America really doesn't make a good showing here, do they?

America is basically full-on (if highly ineffectual) Evil Empire throughout this entire series. It's the kind of thing that makes me wonder if somebody on the writing staff was trying to work out some lingering issues regarding WWII or something. :p

SymphoGear #9
Oh dear. Flashback sequence. I'm pretty sure Miku was in the explosion. And Hibiki's reeling enough from the shock that she's wide open to incoming Noise...
...who Bluewing and Chris cut down, having arrived just a bit too late.
Chris's "Say hello to my Gatling" song continues to be pfft. Her blaming herself for activating the Noise Gunner, not so much.
NERV's entertainingly wrong about what happened; they're assuming Vera third party intervened to stop the alliance between America and FINE, rather than the Americans trying the same thing they tried on Fine.
Between Hibiki's despair over Miku's death, Chris's self-blame, Green's existential crisis, and Maria really not coping well with having killed some Americans, ANGST FOR EVERYONE!
GODDAMNIT VER. I can see you're trying to hammer in a gigantic wedge between the FINE symphogears and Old Lady from here easily. The question is whether they can see through it as well.
Chris's attempt to have a heart-to-heart with Bluewing runs into the issue of her being in S1mode again. So much for that.
Seems both NERV and my impression were right. Even without the American betrayal Ver was going to ruin it.
Well that was unexpected. Goddamnit Maria. Can you not see that you really shouldn't trust Ver as far as you can throw him?
Ver has assumed direct control. Green and Purple, on the other hand, are being wary. Unlike Maria.
...Wait, guest?
Reports of Miku's death were greatly exaggerated. FINE's captured her. Do they need her as bait for the NERV Symphogears or something?
NERV has also figured this out. Hibiki's out of despair-wait, I recognise this music from somewhere that isn't here.
And Chris is lampshading the Commander's sudden musical number. Just before Hibiki joins in.
Oh, is this another training montage like the S1 one?
Back at FINE, Miku's survival is revealed: Thanks to flashbacks to her sister's death, Maria drilled through the wall and gave her a "COME WITH ME IF YOU WANT TO LIVE". Miku agreed.
...Ver, what are you wanting with Miku?
Purple's having trouble putting together Maria-who-was-nice-to-everyone with the sudden turn she's taking, Green's angsting over Fine, and Hibiki's having Gugnir-induced heart issues out of transformation. Lovely.
Seems the US are headed to Frontier. Damnit Maria, stop being a HARD WOMAN.
She's down to doubling down on the Fine thing to keep going. I suspect she has more doubts than she shows.
Noise attacking the US ship, Hibiki tries to head out to help. Chris stops that boneheaded decision, while Maria appears to have bitten her lip enough to draw blood.
Aaand Purple's heading down to kill Noise, presumably against orders, given how Ver's using the opportunity to tempt Green into something.
Some Noise dead. Green just shot her with the LINKER.
Okay, Anti-Linker. Borne from the Fine Angst. She wants Shirabe/Purple to remember her when Fine takes over fully.
[NERVgear INTERRUPT]. They swiftly have Shirabe captured(Chris wants the Noise Gunner location), and Kirika at swordpoint. Ver's apparently about to deploy his sense of drama.
...Is that another Symphogear?
MIKU. SYMPHOGEAR. WHAT THE HELL.

Oh, is this another training montage like the S1 one?

The Symphogirls have various brands of J-Pop as their theme music. The Commander has Kantonese shout-out songs.

...Is that another Symphogear?
MIKU. SYMPHOGEAR. WHAT THE HELL.

AHAHAHAHAAHAHAHAH.

THIS. This is the biggest cliffhanger of G, I'd say. Because holy fuck it comes out of nowhere, and is a ridiculous "oh fuck" twist. Not to mention that her Gear, as you'll see next episode is awesome.

Actually, here. The BD disks apparently included a transformation sequence for Miku, and it's...interesting.

SymphoGear #10
MIKU. SYMPHOGEAR. WHAT THE HELL.
MIKU HAS JOINED THE SYMPHOGEAR SECTION OF THE OPENING. SHE HAS A JAGGED CYCLOPS VISOR.
Also, they've updated Adam to the S2 Engine form.
EXPLANATIONS. All Lydian students have at least some Symphogear potential. Ver tricked her into putting on the Symphogear, shoved her full of LINKER, and used her desire to stop Hibiki from fighting to aim her where he wants.
And because of LINKER, NERV can't afford to go all-out if they want Miku to survive. Lovely.
Chris's engaging. Bluewing's keeping Kirika from interfering.
The Mirror's apparently on autopilot. Miku's no match for the experienced Symphogers. Which isn't exactly good for her health, methinks.
Should I recognise Miku's weapon? It seems familiar from somewhere else.
Ver's wired it so forced removal of the Gear kills Miku. Fuck you Ver.
Aaand Miku busts out a mirror for a flashbang. Then a bigger mirror. With a song.
MIRROR BLAST apparently surpasses Kadingr. Reflectors aren't cuttting it. though that might be because Chris isn't on Swansong.
Miku's song is definitely about Hibiki aaand it just took a turn to the possessive.
There goes the reflectors. Bluewing's spamming giant swords and the beam's still unharmed to the point where she can't dodge. So we go upwards.
Ver's spamming Noise again after Miku fired on Shirabe. I somehow doubt FINE's keeping all their Symphogears for long with Ver in charge.
Yeep. Ver's fully willing to sacrifice Kirika. Fuck you Ver.
Wait, no, delaying action. Where is Miku going?
NERVBOAT's surfaced for saving who they can-What the hell did you just do Manager.
MANAGER IS RUNNING ON WATER WHAT THE HELL.
And Kirika's chained Bluewing and is going for the kill. Except swordrain swiftly dodges that.
Apparently, the Mirror degrades any power sourcing from relics. I guess this is what you lot meant by Hibiki being the second-best anti-Symphogear unit?
One of the dead Americans left behind his family locket. Chris is not taking this well.
...Hibiki vs Miku faceoff. Not much I can actually say.
Miku's been taken in by Ver and is stuck on not letting Hibiki fight. Hibiki won't let this cost be paid for supposed peace.
2.40 until Hibiki's presumably overtaken by Gugnir. She doesn't have long to win this.
[SHIROU 'PEOPLE DIE WHEN THEY ARE KILLED' EMIYA INTENSIFIES]. Hibiki's trying to use her status as second-best anti-Symphogear unit to disable Miku without frying her.
Miku's gained lasermirrors. Hibiki's apparently mastered midair dodging.
Being pragmagtic, Maria's taking advantage to focus the stray fire back down on Frontier.
Crystal growth is literally coming out of Hibiki's everywhere. Given I don't fancy survival rates from that, Miku is not taking it well, and her visor's opened.
One punch, and the Mirror's weaponry is shattered. Then Hibiki dives directly into the path of the refracted beam.
I think that beam knocked Miku out of transformation, but more importantly, Frontier is rising. All has gone according to keikaku. And this...isn't quite a cliffhanger?
Huh. Miku's patterning in the ending has hearts-wait, post-credit scene?
Ah, Ancient Gear Island has raise-GUNSHOTS?!
CHRIS YUKINE WHAT THE UNHOLY HELL ARE YOU DOING?!

MIRROR BLAST apparently surpasses Kadingr. Reflectors aren't cuttting it. though that might be because Chris isn't on Swansong.

Yeah, pretty much. Miku, or more accurately, the Shenshou Jing Gear, is the best in the show precisely because it's specifically Anti-Relic. Which is what Hibiki is counting on - after all, it's a Relic itself, so getting caught in its own blast would destroy it.

Miku's song is definitely about Hibiki aaand it just took a turn to the possessive.

This is the part where they pretty much throw out the tease and go "yeah so they're a couple".

MANAGER IS RUNNING ON WATER WHAT THE HELL.

Well, you see...

Fun fact: He's a ninja and apparently belong to a servant clan of the main Kazanari Family IIRC. Also, Tsubasa's Shadow Pinning technique was learnt from him.

...fuck Ninja'd. But yeah, everything he does can be safely filed under "Ninja Tricks" (tm).

2.40 until Hibiki's presumably overtaken by Gugnir. She doesn't have long to win this.

Here's a fun fact that I didn't notice until a lot later - if you go back to when they start the countdown, look at the time stamp, and then go to the timestamp when the timer hits zero, two minutes and forty seconds worth of time has passed in the episode itself (including the flashback to the "explain the plan" bit). They completely averted the Magic Countdown trope, which I give them massive props for.

Crystal growth is literally coming out of Hibiki's everywhere. Given I don't fancy survival rates from that, Miku is not taking it well, and her visor's opened.

Aaaand the Heaven's Feel Shirou parallels CONTINUE.

CHRIS YUKINE WHAT THE UNHOLY HELL ARE YOU DOING?!

Doing what's right by her.

America is basically full-on (if highly ineffectual) Evil Empire throughout this entire series. It's the kind of thing that makes me wonder if somebody on the writing staff was trying to work out some lingering issues regarding WWII or something. :p
Well, in season one they were more faking being evil to trick Fine into revealing herself. They were collaborating in secret with Genjuro the entire time.
wait, I recognise this music from somewhere that isn't here.
And Chris is lampshading the Commander's sudden musical number. Just before Hibiki joins in.
Oh, is this another training montage like the S1 one?
Gotta love the fact that they can sing the main theme of Jackie Chan's Police Story film series (in its original Cantonese no less) while also blatantly ripping off the training montage from Rocky :)

As always, it helps to remember the NERV personnel were recruited for being action movie protagonists. Sadly they end up largely sidelined because this is a magical girl show.

There's actually a scene in the OVA where Miku looks at a recording of the fight and freaks out because her song was so obviously yuri.

You don't say.

Waikyou Shenshou Jing said:
Your left hand slips
From the grip of my fingers
You know, I want to
Protect you as well

And our nostalgic memories
The melody that binds us together
It's been like that in the past and the present
And it will be like that in the future too
I won't ever let you go
I won't let you go anywhere far
I love you this much
Look how much I love you

SymphoGear #11
Bluewing's been shot, the arrested Shirabe asks NERV to save everyone, and Frontier's apparently a floating ship-thing, judging by the energy-thingy currently underwater.
With Frontier unveiled, the USA is apparently moving in. That'll end well, given FINE's possession of the Noise Gunner. Did they think this through?
Both Hibiki and Miku are now fine, apart from resuidal crystal wounds for Hibiki. Refraction Beam apparently nuked any trace of Symphogears from both of them. But when are we going to learn what the hell happened with Chris?
Miku has the same question. The answer: She's apparently defected to FINE. What the hell, Chris?!
FINE's not entirely trusting her, either. ADAM's S2 is promptly used to boot up Frontier. Why does giving it energy cause plant growth?
KirikaAngst.exe. Meanwhile, Bluewing didn't dodge any vital shots. I suspect Chris held back to avoid hurting a friend too badly.
Aaaand Ver just injected himself with ADAM. If this results in Giant Naked Kirika, I'm going to be annoyed.
....Alright, I was slightly wrong. It's Giant Naked Ver Hand. And he's throwing the moon downwards. What the actual fuck Ver?!?
Incidentally, are the Custodians aliens or something else? I think this is the first time I've heard them mentioned.
Wait, no, the Giant Naked Ver cancelled, and Old Lady's planning to stop him. Frontier will now proceed to fully rise. There goes another NERV base.
Ver has officially gone Mad With Power. That's a lot of dead Americans.
Ver, I'm not sure what definition of hero you're using, but you aren't it.
And the reporter's dead too. There goes the Live TV Stream.
Yep. Ver sped up the descent of the Moon to bring up Frontier. Even Maria's going "What the actual fuck Ver?!?".
And now he's adding insult to injury by dismantling her self-esteem. Fuck you Ver.
..."Rebuilding the small population of survivors"? I can see the implications. Fuck. You. Ver.
NERV has deployed Bike Bluewing, but they still have only one active weilder against FINE's three. They're badly outnumbered.
Hibiki points out they have another. Commander points out her Gear got nuked. She's not talking about herself.
Shirabe still thinks Hibiki's a hypocrite. One Cliffnotes Backstory later, Hibiki explains that they're going to let her choose. Shirabe has chosen to fight with them.
...You've literally just met Commander, Shirabe. There's been no time for him to change. Commander's spotted the oddity, too.
The D-Wheel returns. Why is Hibiki tagging along on the fight? She lacks Gugnir, Noise kinda oneshot her again.
And that's literally everyone else's response. Meanwhile, a rain of arrows interrupts Bluewing's call. Damnit Chris.
While Chris is facing Bluewing, Kirika's arrived to face Shirabe. Hibiki's going to be left alone to infiltrate Frontier, isn't she?
...Shirabe's eyes were just yellow. And we just got a Fine flashback. I'm getting the feeling that Kirika's Fine angst is...misplaced.
I think that's duet snippets from both fights. Ver's cackling, Maria's despairing.
And we end with Old Lady having found a way to stop the moon's fall. There's hope for Maria.
Oh hey, the songs are actually listed in the credits. Only one that's actually readable is the one mentioned as Kirika/Shirabe's songs earlier, so I'd assume that's one duet.

Yup, they had a duet, "Edge Works of Goddess ZABABA". It's a mash-up of their individual songs.

Pretty sure that Fine mentioned the Custodians back in season one. Seems to be the guys who set up the whole moon language curse thing.
