New Good Seed and Omake Rule Updates
Good Seed and Omake Spreadsheet Rules:

Firstly, if you have questions about Good Seeds and the like please read here. If that doesn't answer your question please ping me in thread, or on Discord.

If you write a new Good Seed, or write an omake, please update the spreadsheet if you have access.

If you do not have access, please ping a collaborator (Swordomatic, Alectai, Quest, TehChron, Insane-Not-Crazy, Humbaba, ReaderOfFate, Kaboomatic, no., BungieONI) letting them know what you want and they will update the spreadsheet here. To gain access, you will need a gmail account of some kind. Throwaway emails are fine (I'm using one for the spreadsheet), but to gain access it's as simple as sending me either your email via PM, via DM in Discord, or just in Discord's #spreadsheet-requests channel.

This is mandatory. If a Good Seed does not record their omake by pinging collabs (or just requesting access and editing things themselves - this is the preferred option), I won't give out awards. If a new Good Seed is not recorded here, they won't advance. By doing this it makes the whole thing manageable for me - it's gotten pretty unwieldy!

-----------------------

Omake Writer Instructions:

There are four fields you need to fill out.

Omake Link, which is just a link to your first omake for the turn. This makes it easier for me to read them as I do the update - without this it's tough to know off the bat which omake were written this turn, and to properly

Requested Bonus, which is your requested bonus for your omake. You can leave it up to me if you like. You can see more info in the Good Seed infopost here.

Cultivation Aims. For those following unorthodox paths - higher than 9th Heavenstage or later than 7th Dao Pillar paths. Please put in what you are aiming for before you break through. I have left it as 'default'. If you do not edit it, I'll go with that.

Turn Notes - Do you want to do something specific? Enter a Secret Realm? Help the Clan out in some way? If you have something specific you want to accomplish on this turn, put it in turn notes so I can adjust your Fate around it.

All other fields are for QM use to record character information to properly run the flow of the game.

Ok so up in the air/we generally have more important things then trying to get Manuel's cultivation up to late nascent stage that's sounds fine to me.
More like Manuel is so untalented that its more likely for him to die of old age, one of our counselors, or one of the OG Good Seeds will reach it before Mid Nascent before he gets too late, barring some shenanigans or rewards.

Once we've secured the Mountains for ourselves, namely taking the Footsteps Path, displacing the Devil Bees, doing something with the Qiguai, and placating the Blood Oaks...We'll just need to find a way to run out the clock until our best Unorthodoz Good Seeds break through to Nascent Soul.
Even better, our conquest (or Reconquista you could say) of the mountains doesn't affect our strength in a linear fashion. All of those hidden repositories and caches that haven't been found will be a significant boost.
In addition, there is a cursed tower in the Sorrowful Blacksmith sect from when we were kicked out that hasn't been touched period. It was specifically cursed to outright kill any non-Gold Devils. We crack that open, or better yet harness that curse we will be able to hold down the main pathway through the Mountains to the desert almost as well as having a Spirit Severing Elder.

To be honest there isn't any point in updating the map until after all the invasions stop. Probably 340 or 360 at the earliest. Not much point in updating the map if its going to change the very next turn

[X] Permit Casia to ascend to Nascent Soul. Will happen at turn start if so, and a fourth Nascent Action will be unlocked.

Oh yeah we're so back, 4th Nascent here we go! Really stoked to see this revived, hope whatever RL stuff you've got going on works out and thanks for coming back @occipitallobe.

Also just to check, have we already used the "Truebreath Core Flower" boost? If not, could we also vote to use it for Turn 15 before the new turn? Because IIRC you mentioned Sheng Yu can give an extra +1 offensive Legion if we boosted him to Great Circle CF (since he rose to Late CF on his own).

Glad to see this quest active again.

About this tower near the sorrowful blacksmith sect. Does anybody know where it was mentioned? Zeno has been active near this sect for years in universe. The odditiy of this sect not utilizing this tower should at least be mentioned.

Oh, it'd be a huge thing if we could do it, because it'd cut down the pool of people on the continent that Manuel has to fear in personal combat from "a few dozen" to "about three." It's just that it's logistically impractical and whether or not it's possible in the medium-term future may well depend on whether Manuel's picked up any cultivation secrets from Heraclius, which is very much an X-factor.

You mean the obsidian tower? It's old SCA legacy that need the blood to access and we sure as hell ain't helping them loot our old shit. Here's the pass post
Grand Elder, I appreciate your patience in our latest centennial report.

I apologise, for many of the things we had hoped have not come to pass. Our Sorrowful Blacksmith Sect possesses this territory at our far extremity, and we rarely intervene with the trade there. After all, Strength Purity and Bronze Devil have historically agreed on little, but attempting to choke the flow of trade might see us lose this valuable pass. Rather, in return for the absolute territorial guarantee of the Strength Purity Sect we continue to maintain the infrastucture and guard (what little needs guarding) along the ancient Scorpion Road. It is not overly costly, after all. Despite the northern side of the pass being infested with beasts from Turtlebone Mountain, the pass remains ever-clear.

In any case, the result of our investigations. I shall go west to east, passing from the lands of the Strength Purity Sect to the Devils.

Here is my map, though it is not strictly to scale.

We begin at the Old Bronzegate. This was termed the 'Gate of the Blood' in former Bronze Devil accounts, and the bells there would clang when a sufficiently noble-blooded Devil passed through. Given they have not chimed since we have seized these lands, I doubt they ever will again. We are unable to rework the arrays to yield results for other blood, though with sufficient Spirit Stones it is believed we could ensure the lesser bells clattered when a Devil passed through. This would grant us some intelligence on their movements, but the cost would be astounding. I cannot imagine the sheer cost in Qi it takes to run these bells. I have discovered notes that indicate the bellfounder who made them also forged the Great Mountain Bell of the selfsame sect, though I am not certain.

The Obsidian Tower is still the same. Towering absurdly high into the sky, yet completely invisible from more than fifty or so li away. We have managed to figure out the function of one of the runic arrays. Unfortunately, we cannot unlock it, and the Golden Devils seem not to have ascended it since the rise of Demonic Soup Chef. But the functionality the Devils used to use to open a pathway to the peak of Turtlebone Mountain for the Nascent Divinity Contest is almost within our grasp. I can confidently say we should unlock the basic usage of this array within the next six or seven hundred years. I believe we have isolated the beast-repelling functions necessary to do this - they are currently turned on the Colossus Footsteps Pass itself, and appear to only repel beasts of Nascent or lesser strength. In theory the tower should be capable of repelling beasts at the peak of Spirit Severing, or perhaps more, though that is only conjecture.

Doorway City remains the only truly habitable place in the pass. Twenty or so million live there, a substantial population and a great number of our mortals. Many of our new Sect brothers and sisters stem from there, and it is a great tradepost. With the verdant lands around it and the complete lack of beasts, it is truly a holy land for mortals.

The Doors Between were forged two hundred or so thousand years ago. Previously, it was impossible to cross the mountains if you did not cross through the Doors Between. An old Devil script I have translated claims that they ruled the entire Third Sea, and these doors were the only way to cross the mountains at all. As it stands, if one does not cross through the doors - which somehow violate the laws of space - one cannot continue through the pass, or for around one thousand li on the southern side (and presumably the north, though there is no way to test that). All merchants register here, which makes accounting for them easy.

The Manzikert Fountain-Array is all that remains of Castra Manzikert. Rejuvenating and powerful, it fills the body with Qi and the mind with solitude. Currently we use it as a major source of income, and also cordon a third of it off to help enlighten our disciples.

Spiritfall Stairs. Old Grand Elder Komnenos, the last Spirit Severing Elder of the Devils - and the region. When he fell, the Devils still held, laid low by his foolish decision to remain in this Sea and help his Clan, trying to serve as a reserve power for centuries. The battle he was slain in did not lead the conquest of the mountains, but the Pass fell and was not retaken for a century, the Devils laid up in their mountain holds. We know the remainder of the history, of course. The stairs were carved in the blink of an eye, Komnenos creating them to allow his own people a retreat from a losing battle.

Reverse Flow Falls. A great frustration for us, as Reverse Flow Falls are waterfalls that fall towards you, whichever direction you happen to be. Only a navigator with Golden Devil blood can cause them to flow the other way, allowing one to be thrown away by the waterfall, it bringing you to a gentle stop just before land. While few Devils betray their Clan, working for huge sums of Spirit Stones for relatively little labor is considered a worthwhile task. They do seem to die every hundred years, but there are always more. There has been no luck in altering the flow of water ourselves.

The Ruins of Casta Komnenos were the last stronghold of the Golden Devils, the Devil-Punishing Coalition pushing them out of there entirely. When the walls fell, they fell, and even today those ruins are haunted by vengeful spirits. Many Sect cultivators guard the footsteps of merchants there, and it is the only truly dangerous region that must be passed through to trade. Recent innovations have allowed us to spend two-thirds as many cultivators repelling ghosts, a true masterwork by Junior Brother Han Lu.

Dying Curse Peak was the dying curse of Old Elder Komnenos, a man who specialized in curses. When the Golden Devils were driven out of the region centuries after his death, his longstanding curse activated, and formed Dying Curse Peak. Initially it killed everyone in the pass and the region to the south, butchering twenty or so million innocent non-Devil mortals, eight Nascent Souls, almost a thousand Core Formation elders, around a hundred and fifty thousand Foundation experts, and twelve million Qi Condensation disciples. The Devil-Punishing Coalition was the largest army raised by the Righteous Path in history since the death of the Turtle Child, and it disappeared in an instant. Had it not been for this curse, the Golden Devil Clan would've ended that day - they could not have had the strength to seize lands in the desert with the entirety of the Coalition chasing after them.

In modern times, it merely kills anyone who steps off the well-protected path. Curse-weakening talismans and Qi-repelling arrays make the road traversable, although the lands around it are not. It can no longer kill Nascent Souls, and a Core Formation elder who stepped foot there would only die after a few days prolonged exposure. We have maintained these arrangements, and the Curse continues to slowly weaken.

Lastly is the Grand Mountainwall.

This is a great wall, inscribed all-over with various arrays. It is not a defensive wall, but rather detects those both coming and going, marking their Qi signature. In this way the Golden Devils can tell who has paid the toll, and who has not. Many more arrays sit there, mostly for identification and targeting, as well as defense. The wall is not to be defended, strictly speaking, and one can simply walk through the many entrances at the base. We are not permitted to study it under our treaty with the Golden Devil Clan, unfortunately.

Old Cannibal's Mindset for the Last 300 Years Visualized:
You know we all laugh at the memes but it really is going to look like we just countered Old Cannibal move by popping out 3 new nascent Souls in what a 150 year time span? Jeez it's bound to give Old Cannibal one hell of a headache dealing with our BS.
It's just that it's logistically impractical and whether or not it's possible in the medium-term future may well depend on whether Manuel's picked up any cultivation secrets from Heraclius, which is very much an X-factor.
Ah right it comes down to logistics since maintaining/advancing a nascent souls cultivation is quite costly and as you said Heraclius has given knowledge/wisdom to Manuel that we'll probably need to study/understand over the next few turns to see what that brings as well.

Also Old Cannibal: "I've done it! I've made a (slightly) stable, force of Blood Path adherents, nurtured good seeds, suborned 4 other Nascents, and reached Late Nascent and become one of the strongest, most experienced Cultivators in the Virteous Flipper Region!"

Old Gold: *Becomes Hegemon over the Desert, begins to reverse Golden Devil's terminal decline, all while raising 3 Nascents, multiple Single Pillar Kings, and a Dao Seeker* "Cope and seethe Sunny Boy"

Old Cannibal: He can't keep getting away with this!

Old Gold: I can't, but while I'm still getting away with it, I'd like to ruin your day a little more.

As funny and exciting as it is, let's remember something crucial:

to Old Cannibal, 2 newly raised Nascents are just as much opportunity as they are threat. The Blood Path feeds on people. A Nascent is a better meal than a Core. And a weak or wounded or new Nascent, is just as much a threat as an opportunity.

Old Cannibal's Nascents have been fighting as Nascents for decades. They've jockeyed for position amongst each other and competed with each other -- and before they just competed with each other and jockeyed for position... they also tried to eat each other and defend against being eaten, until things finally went "click" for them and they understood "We should listen to Old Cannibal..." and switched to slightly less unstable Blood Path power-jockeying -- and they've fought against the Righteous Path too, and Old Fish is Old Fish before he fell to Blood Path, whereas our incoming two Nascents?

Haven't. Haven't fought for decades as Nascents.

Some types of lucky breaks or advantages that we gain, despite their potential for ensuring our future, are also inherently uncertain and fragile. When they come in the form of power, or knowledge or artifacts and tools, that are held in the hands of new Nascents.

The more things go our way in the form of new powers or rising people, the less certain and stable that gain is; whereas when things improve Old Gold's power, the more certain our future is, because Old Gold is old, and he knows how to play at the Nascent Soul gameboard.

That's one reason why Xie Xinya's marriage is a big deal for Manuel's power; because even a 1% boost is a 1% boost to somebody who is old, tricky, and reliable.

And one reason why Casia's ascension is a big deal; because if it can deal with our new alliance with the Yuan and stabilize that front, then that means the Yuan Nascent is more reliable. And if Casia can also get our newly conquered areas stable, and keep our Silver Bloodline guys in line, then our internal coherence and internal economics and our corn seed growth are all more secure.

Speaking of Xie Xinya... ... I wonder if one of Manuel's actions, and/or Xinya's actions, could be "come to an understanding with Xinya and improve relations with her, so that the two of you can work together better"? i.e. Take things from "literally just doing this for the benefit" to "well, there's not necessarily a spark or emotions there, but it's at least something, kindasorta I guess?" ... Probably not worth it, when instead they can be getting Shadow Points or Big Spy Stuff, but.

Though, I also wonder if Manuel's teaching skills, would be good when used on the new Nascents. Is that worth an action or?

Kainos Yuan 1
Kainos Yuan 1
Year 290
A talisman that and a letter is what the servants have brought to him and interrupted his meditation. His sister who was next to him use this opportunity to escape their force session prompting the servants to chase her. Bā Erzi Yuan shook his head in exasperation "seriously I don't know how that girl thought advancing to the 3th stage of Qi Condensation at the age of 8 would have resulted in father giving her more playtime" Bā quickly suppressed the familiar bitterness whenever he thought about his siblings superior progress compared to his lackluster results, he doesn't know how but somehow he bottleneck in the 1st of ALL PLACES! Focus Bā you have mail!

A base of Jade along with what look to be a symbol of protection carved into the material before being filled with what looks like a mix of some kind of qi infused gold and bronze. Next to it was a letter with the family emblem on it a beetle shell and his brother name. Why the founder of their family branch decided on that symbol he'll never know. Oh well time to read.

Dear slacker when I get back you better be in the 5th nay 6th stage when me and father are done here! Cousin Zhengyu is being more of an asshole then usual and I want you to be miserable with me. Anyway forget what my last letter said we're not going to Ghostbridge anymore. Noooo Zhengyu decided we're traveling to Twinbone now despite the weeks of planning we all made. Never mind that on the way we ran into some bloodpath rebels and I looted this off of their bodies. Poor idiot tried to activate this with blood qi of all things. Anyway the idiot stupid look when it failed reminded me of you so I decided to gifted this to you in my glorious generosity. May it serve you better then it did him.

Your truly Rui Yuan the superior brother

"You really could be more honest about caring, you know" Bā said in annoyance. "Still this might be come in handy" as he shoved it into his pocket. " now sounds like the servants could use some help"

Damn I don't know how people can consistently get over 1000 words. Anyway I would like a LST if possible.

Not just him, but everyone in the region will be getting nervous for ascendant Golden Devils.
Especially because with the pass cut of (temporarily) all the Spirit Stones that would go for the RP? It's reinforcing the growth of the devils.
The missing trial? The very thing that kept them suppressed for millennias? Gone.... And see what happens, the pop two new nascents when they got out from under pressure.
And the yuan intervention? They got a heavenly opportunity and they seized it like it's a chicken for dinner.
And that's without any of the Nascent Souls they baged during the invasion.
If heaven has stopped suppressing them.... What does that mean for everyone else?
And more importantly...
What will the golden devils do next?

No.

I'm going to push for both our new Nascents getting crash courses in their respective specialties. Casia learns diplomacy from Kleisthenes by doubling down on the Blood Oaks. Xinya learns skullduggery from Manuel as they sweep the Yuan Lands. Two intrigue spec Nascents in the chaos of that battlefield are ideal for clean sweeping them to our benefit. The prospect of ganking between 1 and 3 Nascent Souls is too valuable to leave to waste.

Having a short 'apprenticeship' is a good introduction to Nascent-hood. But I think Manuel will be recovering for a while.

I also think we can't underestimate the possibility of threats coming from the seas or the deep desert. Especially with our forward momentum, a strike to areas we are least expecting would be disastrous.

...as you said Heraclius has given knowledge/wisdom to Manuel that we'll probably need to study/understand over the next few turns to see what that brings as well.
Well to be clear, I'm not saying Heraclius DID provide Manuel with anything useful. Only that he MIGHT HAVE done that, or Manuel might be able to deduce useful things, or not, and that it's hard to tell.

I also think we can't underestimate the possibility of threats coming from the seas or the deep desert. Especially with our forward momentum, a strike to areas we are least expecting would be disastrous.

Quite frankly, if we do get hit from the Seas or deep desert, whatever it is that hits us is going to steamroll over us no matter what we do. As TehChron points out, there are regional barriers present. And said barriers mean that anything that manages to cross said barriers is going to be absurdly powerful, and quite frankly, the odds of someone doing so are incredibly low to the point we can just ignore it.

I still weep at the fact we are barred from the sea due to the qi drain becoming stronger there.

It would have been nice to have Manuel fish some beasts....

Ultimately, the Rules of the Cosmos demand everything be a zero sum game. For someone to gain, someone must lose an equivalent amount. This immediately puts a stop to any mutual-reinforcement shenanigans that might otherwise be in play, because no such system is 100% efficient (And if it happens, like in the Primordial Blood Path, then it will be patched as a bug, as is what happened)

I imagine part of the reason it's lasted as long as it has is that Blood Path still demands someone's life in exchange for someone else's powerup, so it's really not that different from consuming a Core.

Huh. Now I'm imagining an alternate universe where Mammal Taskmaster(Bear Enslaver Soup Chef) discovered a means of using corrupted version of Formations using enslaved people that even mortals could contribute to, kind of like how every bit of bad luck Heaven hits the Golden Devils with drains the Curses it's got going a little, but in reverse. The price being that they're memetically enslaved to the Cultivators to the point they don't actually live, they just farm and the like, have kids that farm and sometimes become Cultivators, then die without ever doing anything that doesn't contribute, like a twisted mirror of giving everything to the Clan by having the Clan take literally everything in ways even the Blood Path normally doesn't, though with the caveat that they can in theory be saved. In practice, fighting them is ten times more dangerous than Blood Path, since they actively attempt to convert anyone they meet by word or by force, and they're very good at the latter.

Cultivation-wise, they're benefitting massively. Morally, it's completely bankrupt. At least the Blood Path normally just kills you. It might eat your corpse for a powerup, but it doesn't use you as a flesh golem against your friends, trying to either convince them to join you or take them out so they wouldn't have a choice.

Jianjun Quan - Hmmph AU: Corrupted Formations
Hmmph AU: Corrupted Formations

It began, as things often do, with a seemingly innocuous thought. Mammal Taskmaster was part of a Sect that drew strength from Beasts, ones they rode upon. If Cultivators could draw strength from each other in Formations, or from servants in the form of Beasts, then shouldn't it be possible for mortals to contribute? Mortals technically had traces of Qi, so perhaps they could make up for their weakness with numbers, as a school of fish might, or a pack of wolves hunting a larger animal?

So Taskmaster researched. At first, the results were merely modified Formations, better able to gather large groups of weaker Cultivators to punch up against a singular stronger one. Nothing of moral concern. However, as time passed, and Taskmaster's research took him further afield, brought deeper secrets to light, he grew more and more disturbed by what he'd found, by how the universe seemed, at it's most fundamental level, designed to make those with greater power the cruelest, the most selfish.

Part of this was his investigation into the Sea Conquering Army's past, how much crueler they had been when they'd arrived at the height of their power, and how they'd become kinder as they grew weaker, as the Heavens lashed out at them. Centuries of torment had made them kinder... but then, what of the greatest power the Seas knew of, Heaven. Upon learning the truth, that the Heavens were nothing more than a Will that had gluttonously consumed it's own children to win a fight, something had snapped. The moral foundation he'd built his life on had been a lie. Something he'd kept after becoming a Nascent Soul, a belief that Heaven would punish wickedness, which had first bent to punishing the Golden Devils for past sins, had been broken by the revelation that this was all the equivalent of a depleted army incapable of mustering the strength to outright extinguish it's foes sending haphazard strikes at them when they poked their heads out, little more than the thrashing of a beast against the one who had wounded it terribly.

And the conflict between the Army and the Turtle Emperor had in turn been merely a tiny skirmish, which further damaged his mind. All of this struggle was meaninglessness stacked upon meaninglessness. The victor of that battle didn't matter, because reality bent to the cruelest, and neither side would have changed that. Alternate Cultivation methods wouldn't change anything, or they already would have.

No, if he wanted anything to change, he'd need to build a new Cultivation method from the ground up. An extension of the Formations he'd been working on, perhaps. As a child, he'd wanted everyone to work together, and hadn't understood the concept of a zero-sum game well enough to realize why they didn't, which had frustrated him to no end. But what if the Cultivation didn't give you a say in whether you worked together or not? A Formation that inducted you into it's ranks, whether you liked it or not.

He hadn't started immediately, of course, and for a time, no one even realized anything was wrong. He'd done more research, done small-scale tests. A village here and there that would work in eerie synchronicity, or who seemed to have been stripped clean of selfishness, and so on. Mental effects, soul effects, buffs, bargaining, negotiation, and so on. Things to make the Formation better able to convince those who could be convinced, and take by force those who couldn't. Simply telling them the truth worked in many cases, assuming their minds didn't rebel at the idea of Heaven being a lie.

Eventually, he'd begun in earnest. A Spirit Severing Cultivator such as himself ambushing a group of Nascent Souls engaged in diplomacy would ordinarily have been a declaration of war. Sure, the odds they could even hurt him, despite a few Great Circle Nascents being present, were low, but you didn't reach Spirit Severing by taking risks like that without a good reason. The fact that those Nascents were not killed, but became the first true members of his Corrupted Formation, often simply called the Corrupted, made it into the opening strike of a scourge that would ravage the Third Sea for millennia, and beyond. The last act of Mammal Taskmaster had been to try and induct the Turtle Child itself into his Corrupted Formation using the Realm that led to it's heart and the various methods of contracting/compelling/controlling Beasts, including at least one Sect that could include them in Formations already, to try and latch onto the Turtle Child, an act that compelled Heaven to intervene, killing the Turtle Child to prevent it from falling into the hands of the Corrupted, and to curse them as it had the Golden Devils. Those who believe in Heaven have labelled the Corrupted worse than the Golden Devils for this, and Heaven itself seems conflicted on the issue.

Despite this, the Corrupted have managed to weaken their Curses far more quickly than the Golden Devils, because unlike the latter, every mortal under Corrupted rule counts as Cultivator as far as Heaven is concerned. You see, like all Formations, the Corrupted Formation's strength is determined both by the number of participants, and by the strength of those participants. As all the Corrupted are technically part of a Formation at all times, this manifests as a boost in strength. For mortals and Qi Condensation Cultivators, it's immense, for Foundation Establishment, it's merely large, and for the likes of a Core Formation expert, it's minor. However, this is no normal Formation. As it is constantly in use, it roots itself ever deeper into an individual, subsuming their body, mind, soul, even their Dao in time. Those of a medical persuasion have described it as if it were making another set of meridians specifically for the use of the Corrupted. Even if they do nothing, even if they are a mortal who does not Cultivate, they grow stronger over time, or rather, they become a better puppet for the Formation.

Mammal Taskmaster was a genius of the type that would make Corpse Gulper look like Manuel. Unfortunately, his genius seems to have increased as his mind broke under the strain of trying to force the universe to care. It readily interlocks with Dao, Bloodline, Techniques, and even other Formations, serving as a basis they can use to leap to greater heights at the cost of choosing to do anything but follow the greater will of the Formation. In some ways, it might be better to think of it as a contagious Bloodline with brainwashing properties. As such Corrupted Qi is treated as a mixture of highly toxic and highly addictive, as most drugs will not actively attempt to worm their way deeper into your system even while you pull them out by force. It's technically possible to free someone, but they will lose all the benefits, and likely be left a broken mess by the memories of their actions while Corrupted. Supposedly, an individual with a Dao of Soul was able to free themselves and retain the benefits, and had a relatively easy time freeing others, but this appears to have been the result of a particular interaction of the Dao with the Formation, and thus is not replicable for obvious reasons.

The effects of the Formation are threefold. First, as mentioned, numbers, strength of the individuals, and time spent Corrupted all strengthen individual Corrupted. The second effect is accelerated healing. Generally speaking, regardless of their Cultivation level, Corrupted heal twice as quickly as they should. It's theorized that unhealthy Corrupted are 'borrowing' the healing of hale Corrupted somehow, just as normal Formations pool their strength together to make single construct to fight for them. Though this explanation suffers from the fact that even in eras where there aren't many Nascent Corrupted, a single Nascent will still benefit from this. The third effect is believed to be some form of reverse-engineering of Dao Magic uniquely possible thanks to Mammal Taskmaster's personal Dao and it's interactions with Formations. Every Corrupted gains some special ability. Raising the dead intact, always knowing where a designated target is, pyromancy. It varies with the individual, and in the case of mortals who are born, live, and die as Corrupted to Corrupted parents who then repeat the process with their own descendants, is often something that directly aids in their main task, as they are not capable of interests beyond that, but in cases of outsiders inducted in one manner or another, it often provides them with a sort of secondary Dao Magic. More limited, but usable as if it were a normal Technique.

More than a few Cultivators have been tempted by the power on offer, or believed themselves capable of mastering the Formation for their own ends, or even simply been convinced by Mammal Taskmaster's ideology that the only way forward was to force cooperation, but regardless, they were consumed by the Corrupted Formation. It is said that the Heart of the Turtle Child remains a cursed place, both for the sheer density of Heaven's lightning that tries to cleans the area, and because, impossibly, the Corruption refuses to be stamped out. It is whispered that every Corrupted individual's soul comes here when they die, stolen away form wherever they would have ended up instead, constantly fueling the effort to claim the Turtle Child in truth, and then begin the dread task of reviving it to take the others. Most dismiss the idea, believing that Heaven would simply strike the effort down again were it to succeed, but some note that Heaven struck the Child down before the Corrupted Formation could actually take hold. Wouldn't that mean Heaven considered the possibility of a Corrupted Turtle-Child too grave a threat to risk?

It is generally agreed that letting things progress to that stage would be against everyone's interest, regardless.

Recently, rumors have swirled that a new Corrupted with some bizarre Technique that lets him fight far, far above his station as a Qi Condensation disciple has been deliberately seeking out and converting Foundation Establishment Righteous Path Alliance members. Nothing to be too concerned about yet, but we'll keep an eye out.

AN: In Mechanical terms, Corrupted immediately gain +22 Impact and doubled healing rates(IE, they go from Crippled to Wounded in one Turn, and even mortals have the equivalent of this, so situations like an arrow in the eye that would normally kill them Crippling them due to an arrow being lodged in their brain, more Corrupted showing up, and then holding off the enemy long enough for the first dude to recover enough to limp away are not uncommon), as well as Cool Thing, as long as they have either an early Nascent or equivalent lesser Cultivators(with mortals being counted, but it takes hundreds of millions of mortals to equal an Early Nascent, so they tend to either be incidental targets or targeted after the Cultivators have largely been dealt with), and since they don't really have needs like 'entertainment' or 'being able to stand up in my bedroom' and breed like rabbits to take advantage of this. They stack their population insanely by Quest standards, straight up doubling or more every 20 years, in direct contrast with main timeline Blood Path. Corrupted Formation members stack this when they use normal Formations to punch up, which is another thing they can do, because Mammal Taskmaster is a mad genius with the Formations Dao. Meaning regular ass mortals can threaten Qi Condensation people of other factions in equal numbers, making them a nightmare to fight on the army-scale without overwhelming force or assassinating their high-tiers, and the range on this Formation is at least anywhere else inside the Region. They don't exactly get a ton of information from other Regions in this timeline either.

Since their Cultivation doesn't technically violate Heaven's strictures, they can still Cultivate the old-fashioned way, they just do it more slowly, and have a lot more bad luck, kind of like the Golden Devils. This impact buff can also be increased further either with massive numbers of mortals, or higher-end Cultivators. A Great Circle Nascent would raise it to 25 even on their own. Not to mention, as they get used to their new body, the buff increases even further, usually +1 every 20 years(so a 100 year-old Cultivator would have 27 Impact even if they didn't have a single notable deed and their special ability was useless somehow, making them undefeatable among Qi Condensation) unless they have an extremely compatible Dao(encouraged by giving those with higher compatibility among the mortal population Cultivation resources, as even that choice is taken from them) or Bloodline-based affinities. If it weren't for the fact that they're basically zombies at the mortal level and zombies that mostly retain their personalities at the Cultivator level(hence higher/more cerebral Cultivation being possible at all for Corrupted Formations), it would be a straight upgrade. Of course, this doesn't really go against the whole 'Monsters are stronger than People' grain the universe is pushing like Mammal Taskmaster was hoping, and I'd probably compare it more to what the people on the Beast Worlds are experiencing being restricted by what the Beasts will and will not allow them to grow into except a thousand times more limiting and violating, but hey, he was pretty crazy by the end. In the hypothetical situation where the Corrupted Formation managed to raise a Nascent Soul up from the ranks of Corrupted mortals(less likely because Cultivation efficiency is somewhat gimped by lacking a life philosophy beyond what the Corruption forcefeeds you, which still technically counts enough for it to be possible) they'd have 72(Early NS) Impact from their time spent Corrupted as of 1000, and 174 by 3000(Late NS) but luckily this almost never happens because everybody realizes how bad it would be and goes out of their way to kill older Corrupted as much as possible.

2361. I'd like an Cultivation Boost for Jiang, please. @Kaboomatic
