New Good Seed and Omake Rule Updates
Good Seed and Omake Spreadsheet Rules:

Firstly, if you have questions about Good Seeds and the like please read here. If that doesn't answer your question please ping me in thread, or on Discord.

If you write a new Good Seed, or write an omake, please update the spreadsheet if you have access.

If you do not have access, please ping a collaborator (Swordomatic, Alectai, Quest, TehChron, Insane-Not-Crazy, Humbaba, ReaderOfFate, Kaboomatic, no., BungieONI) letting them know what you want and they will update the spreadsheet here. To gain access, you will need a gmail account of some kind. Throwaway emails are fine (I'm using one for the spreadsheet), but to gain access it's as simple as sending me either your email via PM, via DM in Discord, or just in Discord's #spreadsheet-requests channel.

This is mandatory. If a Good Seed does not record their omake by pinging collabs (or just requesting access and editing things themselves - this is the preferred option), I won't give out awards. If a new Good Seed is not recorded here, they won't advance. By doing this it makes the whole thing manageable for me - it's gotten pretty unwieldy!

-----------------------

Omake Writer Instructions:

There are four fields you need to fill out.

Omake Link, which is just a link to your first omake for the turn. This makes it easier for me to read them as I do the update - without this it's tough to know off the bat which omake were written this turn, and to properly

Requested Bonus, which is your requested bonus for your omake. You can leave it up to me if you like. You can see more info in the Good Seed infopost here.

Cultivation Aims. For those following unorthodox paths - higher than 9th Heavenstage or later than 7th Dao Pillar paths. Please put in what you are aiming for before you break through. I have left it as 'default'. If you do not edit it, I'll go with that.

Turn Notes - Do you want to do something specific? Enter a Secret Realm? Help the Clan out in some way? If you have something specific you want to accomplish on this turn, put it in turn notes so I can adjust your Fate around it.

All other fields are for QM use to record character information to properly run the flow of the game.

We must dissent – Or “Why the council won’t institute a proper essay ratings system on the contribution board”
Guys help, I can't stop writing. Have some funny discussion about the contribution board that is probably non-canon. Nothing to do with Wei Feng this time, but hopefully it'll still go to boosting my fate bonus.

A rating system? That doesn't sound like any Xianxia library I'm familiar with. How would old fogies/terrible writers venerable seniors make contribution points from people reading their blather if people could see how unhelpful their articles were upfront?
I thought that we were trying to defy those tropes?
Hmmm.

We must dissent – Or "Why the council won't institute a proper essay ratings system on the contribution board"

Trainer Xiong Lin tried to resist the urge to daub his forehead. He was dripping with sweat. As a new trainer for the latest crop of aspirants, he had been selected to take the latest suggestions for improvements from the low-level troops before the clan's training council.

It was a great honour to meet such august personages, and he was honestly terrified of embarrassing himself. He was good at yelling at recruits, not this. Even introducing himself had been excruciating. The higher one went in the clan, the more adhered to the traditional naming structure. Xiong Lin was the only one present with a turtle world name. He had thought of changing it when he joined the legion, but hadn't been able to stomach the thought of disrespecting his parents so.

"And finally good councillors, our new recruits would like to petition for an improved ratings system to be added to the contribution board for essays. Whilst the current recommendation system is…. functional, many of its recommendations can be less helpful to the renter's intent than their titles would suggest. The recruits feel it could be much improved by addition of a user rating system." He sat, pleased to have gotten through his speech to such august councillors without stuttering.

"Thank you representative Xiong." The chairman, who had curiously refused to remove his helmet indoors but wore it pushed back on his head, responded. "Councillors, if we might open the floor for discussion on this final suggestion?"

"Aye." Shouted one voice immediately. An aging, man whose tan skin contrasted magnificently against his greening beard. "The contribution board's design forma an important part of the clan's economy and making good texts easier to find is an excell-"

"Oh please Callista." Another councillor interrupted. She was powerfully built, with close shaven hair. "You just want to use the fact that little brat of yours got famous to milk enough points from the contribution board that your branch might actually avoid bankrupting yourselves raising her." She stared challengingly at him.

She received a quelling look from the Callista representative in return.

"It is an explicit goal of the contribution system to allow the whole clan to benefit from the wisdom of its bright lights." He sniffed. "It's only natural for the wider clan to offer heir support in return for wisdom."

"By which you mean you want to lock down the system. "A third councillor scoffed. Slim and delicate of face, she took up the argument. "Cultivation is not some cooking recipe that can be followed by everyone. A thousand neophytes blindly trying to ape one success will produce a thousand failures. Variety is key, and it allows our older or declining members to continue to serve the clan and be provided for in turn. A pearl can form around a single grain of sand." She declared the last smugly.

Xiong Lin watched in horror as the esteemed councillors descended into squabbling toddlers.

"But a sandstorm in the face is good for nobody!" A fourth councillor interjected. "Knowledge needs to be effectively communicated. A few words vomited out onto a page does not spontaneously become a priceless treasure just because the writer happens to be getting on a bit." He grinned nastily. "If your people can't write properly maybe you should invest some contribution points in writing classes."

Xiong Lin remained frozen in the centre of an emerging argument, hoping that if he didn't move, he would be discounted.

"…ever been in the library of another sect?! If I hadn't spent decades figuring out what how to identify actually useful stuff from plumbing the depths of the search function, I'd have ended up carrying off poems and basic primers as loot rather than cultivations manuals!"

Eventually the secretary succeeded in catching his eye, gesturing him to leave with with eyes movements and a head jerk.

Grateful, he made his escape out the doors, chased by the sounds of an argument beginning to hit its stride.

"You're just bitter about getting tricked into buying that essay about how much the author hated sand!"

==========

Thankfully the meeting room doors muffled the sound down to a low murmur. Relieved, he finally gave into the urge to wipe the sweat from his forehead, closing his eyes.

"Ghtg!" he jumped at an abrupt touch on his shoulder, spinning round to find it had been one of the extremely shiny guards. They gestured him to follow.

"Oh. Yes. Thank you." Face burning with embarrassment he set to following the guard out of the building.

After passing through several corridors, the guard abruptly spoke up.

"Don't be too worried about it, lad. Most of your suggestions were fine. The councillors just like a good argument to finish up a session and you stumbled into one of their favourites."

"I- what. You heard-? I mean, -…you mean they've done this before?" He asked in dawning horror.

"Oh yes. Heard it all." He jabbed a thumb at his helmet. "Cancels out the sound dampening. Don't want our councillors being murdered in a room and our own dampening rendering the guards outside oblivious." He grinned, displaying teeth that were almost as polished as his breastplate. "And yeah, they've done this before. Didn't I say? It's one of their favourite topics. Gives them something to do when nothing else urgent is on. Besides, it's part of clan tradition. Gets the brats thinking and working together to find the good stuff."

Xiong Lin digested this for a moment, rocking back on his heels until an impatient gesture from the guard started him moving again.

"You mean… it really is deliberate?"

"S'my theory anyway." He shrugged. "Even if it ain't, the pranking s'gotta be." He moved closer. "So..." the guard laid a companionable hand around Xiong Lin's shoulders, lowering his voice. "-what's the current prank essay all the aspirants seem to be getting recommended? Ours was 'Our enemies shall hate this desert' by A. Firmamenttreader. It turned out to be a long essay about his visceral hatred of sand."

"Life in the desert, stories of young cultivators." Xiong Lin answered absently. He hesitated before continuing, before realising the damage was already done. "They've been complaining for weeks. Apparently, it's actually just a lot of pictures or memory imprints of baby spirit animals and their parents."

The Guard threw back his head and laughed uproariously.

AN: You all knew where that link was going, don't deny it. :p Ancient memes for the win!

And yes, baby cultivators are getting recommended cute animal pics under the guise of basic cultivation knowledge. I promise it's cheap. It's a prank, not actually malicious or damaging.

Anyway, certainly non-canon but very fun to write.

Yeah, also keep in mind, our economy is heavily hamstrung by the Curse of Poverty--once we break that, our ability to support super cultivators probably skyrockets.

Got a pocket of internet. Am away with family at a place with no internet, have been since monday and will be until monday. Hopefully Tasos is okay. I'll update Index when I can.

I seem to have missed the major gambit that is being done during this 100 year trial. I got that there has been a major acquisition that is part of it, but I've missed the rest of it. Could I get a summary of the grand plan?

We spent almost all of our wealth on this:

[ ] Purchase Broken Eight-Hundred and Eighty-Hundred Technique Cultivation Palace (20 Wealth)

"Archegetes, a rare opportunity has arisen. The Demonic Altar Sect seized a Cultivation Palace from Gemstone Justice Sect, selling to Gao Clan who sold to Yuan Clan. Yuan Clan have no use for it, apparently. Such a Palace can find techniques suited to almost every disciple, helping them forward. This palace is broken, and can only assist Qi Condensation juniors. However, this will offer them new techniques to practice alongside their Formation arts, and will improve their combat power by no insignificant amount. I would wager this would improve the strength of our Qi Condensation juniors outside of mass combat to equal other Sects and Clans, though it would not impact those above that level. Such a permanent increase in our power, however small, is difficult to come by."
Which boosts the strength of our Qi Condensation cultivators a bit for this trial (And other battles), and all trials following.

We also used Manuel to cockblock the Jingshen's advancement plan for Lady Jiao to buy us room after the Trials. We helped the Flood Dragon's get a new Nascent Soul to preserve an ally and have her help defending us for the twenty years after the Trials, accepting a deal with the Strength Purity Sect to lower tolls for three turns in exchange for the Strength Purity Sect giving that Flood Dragon sufficient resources to breakthrough.

Then we have a bunch of our Good Seeds trying to take up the slack in saving Juniors lives and preserving our Qi Condensation cultivators.

LOLOL, that trolling

I love the omake and the best part was the 10 secrets one. So click baity!

Some advice if you like, as the First Omake you can pick a specific boon such as LST etc And you should be good since it's before the Good Seed Report is done.

I would have made that the pick article, but I could not think of 10 "secrets".

Fifth Sea Interlude - The Luck of Aditi Randhawa
"Genius", her father-in-law called her.

"Peerless beauty", said her husband.

Aditi knew that neither were fully accurate, yet it was nice to hear the words.

Both had asked something else, too.

"Protect Chandi, Aditi. Please."

She was a foolish girl, and for all her foolishness Aditi cared for her. Chandi was no great talent, no genius, but she did have a certain sly cunning. She had earned a Token, and was qualified to enter the Trials, though she was forced to enter first. Usually those who entered first were knocked out first, the later entries being more difficult to hunt down and shatter their tokens. Almost three hundred thousand Prana Gathering cultivators, and Chandi was perhaps the least talented of those. Still, it was a good chance to earn good Karma, and such was incredibly valuable. Aditi had found a small statue of the Buddha that had somehow transferred a great amount of good Karma to her many years ago, and her path of cultivation had been smoothed ever since. She had worked hard, as luck only took you so far, but it had been no small thing.

Her thoughts had run away on her. She was currently sneaking around an inn, her ear pressed down against the floor in a room she had rented under an assumed name, trying to listen to a conversation.

Her luck had brought her here. Two Dharma Shaping cultivators had decided to head here, and she had fortuitously seen a gap in the inn's sound-muffling arrays two weeks earlier. Not visible unless you knew where to look, but once you saw the gap you could listen to anyone in the inn. She grinned. Luck was such a useful thing to have.

Two voices sounded out, both rich and deep.

"...the last remnant of the Naag must be exterminated."

"Yes, Prince-"

"No names."

"Of course, of course. If I might be so bold to ask... why?"

A chuckle.

"Just know the merits that will accrue to my name with the end of the Naag will be incredible. Why, the... well, never mind. You don't need to know. Let me just say this. I have won you a token. Do not kill any of their 'Nascent Soul' cultivators, despite them being on the same level as you. You must bend your every talent to finding the Ninth Prince and killing him. Do that, and Heaven's favor will look like a single coin against the bounty I will give."

She strained more to hear. This was good stuff! Not blackmail material, but enough to trade back home. Her own Atman Manifest family head would pay her generously for even rumours of this sort, and it would mean more advancement for her.

Suddenly the energy around the two cultivators flared.

She hadn't thought this through. They spoke about being equal to Nascent Soul... Aditi cursed under her breath. If they'd said Atman Manifest she would have realised, but the unfamiliar term had led her to ignore it.

Moments later she found herself dragged out of the room by a thread of Qi, flesh bruising and bones fracturing as her body was simply torn down the stairwell, into a room below.

Shocked and bleeding, she looked up. Two men stood at a table, one was unfamiliar. He bowed and stepped away immediately, leaving the room within moments.

The other-

Patriarch Bhrigu's grandson! What was his name? She couldn't recall, in all the pain and fear. Was she going to die here? Surely not, not with her luck. It would be a mere moment along the road of cultivation, something she could survive with a moment's courtesy.

He looked at her with disinterested eyes.

"Your name, girl?"

She quivered with fear, not speaking.

He sighed, and raised a hand. Her world was more pain all of a sudden, and she looked down. Her left hand was gone, separated neatly from her arm at the wrist.

"I can keep removing limbs. I can reattach them as well, if you speak quickly enough. Do you want to be crippled for life?"

"Aditi. Aditi Randhawa."

"Branch?"

"From my grandfather's grandfather's father, named Shining Vessel. My grandfather's grandfather was-"

He cut her off. Not with words, but her mouth simply ceased to work, a tremendous pressure holding her body as though it were about to burst.

"Unimportant, then. A spy. Old Shining Vessel is yet to manifest Atman, so I doubt you were here on his orders. Whose were they?"

She whimpered, and remembered to speak, looking down at her hand lying on the ground. She should have been bleeding. Why wasn't she bleeding?

"Nobody's. I... I just wanted to listen. I thought it might be valuable information."

The man smiled, his lips thin, painted black. What a strange thing to focus on, she thought.

"You are correct, girl. It's incredibly valuable information. So valuable, in fact, that..."

He shook his head.

"If time were not of the essence, I would keep you here and enjoy you before killing you. But there are things to be arranged. Shining Vessel will have to be satisfied with the disappearance of his descendent. I doubt anybody of real importance will be concerned, in any case."

Aditi's breath grew ragged. He was going to kill her. She felt her will reaching out, trying to reach a small token on her belt. If she could shatter it...

Oh.

Her belt was gone.

Her legs and what looked like a trail of her guts were halfway across the room, blood streaming out.

The man looked at her, smiling more widely now, satisfied.

She couldn't breathe. Why couldn't she breathe?

She looked up, eyes straining to move.

Thoughts flickered through her head. Her husband, the children she'd never had. Her mother, father, all these...

It didn't make sense, but in the last moment, she thought one thing.

"I'm sorry, Chandi. I won't be able to protect you after all."

Tears ran down her face. It didn't make sense, but she couldn't even keep her promise. She couldn't...

----------

Bhrigu's grandson, named Bhrigu himself, looked down at the head. With a moment's effort he moved the corpse into his aperture. He preferred not to kill dynasty members directly, but given he had no choice... this one would make a fine corpse guardian. Blood reanimation was far easier when you shared a dynasty, after all. Hopefully grandfather wouldn't find out, he thought. He'd been forced into closed-door cultivation for a decade after the fracas with that Naag woman, and while this wasn't nearly as bad, such arts were technically forbidden.

He laughed.

Still, it didn't matter for much longer. Once the Ninth Prince was dead, why, his grandfather wouldn't matter much longer.

Erm wow. I guess the idea i had of her being the cunning one that benefited from the death of others is as dead as her.

Also wow. That sudden escalation in threat on what Ninth Prince will be facing.
The Trials have been rolled, and Trial updates will be coming over the next few days. Somewhere between 2-5 updates, depending on how my plotlines work out.
IT IS TIME BRETHREN! THE TIME TO SEE FOR WHO THE BELLS HAVE TOLLED FOR!

Time to see if my omakes payoff! I think i did like at least 12k worth of words for this turn and i hope they're at least of the same value as a 6K Quality Omake 😰

Well, I put in 'hunting good seeds' sooooooo

Might have to make a new character soon :V

Well if I didnt have my goatman good sead allready writen on a notepad redy to be posted as soon as this turn officaly ends I would be tempted to make a a seed that comes from one of the reminants that came with 9th Prince.

Edit: Witnesing a brutal murder of your lord is hell of a motivator. (Ignore the fact that we do not know the specifics on how things went)

Looks nervously at his own 8k of omakes. I feel you.

Good luck Xiao Yi! May your rage carry you forth.

Gnaws fingernails. I have 2 lifesaving treasures, why am I still worried? 😨

Wow, Ninth Prince is in big trouble.

However, this Bhrigu guy is throwing up a few death flags. I'm expecting him to find Ninth Prince, only to be ambushed and crippled/killed by our main man, Konstantinos. This is a likely scenario since Bhrigu isn't gunning for Konstantinos but our Archegetes might decide to enter the action since he usually is forced to sit and watch as his clansmen fight for their lives without him being able to help them directly.

Wouldn't it be grand if Konstantinos somehow manages to kill this Bhrigu fellow and gain whatever "Nascent Soul"-level treasures they might be hiding in their aperture?

I'm already preparing :V

I just wrote like 1.5K worth of Omakes for the 2nd Good Seed which i'm banking so i can use it when i fill-up my 2nd good seed post here.

Actually, i think this will be a excellent starter for a Good Seed. He does own a town of Mortals and treats them well, so having a influx of like hundred cultivators coming from that town to gain strength so they can seek vengeance for their lord would be pretty cool.

Definitely something i would have consider if i didn't already have my 2nd Good Seed Idea planned out.

Haha i hope my is worth at least 6K words of your Omake Quality. 2 LST should mean you make it to the Yuan realm without problems!

I'm really leaving his survival in the hands of the RNG gods since i'm intentionally cutting off a escape road. But my 2nd Good Seed Concept is ready!

Let's look on the bright side - if we survive, next time we can say stuff like "You guys have it easy. Back in our day we had to deal with Nascent Soul cultivators."
