Green Flame Rising (Exalted vs Dresden Files)

[X] "Rescuing a little girl who was kidnapped by Nazi Necromancers so they could blackmail her grandfather. Say hi, Cindy. What are you doing here?"

*points at update *
And I was just arguing about the utility of Flight.

suddenly the spirit veers hard left into what looks like an old wine cellar of all things with one of those fancy spiral stairs like a medieval castle leading upwards towards faint white light.

But that is not the only light in the chamber. In the middle of the spiral is Lydia, holding in her left hand a pale blue witch-light, looking a bit bedraggled from her walk about Undertown but otherwise fine. You can't really blame her for looking shock at the sight of a great big stone dragon roaring into the room with four people hanging out the back of of it.
This is what happens when you keep your kid away from most forms of modern entertainment.
Anyone who has watched modern TV knows that glowing subterranean portals are sus.

Somewhere this cold and this wet is either leading to Winter, or to an icy Hell.
And given the witchlight in her hands, I suspect its the latter of the two. Not that the first would be any better right now.
I really wish we had Hellscry Chakra to help see spirits.

What do you reply?

Charisma 3 + Empathy 3 + Stunt 2 + Excellency = 14 dice.
Leverage boyfriend's dad's presence against Lydia ruthlessly; hopefully we ping off an Intimacy.

Remember, she's a sheltered teenager rebelling against parental authority (while also possibly trying to save that parental authority, while also likely having stuff whispered into her ear by either a winter fae, or a demon). We should take a lot of care not to come off as patronizing to her, otherwise instinctual rejection might happen.
Spending essence now is a bad idea, especially if Kathrina catches up to us.
We have at least half an hour until Katrina is here. That's at least one scene. We have a lot of props to learn ancient mysteries with around us to regain one essence (on the balance of using the crown), thus making a use of essence cost zero net points.

EDIT:

Yes, alchemy is mortal magic so if you figure out something you can share it freely with others who have the skill. Tool Transcending Constructs would not apply though as you use Occult and not Technology to craft it as that is what Harry has to teach you with.

Remember that Tool Transcendening Constructs enhances any attempt to create something, not just technological items. It's just that it only gives a times five multiplier for non-technological items rather than times ten.

That's why it triggers when trying to cook a meal, and so it should also trigger when performing Occult Alchemy.

Also worth remembering is that each alchemical recipe is its own ritual costing one experience point per level. It's cheaper than charms, but it's not free.

Kattrin is still at least 60 minutes behind. Not a current concern.

We need Lydia to come with us, and to tell us what exactly she talked to back home in the summoning circle. We cant afford to fumble and have to resort to force where we'd have to blow through Essence anyway.
Let's not be penny wise pound foolish here.

Furthermore, if we get her to talk, we regain whatever Essence we spend on a Social Excellency.

List of things that are guaranteed to end poorly:
1) Attacking a knight of the cross while they're holding an innocent child they just rescued in their arms.

Seriously, with the power of white god brand Mysterious Ways on their side it'd probably be safer to attack them while they're armed to the teeth and waiting for you. :V
Might not get as much help on that front well he is hanging out with with an essanse user outside of fate. But that's fine he doesn't need anymore help. We are the help.

There's a reason I am spending Essence on an Excellency.
We cant afford to fuck this up.
Especially since, if we get her to reveal what she summoned and where she was going, it should replenish the Essence spend.

Can you start adding the dashes in front of the secondary lines of your votes so that the tally will keep them together rather than splitting them into multiple different sections?

Molly: "Getting a piggy back ride from a dragon and rescuing people from nazi necromancers. It's a veritable YA novel down here. Not that I have any room to talk, but what's with the sketchy fire and summoning setup?"

This comes off as patronizing to my ear.
And implies that we know more about her powers, such as they are, than she does.
Soft sell, not hard sell.

Furthermore, since we dont actually know what brought her here, and if its listening in, I'd rather not be quite so free with the fact that we know whats being plotted in this city.
Lots of ears here.

@DragonParadox, did we get a sense of just how far we traveled thanks to the Elemental Spirit?

What do ya'll think the chances are that we've followed Lydia all the way back to the wine cellar of her home here in Chicago?

Done for the Excellency.
Leaving the Stunt without the dash because other people might want to use the stunt without the main vote.

Zero Very unlikely
She didnt come here through her home's wine cellar, and if a portal existed there, she'd have used it instead of schlepping through bat poop.

Ok, fair point.

The fluff elements have serious consequences here, which is honestly something I like about how @DragonParadox has been handling things.

NFV involves imprisoning your nightmares in a way that makes any sleep you do get worse.
Which, again, is completely irrelevant if you never sleep. Which is why I specifically said after learning the Qiao technique Focus of the Mind, as it allows you to regain willpower by meditating, eliminating the only reason too sleep in Exalted if you don't have to.

It's a thematic nonissue, even fluffwise.

I would feel more confident in this assessment if we actually knew what her powers are. Just because she didn't enter Undertown via the wine cellar of her house doesn't mean she couldn't travel there, especially if she has some means of homing in on it or an unseen spirit of some sort guiding her.

It just seems like she would have tried to seek out a place where she feels safe, and where but her current home best fits that bill? The apparent close proximity to some fragment of Winter's power also lends a bit of credence to my speculation.

If we are in her home, how will that affect us? It shouldn't have much of a Threshold given the short time Lydia has lived there and the fact that she's the only Human-adjacent being who calls the place home, but it could still potentially cause some issues.

I think mentioning the Dark Feast so explicitly is a bad idea. Just replace eat with kill or take out.

Well, ok. I was going for shock value, really, but ok.

[] What am I doing here? Big question. Ok, so in the days before God made the world the Primordial's made creation. They were poor masters and ultimately their servants rebelled…

Oh sure you can use the tools you conjure, just like you could in the attempt at medicine, you just don't get the speed buff

You went about 15 minutes or so, though it is hard to estimate the speed beyond 'faster than walking'.
