Green Flame Rising (Exalted vs Dresden Files)

The only drawback of this is that it hits everyone around you, friend, foe or bystander, equally. And you apparently dont have the ability to modify the target set, or exempt chosen categories of people from the impact. This is precisely the sort of thing I would point at when I say a 4 dot Signature effect is supposed to be a big deal, tactically and narratively.
The drawback is that they're both explicitly on the same conditional. If you're in armor no debuff.
Its a fan work, not a professionally edited and playtested manuscript.
There's deficiencies that we have to work around.Thats not new.
You can still tell what the intent is.
Moving members in and out of clauses based on interpretation of authorial intent can have dramatic impacts on what something actually does. That's the realm of house rules, not obvious baselines for arguments prior to them being explicitly set.
-Duke Skavis almost unleashed a rampant Walker in the middle of a major US metro area.
Thats....not the act of someone who expects to survive the process. I suspect Harry and at least some members of Cauldron can hear this down in the sewers; Im pretty sure Porter, Bob, and every major spirit or fae in the Chicago area, can as well.
About to? He absolutely did, we've just corked the bottle with our finger. Which might not really be obvious from the outside beyond the potential radiant emissions of like 7 motes betting spent in less than a minute by an infernal anointed in the blood of a vampire princeling.

Really from the outside the most encouraging sign is that the two exploding flavors of horrible are currently clashing instead of going full Reese's Cup. :V

Edit:

My suggestion? Fight but do so in a respectful, knightly fashion yourself. Keep things proper and return courtesy for courtesy even while using our full might to kill the thing. Send it back to the waste beyond the sky with a smile on its 'face'.
Probably going to choke this guy down like a bad street burrito unless he's got a trick going for him.

Ideally we won't need to spend more than an evening sleeping this off, supposing we live, but he should definitely be super dead after this even if we're purging curses for the next few arcs from making it stick.

It has five dice of Agg armor, four guaranteed damage to soak could slip in a few critical extra hits.

I like stunts.

Incidentally, sounds like it's time to try for some GSNF. We can eat most of its Agg soak with it and get more of our attacks through. Just need to mind the essence burn.

—[X] On the next solid hit activate GSNF
GSNF is LITERALLY useless. They soak Agg and do so separately. Worse, they use their entire soak.

We are literally wasting 1 mote to do 4 damage that they are going to soak with no problems.
  1. Green Sun Nimbus Flare is presently soakable (by things that can soak Aggravated Damage). At Essence 4 that is no longer the case
So until we hit E4, GSNF is a waste of essence at best and something that will mote tap us at worst. The problem with the nerfed GSNF is as follows:

1. It costs 1 Essence and takes up the 1/3 Essence spending slots for that turn.
2. We spend Essence and depending on the dice, we may roll 0 damage. Meaning we waste 1 Essence and one Essence slot for that turn against a boss.
3. It does 4/5 agg which is well in soak range. Even otherwise, spending Essence on an Excellency is MUCH more efficient as we do more damage on average with an excellency.

I am using examples but the outsider would use his entire soak. So full soak used against our regular attack is rolled against GSNF. Armor and all, even though GSNF erupts internally.

GSNF is a dead charm till E4 in the current patch. The outsider will soak it and 5 dmg is soakable, thus wasting precious motes in a fight for no effect.

See the problem?

Yes I am trying not to be salty about the vote not to refund the XP into something useful.

Edit: I find it odd that not a single Wamp has wasted any time trying to put some mind whammy on us.

I think you underestimate Exalted.

We can exist in the chaos Outside. If we get back Wyld-shaping Charms we can even form it into more Reality.
And we can certainly strike back and permakill those outsiders most bend on direct action against Creation (assuming there are both those and other outsiders more interested in staying where they are).

Edit: Though admittedly, all of these are rather long-term goals.
I'm not actually totally sure we can well for the big outsider gods that is. I'm unsure killing them won't just make some neverborn equivalent or they already are. Though once we get really strong there is one old one we can do as a run their basically a cthulhu expy and live in the pacific. Gonna wait until we're essence five minimum for that sure but its there if we want to.

So, I'm assuming that Clippy is, indeed, running a constant recording of everything being said around us. This means that we should have at least two foci to use - the recoding, and (the pieces of) the body. We should probably use those to get context on "Empyrial Chaos" and "Prince of the Earth". If nothing else, learning about Theion should rouse some of Usum's memories. Damn, we desperately need one more focus, because "right chosen place" it wants to deliver our soul to is almost certainly goddamn important. We should probably use the damage to our armor / our wounds as the focus. We definitely need to ask questions. While pre-loading all our DC lowers and dice pool boosters to understand the answers.

Also, the mention of Empyrial Chaos is... troubling. If I understand correctly, the title belonged to Theion, not Malfeas. That this being refers to such implies it has memories / knowledge of such... Are we facing a (shadow of a shadow) of a subsoul of a neverborn?

Unless someone has a better question (maybe why does it respect us? Which gnats has it been destroying? Who are its masters?), I am ok to go with this.
its a good thing it doesn't have to be a quality focus to count as one. Cause I severely doubt electronics work well on recording outsiders.

Seems like someone was severely bored.

The question should be a supernatural secret.
We have already had our essence gain for the scene.

They would if any electronics would keep working in their presence. Cyber devils bodies don't have that problem.

I fully expect reality to glitch at least a little bit in its presence.

Edit: By the way anyone else expect to get a slightly useless response from the outsider? Like eons.
But the anima of a Prince of earth stabilizes reality*.

Yes. I fully expect the response to be slightly useless since it almost certainly is not going to be in terms of the Georgian calendar.

*Ok stable can be a matter of opinion. More like bends reality to fit the needs of said prince of earth.

If it's useless then why are people voting for it? Genuine question. I'm trying to decide what to vote on but don't want to waste essence.
Genuine answer: Because people are ignorant and don't realize it's useless.

Although I do sympathize. I don't like how this fight is going either. Can't see the rolls, but if the fight continues at the current rate it will take us 2 more rounds to win in which time we take 2 more lethal damage and we have more fighting after this.

They roll 5 dice against 4 damage, unless they roll pretty well we'll probably get at least 1-2 points across. They only have 5 hit boxes left.

The goal is race to the bottom, and the other attack is happening at the same time, even if it's soaked separately. I don't care if GSNF only does 1 damage as long as it's the last hit or cuts a turn off his remaining lifespan.

Unless he gets lucky we could eat most of what he's got left in one more round. If we get lucky then he dies or uses a perfect.

Buying time like this is valuable because it constrains enemy responses, especially if they think they're starting to lose. I'd say killing the Outsider 1 round faster is a conservative estimate of the result here, and worth a mote to attempt.

Note I'm not saying to spam our essence pool
dry, just to gamble a little on a single hit to shorten the fight where we can. For all the cries of uselessness GSNF has ended or nearly ended the fights we've actually used it in under the same rules we're using now.

Does that even do anything? He has 5 dice to soak it with. So 4 damage soaked by 5 dice.
Has to actually roll them and we don't, unless he gets a near perfect score we get additional damage on the round. He can soak but not defend so those dice are the only ones he gets too.

You think Charles is attacking Lydia in the back right now or do you think that he will be more of a long term problem? It feels overly optimistic to hope that he heroically dies fighting on our side during the purge.

The thing is he has summoned/possessed by an outsider.

The moment he dies, it is free and the real fight begins.

Saving motes for that is essential because this is just the first phase of a boss fight.

I'm not sure thats how it works especially if we use the spirit killer charm. Given I'm not sure it doesn't work like that either.
