Green Flame Rising (Exalted vs Dresden Files)

Superman has changed a lot of over the years and yet still has many fans. Same principle can likely work with real people who change overtime.
Given the long age and the ability to change well quickly unlike many beings in the Dresden files. there are likely warriors who've become philosophers and vice versa over the years. Philosophers that became entertainers and even drift within their own fields.

Let's go watch one of those full scale colosseum battles that the Romans wish that they could put together.

Heck given death isn't permanent there are probably to the death competitions in our hell. We have an entire mega city where battle, strategy, weapons, perfecting of the arts of battle, guards, and so on are produced too.

It's not permanent it is also not trivial. I expect the full scale battles to have as much safety standards as they can without causing sacrifices to realism. Which is to say some people die, but not as many as it could have been and there is super good medi evcate.

In fairness there is enough ennui and enough cultural desensitization of it all that I'm sure there are specific places where its fine. Not to even mention a lot of people likely have old timey values from before the mega cities world government was a thing. There are probably at least a fair few people that have died hundreds of times.

"I bet that the Red Riot brings in the cup this year!"

"Not a chance the Golden Spiders got a new coach this year and have been tearing apart the qualifiers they are definately a shoe in. Red Riot doesn't stand a chance now that the Bliz Brothers retired."

"The Bliz Brothers were great with their spotter artillery combos, but Red Riot has alot more going for them then just that. They are masters of small unit tactics that work together for combined arms. Golden Spiders is all about huge formation Red Riot has this in the bag!"

"Well you going to put your money where your mouth is?"

As an example shadowrun has basically semi lethal blood sports like we do football. I imagine a place where people can't die, pain cybernetics probably exist, and ennui is present. Well there are probably sports which have safe versions. Bloodsports probably also exist. I mean fuck plenty of cyberdevils in certain platforms probably don't feel pain period so they probably have some too.

Shadowrun is by no means something to emulate.
Neither are bloodsports, of whatever kind.

Do recall that this is Molly's Hell. Not a Culture ship. There is only so much recreational suffering that she is going to be willing to accept as legitimate, nor is it supposed to be quite so post-scarcity that you can afford to burn resources whenever you want because you wanted as realistic a simulation of the dying process as possible or something similarly silly.

We have a literal city that has a culture of warriors, guardianship, weapons making, military strategy, etc etc. We also have beings over a thousand years old how is this that big a leap? Also recreational suffering this would all be voluntary? there's a city people go to whenever they want to die some people probably want to die fighting in some capacity and even if not and this is a bit too much. This is still a world where when robots questioned if they were sapient the first response was to murder the ai because that's just common sense if they respawn their sapient. This isn't even mentioning plenty of the people alive have got to be old school as in they've been around when the world was by and large more violent. Dying and respawning is not as bad as it sounds when you can come back fairly quickly without harm and you enjoy stuff like this. Its not very different from certain high risk activities people already do or people exploring the wastes here just because they might find something.

Also burn resources? Do you have any idea how much money is spent on sports in real life? I'm sure you do. Live fighting is not all that much more of a cost and life is being permanently spent.

Our kingdom might not be post-scarcity because such a thing doesn't really exist, but by earth standards our kingdom is super unbelievably rich. Comparing our economy to say American is a bit like comparing Americans economy to the Ancient Romen empire.

We are on a completely different scale. Just about every citizen of our kingdom is better educated and has more experience then at least 99.9% of earth. We have a united policy of a size that just doesn't exist on earth.

Consider every war and insurgency that has happened on earth for the past hundred years then save all that money and resources and have them invested into entertainment.

In short we have a giant unified population of 5 billion people who are all individually more productive on average than people living in first world countries. We are the zeroth world. If millionaires do something on Earth then average citizens likely do it in our kingdom.

It costs us 2m to move people to the Brass Courts, and we've already spent 4m in this scene.
We're going to flare anyway.

What we dont want is either of the two combat veterans here reacting to an unexpected occurence.
We should also probably warn them about Shintai. Is it possible for us to enter our Kingdom and not go Shintai?

Yeah being honest their also a culture that promote entertainment as a virtue one arguably more important than many other virtues. They have immortals dedicating themselves to it and a unified government with mega cities that carry their own niches and who are more advanced than earth in a world where consequences while still there well damage is less of a worry. Their gonna take some things to extremes that others would find insane.

While the cities are united and war between them is unheard of after unification the tribes in the jungles and the wastes are more under a sort of cultural hegemony. Battles between them and between them and city folk still happen. This does not change your point much, just wanted to have that out there, this is not a perfect world state, just one where the vast majority of people outside of the Labyrinth are worshipers of a religion that has Molly on top and where the urban population is in a confederation.

I am now imagining that the war games all take place in simulated earth locations.

We don't have to go Shintai, but we likely want to considering how our signature gives us minus one DC on all rolls if we incorporate out kingdom in our stunts. Which happens constantly when we are inside our kingdom.

OOC: A very short segment on some of the major players in Sanctuary, not the largest nor the most militarily powerful, but a goos howcase of what the local example of say a wiki page would look like. Of course behind the scenes things can get ugly fast, but this is the company with the most marketing experts among its memvers.

Did you mean to say memvers there at the end? Or is that a type-o?

Just a typo. Now fixed.

Vote is still quite close so I'll leave it up for a bit.
