Lol, I'm pretty sure that the font of green's attacks isn't even meant to be legible by a sane person :V

Some subs do say what her attack's are actually called though.

I've actually had that say theory about the words of the activation songs and the Swan Song before, but there's no elaboration on that yet.

S2CA works because the Swan Song's recoil is basically caused by being well enough synced with a Relic to use it, but not 100% perfectly synced with it. Being fused with Gungnir makes Hibiki much, much closer to 100% sync rate than anyone else, which reduces how much recoil the Swan Song does.

Thus, the whole suicide attack aspect of the Swan Song is only true for people like Kanade (Redwing), who need to shoot up on drugs in order to get their sync rate high enough to even activate a Gear. Their sync rate is lower, so the recoil they take is higher.

And we're given the names of the other two Symphogears. Purple is Shul Shagaha, which I've never heard of, while Green is Ig Alima, which I have heard of as the fuckhuge blade of fuckhugeness in Prisma.

They're apparently pair weapons for an ancient Mesopotamian god, but Google produces remarkably little to back this up so I can't really confirm otherwise.

Checking, seems every Gugnir has the gauntlets. The spear in the OP indicates Maria probably doesn't use them.

I'm pretty sure the Gauntlets are kinda the passive form of the Armed Gear - if you go back and watch Kanade's one fight, the gauntlets turn into the spear, and I believe Maria's is summoned the same way? I think it's less that Gugnir comes with gauntlets as much as the gauntlets are the standard "sheathed" form of the actual spear-weapon.

I recently noticed that when Hibiki does the S2CA Triburst thing, both gauntlets end up on one hand. It's an interesting thing to note - they're not really an activated Armed Gear, but they still function like them.

If it helps, Purple and Green have songs entitled "Hell Scythe - Ig Alima" "Saw of Ashes - Shul Shagana" and "Edge Works of Goddess ZABABA"

It's not a spoiler to say that they'll sing at some point in the season, right?

As for the relics...
Uh, let's see...

Right. To paraphrase that one Symphogear fan-site...
Turns out there are a bunch of different interpretations cause of a bunch of gods with different names across different cultures.

There was a Sumerian storm god, right? Dude's name was Ningirsu. Dude was married to Bau/Baba. His sons were Igalimma, and Sulsagana - a gatekeeper and butler, respectively. However, Ig-aima and Sul-sagana were also scimitars belonging to Zababa, a Mesopotamian War God. They meant red blade/green blade, respectively.

SymphoG #3
Bluewing said Swan Song for the Triburst, right? That's what I'm hearing, but the site I ran into for Sub Attempt 2 claimed they said "Superb Song".
Old Lady's giving out exposition today. In addition to the "Damage comes from insufficient synch rate" explanation I got up there, the S2CA apparently reduces the backlash anyway. Also, Hibiki apparently specialises in combination attacks for her Swansong.
...Oh shit. FINE has ADAM, and they used the S2CA to funnel power to him, like how Redwing's final concert was used for the Gilgamesh armour.
A week's passed since the concert. ADAM was clearly their primary goal; they haven't carried out the threatened attacks.
Manager's here with info for NERV. He's surrounded by enemies, and apparently casually dodging them during the call. I see Bluewing wasn't the only one to take lessons from Commander.
Having soloed the enemies, he's tracked down what's probably where FINE were getting their stuff. The goahead for more investigation is given.
Oh hey, the school got rebuilt. And Hibiki's back in it. Wonder how they explained away that minor "dead" period, or was that while it was being rebuilt?
Purple's words really hit Hibiki hard. And confirmation that the school only just got rebuilt. The teacher's going ballistic.
Meanwhile at FINE, Purple's still pissed that the moonpuncher lacks TRAGIC BACKSTORY. Meanwhile, Green's basically confirmed that they're HARD SYMPHOGEARS MAKING HARD DECISIONS.
Just as Maria arrives in the shower to support the whole HARD DECISIONS, the place goes into lockdown. Seems ADAM isn't exactly controllable.
And here's Ver, Evil Scientist No#2. Frontier's a key part of their plans, whatever they are, so Ver's holding down the fort with Purple/Green.
...if he didn't refuse it. They're going with Old Lady instead. And Ver's baiting a trap.
Chris now goes to school. And runs headfirst into Bluewing while trying to avoid Social Links.
And of course Bluewing's participating in said Link Event. Seems to be a school festival.
Resistance is futile. Chris is now helping Tsubasa prepare for the festival.
Character development for Chris has come a long way. From aloofness and "I AM A SWORD" to being fine with everyone.
Ah. There's the trap. The NERV Symphogears are going to run headfirst into ADAM, aren't they?
Just as Keikaku for Ver. He sends the welcoming party of Noise to force them to transform, presumably.
PFFT. "Instead of a greeting, say hello to my gatling."
Oh dear. The Noise are regenerating when hit. We're getting a lot of variant Noise this season, aren't we?
...Let me guess. The gas they ran right into is hitting their bodies.
[ADAM INTTERUPT]. Hibiki punches it. Not much help when it goes straight into another attack.
And Ver proceeds to reveal himself as evil, ADAM returning to its cage. The question is: Why reveal yourself?
To little suprise, Ver stole the Cane. Labcoats are useful, and Ver has as much ego as the last scientist.
With synch down, backlash is heavy on everyone. Why do I suspect Hibiki being fused with her Gear is going to come into play?
And a Noise got away with ADAM. Keikaku continues.
While Hibiki confronts Ver, Bluewing heads for Adam. She's not going to make it-
-except NERV relocated to the Wunder, and provide a platform to jump to.
Noise dead, she goes for ADAM-
[GUGNIR INTERRUPT]. I smell a Maria.
...And according to Ven, Maria is Fine. The one from Season 1. What.

We never got truly good subs until season 3, when the guy who translates all the supplemental materials was finally like "I can do better than that" and started making his own subs under the sub group name of "H&D". No bluray quality version exists for that yet, but it has by far the most accurate song translations. For now, Crunchyroll is probably your best bet for the first two seasons.
but the site I ran into for Sub Attempt 2 claimed they said "Superb Song".
I mentioned this early on, but "Superb Song" is actually the closest thing there is a literal translation of the made up word that's used in Japanese. "Swan Song" is basically a Woolseyism. Crunchyroll's subs often use "Climax Song" as their translation of the same term.
Oh hey, the school got rebuilt. And Hibiki's back in it.
Rebuilt isn't actually the right way to describe it. The old school is still in ruins. They just took some other building in the city, expanded it, and turned it into a school.

Except I'm pretty sure I heard the word Swan Song during the whole S2CA Triburst thing. Hence why I'm questioning it.
Given that Source 2 is the same site someone linked earlier for terms, I suspect it's the same subs you're talking about. Of course, the issue with old torrents is that it's rather hard to get them working.

If I remember correctly, its actually "Superb Song" said right there, but the Engrish accent makes it sound like "Swan Song". Being mentally used to calling it "Swan Song" makes it much easier to mishear it as that.

G is season 2, GX is season 3. Good subs don't begin until GX, which is less than a year old (the final bluray came out less than a month ago). Yes, the site that has all that terminology is run by the same guy who did the good subs for GX (although they weren't exactly popular subs, since worse subs came out way more quickly).

Ah, that sucks. Sorry it didn't work out.

...And according to Ven, Maria is Fine. The one from Season 1. What.

I mean, she does exist in a state of "waiting to be reawakened in her bloodline". Which begs the question of if she can reincarnate into multiple people at the same time.

And Ver proceeds to reveal himself as evil, ADAM returning to its cage. The question is: Why reveal yourself?

He's got an ego the size of the moon and tends to show off in very hammy fashion.

PFFT. "Instead of a greeting, say hello to my gatling."

Yukine "DAKKA DAKKA DAKKA" Chris.

Swan Song works better thematically too. A final performance before retirement and all that.

I think Kanade's the only one I've explicitly seen dying from a Swansong. Bluewing got hospitalised for half the series, Chris got the final episode powerup to offset the damage from that and the cannon, Hibiki had several months offscreen to recover, and the Triburst showed no visible damage.
Oh waut, the start of the season had that girl showing the same injury as Bluewing before the building collapsed on them.

Kanade is in the category of "needs to shoot up on drugs to be able to activate a Gear at all" that means that the recoil is tons higher.

Swan Song recoil is based on both sync rate and experience/skill at using your Gear. Not-Yet-Named-Girl didn't need drugs, but was a total noob with barely any experience at all, and didn't have Hibiki's bullshit sync rate.

Isn't it also an explicit feature that Hibiki's Swan/Climax/Superb/Pick'Em Song synchronizes with other people's Songs and eases the recoil burden for MAXIMUM TEAM-UP POWAH? :)

(Also, I so adore that Chris is running around, even as a good guy, still singing Villain Songs.)

@Grue, let me know if you want a trial membership to Crunchyroll; I have some lying around, they have all 3 symphogear seasons, and their subs are decent.

I'd say Crunchyroll has the second best subs around for it, and the best subs for the first two seasons (video quality is the real kicker). Sadly they don't include the OVAs though.

Crunchyroll memberships don't really even appeal to me though, because AdBlock works on Crunchyroll (unlike Funimation, Hulu, and Daisuki) and on a 15 inch monitor I can barely see any difference between 1080p and 480p (although I can see a big difference between 480p and 360p). No real reason for the membership unless you actually care about having access to 1080p.

because AdBlock works on Crunchyroll
Wait, it does?
I'd avoided Crunchyroll mainly because ads never synched up with the ad breaks/cuts, and my experience was with the mobile/tablet version, and it's a bit annoying to have DRAMA suddenly get interrupted by Kirito soloing a boss and giant frogs at least four times an episode.

Yes, it does. All the ads get replaced by tiny stutters that are less than a second in length.

I myself do see the difference between 720 and 480 at least, given that I watch crunchyroll on my full sized TV. 1080 is pointless because the original broadcasts were only rendered over the air at 720p in the first place. All the 1080p broadcast rips on line are merely upscaled anyway.
