Harry Potter and the Skittering Spouse

A fun speculation might be how useful Taylor's bug control talent would be in building microtech... Using them as micro manipulators and gaining micro-scale feedback... Odds are you could build some really nice (flying) micro-drones, and surveillance kit... Not to mention all sorts of fun gadgets, maybe with chitin as a useful structural element, if you got creative...

Remember, in canon, Taylor's armor plates were made up of layered chitin and a good epoxy blend.

On FFN, ack1308 has a story "Hope Comes to Brockton Bay" wherein Taylor makes use of her bug control powers to make remote controlled devices that are essentially jam-proof. Her minions can easily push and pull levers, move slides, and press buttons or move switches while completely hidden from view. There might be others in his story "Security" but that story has more synergy between Panacea and Skitter to make ketamine wasps and other genetically engineered bugs.

I noticed that during this meeting, Taylor didn't really say much about how ineffective the "No killing the bad guys" strategy of the first Blood War was and they were losing members in combat due to it while the opposition kept growing because they knew they wouldn't be killed.

She's hopefully saving it for another meeting if there's serious pushback against the "Take them out now" plans once they are fully presented. At this meeting, she mostly made them start taking her and Harry seriously and got them to agree to consider their plans for the Death Eaters.

I also look forward to seeing Taylor dismantle Dumbledore's "they must be given a second chance so they can be redeemed" ideology.

You know, would QA look at a Bowtruckle and go, "Okay, I'm calling that a stick insect, Mine now!"

Because Taylor being able to find usually wand wood quality trees would be a nice little way to make money.

Compare that to Walmart's entry to German Markets..
For those not aware, Walmart's top management is extremely anti-union, and Germany's constitution categorically forbids their usual anti-union activities. "No problem," thought the executives. "We'll just change the German constitution." The German constitution does not give the populace the right to oppose its subversion. It imposes a duty to do so by any and all means necessary, up to and including armed opposition.

It's much harder to successfully abuse your employees if they're unionized. That's why they in particular, and most large companies in general, will lay off (read: fire) employees who try to unionize.

I will go ahead and throw in my two cents into the discussion, I like some of @Fencer work. He has some interesting ideas for stories or answers some prompts in his own way. I respect him as an author and creator as he doesn't shy away from criticism or changing his work when things are pointed out that are incorrect/worded oddly/ect. I don't agree with some of the authors tracks that he goes down in his work but those are his views and HE is writing the story. Thank you @Fencer for all the stories you write, I just wanted to let you know that the growth I have seen in your writing has been inspiring. Keep up the good work, and learning!

Much appreciated, the old saying goes that you can't please everyone, so I really do appreciate that even someone who might not like everything I decide to do can appreciate the effort and results :)

Audience input time folks. Should Bill, as a curse breaker, know what Harry and Taylor are suggesting. If any profession was going to come with a warning about soul jars it's curse breaking. But he never seemed to suspect in canon. He could theoretically be useful in a few ways. Plausible reason to get the damn thing out of the vaults, hand wavy solution to tracking down all those yet to be found ala soul compass.

Or should I stay my original course and let Taylor get creative in her application of information the room of requirement can plausibly supply her. Honestly asking because for all Taylor's battlefield innovations and ability with people I don't think we ever see her jump into any kind of tech. Which doesn't necessarily mean she's incapable of such because she basically hit the ground running and never stopped.

I'm on the fence so feed me your thoughts that I might pick this apart from more angles please.

If anyone should know about soul jars, it should be the curse breaker that worked in Egypt, the place that had a lot of beliefs about the soul and how it worked. I refuse to believe only European dark wizards in history actively used the concept.

I think it makes a lot of sense for him to have at least heard some rumours and stories. Perhaps he knows an older curse breaker who encountered something similar. But he doesn't necessarily have to be that knowledgeable himself. I like the idea that he is helpful and gets involved but he still needs to do a bit of research and investigating. Kind of explains canon while still keeping him useful.

I think Bill knowing about, if not hocruxes, then at least knowing that souls can be made to linger, is within the setting. Even if he doesn't know about them, a curse breaker who digs through magically protected tombs would be the perfect person to hunt down the horcruxes.

I think he just didn't have enough information in canon, between Molly and Fleur focusing on the wedding so much, and being out of the country for a lot of the time.

I never really got why Dumbles was so insistent on secrecy in canon either, it really would have helped so much to just talk to people. Seriously, if bonds with others are what makes Harry different from Voldemort (and going along with the wonky assumption that that's the only difference) why keep Harry isolated?

Leading question, is there any reason not to go with both options? Clue Bill in, but only let him chase the ones that Taylor couldn't reasonably manage in the style you already have planned? I like the idea of bringing in Bill because it gets one of the Weasleys and another of the adults on Taylor and Harry's side, but never at the cost of taking Fun away from the actual lead characters.

Definitely figure he should be at least familiar with the concept, but he probably hasn't personally encountered one.

Yeah that's probably the best solution.

What they said. If an ordinary curse breaker should know about these, then that goes double for one who works with Egyptian curses.
