Paw Patrol Puppeteer Pitch
"So, you have a new Paw Patrol episode for me?"
"Yes sir, I do. I was thinking in this episode, the citizens of Adventure Bay have a big party to celebrate the Paw Patrol and show appreciation for them and all they do."
"Well, that's nice of them."
"Very nice of them. But Chase is feeling really bummed out because of a combination of his imposter syndrome and his crippling guilt at having caused both Rocky's and his own injuries through fear and inaction."
"Isn't Paw Patrol a kids show?"
"Yep."
"That seems a little heavy for a kids show."
"You haven't seen anything yet."
"What?"
"Nothing! So the rest of the Paw Patrol notices and tries to cheer Chase up before they go on stage to get their big award for being just the goodest boys."
"Aw, who's the good boy?"
"They are, yes they are!"
"So how do they cheer Chase up?"
"Marshall waterboards him."
"I'm sorry?"
"I forgive you."
"No, I meant, elaborate on what you just said about our firefighting Dalmatian torturing an officer of the law in our show for children."
"Oh, well Skye has Marshall hit Chase with his water cannons, to snap him out of his funk."
"You mean the thing they do to protestors, that can cause serious injury?"
"Well, the pressure is very low, it's like being hit with a water pistol."
"The pressure is very low in the things he uses to fight fires with?"
"Well, you see the thing is, I'm gonna need you to get all the way off my back about this joke about throwing water at puppies."
"Oh, let me get off of that thing!"
"So anyway, they also tell Chase he's their friend, and they trust him even if he does make mistakes sometimes, because he's always trying his best."
"See, that's more like what I expected."
"So Chase's fragile self-confidence is just starting to be nurtured back to health when the celebration is interrupted by a villain!"
"Oh boy, I wonder what wacky scheme Mayor Humdinger has in store for us this week!"
"Oh no, you see, this is a
new villain!"
"But… Mayor Humdinger… wacky schemes…"
"Did I mention this new villain has a marketable design, several cute minions, and a puppet that can all be turned into merchandise?"
"Tell me more about money-I mean this new character."
"This is the Puppeteer, and her little hand puppet, Presto the Magnificent."
"Oh, so they have some kind of stage magician theme, and do little tricks and illusions?"
"No, the Puppeteer has actual, literal magic. She can summon these little pixie things to carry stuff, and flash people."
"Oh, my god."
"Yeah, she makes big flashes of light to blind her enemies so she can escape."
"Oh, okay. I thought… nevermind. And we're sure this whole actual magic thing isn't going to be out of place in the Paw Patrol setting?"
"No, we haven't had anything like it so much as foreshadowed."
"…That sounds fine."
"So the Puppeteer has her little minions grab everybody's valuables and put them in a big sack."
"Oh, so her plan is outright burglary then."
"It certainly is."
"And what is the Paw Patrol doing while this is happening? Did she flash… did she make a big flash of light to blind and disorient them?"
"That would make sense. No, instead one of her little pixie things triggers Marshall's water cannon, and it blasts some of the Paw Patrol, so it's just total chaos."
"The same water cannons that sprayed Chase as a joke in the last scene?"
"…yes."
"Fair enough. What happens next?"
"So the Puppeteer takes advantage of the confusion to steal some of the Paw Patrol's vehicles!"
"But we sell those as toys! I don't think I like this Puppeteer person."
"Ah, but if the Paw Patrol loses their vehicles, they'll need new ones. Then we can sell
those!"
"I like this Puppeteer person, she should be in every episode."
"So the Puppeteer steals the Paw Patrol's vehicles, and drives off, even though she's a terrible driver."
"It's gonna be pretty hard to get away from the Paw Patrol if she's bad at driving."
"Actually it's gonna be super easy, barely an inconvenience."
"Oh
really?"
"Yeah, because the Paw Patrol will be too distracted by the Puppeteer's pet dragon stealing the Mayor's golden chicken statue."
"The Puppeteer has a pet dragon?"
"Yep, a big ole' lizard that can fly and breath fire, the works."
"And this doesn't clash with the tone of our children's TV show about puppies in civil service helping people?"
"I don't think so."
"Well okay then!"
"So this dragon swoops in a steals the chicken statue, and the Paw Patrol doesn't notice until it's already leaving."
"Oh, a
very stealthy dragon!"
"Yeah, so the Paw Patrol chases after the Puppeteer, but she uses her flashbang spell to escape with all the loot."
"Wait, the Paw Patrol loses!?"
"Indeed they do! It'll be a really intense direction to take the show, I think fans will really respond to these increased stakes and multi-episode plots."
"Our audience of three year old children?"
"…did I show you the Presto the Magnificent hand puppet we're gonna be selling for $40?"
"Ooh, money!"
