[X] Blue moon
Because blue moon in folklore is a symbol of abundance
Red moon a disaster
Green moon the passage from the world of the dead to the world of the living.

(Sorry for my English i'm French)

1 : since I alterned between both, without being able to decide : Should I show checks in spoilers at the end of each update ? (In order to avoid breaking immersion and/or using invisitext for mobile readers) Or do you prefer another way?
Spoilers at the end for battles and other narrative events sounds good. Since turn results are broken up by gamey stuff anyways though, I generally prefer having those just there with nothing hiding them - maybe put them at the end of each section with the success/fail message?

[x] Green Moon

Green is the better color. Green also means life ,and we are going to need it with Dace timer clocking down to death.

Blue Moon

Now entering Dangerous zone. Danger level : 88. Very dangerous. The Jack of Clubs' hunting ground.
Creature type : 4 : Balverine x 8.
Hazard dices : 8

The streets were empty enough, the girl decided, biting her lip in worry, walking hesitantly in the shadows. She held the strap of her bag tighter when the cold night wind hit her. In the distance, she could hear people screaming, animalistic roars and howls, accompanied by the sound of gunfire and glass breaking. It would be easy for her to locate the fight and join whatever resistance force was here. She was alone here...
That particular street had been relatively spared from the destruction, oddly enough.
Perception check : Required 35 : Pass.
Odd was a good term, she decided. They never left anything intact behind them. Most likely, they were still there, somewhere, waiting for her to trip and eat her or worse-
Willpower check : Required 35 : Pass. +5 Stress.
She leaned against the wall and took deep, measured breaths. Panicking won't help. Panicking only lead people to do stupid things, like running towards the monsters, or trampling fallen people on the streets. Panicking made you easy pickings.
Enemy furtivity roll : 39 + 50 (Stealth) = 89 Success. Stealth attack! -5 HP (15/20)
Resistance roll : 97 : Resisted Moonlit Madness infection.

It was probably because she was busy calming herself down that she didn't notice the creature until it was on the ground in front of her.
It had a hunched body, covered in dark fur, had wicked looking claws, a maw full of teeth and glowing yellow eyes. It howled and swiped in front of it with its hand, and she couldn't help but scream as it clipped her arm. The creature suddenly jumped up, disappearing, but she could see its form illuminated by the stars over the rooftops, moving around and panting.
Empathy check: 40 , 50 : Partial success.
It wanted... It wanted to hunt her down. It could have killed her right here and now, but it didn't.
Laeticia wanted to scream.
Willpower Check : 40 : Pass, ??? Activated , +5 Stress.
But she couldn't. She began running, the noises of the beast all around her, informing her it wasn't alone. She needed to get away from the buildings, those things disliked open zones.
Hazard roll : 86 : She trips.
Agility check : 30 : Failure
Endurance check : 20 : Pass.
Time lost : 1

A loose stone on the pavement rolled away as she ran on it, causing her to trip and fall onto her side. She ignored it and immediately got out/
Her eyes scanned the place, and in the end, she decided to go over the bridge. It was covered in cars that crashed against eachother
Hazard roll: 9.
However, it seemed the beasts weren't the thing she had to worry about the most, as when she as running, a tremor in the ground made the structure's main pillar fall sideways, causing the rest of it to follow it in the churning waters of the Loire. With Laeticia on it.
This time, Laeticia screamed for real, as she held onto her bag with her good arm.
Agility check: 40 : Failure
Strength Check: 40 : Failure
Endurance check: 30 : Pass
-10 HP (5/20)
Resistance roll : 39 : wound infected.

However, having never been seriously hurt before, she underestimated how much having broken glass spear itself through her already injured arm would hurt, and she couldn't help but open her mouth under the water, losing her grip over her bag, that floated up.
Hazard roll : 6.
Agility check: 40 : Failure
Strength Check: 40 : Failure
Endurance check: 40 : Failure
-5 HP (0/20) Weakened state activated.
Resistance roll : 16 : Necrosis settles in.

The bag's strap, however, was well fastened, and while it moved, it was to better settle around her neck, which while it had the advantage to bring her closer to the surface, meant that it also strangled her as it caught onto some rock. She was nearing unconsciousness, her vision spotty, the sound of water roaring against her ears as her arms and limbs flailed uselessly along the currents.
Willpower Check: 30 : Pass
The pain started to disappear as she could see less and less, and it would be so easy to ignore the sensation her head was going to explode...
Willpower Check: 40 : Pass
But somehow, something called to her.
Willpower Check: 50 : Pass. ??? Activated. +1 HP, Weakened state lifted.
This wouldn't end here, this she knew. It was a certainty, even, no matter how grim this situation was, no matter how much it hurt to even think.
She.
Would.
Not.
Die.
Here.
Intervention roll : 95
Perhaps it was luck, or it was because they sought her out, the her from a few hours later would wonder, but someone saved her at that moment.
She felt the back of her green dress be caught in someone's grip and she was pulled out. Her body was limp and she couldn't breathe, however, water forced itself out of her without her input, allowing her to take a deep breath. The sound of cloth tearing up and the increased stinging caused her to turn her head, and she saw that the shadowed figure of her savior had just ripped her sleeved away.

"Aw, damn, this ain't good at all." Her savior was also male, according to his voice, though, she didn't understand a word of what he said. It sounded like what she thought English did, a bit, but the accent was different from what she was taught. The man got something out of this pocket and after blinking a bit, she managed to get a good look at him. He had messy light hair, though, too dark to be blond, but in the obscurity, she didn't really know what color it was. He had square glasses and a big vest that looked like was made of leather, with an American flag seemingly embroidered on it. Then, the stinging sensation disappeared completely and she looked down.
??? used Soothing balm. Healing roll : 84 + 70 (Restoration) = 154 : Wound healed, Infection and Necrosis cured.

Her arm was healed. In fact, if it weren't for the missing sleeve and blood, she wouldn't have thought she'd ever been wounded here at all.

The man waved his hands in front of her face and spoke again.

"Hey, I won't ask if you're alright, but we need to move."

She didn't understand it, but she recognized the urgency in his voice, which is why she let him pick her up and put her into what she recognized to be a fireman's carry. He then began to run very fast, and she noticed how cold it was, even for summer.

Hazard roll : 5 He is here.

They didn't go very far, only to a strange wooden contraption, vaguely looking like a carriage, when he suddenly threw her in, closed the door, and with a fluid movement, turned around as sparks began to fly.

Her savior was fighting against someone, who was wearing dark armor with masks over the chest, a green cloak, and a sewed, purple, white and green mask. The attacker stepped back to avoid a hit and she heard a voice, possibly coming from them, but again, it didn't sound like a human voice.

"Hoh? I should have known I would meet you here, traitor."

And of course, it seemed she wouldn't understand any of that either. The glass in front of her cracked and she ducked, her back to the wooden wall.

"Should be saying the same to you, Lancelot!"

The sound of metal hitting metal became louder and louder, until after a particularly shrill sound of metal being torn apart, she couldn't hear anything, save for the heavy sound of someone's steps in her direction. Then the door opened and revealed the man that led her here, with cuts over his arms and one bleeding over his eyebrow, his glasses nowhere to be seen.

Hazard roll : 9

Checked passed by ally.

His eyes widened and he lunged to the ground, one of his arms grabbing hers, making her touch an odd medal and she felt as if something hooked her navel and was dragging her. Then, came a kaleidoscope of colors all around her and she fell herself fly, until she landed face first on the ground. She laid there, exhausted and unwilling to move.

Now entering zafe zone, hazard rolls deactivated. 3 Remaining.

A hand, smaller than that of the man, gently turned her around, and a figure, wearing a velvety blue hooded robe and with a blank, metallic mask over their face, gently lifted her up after putting her arms under her shoulders and knees.

"Can you understand me? I admit my French isn't the best."

Laeticia nodded silently, secretly glad the woman spoke her language.

"Good. I think we both agree explanations can wait after a bath and good night's sleep?"

She nodded again, and she was carried to a room, simple, with a bed, a table, two chairs, and a pile of clothes. The woman laid her on the bed, before Laeticia felt as if she was examined.

"Hm. The bath will wait, you need sleep." she raised a thin stick and suddenly, the girl was dry, and so were her clothes. " The clothes on the table should fit you, and when you want to sleep, drink from the vial. It will keep the nightmares away. Do you want somebody to stay with you? Perhaps an animal? Cat? Dog?" Laeticia's eyes filled with tears. " Alright, no dog. Wait for a bit, I will get you a kitten and something to eat." The woman walked out of the room, leaving the girl alone.

Strangling the sob before it could go up her throat, she sat up on the bed and hugged her knees, her mother's citrine necklace a comforting weight under her clothes. She didn't want to be there. She wanted to be home, with her father and her mother, where she could climb into their bed and ask them to keep the nightmares away.

A flash, a memory from the cellar came briefly to her mind and she felt her eyes burn.

[X] Face it. Denial will only make it hurt more.

She.. She would never come back home.

Not when there was no home for her to come back to.

Huh. Bipolar dice strikes again.

Just so you know, the rolls were genuine. I've put all of them who aren't too spoilery, to give you an idea. just know there are more in the background.

So, yeah. Hard mode. Where each time you go to a zone deemed dangerous, I get to roll for how many times I can mess with the PC. Also, the hazard rolls don't get lost once you enter a safe zone, I just piggy bank them, and once they reach ten...

I was fairly sure Green Jack or the balverines would get her, but superior bullshit was at work and so she lived.

A DUDE NAMED JACK WITH A MASK MOTIF AND BALVERINES THAT CAN INFECT HUH

GEE I WONDER WHAT SERIES THIS IS? ;)

Nah but this was still pretty cool to see. What's especially interesting here are the implications of the Court having warring factions in it.

Really cool.

>Jack of X
>Balvarines
>Infections

OH FUCK OFF YOU PIECE OF LIZARD LEATHER I'M GOING TO SKIN YOU AND MOUNT YOU ON MY WALL!

...

But no seriously Fuck Jack

Gonna go grab my Tear and see how much he likes getting a sharp object rammed down his throat a second time...

So are hazard dice just a 'you're fucked no matter what' kind of thing since even a roll of 86 seems to have a negative effect?

Note that I modified the name following suits of cards.

Yes.It's a mechanic unique to hard mode.

It's like Chaos' ability. In fact, it's the same. Chaos can force each faction to go through a hazard roll each turn.
