Green Flame Rising (Exalted vs Dresden Files)

I'll be honest, I was expecting her too look more other… or, perhaps, Other.
You know, eyes the color of glacier ice, pale blue lips, the whole shebang.

That was passable.

I'm reluctant to let her have the initiative, but I'm concerned about the potential of looking desperate if we push in the default directions.

Maybe we could stunt it somehow to get Mab to tip her hand on what she's after without completely surrendering control of the follow up?

Just had a thought about something I don't believe has been mentioned yet; can a Mantle, not merely it's wielder, succumb to Nemesis infection?

COMMENTARY
-Loling at Bones bailing fast. Smart man.
Interesting that Mac has quietly absented himself as well, or at least made himself inconspicuous.

-That picture looks rather more alien than Mab usually appears to Molly.
I wonder what she saw in Molly that surprised her.

-Hellscry Chakra immediately demonstrates why I wanted it so badly before this meeting, and why its worth every penny we paid for it.
As you turn your head you realize the colors dancing though the air like reflections of the aurora borealis are the Queen of Winter's aura reaching all the way to the table in the corner to the door. Without the wardline they might even spill out into the street

Daunting as that may be the colors tell a tale. Among the blue grey of winter, the threat of imperishable silver that marks a queen sure as a crown upon her head you see vivid heart's red, pathos paired with the pulsing yellow like falling leaves, fear, but not the immediate kind that would mix with the red, instead it rises like smoke to play among the rafters, a distant all pervasive dread. One might almost call it existential.
Mab's afraid, but not immediate fear, not of us.
Existential dread.
Thats the kind of insight that frankly we would be hard pressed to get from any other source.

The pathos part is also of interest to me.
Very much a peek behind the mask.

-More generally, Mab has a massive aura.
Interesting that the bar's wards are strong enough to keep them shielded from observation.
It is certainly nice to confirm there's nothing else in her head besides herself.

-The table/chair we're sitting at is probably a workable focus for the Crown.
So that should cover ONE of the questions we currently have for Mab.

Rolls
Appearance rolls: Molly vs Mab (literally even so no one gets any advantage)
First Salvo: Molly vs Mab (You lose hard, but can you hide how hard?)
Damage Control: Molly* vs Mab (Yup, though it's close)
Hellscry Chakra
Examining the Flute
*This should be Etiquette but the Roll's the same so I left it in
Yup. Appearance is important in social situations.
Gonna need to buy at least Appearance 3 by next year IC.

LOL at getting obliterated in first impressions, but managing to hide it.

QUESTION
1) Didn't Molly follow up on asking Dresden or Bob about Slade?
The details of how Summer Knight played out are more or less open knowledge in Faerie.
I would have thought that she would already know why the Winter Knight is currently being turned into a popsicle.

2)Worth noting:
We have All Things Betray active for -3DC to Perception rolls, and Hellscry Chakra is a Perception + Occult at DC6. We should have been rolling Hellscry Chakra at DC3 instead after ATB.
7 successes instead of 4. Legendary.

Similarly, the Perception + Occult roll for examining the flute should have been DC3 instead of DC6, which would have been 8 successes instead of 5.
Not as much of a big change there.

I would think not.
Maeve being Nfested did not affect Molly. And I presume if it was possible, Nemesis would have spent the several years in Maeve's head imprinting itself into the Winter Lady Mantle.

If it's possible at all, I assume the process would not be quick or easy.

Just something to consider when we end up dealing with beings who may have been infected for a very long time. Mantles can be altered, after all, as we saw with Arawn.

  1. She is aware that Slade is an asshole, but is of the opinion that no amount of being an asshole is worth that. Keep in mind this is Molly Carpenter, daughter of the man whose sworn duty before God is first to save the Denarians from the Fallen if he can. Slade is not worse than Nicodemus.
  2. Yeah, I remembered that, just forgot to note it, that is why you got deep aura sight that needs 5 successes. 7 does not do anything special. If you somehow rolled 10+ you would start hearing snippets of people's thoughts echoing off their auras

1)Asshole sure. But Is she aware of the details?

That he was, apparently of his own free will, involved in a plot to betray Winter that would have caused civilian megadeaths due to the change in the magical power balance and its effects on climate, a plot that resulted in the death of the former Summer Knight and Summer Lady?

Something that seldom comes up is that Aurora, as Titania's daughter, was Mab's niece as well as Maeve/Sarissa's cousin.Which probably adds a certain...spice to those events.

2)Ah, okay. Cool.

QUESTION
Do we pick one question option, or several at once?

A token for a token. We have made an exchange that at least has a superficial appearance of being in good faith on both sides, at least in respect to the old principles of Hospitium/Xenia, and she even... in her way... said she was glad we were alright. Whatever games Mab might be playing on the surface, leviathans beneath the sea ice, what we have to react to here is about as nice and gentle as such things come.

Its courtliness wielded as a knife but I much prefer that to a knife being wielded as a knife.

If we can keep things on this level then I imagine we would be quite willing to be Winter's best friend. We're dealing with everyone wlse: Red and White Courts, lifeforce eating BDSM spirits, elements within the hells of civilization gone cancerous, we're even being really pleasant to Lash and would probably get along with her even better if we could see the girl. We just want everyone to play ball with one another.

The moment Nemesis comes up, though, we'll be sitting in liquid nitrogen though.
What are we going to be able to do with this?
Its a peace offering from goddamn Mab, even if 'peace' doesn't mean the same thing as it might to humans. Its worth more as a symbolic construct than as an item.

If she gave us a single mundane rose I would have had suggested we have it cryogenically frozen in a perfectly transparent, flawless block of ice to make it last. Symbols matter.

Mab probably isn't getting much use out of the car either but having it there is means something on her end too.

We gave Mab a gift that took a small amount of our time and resources to give her something she doesn't actually need, but is nice.

She in return gave us a gift that took a small amount of her time and resources to give us something WE don't actually need, but is nice.

You give it to a child (or other innocent soul) and if they play it they have a mid level veil on demand against anyone who might be hunting them with ill intent. Even someone who might see through it might still hesitate to attack the child because it is blatantly Winter magic
Which sibling should we give it to?

Yep, fey are into equal exchanges, though the gift was probably also chosen with some care to say something Molly thinks. Mab must have had this thing at least metaphorically to hand. She does not think Mab can just conjure arbitrary magic items at need.
