Green Flame Rising (Exalted vs Dresden Files)

Lydia..." you breathe shocked. What would she be doing down here? The part of you that is still half convinced she has nothing to do with any of this mess asks. But then what would anyone else wearing three hundred dollar boots be doing down here.
Mmmm. She's definetly here to rescue her dad.

What else could motivate a teenager to drag 300$ shoes through bat guano?

I hope it's something so innocent and naive as that, but I won't use the value of her shoes as evidence that she's on a rescue mission.

The girl grew up extremely sheltered and super wealthy. It's all too likely that she doesn't even have a halfway decent idea of the value of money.

Most super sheltered and wealthy people (I imagine) would balk at walking through big piles of bat shit.

Though that was more meant as a joke.

Well, the current winning vote will tell us for sure one way or another why she's here, and also confirm who her dad is.

Although, if she is the daughter of the First Ankou like we suspect, I really doubt she's working with the people who are planning on eating her dad to steal his power, at least not knowingly and willingly. She really didn't seem like the kind of person who would be up for murdering her own father for power. Not that that rules out her being tricked, mind-controlled, or captive, but still.

Just to be sure because I'm new on this quest: Would asking about the boots here cut of off from the subject "Boots"?
By my understanding the breadth of the cutoff corresponds to how supernatural or hidden the target is. So while Lydia is supernatural, her boots are probably mundane. Or is the fact that we are using the boots as a vector to get at potentially more hidden secrets circumvent that?

Also should we narrow the query? Asking for "What have the shoes that made those prints witnessed since they were bought" sounds like it would potentially get us months of irrelevant information. "What supernatural events have the shoes that made those prints witnessed since they were bought" or "What events have the shoes that made those prints witnessed since yesterday" would serve better to give us fidelity on the events we want.

Like so?
[X] Take the path you know, you cannot risk getting lost down here
-[X]Crown of Eyes on shoeprints: What supernatural events have the shoes that made those prints witnessed since they were bought.
-[X]STUNT: Frowning, you stare at the distinctive shoe patterns, then crouch to get a closer look. "I think I know those shoes. I think I know the owner of those shoes." Focusing, you open your eyes and look for a single, endless moment, then shake your head. Throttling the impulse to run the tracks down, you turn away. "Let's get Cindy first. I'll fill you in."

You are fine to ask about her boots in particular, they are only once removed from an supernatural being. If you asked about the random boots of a person on the streets that would lock you out of all boot questions

well great thing about this vote we're basically guaranteed an essence gain of one from learning the things these shoes tell us. which we really need especially with the eventual boss fight. Even if in the increasingly unlikely scenario shes not the ankous kid she'd still reveal some hidden secrets for us.

What @zxzx24 said.

You may or may not be correct about her not knowing the value of money. But thats a very different matter from taking fashionable boots designed to be seen in on a hike into bat guano and mud. Its not about expense, its about utility. Way too easy to turn an ankle or slip and fall. She took enough self defense classes to know that much.

Super rich girl would have a series of workout shoes, any of which would be a better fit than the shoes you wore to a date.

As long as we use a Wicked City effect to make every loudspeaker and electronic device in mile play One Winged Angel (Advent Children version) whenever we transform I'm okay with the Shintai.

Might as well as.

-[X] Now that Lydia is confirmed as involved mention your suspicions to Dad and Gard

I am an optimist. I believe we'll find Lydia and learn that she's a young girl who just discovered supernatural, learned that her father is in trouble / danger, possibly awakened some mysterious powers, and is trying to solve the problem in a way that a teenager can.

don't have even a tiny hope for wishes of patricide? :p

I'm much more concerned that she's been bodyjacked/mind controlled and her body is walking here while she's screaming on the inside.

At what age are Changeling children able to choose between remaining Human or embracing their supernatural heritage to become fully Fey?

I'm still super suspicious of Lydia at the moment, but she could be another pawn of Mab's at this point, if she's gone full on Winter Fey, perhaps in order to save her father? Does anyone doubt Mab of all beings wouldn't prey on a young girl's fear to sway her to joining Winter?

I would disagree.

Look at the time and effort we've spent to clear this tripwire without warning Kattrin. Giving her spare troops allows her flexibility of response too, and we have to account for a broader spectrum of scenarios.Whittling away her mooks is not going to solve the problem on its own, but its worth a couple dice in its own right, assuming we were modelling this as a dice pool problem.

Especially since she isnt a Chicago native, or familiar with the city, and literally only showed up like 3-4 days ago.
But is trying to run an op here.
Perhaps I was too dismissive, but I still think you're drastically overvaluing them.

This whole thing is going to be wrapped up sooner than those four can be made useful again. Even if it isn't, this still at minimum cuts off our known good escape route from this place.

Being convenient in the future doesn't stop it from causing serious complications right now.

I have no idea what this is about cool badass warrior women is always neat in this quest though.
Visual references for armor. The art is by Stjepan Sejic aka Nebezial, and are mostly for the Witchblade comics.
He's one of the few artists I recall who does chainmail, or filigree decorations on plate armor and mail, and our armor charm is fluffed as doing border filigree on whatever we're wearing.

Im hoping you are right.

I dont think she's a patricide, or the sort to willingly collaborate; she doesnt fit the profile, and Molly did a sitdown with her, and I would hope she'd pick up on something like that back when she was getting her to talk so freely. And the circumstantial evidence suggests she's never been down in Undertown before, even though she and her father have been in Chicago for almost a year.

Hence the fashionable date boots instead of more sensible hiking footwear.

But that doesnt preclude her being a dupe. Or coerced.
And given that the Capriocorpus is a thing, we also have to consider bodyjacking.
We'll see.

We captured five of six thralls, with no indication where the sixth is. Only one is injured baly enough to require prolonged hospital admission. In the absence of police incarceration, I find it plausible that Number Six would come in behind us, free them, leave the guy with the axe injury on site and take the remaining 4 elsewhere with painkillers and new weapons.

Doesnt even have to be Thrall 6.
If Kattrin or her minion was truly paranoid, she would have them calling in with an all-clear every hour or thirty minutes, and a missed call plus dead landline and cellphone numbers would have brought a response within thirty minutes.

Well, I think we can say with high degree of certainty that she wasn't maliciuos in dating our brother. Because while Free Will is sacrosanct, I am fairly sure that a non-human magical trying to honeypot a non-involved Knight of the Cross's child would be shut down hard by White God. This gives us at least some information about her.

in fairness it wouldn't be direct interference. Changelings still have free will and all.

Okay, so I was looking at the ExvWod book, and… I now hate Opened Eye of the Hurricane even more. Why? Because I was looking at the Sidereal charms and saw the 5-dot Serenity Charm Defense of Shining Joy.

Defense of Shining Joy is a clone of the Solar Charm Fivefold Bulwark Stance, only instead of choosing between Athletics, Melee, or Brawl for the roll, the Sidereal chooses between Athletics and Performance. As opposed to the Infernal version, which can only choose Athletics with no possible substitution.

Freaking Sidereals get a better knock-off version of a Solar Charm than a fellow Solaroid! That's just not fair. And is also clearly something to solve with homebrew as a mid-term priority.

If we end up getting the Fivefold Courts as our soul-realm, the "two unstoppable hurricanes in opposite directions canceling out to form a habitable zone between them" thing sounds like a reasonable basis for a Parry-based knock-off of our own, right? Completely reasonable.
