Green Flame Rising (Exalted vs Dresden Files)

I see what you mean but I can't really think of how to do it organically.
Just add a sub-header like so
---------------------------------- Harry Dresden ----------------------------------
"I am not as the others, of the land but apart, your sympathy echos hollow unless you are the one-to-be. I am for one to keep as they are kept. Are you the one? Are you the Warden? Do you seek to be?"
One thing I like here is that in a single line, Demonreach is shown to be both quite intelligent AND empathic, even as its being bitter and constrained by its nature.
  1. It understood Harry was attempting to empathize
  2. Was annoyed by this as the approach was contrary to its nature
    1. or perhaps its trauma, rather than nature, considering it once enjoyed people living on its island
  3. But realized this meant Harry misunderstood its nature and thought it was a land spirit
  4. Decided to grumpily take it as the nonhostile attempt to open communications that it was
    1. Grumpily in this case meaning lashing out with a judiciously small amount of energy
  5. Immediately resolved the misunderstanding

I don't really like headers is the thing. I find them distracting.

Don't worry I'll think of something.
You don't have to.

Taking a moment to figure out who the new PoV is perfectly normal, something you got to do in many printed books, probably good ones too.

You have no obligation to change your style in that matter.
On the contrary, using the reveal of who the PoV-character is at some point of the chapter would for a specific purpose even be a neat literary trick.

Changed it a bit, it follows after the last update which means it is not really meant to be surprising.

Damn. This is unfortunate. I wouldn't be considering Harry for Warden in any serious capacity if the island wasn't damagingly tied to his heart, but it is.

8 dice to negotiate, and he botches. Lol.
I WARNED people about the potential for this. I even pointed out that he had botched like this before.
I swear, people are taking the QM's good will for granted.

The one good thing here is that Sophia has a healing Gift, so if he takes damage we have options.

On the other hand? Harry has now botched negotiations with a spirit twice in quick succession.
First with the mirror spirit(s), and now with Demonreach. Both times he's had to deal with physical damage as a consequence.
Molly is NEVER letting Harry take the lead on negotiations with a spirit again. Ever.

Whoever it is just volunteered for a spanking
This is definitely spanking territory.
This makes it to number 3 on my personal list of Molly Prime's actions in March, with the other two being the March lottery and the Peabody Affair.

Thing is, telling that *you should have expected a botch* is not really an argument in good faith.

That's like telling people they should have used a less effective sword right after they had a crit fail on an attack roll that made them decapitate one of their party members, you don't plan for that.

What are you planning to use lottery money for? Why should we spend effort to win said lottery at all?
Legal money.
Money that cant be impeded by hostile powers pointing LEOs at it, and provide a sufficient layer of obfuscation for significant outlays, and which give you access to the networks of power and influence that some rich people have access to.

Among other things, we do need real estate in Chicago and Boston that can be warded to Molly's standards, both personal, for all the Sanctuary operatives we've been bringing across into the Chicago area, and all the people we've been picking up.
Then there's a Carpenter Family trust fund.

But mostly? Actual justification for an 18 year old from a middle-class family turning into a multimillionaire between her graduation from high school and her entering freshman year at college, enough to satisfy mundane authorities like banks and government money laundering investigators and tax agents.

Money is not the issue in itself.
We already demonstrated diamond making, even if there's limits to how much we can make without drawing attention or crashing the markets.

Furthermore, Molly can go to Sanctuary with a ton of bismuth and use Tool Constructs for a particle accelerator to turn bismuth-209 to gold-197 like Glenn Seaborg did back in 1981. Bismuth is like ~$10k a ton, while gold circa 2007 was around $22 million a ton. Put the synthesis in Chicago Synthetics.

But laundering it into the financial system without drawing undue attention from honest law enforcement officials who specifically track large scale money movement is quite another matter altogether. The US tracks money movement above $10,000, and while the supernatural often deals in gold and other tangibles as a primary medium of exchange, the mortal economy does not.

The first week of March has an (unclaimed) historical Mega Millions lottery jackpot for $390 million. Its the biggest lottery jackpot for 2007 in the US, and is claimed in the next drawing. Thats a lump sum payout of ~$203 million, or ~$127 million after federal and state taxes if filed in Delaware, which has no state taxes.

Subtract $27 million for family trust fund + Arctis Tor Adventurers fund, and that leaves Molly with ~$100 million.
A fifth of that 100 goes into real estate, the rest goes into whatever investments that provide plausibility for her assets doing Renaissance Fund-tier yields over the next couple years.

Note that this jackpot is only available for the March 2 drawing.
Its claimed in the March 6 drawing.
The next biggest unclaimed jackpot is in August, and its "only" $250 million.

So its a limited window thing.

I'm hoping it's the red court so we can announce our displeasure by going on a small rampage. Spend a few weeks just bouncing between the holdings of the rampires involved, burning things down and killing everyone higher up than mook on the totem pole as they crawl out.

It'll probably be more involved than that, but gratuitous quantities of good old fashioned violence would be nice.

And we have a big list of magic stuff to make. We could use more rampire corpses, our storage of them is quite low.

@DragonParadox: assuming we were ever in position to do that, is there anything in rules or lore that would prevent us from binding Camatoz to renewably harvest Splendor resources?

Phone posting so this is going to be brief but splendor components are not just material things, they are the final part of that being's story. For things that are much more powerful like am exalt living pieces of their stilul ongoing story work, random vamps not so much, unless it is the Red king in a box or the like.

You heard him boys, next time we take on the Red Court our aim is to stuff a dismembered Lord of Outer Night into a box for infinite Splendor materials. They're called human rights for a reason! :V

1) We have already talked about gold transmutation - this is basically the most inefficient way to obtain riches, especially when you can, you know, just mine for gold in sanctuary. I will vehemently oppose it always, because it offends my sensibilities as utterly nonsensical.

2) We can get legal money by selling precious metals through Odin and, if we really want to, through LoC or by contacting the Federal government.

3) You still haven't answered. What are you planning to do with tens of millions of dollars? What do you need them for? You mention real estate, but we don't need lottery money for that at all. We generate enough money via diamond making already. Better to start laundering innovations from the Courts instead, raking in profit. We have a contact at the highest level of the government (Federal Reserve head). Brief him, and establish proper contact.

4) Winning the lottery brings in scrutiny from the supernatural side we don't want. While it's completely fine to win the lottery from the perspective of mundanes, Molly Carpenter is a known seer of some significant ability on the supernatural side, including supernatural law enforcement side. I would expect both LoC and WC to have questions for us if we win the lottery, and, aside from that, and perhaps even more importantly, doing so reveals more about the Crown of Eyes - a secret we try to keep. You shouldn't act as if it's completely without downsides.

5) The assumption that the payoffs in the lotteries are the same as in real world is problematic - we know that the head of the federal reserve is different, the weather is different, the climate is a bit different (less global warming) and by now global macroeconomic situation will be starting to become different. So, I wouldn't assume we need to rush. @DragonParadox what is your opinion here? Is there a benefit to timing winning the lottery to real world largest lottery payoffs?

If we are spending an AP on increasing our finance background would be to talk to USA government, or perhaps WC (who, as you mentioned, are old money) to expand trade of rare earths and perhaps transuranic elements with the Courts (we also have naturally occurring superconductors which can be exported), set up Earthside manufacturing of stuff ( @DragonParadox I assume that we have at least as good of a superconductor manufacturing as current real world, i.e. high temperature type-II superconductors viable at boiling nitrogen temperatures as mature technology - is that correct? Or are we actually better (do we have access to room temperature ones?); I am really anticipating more knowledge on technology), or use the Crown to drain Red Court bank accounts (two questions using two of Rec Court functionaries whom we can observe from RVD: "what are Red Courts' bank accounts from largest to smallest?" and "what are the access codes to Red Courts' bank accounts). Any of those provide much more benefit, both monetarily (we are talking at least billions here, hundreds of billions across several years in some cases) and non-monetarily, i.e. politically.

As for chips yeah, you could produce them to far above modern quality, but they would look.... odd
Not chips. Superconding wire or tape. In real life the most modern type of superconductor tape (which can either be used by itself or to manufacture a more complicated superconducting cable) looks something like this.

This is very much new industry. In 2006 high temperature superconductors would not really be a thing, commercially speaking, they only started to come to market in the last decade.

Our courts have naturally occurring superconductivity I the Wastes, and advanced physics knowledge. My assumption is that this means we should be more advanced than modern Earth in real life, meaning at least 3 to 4 decades more advanced that dresdenverse Earth. And, since this is high-tech material manufacturing, while the manufacturing process might involve magic, the resulting material is still a material and can thus be sold pretty safely / without major masquerade disruption. This, as well as advanced alloys is actually something I think we are best posed to enter the markets with. I can do a more detailed write-up on how it works later.

The applications are numerous, from revamping electric grids, to making jet and spacecraft engines, maglev trains, new efficient energy storage, nuclear fusion, and medicine (MRI)

Yep, you could sell alien crystals too.

Though you would have to make a deal with the LoC to sell stuff like that to the US government

I don't intend to limit sales to USA government, though they would naturally be first customers.

What level of advancement was we talking about, anyway? I think I remember something about using minor enchantments to keep superconductors frozen while they are in a room temperature environment. If we are talking about boiling nitrogen temperatures, then we are looking at tens of billions of dollars per year industry we can pretty much monopolize. If we are talking about thermoelectric cooling levels of coldness, we are looking at upper hundreds of billions of dollars industry, and also geopolitics of far north becoming very lucrative for industry due to cheap cooling.

In any case, this isn't (just) LoC jurisdiction, I think. We have a phone of the secretary of Federal Reserve. If we want to get into massive, geopolitics altering trade business with USA government, we naturally need to brief him, and go that way.

Magic is very good at playing with thermodynamics, so yeah boiling nitrogen temperatures are relatively common. Go lower than that and you need sorcerer-technicians
