Green Flame Rising (Exalted vs Dresden Files)

I prefer DP's refluffed interpretation of the Charm, not only to avoid drama but because it fits the DF setting better. Perhaps instead of trying to get him to change his mind on that, we could focus on more immediately relevant stuff, like voting?
The problem is this version of the charm is worse in every way. This just means we can't use one of our charms. As the demon comes from the hell's and gets sent back their either by the time running out, or being banished.

Demons which are then free to sell their information about the mortal world, and Molly, to the Yama Kings for promotions and greater power. It makes using the charm a massive liability that will be exploited against us.

As a side note, but the Garou use their Rite of Spirit Awakening to awaken the spirits of recreational drugs and alcohol to make the intoxicant more potent before taking/drinking it...

And more seriously, the awaken the spirits of plants before using the resulting sanctified plants to perform minor supernatural effects.

And as long as they're respectful to the spirit as they consume/use it they don't see a moral problem with that. Also, Werewolf rather problematically says:

Gafflings are at the bottom of the spiritual hierarchy. They're the barely-sentient servants of Jagglings, as well as the Changing Breeds and shamans who can command them. Their instincts and guile are barely sufficient to survive in the wilds of their spirit realms, and many spiritualists consider them to be little more than tools. Shamans have little difficulty sacrificing them for the greater good, for sacrifice is nature's way. Like other spirits, Gafflings use supernatural powers called Charms to remain in constant contract with their patrons, largely because their patrons have no reservations about keeping them under complete control. Although some possess full intelligence, those are more the exception than the rule. Mysterious cosmic forces bestow their intellect and abilities. They're known for complete loyalty, and many actually prefer of being dominated by their controllers, liberating them from such troublesome concepts as freedom and independence.

These very weak spirits would be gafflings.

Spirits are more related to thoughts, archetypes and such, similarly to the reflections of the Epiphamies and such realms which are belief and mentality based, than a conventional creature.

This makes differences in metaphysics, psychology, ecology pretty alien.

Another example of Spirit weirdness are the paradox spirits and deep umbra/ deep universe stuff.

This is busted, so we should absolutely do this. -3 difficulty on crafting rolls is wild.
Add Boiling Sea Mastery and Barren Waste Infliction for a total of -5, at which point, IIRC, we more or less just automatically get successes instead of rolling.

Although Barren Waste Infliction is problematic until we get our own Kingdom.

Weve got one that gives bonus dice for cold as well. We just need some jailbroken ac units.

And hey we can out demons in air conditioning now!

I wonder if they could fry the machine to make it cold enough for a little bit... hm..
Edit:
Misremembered! My bad sorry.

[X] Bring up your new powers and supplies you need for them

Its what the fluff means.

If you don't want it to mean that, change the fluff.

for example, all demons going leaving the item get mindscrubbed of it all.

Otherwise, thats just what it means.

You are picking up what is little more than the background static of the Wicked City, the least of its demons. For anyone to be able to use a returning devil against you, they would have to pick them up out of the horde in the brief time before you put that demon in something else. If it makes you guys feel better I'll say that is not a significant danger.

It should be noted the garou are also assholes, so I really would not look to them for moral guidance

I assume a demon hacker with actual magical abilities would have much easier ways to spy and find information about us.

Rather than getting into a tug of war with exalted demon binding.

I feel many modern garou are less assholes and just picking up the pieces of their fucked up ancestors and dealing with their problems. Unsure how many modern Garou are really aware how fucked up their ancestors were and justify the stupid stupid genocides of other shifters.

But it is a danger introduced to where originally there was none.

Okay, let me try to understand.

Is Hell, the Wicked City, as moral as Molly?

If no, then why is a Charm from there something related to her morality.

This is the one thing I can't wrap my head around. Its a Hell, and not even a Hell which adheres to celestial principles but runaway, more evil than should be Hell.

And our powers come from there.

Edit: Infernal Exaltation doesn't give a shit and uses the Hell's as bluepritns specifically, but same end meaning.

And what to stop the demon from just selling information about the mortal world, and the new exalted, to interested parties. They suddenly have something worthwhile to improve their situation in the hell's. This makes them a total liability and ruins the charms functionality, by compromising our information security.

Anyone able to manipulate spirits would be able to do the same whether they are demons or not, just like anyone with a gun could shoot your mortal friends, but that does not seem like a good reason to avoid having friends. I was addressing the specific 'what if the demons blab back home' that is relevant to demons but not newly awakened demons.

@DragonParadox, would really, really salty water qualify for Charred Sinner Renewal? I know that might seem like a copout, but water with a super high salinity is absolutely lethal to anything except robust and specialized extremophiles.

If it kills a human in less than an hour of immersion it works.
Pickling brine could qualify, I think, as could pickling vinegar or lye. Brine would need a second cleanup to get the salt out, since deadly concentrations will percipitate, but is easy to store and reuse.

Vinegar wouldn't, though you might smell of whatever you made it with(scavenge fruit peels and filter it to smell like fancy bodywash), and being harder to store long term.
I re-fluffed that so we would not have to deal with the issues of 'does this spirit understand the world around it' and 'is it OK to command the unquestioning loyalty of something just because you made it?' This way it's easier 'demon makes unbreakable bargain for a way out of hell and into your phone'.
Charity: *Meaningful look about the feasibility of this argument*

Most Spirits aren't in the same plane of existence as a Yama King, under their direct rule, with self serving minds.

This is like the difference between having a friend who lives in town, and having a friend who is a deep cover spy against literal Hell.

You get one rolls every 15 minutes, even without stunting the fact that tens count as doubles should get you to 5 in a matter of hours not days. I did a test just now and got it in 16 tries which is 4 hours, not easy, but also not days.
Just out of curiosity, if we get a duration shorter than permanent can we specifically summon the same devil again for the next try?

Since the fluff from the chapter mentions them gaining names, and we might either want to retain a character or avoid letting a devil who's had access to our stuff stay in the wild.

Ahem... to make this clear because people seem to be misreading me:
There is no Extra danger from them being demons

The demons are too minor to be picked up by anyone of note in good time, too eager to get a free pass out of hell in a way that circumscribes their superiors to sell you out.

On another note if I did change the fluff I would have to go through every update since I introduced the concept and change it, That does not sound worthwhile and it certainly does not sound fun to me.

Yeah this is really bad, in addition to the self serving demons selling information in the hell's. To powerful enemies like the Yama Kings,

And they are so weak any two bit demonogist can go about capturing them, extraction their name, banishing them, and re-summoning under their control to competently compromise our operations.

It matters mostly if:
1) They go back to hell at all
2) The Yama King knows it has relevant information and asks it the right question
3) Its actually smart enough to know the right answer rather than provide a cat video index

Thinking about bleach baths, I wonder if throwing a few bags of ice in the bath wouod get us those extra dice for a cold environmental hazard

Charms and Intellectus exists, I wouldnt be surprised at some point.

It has to be smart enough if we employ it, if it werent, it wouldnt be useful enough for us to make use of.
