As an aside, we may need to work creating Snapshots, so that we can maybe have an idea what is going on when we are sealed away.

Tbh all of the cannon Transistor units would be nice to have. Cheerleaders, Jerks, Weeds, etc, are all good things. Though uh... might want to avoid the YoungLady and Man ones. Pretty sure those were signs of Bad Shit(tm)

Especially since if Jaune dies, the Process does too.
No? Pretty sure that's not right. The Process is self sustaining and separate from us.

One of the reasons why its so dangerous, it does not have a convenient Jaune shaped (deadly) weakness.

Giving planning a try. This one is for people nervous about the Process killing someone by accident, like me.

[X] Teach Process Nonlethal Takedowns
-[X] Badcells- Pros: Smaller, faster targets, greater numbers, capable of limited flight. Cons: Lower-powered weapons, unable to restrain assailants.
-[X] Defence Augmentation- sacrifice LLDs in order to strengthen defences, leaving only Transistor and manufactured Process units for offensive actions- guarantees sysadmin and priority target safety against the current level of aggression- escalation may negate benefits. (High defence, Low offence)
-[X] Imprisonment- Modify long-range cannon plans for short-range Processed mass dispersal, which will then reconnect in large masses around assailants.

This seems like the best plan, though I'm hoping the bad cells dont go too far.

You can say both "Ich spreche hoch Deutsch" (or would it be Hochdeutsch in this case?) and "Ich spreche hohes Deutsch"
But maybe its an Austrian thing.

Hochdeutsch, and yes. I don't think I ever said otherwise.

I mean hey, one letter off isn't too bad. Mantal is a deliberate decision, though- none of the different languages are exact 1:1 copies of real-world languages. Atlesi is like German, bog Mistrali is like Creole, highland Mistrali is like English. Either way, I'll meet you in the middle- fix the legitimate mistake, keep the proper noun as is.

Still, thank you for the correction, I honestly never would have known that was wrong if you hadn't told me.

Fair. Names can get a lot of weird exceptions.

Any time!

I've considered, and while I am averse to revealing the process to the wide world at all... I'm not seeing it happening in this situation. Even so, better nonlethal than going full lethal. We can escalate if more show up, or they turn out to be protected by aura.

Going for the Offensive module is the only thing I dont like in Burrowing. Lethal cells seem like a bad idea. And also lack of defense means that we're just stuck in a hole-in-a-ground.

The hole in the ground is literally the reason it doesn't need defense. Unless they brought a guy with a semblance that let's him break into bunkers, they can't do shit to us once we're underground.

Yeah the semblances you want for hit and run guerrilla insurgency are very differnt from what you want for prolonged, open battle. Unless they coordinated to have a versatile team, there's not much they can do.

Another idea: take the build a turret idea and have it bolster the suppressive fire by sacrficeing range and power for sheer rate of fire.

Then have a team of bad cells go out the back and sneak up on the sniper. Once the sniper is down we lead the remaining bad cells over the top.

@Prok is "there's no such thing as a regular day" going to continue being a running theme of the story? Because you're portraying the main character as dealing with the stress of a malevolent god continuously fucking with his life .... because there IS a malevolent god fucking with his life. And it's you.

So yeah, I guess I'm just asking if there's some point to it all. Especially when you have the narrative go out of its way to highlight how weird it is.

----------unrelated nore-----------------
Also you've now given Jaune the perfect excuse to ignore Bracket and Brace when they try prodding him into being less of a NEET

edit: oh and three related program/technique ideas

Null Pointer Exception: negates a single interaction by or two the target and disorients them as they experience a brief moment of immateriality because the universe glitches around them. ex. a claw swipe ghosts through someone without damaging them. Or a guard goes to scream the alarm but finds their voice makes no sound because they can't move the air.

Memory Wipe: The target progressively fades away as Jaune systematically overwrite all mathematical references to the target with null pointers. If the process reaches completion the target doesn't necessarily die per se ... the universe just ceases interacting with them in any way.

User Input Exception: the simplest and easiest technique Jaune's semblence is capable of ... using aura to empower a bunch of mathematical nonsense and then throwing it at the target. Usually causes an corrosive or explosive effect as reality gets overwritten by nonsense. But this technique has a very low chance of randomly producing valid input, resulting in things getting weird.

its not a bunker. Just a literal Hole in the ground.

Care to actually read the option?

[] Burrowing- Use Processed mass to dig a small hidey-hole underneath your fort, and wait it out until people actually qualified to deal with this get here, or the LLDs and Process units deal with it. (Immediate, removes sysadmin and priority target from the battlefield- no longer able to personally affect outcome of battle.)

We're removed from the battlefield -- just as we can't effect it, neither can it effect us. And while I'll give that the hole itself is not explicitly said to be reinforced, it is under our fortification.

I mean, I guess I could see a position where someone believes the prompt is providing us false or purposely misleading information, but I tend to err on the side of trusting GMs

@mastigos This is on the character sheet as one of Jaune's traits.
Protagonism- Whether you like it or not, you're kinda the life of this party. Anything interesting that happens usually involves you. It would be a boring story otherwise.

Well yeah, but you'd expect there to be more days when there isn't anything interesting happening and they get timeskipped past.

Or alternatively, to be an issue caused not by random events happening TO Jaune so much as his localized omniscience making him far too aware of all the random events happening AROUND himself. Like walking down the street and simply knowing things like "that woman is a murderer", "that man beats his wife", "a robbery is going on 2 blocks from here" etc.

They weren't a sign of Bad Shit™, per se- Royce theorised they were the result of the Process 'taking a liking' to us, in his words. That is, the Process learning to emulate the human form.

What exactly that means is up in the air, but Royce certainly thought it was Bad Shit™ happening.

Oh, no, offensive augmentation isn't lethal weaponry- it's just slightly less kind about incapacitations. So, instead of lasers that ignite clothing, dazzle them, and irritate their skin, it might be the Process equivalent of a beanbag round to the shoulder. Still non-lethal, just a lot harsher about it.

Well yeah, but you'd expect there to be more days when there isn't anything interesting happening and they get timeskipped past.
There are days like that, quite often. Hell, he just had three pleasant days where he trained with his mother, met with his friends and had a heartfelt conversation, and then one where he inadvertently created a new Function by accident. Even before that, the worst thing that'd happened to him all week was a crappy boss, which he's long since accepted as a reality of the freelance industry.

Part of it is the Protagonist trait, part of it is fucking wacky rolls, I'm not going to lie, but an appreciable amount of it is just negative bias on his part. People remember bad days much more intensely than they do okay ones, and he has enough of the latter that they're going to seem like every other day.

He'll get over it, don't worry.

I promise it isn't going to just throw you into a shallow with a severely weakened shell above you to make things easier for the White Fang.

Honest.
