Green Flame Rising (Exalted vs Dresden Files)

I was going to demand his phone, type a burner email address on it, get his phone number and return it with a HMP cyberdevil.
Something along these lines.

[]The vampire has serves his purpose
-[]Release him
-[]Ask how many sorcerers they brought with them
-[]Demand his phone, type a burner email address in, HMP it, then return it
-[]Have him carry a message back
-[]Stunt:???
Fair point

[X] Plan bloodied waters
-[X] The vampire has served his purpose
-[X] Release him to carry a message to his leader.
—[X] Establish some basic, stay out of each other's way boundaries. We know he's watching, he knows we know, the usual business. Have Clippy generate a burner email for basic communications, and get whatever our soon to be former minion's address for the same.
— [X] Place the email in his phone, and take the opportunity to stealthily plant a cyber Devil while doing so.
—[X] Lean on Usum for formal diplomatic language as an arch demon of the thousand hells might use for such an occasion.
-[X] Stunt: "What to do with you?" Molly muses aloud, ignoring the poorly hidden agitation of her temporary servant.
—[X] For a moment the wind cuts deeper, and the shadows almost seem to move on their own. As her attention comes to fully rest on the vampire, it freezes like a deer caught in the headlights.
—[X] "I think", Molly says in a bitterly cold voice, "You're going to carry a message for me to your nest"

Unless Uju rolls out an incredible plan, this is probably going to be the winner of this round.

Anyway, could someone remind me what specifically specialties do in ExWoD, mechanically? A bunch of white wolf systems did slightly different things with them, and I can't find how they are done in ExWoD even with help of mighty CTRL-F.

By @DragonParadox we are still in the same scene as the one where we used essence to see the raksha:
You already got the essence from the Rhaska... and you are in the same scene anyway, so your Urge cannot fire in any case I just remembered.
Then we used the excellency and possibly IPM. If we use more (for HMP), wouldn't we start glowing? That kinda puts a dampener on "not attract attention" and, more importantly "covertly insert an HMP demon into his phone".

You did not use IPM, there is no point to trigger that one in advance in social situations since it is reflexive.

Yeah, I think I agree that we need to fully commit to alpha striking or stay away till we know more.
If I was assaulting a vampire nest?
I would do it in the daytime, and preferably by getting Michael, or an ordained priest, to bless the fire sprinkler system or the contents of the water reservoir in the club so that if we set off the fire alarm, it would rain holy water.

Then go in after ninety seconds of setting off the sprinklers.

Nothing really besides in Craft.
Mostly just fluff. Note there's no XP costs for them.

Its a graveyard thats empty besides ghosts and the four of us and any of his cohorts who mighy be in the shadows.
We dont really care.

As for glowing, we are intimidating him further. Or we're pissed.
He doesnt know how our power works.
Very few people do.

Its like when a Sword starts glowing. Or when Mouse does.

Different scene.
We moved from Nieminen's gravesite to a bench outside the burial grounds proper but still on the cemetery grounds.

COMMENTARY
-Traffic cameras.
Something for the Cyberdevils to hack into while we're asleep tonight. I'd worry about his being tracked, but Im reasonably sure that when necessary coincidence makes it so that his license plate isnt seen.

-Looks like we're lodging outside Cleveland.
A place with a subverted police department is not somewhere to book a hotel room.

-Called it on the Reds being interlopers. So there's at least two factions we know about: the Reds and the Pathfinders. And Im reasonably sure they arent the only ones in play, just the ones we've seen signs of.

Cleveland has a population of around 350k, and the metro area has around 3 million people.
Thats large enough to support a significant supernatural scene, and I doubt either the Pathfinder op or the Red infestation has gone unnoticed.

-Assuming dude is too terrified to lie to us?
Going to note that while Andre certainly seems to believe they are here to shut this down? His boss probably has contingency plans to see if he can attempt to take control of this thing, if it can be done.

I mean, Reds can infiltrate law enforcement and make thralls with hypnotic mind control and their spit.

The most straightforward strategy would be to thrall some of the home staff to commit health violations, used the cops they infiltrated to trump up charges and shut the entire nursing home down and disperse the residents.
One week, maybe two.

Instead they are setting up a local base where they have access to lots of humans nightly, and subverted part of the police department so any missing person investigations come into contact with human thralls.
Something smells.

-Andre La Blanche is a French name, which makes him less than a hundred years based on likely Red Court demographics.
Probably less than fifty. Nowhere near the actual circles of power.

Philippe de Leon otoh is Hispanic, either original Spanish from the conquistadorial era or a convert from after colonialism.
Which makes him no more than five hundred or so years. We are probably looking at one of Paolo Ortega's deputies and replacements after McCoy asteroid dropped his estate.

Someone with competence. And ambition.
And at least a working knowledge of magic, if hes riding point on something like this.
He's either a sorcerer, or he has a sorcerer in tow.

No recorded successful case. Its a fear, but there is no indication that its ever actually happened.
Plus, Rampires have to first capture you, then infect you, and get you to drink someone's blood until they die in order to become a Red Court vampire yourself.

Wizard death curse makes attempting to take a Warden captive a very perilous endeavor.

The same arguments that apply to not executing death penalty cases probably apply here.
But the options available to Molly change when she has a Hell/Kingdom in which to throw people on probation.
And when she gets fomor/bakemono charms to simply change a Rampire.
You don't think a single wizard has willingly become one?

Of the White Council, no. Becoming a red court vampire metaphysically kills you, IIRC. Resulting Rampire is something else wearing your skin and remains of your skills. Wizards who know this are never going to agree to that sort of a deal.
It transforms you, but I don't think Butcher considered rampires to be different entities from their mortal selves. Otherwise "every rampire is a murderer" point makes no sense. It's the mortal that makes the choice. If rampire is not that mortal, they wouldn't be a murderer, the mortal would be.

Grumble grumble fire sprinkler rant:
These systems are hooked into the underground city main (unless you absolutely need to install a water tank which is lmao probably gonna be more expensive than the system itself and are like purely for high rise buildings or places in the ass end of nowhere), old ass dinky nightclub might not have one/it probably isn't maintained well (also fire sprinkler water from old pipes is the dictionary definition of 'grody' and i seriously argue breathing it in should count for our toxic liquid thing), and even if they do have a fully functioning system they're designed by NFPA 13 for only a very specific number of sprinklers to pop off at a time. You get the movie thing of everything on a floor opening at once practically never and even if all the fusible elements broke at once its not designed to flow that amount so you'll likely get nothing due to there not being enough pressure and flow to account for that.

Tldr no. Holy water fire sprinklers not a thing. The water in them is probably groody enough to give Molly essence regen though.

In other news, this talk about negotiating with forces of darkness made me look into mechanics of bargaining with hell. There is a system in the book specifically for this sort of stuff, in ExWoD.

And Infernals break that system over a knee. Here is how this works;

There is a charm that allows you to contact hell. Once you did that, you get mentally transported to a realm where you barter with forces of hell for various goodies. Rising attribute caps, ancient sorcery spells, dots of charms, access to powers Exalt typically don't get, the good stuff.

Once you choose your purchases, Exalt rolls Intelligence + Law at target difficulty 9. Excellencies normally do not apply because this is an extended negotiation, but anything scene-long or otherwise lengthy does. Degree of success determines how hard you get hoodwinked by hell.

Except, at 5+ successes you hoodwink hell instead, and get whatever you wanted for free. At 4 you get major discounts.

Infernals can easily roll 14d10 dice at target difficulty 5 with just passive stuff like Cracked Cell Circumvention (which does apply) and Boiling Sea Mastery (can apply with minor effort). They also have a number of other boosts that situationally might or might not apply.

With that much buying power, Internals can fairly easily buy hundreds points xp worth of goodies, all while not paying a single penny for it all. Going from E1 to E5? All atributes permanently to 8 and skills to 6? All ancient sorcery spells printed? Any sort of a discipline or gift from other splats, like Temporis Time Stop valkyrie used against us some time ago? You got it chief. All of it. At the same time.

It is kind of funny, even if it is not going to be ever relevant in this game.

Of the White Council? Why would they want to?
Wizards live in excess of three hundred years naturally, and we know Rashid is a thousand plus and active.
A wizard looking to life extension would pursue magical means of doing so, not to join the Reds.

The Red Court offers him/her nothing they dont already have as a WC member.
And much bigger limitations.

I get the impression he does. But he has never been explicit about how it works that I know of.

I was thinking a roof reservoir myself.
Mayb we should consider a fog machine.

I did love the nightclub-ambush in the Bloodlines game in Chinatown, so I'm fully in favor of reliving the experience in a WoD crossover here.

Late-game bloodlines seems like an excellent example of how to act for an Infernal Exalt in Urban Fantasy anyway.
:)

Edit:
VtMB is a wonderful game, but it has a rather rushed last third.
Where before there were often diplomatic or stealthy solutions to quests, towards the end it tends more towards a lot of combat as the only option.

Which is kinda sad if you have invested in a social build, but there's still at least a lot of good action parts in various environments and against different foes.

Still, for the Masquerade you are propably a walking terror, even if you act perfectly compliant within the game mechanics.

The water sitting in sprinkler system pipes really can get surprisingly gross. Found that out when crackheads broke into one of the large vacant buildings owned by the company I used to work at way back in the day. In their search for copper pipes to cut out and sell for scrap, the first time they broke in they mistakenly cut into the overhead sprinkler pipes directly above a block of offices in the oldest part of the building. I don't know how long it had been since the system was flushed, if it ever had been, but enough time had passed for it to turn black and stinky.

Even nasty black water can still probably be blessed into holy water, though. Unfortunately, like you pointed out, sprinkler systems don't trigger throughout a building like Hollywood would have us believe.

The poor devils on the other side of that summoning. It's like working the register at a KFC and looking up to see Colonel Sanders is the next person in line. :V

So I have a question, if gods also use essence can we learn charms that are related to hell or the yozi in some fashion from them? From example learning hell charms from someone like Hades or the runes from Odin but only if they are related (Hades is a god of hell and rules over tartarus which is a realm full of Monsters and Demons, and the runes are said to be a knowledge that Odin obtained by comtemplating the roots of the world and thus the Magic which the Yozi used to create it). We could even use them as means to add new home-made charms or add new forms of training like our martial arts after we finish some quests for them.
