Green Flame Rising (Exalted vs Dresden Files)

Can confirm, for the period that Thomas does your will, even in something this short-term his Hunger would be stilled.
...that seems like it would have terrifying geopolitical consequences, as every vampire that wants 'out' finds out that making Molly Dark Queen of the world means their salvation from their Hunger. Let's go!

Again, doesnt matter.

We happily and openly used social Excellencies during our previous encounter, as well as Imperial Primacy Mantle.
She either didnt notice or didnt make an issue of it. Furthermore, Demonic Primacy of Essence is always active; she's too much of a metaphysical heavyweight to be affected, but there's good odds she'll notice.
You misunderstand me. The issue is not that she'll notice per se. The issue is how she'll react. NWS is a targeted charm that would be affecting Mab. She would be in her rights to consider this action to be an attack, or to incur a debt from us to her. Excellencies affect us. There's no debt there. Active targeted charms affect Mab, incurring obligations and opening us to retaliation.

I mean you are an Infernal Exalted. Terrifying geopolitical consequences are your middle name: Margaret Katherine Amanda 'Terrifying Geopolitical Consequences' Carpenter :V

EDIT: Wait did this vote close? I forget.

The funnier thing would be if they started stumbling into it without an idea of what's going on. They just learn through trial and error that doing certain things, perhaps even nonsensical ones from the perspective of someone who doesn't know Molly exists, turn off their hunger.

From Molly's perspective it just turns into weird coincidences. Like a movie she really wants to see suddenly getting a lot of high profile actors involved as the white court vamps involved in the entertainment industry realize they don't need to feed while it's their primary focus.

Or, after it's had a chance to spread, people she dislikes start having random vampire encounters at a rate best described as "taking a jog in the long grass". :V

Really unlikely, but it'd be pretty funny.

It is not quite that broad, the minion has to know they are doing the Infernal's will.

Whampires could get themselves elected into positions of power (or more likely act as political operatives puppetting their muggle dupes) throughout the US, then just do their jobs well, seeking to properly manage the nation in a way Molly deems benevolent and helpful.

Imagine that, an era of competent and honest politicians made possible through the inadvertent machinations of a Queen of Hell. That would be some Grade A irony.

So, just checking, does this mean that the group of ramps we let go will have their hunger turned off as long as they don't harm innocents? I mean, we indicated our will relatively clearly when parting ways:
"Go now, and know, that on this night, I hold no grudge against you and yours and will remember your service here. When our paths cross again, as long as no innocent is suffering from your actions, I do not foresee myself pronouncing judgement upon you."

Also, if Molly registers as a democrat / republican / independent, would joining the same political party count as "following her will"?

  1. Technically yes, but it seems unlikely they would have done it, once they were no longer in her presence their terror would have faded
  2. Not unless she leads the party and even then only party members would register not supporters. There needs to be some kind of direct authority which is being followed not just a similarity of intent

Molly gets introduced by Harry to Thomas, eventually establishes a routine of selling diamonds that end up in the hands of the White Court and are probably sold onwards from there.

White Court doesn't figure out that it's Molly's Charms doing it, but does realize that everyone involved in buying and selling these specific diamonds has their hunger stilled. Tries to hold back a few. Discovers by trial and error that it doesn't work to just own them, there has to be business activity in place that goes towards money for buying diamonds from Molly's mysterious source.

White Court becomes the world's most bureaucratically bloated and inefficient diamond-trading operation as every vampire tries to get in on a sliver of activity that technically counts as helping in some way to trigger Mercy in Servitude, slowing down business so it lasts as long as possible before the GM calls shenanigans. :p

Still, that would be a nice way to troll them "I gave you a gift last time we met, have you not noticed? Well, I guess I will have to pass mu judgement onto you." Or something like that.

So, signing petition to renew Stargate SG-1 wouldn't enough to make whamps involved in Hollywood to lose their hunger as long as they keep it running?

It has to be called "Hunger Denying Trade Pattern".

How does that work exactly again? I get how it applies to bakemono powers like generating acid spit without being immune to your own acid, but that's not exactly the case here.

Vampires feed to fuel their powers, and white vampires can starve to the point that their demon dies - usually killing them in the process.

Red court vamps replace their human digestive tract with a blood based one; it's power and literally their food.

Does MiS actually feed them, or just suppress the sensation of hunger? If it's a stasis effect instead, what happens if they draw more power from their demon than it can give?

No, they have to be doing your will as your minions not merely be your allies in some matter.

They still need to feed to maintain their supernatural powers, I think I've said this before there is no such thing as a free lunch, but what the charm removes is the hunger, so no more overfeeding accidents. If they draw more power than the demon has and refuse to feed they sicken and die.

I'll be voting to get it, for what it is worth.
I will also vote for it as it is extremely useful and has almost no consequences other than momentary pain, as long as we not use it to excess, and I am a firm believer in having a source of automatic success that we can save for emergencies is one of the things in the category of "much better to have and not need than not to have and need".

Does it have narrative consequences if it is discovered by our parents? Yes, but first they will have to find out about us having and using it, which is difficult as it doesn't give an obvious signal to everyone when/if it is being used and second if it is found out and they want us to promise not to use it let's having great social skills and excellence to convince them that yes, it's bad but it's also one of our emergency options for when we really need successes. It is totally worth the potential cost (personal opinion).

For me, he, MMP and the Devil's Disciples (Dark Age version training charm) are the ones we eventually need to have, just for their usefulness.

Anyway, while I really don't think that it is as nasty as people percieve it, if/when DP allows us custom homebrew, I prolly can write a more vegetarian charm with roughly same functionality; maybe a little weaker or more expensive, but without stuff that people perceive as self-harm. Maybe even with a "If you purchase this, you can't get Soul Rending Practice" caveat, there is precedent for that sort of stuff in ExWoD charmsets.

Perhaps that could satisfy everyone.

SLP is powerful. It adds, on average, 7-10 sux on any single roll, including rolls that generally have total dicepools of like, 5. Our best rolls so far are in 7-14 range, so far. It could be taken much further, but we are not here to cheese or otherwise do silly stuff.

Alongside with easy-to-trigger difficulty adjustments charms, this is the stuff, the primary high-powered "Core" that still makes Infernal charmset celestial-and-arguably-solaroid tier; not whacky funny "I deal Athletic + Essence points of lethal damage (read; nothingburger) for a point of essence (read; stupidly expensive for a single damage roll) when I fall from great heights" charms that for some reason cost the same amount of xp as BSM or CCC or VEE.

Without it, or equivalent, Molly's ultimate potential gets considerably lower. Living up to the hype of a Solaroid Celestial Exalt becomes much more difficult.

Yeah, not only are training Charms valuable, but the devil disciple Charm takes advantage of our Lanka affinity, and gives us access to fomori creation. I do not feel too bad creating fomori as long as it is done to the willing, and the training time gives volunteers a chance to think it through.

Depending on what sort of hell we get, the spirits we'll be infusing into people might be a hell of a lot more benign than the usual "spirits of pure distilled evil and corruption" banes usually used by Pentex and other typical oWoD baddies.

Decent spirit + willing volunteer is closer to a genuine low-powered new creature splat than expendable shock troopers, imo. Could call them bootleg terrestrials, even. :V

[x] Gard feels like the sort of person who would buy diamonds no questions asked

I'm going to come out of lurking to vote for this. From what I see the main concern is giving up secrets, but that is a concern no matter who we go with. The difference is that the lawyer is a complete unknown. He could be anything from a mortal aware of magic to being a god himself. All we know about him is that he worked for Lydia's dad who isn't a great character reference.

On the other hand Odin is at least somewhat of an honorable good guy and both him and Marcone would likely be eager to enter a business arrangement with us. I see it as less of a risk and a good way to start making contacts with people we are guaranteed to run into a lot.

'Decent' is probably something of a large ask when talking about beings which will come when called by the siren call of Infernal Essence. Coldly amoral/obsessed with some cause or task is probably about the best you can get.

Compared to the usual stock, that's still like, two orders of magnitude worth of improvement. :V

That said, I was mostly thinking about our own devils created and shaped with King and Kingdom; you don't graft random spirits onto people. That's just bad taste.

OK, looks like we are going with Lydia. Vote closed.
