whims and joys of a familial scene, especially this family.

"They are wondrous, are they not?" You started as Napoleon held the first child, the eldest.

"They are my dear." He replied. "You have given them a name?"

"The eldest is Alexandre Charlot." you started with a pained and exhausted huff. "The second is Roland Geofferi."

That made Napoleon frown at you when his sight left your son as he chewed on nothing, looking at you. "I… had expected you would… chose my name?"

"My dear husband, the children will have hard enough lives if we name them after King's and You." Roland started cooing as you rocked him a little bit. Alexandre held onto his father's thumb with his small hands.

"Yet, dear husband, for all it raises my spirits to see you returned home, I cannot help but feel a pang of sadness that stains your arrival." You started.

Napoleon's face paled as you said those very words. It was quite humorous, and you enjoyed that brief moment before making it even worse. Because he deserved it. "For I have discovered that by the laws you have decreed, you have made me, your own beloved wife, into an outlaw. Imagine my shock at learning that."

Napoleon looked confused, a treasured look that you would hold in your memory. For a moment, he didn't seem to realize that such words were spoken by his wife. He then quickly went on the defensive, not for your sake but because he clearly did not expect to be speaking about that here. "Thérèse, is this truly the best time to talk about politics and laws?"

"It may be the only time." You replied firmly. "Looking at the work your wife has done to secure your empire with your heirs, maybe then you realize the importance of a woman, other than just producing children and running a household. You promised to treat me as an equal, but you deny other wives that same luxury, by proclaiming heinous and degrading laws that deny them that chance, for property, and their rights as human beings." You paused, and regained composure with the next sentence. "The Revolution that we both fought for was about equality for all men… we have allowed all those who loved to love, men, women. Why can we not allow women to join such things."

Napoleon then realized that you were forcing the issue. "I believed that the chaos that our revolution caused was… damaging to our society. That we went too far in our quest for a better world."

"Is that what you are saying to me, or saying to yourself to justify your actions?" You replied. "I believe in a better world for our family, Napoleon."

There was something you wanted. You wanted a world where you did not need to fight, where your children would not be burdened with the expectation of ambition, of the state being an all-controlling entity in their lives.

You didn't want them to be like Napoleon. Not unless they chose to be like him.

Napoleon said nothing.

He merely stood up, and gave a deep bow, before gently leaning and kissing your forehead. "I wish I could share your optimism with you. But life is not a story, and try as we might to force it. I do not believe that such a world can exist."

"That doesn't mean we can't try Napoleon." You replied with all the seriousness you could muster.

And grim-faced as he was, a rare sight for anyone in the world to see, Napoleon Bonaparte, Emperor of the French People, left the room.

We should throw in his face that this is the argument of the royalist counter-revolutionaries.
It will either makes him reconsider more or show us who he really is.
That's certainly an Idea.

Personally, I'm just glad we were able to reduce the DC and Influence Cost for these Actions by a hefty amount. The seeds of doubt for creating these laws have been placed in his heart. Let's see if we can make them grow further.

Something to note: Next turn is going to have a LOT of very big political, personal and Military actions for yourself, Nappy and France.

you are not going to have enough actions… and that is by design.

And on Napoleon:

Napoleon for all his talk about being a political realist who wishes to secure his throne and see France powerful again, is at heart an idealist.

Because of the circumstances regarding both his accent to power and the people surrounding him since he got power, he truly wishes to be the Revolution he claims to be.

Frankly he's just afraid he's going to become another tyrant… but and this is a big BUT.

unfortunatly, his desires to be what he wants, balancing the political situation in France and Abroad to not go to shit and protect his family and his power get in the way.

And he needs to be influenced by his angels on his shoulders, namely you and Brian.

This gave me a thought on an Omake I might do...

Not sure how accurate it's gonna be in portraying Nappy's Character, but I'll try.

True, but I also wanted to delve a bit more into his fears.

Especially now that he also has Children.
Napoleon... is a very interesting person.

But we only knew he had one kid and left him when he was young (well forced, but you get the point).

How might that big brained and ambitious Napoleon act now that he has someone other then himself to worry about?

I am excited about that.

I just hope that people will like it.

Especially considering that there are Enemies of his out there who would DEFINITELY kill said Children if they get the Chance...

I'll try my best.
Well... Enjoy some domestic scenes coming up.

God knows that this will be the first time that this has happened in this quest without everything going to shit immediately after.

11.4: Un jour nouveau; A Brand New Day:
11.4: Un jour nouveau; A Brand New Day:

June 24th, 1796, Tuileries Palace, France.

It was a jovial sight to awake to the sound of crying the first few times, before rushing to the twins as they wept for their father or you to care for them. At least the first few times. Napoleon had wished for you to hand them off to the nurses and nannies that had been hired by one of his ministers.

You had starkly refused to have the children be cared for, or fed by anyone other than you. Your mother had done so with you and brian, according to Brian's stories that he told you about her. It was fuzzy with your memories, but you wanted to emulate the strong feelings that you had.

And then you tried to work with twins and realized that it was far more difficult than you first believed.

Kellerman had been amused and said nothing about you bringing the two children together to the meetings and the daily briefings, that were not productive, but he had taken the time out of his day to give a few words of encouragement to you and recommended that you make sure to have extra time planned in your day for rest, even if it meant just sitting down to read reports alone, rather than with the men themselves.

He also enjoyed holding Alexandre, whom he began affectionately called, "Alle"

He joked that the boy would not care what he called him right now, and he was sure to understand when he got older and got to spend more time with his grandfather.

You had told him that, while you respected the sympathy, you also felt a little worried for allowing him to be seen as such... not when you still needed to decide on a godfather for the both of them.

You had almost had Bessières disciplined for some of the words he said to you when he wished for you to step down from your post immediately. Presumably because, unlike many of the other men who served as your inspectors, he was young, unmarried, and was rather annoyed at the sight of seeing a woman with children in an official capacity. Especially since that woman was you… and you were his boss.

And Lefebvre. Once again, he showed you the most amount of sympathy in his unusual bluster as he forced your Inspector of Artillery to, and in his words. "Shut the fuck up, or you may enjoy getting fucked by the emperor himself." Or "I'll have you with pistols at twenty paces right now you pompous Prick if you seek to whine about the children again!"

You had never seen so many grown men in the room laugh at such a joke, or horrified at such a challenge… but they had the desired effect, and Bessières had withdrawn himself for the next week.

Crass words, but he also assisted you in making sure the children were… well not fussy, and he had the experience that you and Kellerman lacked when… well giving the advice to raise children.

-------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------

Napoleon and you both sat in your office, the twins sleeping in the crib that was in there. You had a few of the servants place one in your office, and one in Napoleon's. And he was not amused. "I told you, we needed some extra help to make this all work, and we can continue with our duties unimpeded."

"And I said that I was not going to do such a thing," you replied. "I have been able to lead men to war and battle, I can care for our children."

"Yes, and caring for our children while also trying to assist the nation, something that we both cannot do when we are juggling the two of them, and caring for them," Napoleon replied as he finished writing the letter on his desk. "Pierre has a wonderful list of nannies to assist with caring for the children, you should look at it, perhaps they can assist you so that you may be able to focus on our jobs."

You did not want to be reminded of… the lack of time in the day for everything you wished to do. You were not Napoleon. You could not sleep for only a few hours before waking up, energized and refreshed, with a cup of coffee.

"You could try helping more in that regard, what with your unnatural ability to sleep only four hours and then wake up as you slept for twelve." You started with an arm fold.

Napoleon was not intimidated by your display of dominance. "And how would you plan I do that? Sacrifice more work for my ministers, while I spend time with my family?"

"It would not be the worst thing that could happen," you replied. "We have both already sacrificed enough for France. What is asking for a few hours a day with our children and with each other worth?"

Napoleon sighed, turning towards the city. "France and the People expect us to be nothing more than the great servants that will answer their needs and worries. Nothing more."

"Yes, especially when those needs include stripping the rights of others." You replied. Your disappointment is shown, by the scrunching of his face.

Napoleon shook his head, but quickly changed the subject. To a subject that was a victory. "Pierre!"

The young man who was somehow the man who was Napoleon's personal assistant entered the room with a quick bow, and a bonk on his head when it hit the door, which he opened too slow. "Yes, your eminence." He said with a pained expression and a rubbing on his forehead.

"Any additional work will go to my ministers. I am going to walk the palace with my wife and children." He proclaimed as he stood up, adjusting his jacket and grabbing his hat. "And I wish to not be disturbed until I return."

"Yes, my emperor." Pierre stated.

"And Pierre." Napoleon stated.

"Yes?" He said, dropping the formalities as you stood, a glare exchanged between you and Napoleon as he took a deep breath.

"Get yourself something from the kitchens, anything you wish, but stay out of the Empress's Coffee supply." He ordered. "Heaven knows we do not have a reserve of that yet, and Haiti is not sending larger exports. And I have little time to negotiate more incentives."

"Yes, Emperor." Pierre replied.

As the assistant left, you rose and picked up, took the two children in your arms, and handed over Alexandre to his father. "So Husband, shall you escort your family to whatever we plan?" You said awkwardly as Roland cooed, holding your fingers.

"Of course." He said with a smile, before you both walked through the door to the Palace, and beyond it.
