While i don't think he was fully into 'anyone could do this' spirit, he was completely into 'someone would attempt to do this' vibe. If you read War and peace unabriged there are entire chapters of him only dissing on 'great man of history' theory with no narrative development.

It's kind of charming.

Some more info if you don't have the time to read the chapters. SAGE Journals: Your gateway to world-class research journals
Its one of the reasons I love war and Peace, it's so fascinatingly brilliant in its author's messages... but also such a slog to get through the story itself.

Hell, I tried writing a novelization of La Chanson in it's style, and for sick of it on the fifth chapter.

Hell once the entire quest is over, I'm going to write the entire story as a novel, and try to get it published.

...That Maniac has actually done it.

God...I hope we can somehow end this WITHOUT being forced to storm the City. Because that would end in an absolute Massacre of it's People.
Looks at the Report rolls.

So... I'm not saying that we literally tipped the balance of power in the entire war towards our side....

But god Damn Jourdan, how did you do that to poor Blucher? You only have 100,000 men.

Also, it seems our other fronts seem to be not doing so well.

At least, all things considering.

But god Damn Jourdan, how did you do that to poor Blucher? You only have 100,000 men.
Those poor Prussians...

As for our other Fronts...well, as long as no Army got destroyed, it should be fine. Setbacks can be expected when fighting all of Europe.

And, well, the Prussians are currently by far the most dangerous of our Enemies on the Continent, so them getting clapped hard is welcome news.

Given what we know, I believe the best is to go to Paris, for now.

Let's finish getting our house in order before going to the borders and remind Europe why you do not want to awaken a sleeping giant....

To the Emperor, and Empress, Army of the Rhine Report on the Battle of Mannheim, October 1st, 1795

The enemy forces sought to find another way across the River Rhine, and had gathered forces on the Eastern Banks to find more secret crossings, as Maienz had been fortified against Prussian attacks from previous engagements, and they found their crossing at Mannheim.

General Jourdan, realizing that the Prussian forces were going to move south, immediately rushed Captain Durand, and Van Damme, and 2 cavalry brigades to harass them across the river, to feign flanking while he shored up defenses, and marched the army to the Mannheim crossing.

General Bluchers Forward scouts had detected our moments, at least from what we saw, as they began to set up a series of defensive lines that would delay our attack on the city.

But instead, we retreated, baiting Blucher into crossing the river, while Captain Durand started a series of dawn harassments on their cavalry.

The objectives given, preventing the Prussian Forces from advancing across the river, and entering the French countryside.

The attack began at 12 in the afternoon, and our forces were hiding within good terrain, and I must admit that Captain Durand, of the Amazonian Volunteers, took her cavalry and led them into a daring frontal charge at an isolated enemy brigade. Their momentum would begin the ebb and flow of the battle, with a series of enemy charges being isolated by artillery, while the cavalry or infantry did a series of flanking attacks. Charging the lines with bayonet or sabar.

Twice were forced back a quarter of a Kilometer, while under heavy fire. Then my Cavalry arrived, and I conducted a brilliant defense of the Army's weakening left flank, before General Jourdan launched a series of devastating counter attacks to push the Prussians across the bridge back into the empire.

Infantry attacks conducted by Captain Lefervbe and General Vandamme saw heavy losses in men and muskets, as these attacks were caught in striff Prussian resistance, while they tried to get men across the river, into defensive locations on our side of the river.

At 7 Pm, when the sunset, the battle was over.

Casualties are… grave, but not nearly as grave as the Prussian forces that tried to cross the river. It will take them weeks to recover, and in that time, we'll have the Entire Rhine secured.

The Swords of Honor were given to Captain Lefervbe And Captain Durand.

We will continue reports of our activities on a weekly basis.

The Spanish Army Report: October 1st, 1795

There is no army to speak of in Spain, but there was an outbreak of camp fever in our ranks.

It was not as devastating as we had feared, but thousands of men are currently in field hospitals and triagges, still needing time to recover.

We will continue without them, but we see that there is no Army. The civilians we encounter are scared, but our conduct has remained firm, and disciplined, and there has been no major outbreak of violence and looting, though one or two events still occur.

We are struggling to find our objective, in the spanish army, but we are prepared to lay siege to Barcelona to establish a forward operating base.

We hope to see something soon.

Report from General Massena, Army of Italy, October 2nd, 1795

It was only by Pure fortune that we were not destroyed in Milan. Archduke Charles has gathered a force of 70,000 and has launched offensives all over the frontiers.

We are in a full fighting retreat, and we are in desperate need of reinforcements before we are pushed back to the French Border.

We understand that General Davout is operating with 50,000 men, I request that they immediately march North to assist us.

The Message is torn off, and half-burned.

You suspect that the enemy tried to destroy it.

Dear Therese,

I want to despise you for what you have done, and for What Napoleon has done, plunging France into another Autocracy.

But I cannot be mad, because you are trying to save the Republic.

You have also taken that burden of the Crown away from me.

For that, I thank you…

But when I return… I wish to speak to you, and Napoleon.

Therese,

Do not be mad at me, but I am going to do the one thing I know I can do. I am going to England, I am going to assist Napoleon's agents that are there, and if not, I will make a network that will inform you of the enemy's strategies.

I know what you will say, that I am too young, that I am going to get myself killed. That I will make myself a pawn to my uncle.

I do not fear what may come to me. I fear what may happen if the British decide to burn Europe to be kings of the ashes.

So do what you know is right.

And I will do what I know is right.

With love,
Charlotte.

Robespierre Capture Roll:24+20=44 https://rolz.org/embed?jgyx2ov3nq:kqp95y5u

Robespierre has escaped.

Agents unknown to us, have rescued the man. We do not know where he is going... but he knows

Robespierre escaping is problematic, yes, but we can also turn this into an opportunity... We make it look like Robespierre's coup was done with the aid of the British in order to give Britain a good enough reason to conquer France and remove one of their rivals. This way, we can push the perception that British are manipulators that seek to become the strongest power in the world while supposedly claiming to maintain the "balance" that was supposedly threatened by the French Revolution.

We need to see to the situation in Batvia as soon as possible... the French Army there got wiped out by an army that was estimated to be of 30,000 men (of course, that estimate could be wrong)... that said, the situation in Italy is worrying as well, even though Davout is close enough to help reinforce the Italian front. (and, technically speaking, the roll for Italy was worse than the roll for Batvia... compare a 7 vs 59 to a 5 vs 85; despite this, the front in Italy did manage to blunt the damage it took, compared to the Batvian front where there was no recovery, just rolls to see what happens to the officers there)

Yeah, I'm wondering if the Spanish army was sailed over there instead by the RN. Would handily explain their seeming vanishing act from Spain.

That all depends on where he winds up in the next few months.

As for the Batvian Rolls, that is because it is not the French Army in Batvia that was destroyed in Batvia. there were only the Dutch forces under Brune and Dumouriez, and that was not really an army, more militia's that were not organized and both commanders were captured, causing the army to basically disband without fighting their way back to France.

That was what me and Cyber at least tried to convay here.

Without competent commanders, resistance fell apart.

as For Massena, it's only because the Army was able to survive, that resistance could still continue.

I thought Spain had a disappearing act due to America and Spain colonies taking time stomping on them
Spain is actually dealing with: In descending order:

A Revolt in new pain that want to lower taxes.
Loss of Carribian islands by Haiti
Florida being taken by Jackson
Mexico trying to become independent
British Forces trying to fuck French and American forces and trying to steal land for basing rights
And of course... whatever the fuck is going on in south America.
