Harry Potter and the Skittering Spouse

Acerent in tenebris omnia, nisi dicturum lumen accederet
Ironically enough, Ginny's jealousy in this fic can make her something besides her canonical Mary Sue. With that in mind, have an omake with an unintentional confundus charm.

The two Potters were hot, sweaty, and breathing heavily. Harry, for once had a genuine smile on his face. And that killed her. More than the fact that he was with another woman, the fact that he was happy with her. She had hoped prayed figured that eventually he would somehow manage to work things out with some rare form of magic to anull the marriage and get rid of the bitch and get back together with her. If that was not bad enough, the words they said killed any further chance of Harry even wanting to.

"I think we should take this to the next level," Harry said his wife. A coy smile, full of teeth was the response.

"I thought you would never ask," the excitement clear and evident in her tone and body language. The two of them *skipped* up the stairs, shut the door and put some sound muffling charms up. In their haste though, the charm was not as complete as it should have been. She heard "Stop" through the magic, but she knew that the "don't" was already there.

She wanted her mommy. After explaining what she saw, her mom said nothing, only reached into the cold-box for Fortescue's heartbreak special.

"Sweetheart, he is married. I know it's hard, and we already had your wedding dress picked out, and as much as I want you to be happy, that path is closed. Harry could no more leave her at this point than Arthur could leave me," Molly tried to comfort her daughter. Unfortunately, that just started the water works up again. Molly hugged her child, and planned to ensure that Taylor and Harry had some excess cayenne pepper in their next meal.

A few hours later, they were all sitting down for dinner together at Order HQ. Taylor and Harry did not show any outward signs that anything changed between them. Had she not known any better, she still would have thought the two were still virgins.

"So, you guys do anything exciting today?" Ron asked.

"Oh, we captured and interrogated Galloway? Callahan? Caldwell?" Taylor tried to remember the name of the death eater they captured and tortured.

"You mean Carrow?" Harry corrected.

"Yeah, the guy with the snake tatoo on his arm. For someone so willing to commit violence, he was kind of a push over. He started begging me to stop after a little bit of knife play. He still even had all of his fingers,' Taylor commented.

"You do realize that was after you crushed 3 of his toes?" Harry added.

"I mean you guys don't have a Panacea, but I fought a giant water monster with a broken leg. I'm just saying his pain tolerance is surprisingly low. Regardless, lets focus on the meal for now" Taylor commented.

"Speaking of which, my compliments to the chef. The cayenne adds a nice kick. If you want, I can try to import some Carolina Reapers along with my spiders if you want a stronger pepper than cayenne," Taylor offered trying to make amends.

"Huh. I thought I heard someone screaming stop earlier, but I thought it was something else," Ginny admitted, finally realizing what had happened. And a coy grin came upon her face. She knew she wasn't out of it yet.

Heh, got a title for this or should I just dream one up?

Acerent in tenebris omnia, nisi dicturum lumen accederet

I'm trying to work on my Latin, so I'm hoping that translates to all things would lie in shadows if talking didn't bring it to light. Something along those lines at anyrate. If you think it doesn't fit the tone, feel free to change it, but I hadn't really thought of it until you asked.

It's your omake man I'm not going to argue about what you want to call it, that'd be silly. Congrats you have been thread marked!

I kept my mouth shut for now, content to soak in the chaos and debates. Harry did in fact have a decent head for this when he stopped to think, and Mad-Eye at least was willing to answer the questions we had that kept stalling our own planning sessions. Now the ball was in the hands of Dumbledore and the Order. There wasn't much else for us to do until they sorted themselves out and decided how they would proceed.
Something makes me think that Moody will be visiting them a LOT in the upcoming days so he can get in on all the plotting they've been doing, which will be absolutely fantastic for everyone involved.

Unfortunately, if Dumbledore finds this out, he'll insist on others being there, too, which will put an end to some of the most vicious (and important) planning sessions.

Let's see where this goes.

Ow.

10: An experiment with combining magic, AI, and femtotech goes out of control, but luckily goes horribly right, resulting in a System. In a further twist of lucky fate, the benevolent AI and Dumbledores spirit overpower, destroy most of, and then combine with the Spirit of Evolution Through Conflict that was naturally created by magic to inhabit the system. QA is sad it can't connect to this gestalt being that tries to help Wizard-kind survive as best they can, while also being forced to cause natural disasters and magical beast tides.

Congrats on being one of the few writers who get that nanotech is the first step of ultra-miniaturization and not the last step. With quantum and sub-quantum tech also being steps to the ultimate in miniaturized tech which would be Plancktotech because reality cannot be subdivided past those units according to some physicists.

Edited to clarify a few points.

Like Roger Penrose said, "There's plenty of room at the bottom."

That said, I loved the confrontation with Snape and how most of the Order reacted when Taylor showed her hand. I look forward to how she and Moody will interact in future chapters.

Worm I got through, but Pact? Holy fuck no three failed attempts and after that I stopped trying to read any of Wildbow's new work.

I could never finish the canon Worm. As I've said in other threads, it makes me want to throw the story away with great force, and I can't afford to replace my computer...

I don't know why I keep getting those two mixed up, thanks for the correction, Ace Dreamer!

I'm somewhat sure that it was also quoted in "Surely You're Joking, Dr. Feynman" which is what the woman hosting an English Tea said when she asked him, "do you want cream or lemon in your tea and he absently replied "Both." It's been well over twenty-five years so I've probably misremembered that too.

I probably shouldn't have, it was too much of a drain on my mental health. If I'd known back then what I do now I'd just have read the synopsizes and skipped to the fanfics.

Or move those planning sessions to secret ones. Which would make them even more wild and less of what Dumbles wants.

This is just me being overly nitpicky about a comedic omake, but development of the Carolina Reaper didn't start until 2001, and wasn't complete until the early 2010s. It wouldn't've been available to import in the late '90s.
Indeed. It is also unlikely to have happened at all on earth-bet either, due to everything but mostly the economic situation discouraging the development of ridiculously hot peppers mostly for bragging rights.
Besides, scotch bonnets, which are delicious while also being much hotter than dried cayenne if not quite as thermonuclear as reapers, would definitely be available in the nearest Caribbean import shop.

More accurate, on my part, would have been a reference to nanotech, with a comment on needing femtotech, not picotech, as the next step, because another 10^-3 wasn't enough to start with messing with the components of atomic nuclei... Of course, how safe that is, with most of the energies being in the hard gamma ray spectrum... What might be used for shielding is an interesting question...

Glad to be of assistance...

A fun speculation might be how useful Taylor's bug control talent would be in building microtech... Using them as micro manipulators and gaining micro-scale feedback... Odds are you could build some really nice (flying) micro-drones, and surveillance kit... Not to mention all sorts of fun gadgets, maybe with chitin as a useful structural element, if you got creative...

Isn't that the motto of fanfiction in general?
It's supposed to be.

But some fanfic writers are either too afraid or too uncreative to let go of the training wheels that is Canon, or they are too insecure of their own opinion and so get browbeaten by the opinions of their readers on what their story should be like.

The big reason for those, is usually because those writers only write stories for other people to enjoy, rather than writing what they themselves enjoy.
Commission Writers suffer from this the most. Cause when someone is paying you to write what they want, you are obligated to do it even if you hate it.
Well, if you accept the money ahead of time anyway.

Edit: Some people seem to be missing the point.
I would like to clarify that I used the words Some Fanfic Writers, not All Fanfic Writers.
Sadly, I seem to have cut too close to the bone for a few people and they may have felt attacked.
Oops.
I wasn't specifying anyone. I was responding to the post I quoted, but in the abstract, not referring to anything the quoted post was responding to.

Also, I usually don't Watch and Like stories that suffer what I was referring to.
I also don't post in those threads.

Look when you dip your toes into a new fandom and people tell you to kill yourself for not shipping their OTP? Yes, a writer needs to know when to tell the audience to shut up and shove off because sometimes people want stupid things or things that don't make sense or something at odds with the story you want to tell, but let's not pretend there aren't reasons why writers pay attention to readers. Getting hate spewed your way is never fun, especially bot when someone attacks something you sunk heart and soul into. And on the less extreme end of the spectrum, I got as good as I am because I listened to audience criticism. It taught me, helped me grow. And while I absolutely write because I enjoy it that doesn't change the fact that I'm a bit of praise whore and if my stories got no attention at all I'd probably stop posting them even though I'd probably keep writing. It's not a black and white issue.

Edit: I'm not taking the comment personally I'm just saying that I've run into this issue from multiple angles personally and seen it hit others far more. So I do sort of feel the need to defend other writers even if how they handle the pressures isn't how I handle them.

Wasn't referring to you buddy.
Your stories tend to be pretty dang good.

For what it's worth, I tend to just drop a Like unless I have a strong opinion or it's a Quest, otherwise you can take it that I enjoyed it. I will say that I much enjoyed Taylor and Harry outplaying Snape like they did, it's one of my favorite type of scenes. I was meaning to post about that but happened to read it real quick before work and forgot to come back and say something after my shift.

Wasn't taking it personally, just meant it as a general thing. I can understand why some writers are cautious or prone to reactions like deleting there work or stopping all writing.

You're fine, I'm a big boy that's been at this for years. All I ever need to do is look at the number of people watching my threads to know I'm appreciated. More is appreciated sure but it's not expected. Not like I comment on every story I read either.

You write what you choose to write well…I hope my comments show in their snarky way how entertaining I find your works. Only reason 'Force Made Easy' doesn't get more attention from me, is me trying to keep my own SW fic internally consistent and you present some ideas that I like a lot, but don't fit the vision I've lain out in Bladesinger.

Very nice stories you wrote fencer my dude.

My guy your stories are very popular, you should proud. Your stories are popular because of their high quality, my pal.

Buddy, you did a good job.
😂Thank you @Functionality your skills as a beta are greatly appreciated by me and all my thousands of readers, share in my victory, and drink deep from the well of joy that springs forth from the people with each tale told! 😁
