So Robbie boy lives I assume he'll be banished then at the very least? But he'll definitely cause trouble for us down the road.

Rob: 93 + 50 (SzechuanSauce) = 143 > 84 (Auto success)
Right, so you did allow that bullshit after all, thats all I need to know. Anyone who decides to read this quest from this point on, I only you wish you the best considering what the QMs seem to be willing to allow, and I'm going to walk away from this wiser about whose works of fiction I should and should not read going forwards.

I would like to say that I was against that and was fully prepared to take it away because really, it's not a good idea for one person to fuck you all over because someone decides it's a good idea to play politics and believes that what we are doing is wrong and wants to circumvent it by throwing bonuses around.

Even though that was kinda the entire point of this. Brian is not saving the Republic through his actions.

He's damning it.

Just saying.

Your cool with me then.

I'm confused. Why did a bonus get spent on Rob instead of increasing the DC?
@SzechuanSauce believed that what we were doing was wrong and thought it was best to save Robespierre from whatever was going to happen to him.

Thinking that we were kinda making the millitary and certian members in it out to be infalible, while the civil government of France, being ineefective during this time of upheaval and crisis that had befallen it.

Even though we are seeing these events through the eyes of politically inexperienced viewpoints.

Brian is not what I would call a Caeser overthrowing the republic.

They're damned. Life of Brian ended(not literally, for now) and we'll go back to Therese.

But, I just wanna say, that while it didn't make much of a difference, since Rob rolled well, and had a nice, natural bonus...

@SzechuanSauce ? I am very annoyed with you, even if I understand why you did it. Not because Rob lived, since that'll just make things interesting, but because I'm certain we'll lose players from this, not to mention the possible divides. It's not personal, hell, hopefully I'm giving everyone too little creddit and I'm wrong, but still.

Not happy.

I have to agree that allowing players to spend omake bonuses in ways that run directly counter to other players' desires feels like a bad game mechanic. It sounds like an excellent way to give people the opportunity to ruin things for others out of spite.

Like, the only other time I can think about this going on was in War of the Krork Quest back on SB. And that was a scenario where the GM outright asked the whole playerbase about if they were okay with it beforehand, and said if there wasn't an overwhelming majority support, it wouldn't happen.

He'll be in hiding, luckily he hadn't gone into the cult-creation phase of his mania, so it was less of an argument to lop his head off just yet. He's still gonna have his contacts, but gonna be very careful about who is in power from now on.

To be honest, I only allowed the adding of the bonus after seeing how high Rob's roll is (he woulda added his Law bonus otherwise, but that would have been overkill, tbh), I'll be more clear next time, but in general, putting your bonuses for the "bad guy" of a quest is a tad on the unsavory side, yeah.

That's what I am saying. Very little difference, since RNGeesus decided to forsake us, but still.

A lot of people seem to be annoyed. I liked the update, and I understand why you two did it, hell, I'd probably have dome the same, but...

Eh. This quest is too good to leave because of something like this. So, while I'll probably ignore the excistence of a certain sauce, I'm staying.

Everyone who's angry, please do the same. Things would have gone the same way, no matte what.

Yeah, I share the sentiment. I'm staying to save the Republic with Therese and the gang since this quest is pretty great and unique but I get it if people will leave due to sauce.

I'm going to be honest, the idea of getting to spend points on factions other than the character to change the course of the world outside the voting system is not really something i see as a positive influence on quests. It's one thing to boost rolls once agreed on, but another to make changes they ultiately failed to get thread consensus for. That said, I am glad that it ended up going somewhere it didn't change the results, and that this doesn't seem to be the start of a trend; I'm still going to stick around and see where this goes despite that.

I mean, I understand the QMs' decision and am not really opposed to it. If that 50 bonus was needed to save Rob and was used I would be furious but in this case it makes little difference. So I'll be sticking around although I really hope that no more players try that shit. Even if it's rejected by the QMs it is a gigantic dick move.

I'm going to sleep, and if people decide to bomb me saying that we've made a huge mistake (and I will agree, we've done goofed), then let me hear it.

But we're still going to keep trucking on with the story.

Don't worry, the fun will begin again... Eventually.

Believe me, I think taking that 50 away and not getting it back will send the messege.

Hopefully people won't.

Or we start Threadbanning people... or taking away their omake rewards.

Seeing that +50 on the roll that let Robespierre walk free was almost enough for me to drop this quest before finishing the update.

But realising that Rob would have succeeded anyway and that @SzechuanSauce just wasted all his points in a fit of ego? *chef kiss*

To clarify, this update was continuing a mainly story-driven side story of Brian's, not doing our usual Dice Combat, so the rules were more lax here. This would be an exception rather than a trend, since I'm not gonna have you guys add points to say, Brunswick to capture Thérèse just cuz someone thinks it would be poetic justice somehow (just an example).

All in all, the player bonus would not have been used if Max failed his roll with his Law bonus added. This is mainly one method to combat point inflation using deterministic QM prescience :V

Yeah I'm going to have to agree with everyone here using a bonuses to see Rob free leaves a bad taste in the mouth for me. But it's also clear that it was added after Rob passed already so it wouldn't have mattered in the end. Still don't like it personally but I can accept it and move on... to planning to drive him out of the nation at the very least.

Though it does feel like someone rubbed salt into a wound as well so yeah still not enjoyable to read.
