Hereafter [Worm x Fate/Grand Order]

So Olga Marie know about the whole God-killing.
It explain why she flipped when Taylor mentionned castrating a dragon she has realized she was literal and really done it and that it isn't the most impressive thing she had ever done.
And with all the wounds she saw on her she know she wasn't invulnerable like Siefrieg while doing her exploits.

Well. We learned a lot here.

I find it sort of amusing that I got it backward earlier. I wanted to know why and how Taylor was important enough to Olga Marie that she added her to Team A's ranks, directly interfering with her father's legacy. Turns out Taylor is important to Olga Marie because she's Olga Marie's addition to Team A.

I also like what it means for Olga Marie's character (both her motivations and her development) and for her relationship with Taylor that she chose to save Taylor's life. (I wonder whether Olga Marie would have made a different decision if she had the capability of being Servant Taylor's Master?)

There's something else nagging at me. Given who Fortuna is, how much of the choice she gave Olga Marie was really a choice? Did she honestly mean it, or did she manipulate Olga Marie into making Taylor a Master?

Also, Olga Marie's secret-keeping. That was a huge revelation. She even kept it from Lev! Taylor really is Chaldea's ace-in-the-hole. Does Taylor know that Olga Marie knows?

....I'm at a loss for words. Not really sure what I can say about all of that except....wow.

I wonder how Contessa (and maybe Cauldron?....nvm probably not them) found Chaldea. And how did Taylor react when she woke up, seeing that she was in another world.

I vote next chapter tomorrow.

Wonder if they manage to save Olga Marie at all or if they do, how?

Enjoy your break.

May we have the next chapter tomorrow, please?
A break of 2 weeks will feel less abrupt if the arc is finished first.

@James D. Fawkes It seems I'm in the minority, but wait the week. In my experience the more an author keeps to their schedule the less likely they are to drop the fic for two years.

So that's how Taylor joined Chaldea, Contessa dropped her off with Olga like a particularly awkward (and bleeding) sack of potatoes. Yeah, that certainly sounds like something Hat Lady would do. Though now that Olga mentioned it in the chapter... I wonder if Zelretch is aware of all the dimensional tomfoolery that was going on with the areas Zion had claimed? And if he is aware, how interested would he be in Taylor? I mean, she killed something which basically goes around EATING TYPES. I'd imagine he'd at least be impressed.

I'll second this. I'd much prefer not to be left on a cliffhanger. Plus, if you post it now then you won't have it at the back of your head distracting you from your vacation. Clear your docket and go enjoy yourself!

...huh. I wonder how much Path to Victory was pushing to what outcome by having Contessa mention Taylor as "the greatest Master" when that word has such very different meanings in Worm vs Fate.
Honestly, I was thinking the same thing. She certainly qualifies for it via Worm terminology, and she's working her way towards the same in Fate. She might just end up being one of the few people to ever save the multiverse twice over. :p

Heh, and it looks like Olga's investment in kindness is paying off. I doubt any of the other Masters would have put themselves on the line like that to pull Olga back from.... THAT. Not to mention the fact that Taylor gives Olga uncensored feedback and advice, not being a brownnoser or yes-woman, something EVERY good leader can appreciate.

This chapter was a really good character piece for Olga Marie. So many characters (and writers) can't resist dropping that piece of information for that moment of vindication or cool factor so I love that you both held it in. (One of yhe reasons I never really finish/post my own stories or omakes is cause I have that issue and struggle to make good work arounds that I like)

I'd prefer tomorrow just so we can have the break after a conclusion.

...

There's something else nagging at me. Given who Fortuna is, how much of the choice she gave Olga Marie was really a choice? Did she honestly mean it, or did she manipulate Olga Marie into making Taylor a Master?

...
considering what fortuna's power is, the fact she bothered with a question probably just means both paths would work, so in that aspect, it's probably a legit option, while suggesting it also informs Olga of just how important taylor will be, had she just explained taylor would be the best master, Olga wouldn't know taylor had managed to qualify for the throne. the second choice is probably entirely about that tbh, Olga would never go for the second option, yet fortuna suggested it, the only reason i can think of that makes sense then is that it stealthily informs Olga that Taylor has a heroic spirit somewhere and can act as a catalyst. I imagine it'll be important later. So it's probably legit, even if Olga would never go for it. It's a kind of non-option while maintaining the illusion of a choice, to be expected i guess. when it comes to fortuna, if someone suspects her of manipulating them, then that's what she wants you to think and so on.

This also cements my initial thoughts that the Servant she failed to summon was 'herself'. After all, with her trust issues who else would she call? It's not like any of her friends would have a shot of making it to the Throne.

I hate repeating myself so I'll just say you are flat out wrong. Look back through this thread for my posts if you want the why. I've explained it multiple times, in multiple ways that this is never an actual scenario that can occur. Ever.

It's not that it can't happen, no matter what, especially when "the world is ending" is a massive catalyst for someone like her. In fact, Khepri was one of Taylor's fears when she did her summoning, for a lot of reasons, not the least of which having to look in that mirror and seeing exactly how ugly the face looking back is (metaphorically). But if I were to involve Khepri in the story, she wouldn't be the shadow that haunts Taylor's steps, the ugly truth she can't escape and has to accept, because I've already written that story.

Having said that... I think you guys will get some pretty good guesses in about what's going on by the time Orleans proper is public (there're two chapters of downtime between Fuyuki and Orleans). A pretty huge clue drops there. But nothing will be confirmed for sure until maybe Babylonia. The whole thing might not even come out until the endgame in the Time Temple.
Have you seen An Essence of Silver and Steel?
Once this guy gets invested in a story, I don't think he's gonna drop it till it's done.
I've dropped several stories over the years. But I committed to Essence. I wanted to do it so I could prove to myself that I could finish it through everything. And I did. Through tough times, through upswings and downswings, through droughts and times of plenty, eventually, I managed to make it through. There are some old stories that plenty of people would prefer I went back and finished, but for various reasons, they'll probably languish as they are. Sadly, there just isn't enough interest in them to justify putting so much focus on them.

I already edited my comment and am heading to bed now. I was a moron who thought writing and reading should be done after being up nearly 24 hour like a poo poo head.
Don't feel too bad, the author notes were hidden and the comment in question is easily read before expanding the author notes. Said comment probably should have been expanded a bit to make clear it was referencing a vote that wasn't immediately obvious. Taken on its own it does read as somewhat offensive.

If it is done and your good to go, I say release early and get to your break.
I like the direction this took and now hope for more flashback interludes from various perspectives that will show us Taylor's time before the Singularities began.

This also cements my initial thoughts that the Servant she failed to summon was 'herself'. After all, with her trust issues who else would she call? It's not like any of her friends would have a shot of making it to the Throne.
Ignoring the fact that she's not compatible mentally with any version of herself Summoned as a heroic spirit, compatibility summoning, as she tried in fuyuki, summons someone who you just click with, even if some of her friends made it to the throne, it's doubtful they'd qualify for a compatibility summon. She's more likely to get a normal heroic spirit with a similar story to hers, with parallels and such, someone who can understand taylor and work with her. Also, even if it was herself, it wouldn't fail, she'd just get herself as a servant, it's happened before, though that required an actual catalyst.

Fair enough, and like I've said before I'm looking forward to seeing the reason even if it takes years. And I'll also repeat that I hope we see her permanent Servant soon, though you have said we should see them soon, so I'm sorry if that comes off as nagging.

I hope you consider committing to finishing this Fic as well. I think it has a ton of potential, which is one reason I've been so active in this thread.

I think that everyone has those, stories they've come up with but never finished, most people just never write them down. The most important thing to remember is that this is a hobby, not an obligation. You work on it as long as you have both the ability and desire to do so, and if either of those slip or you just wanna try something else, then the most important thing is still that you enjoy it while it lasts and that it lasts for as long as you enjoy it.

TLDR. Take your time if and when you need it, and work on what you enjoy doing.

This is actually something I've been having fun daydreaming about. Despite Cu saying that Taylor reminds him of his teacher, I don't think they'd click all that well. Yes, I think the two of them would respect each other but I can't see them "Playing nice with each other" as it were. My best guesses based on current compatibility are all Servants who were, well, my reasoning is kinda obvious: EMIYA, Vlad III, Medusa, and Hassan of the Serenity. I just think all of them could empathize with Taylor's problems of "The road to Hell is paved with good intentions" and feeling like a monster in the end.

But I got to thinking.... Just because I think these Servants have the most in common with her and they would resonate with one another, that doesn't necessarily mean that they would work best together. Especially considering Taylor's trust issues. So maybe the best Servant for her wouldn't be one like her, but one that can help her heal? One that could slip past her walls and actually form a connection with her despite being "expendable" like she was thinking of Cu there at the end. Does anyone have any suggestions that they think would be good fits? Personally, I'm giggling at the thought of Taylor summoning Elizabeth Bathory (any version), Jaguar Man, Astolfo, and Tamamo Cat. Ya know, just overwhelm her with insanity and happiness. Lord knows the poor girl could use more of the latter in her life.

If we want innocence and joy, I would nominate Voyager should votes be optional.

Nobunaga could do both the wacky happy and resonating. Especially Avenger Nobu. Which would fit, since it's fate and gags are the deepest lore.

Personally i think medusa has a good compatibility, did bad for good reasons, eventually got overtaken in their attempts to do 'good' by some part of themselves and becoming khepri and gorgon respectively, and lost everything as a consequence of that, similar fighting style (that being dodge tank, and 2 single handed weapons), enjoying books, similar trust issues while being fiercely loyal to those who gain it etc. If not for lancer medusa probably souring taylor on her, i can see her getting along with rider medusa and probably learn from her and vice versa. Helps she's a powerful and versatile servant.

Just had a thought; what if the servant she attempted to summon in Fuyuki is Goetia? I mean, the greatest Master deserve only the greatest familiars....
If this was a normal HGW, Taylor's possible Servant by sheer compatibility would have in these categories, Anti-Heroes, known to have been betrayed, God Killers like Salmon Man(Fionn mac Cumhaill) and outlaws like Billy the Kid and Yan Qing, possibly even pirates tbh.
If I remember Chaldea's key equipments in the Grand Order are all capitalized in their simplified names aside from Shadow Border, the unfinished invention Da Vinci have that had gone rogue in one particular event and the briefcase Ritsuka use to summon Servants.

Hnn, Emiya is a counter guardian so Summoning him under normal circumstances isn't possible. The same way Okitan shouldn't be Summonable nether should Emiya. Medusa never had any trust issues or good intentions, the only thing they have as a similarity is their monstrous transformation in that way I think she'd be compatible enough for a summoning and honestly I think they'd get along. Vlad is a Zealot and a king those two I would argue have the absolute WORSE compatibility solely based on Taylors need to be in control and biased perspective. Hassan of Serenity is also a maybe, she desires intimacy and companionship something that has been a pretty heavy motivator for Taylor even as she grew up into adulthood.

Based on Taylor's history I'd say she would be able to summon Scheherazade, Jason, Paracelsus, Charlotte Corday, Bartholomew, Blackbeard, Wu Zetian, Hecktor and Maybe Boudica, Spartacus or Arash on compatibility alone. Now I'm NA Gen so I don't know about Mandricardo, ROMA, Europa(I know jack shit about this lady) or Odysseus nor do I know if she has any compatibility with Morgan for the same reasons. I'm getting yes vibes from Mandricardo and I have read his myth so that's a firm maybe, same with Odysseus.

If there's anyone I'd like to see summoned I'd say Hans and Kiara, the fun those two would have Lmao. Maybe Kiyohime for extra Creep Value.
