New Lunar Charm Preview.

Whats better then a Tyrant Wizard Lunar?

How about a minuscule sized Tyrant Wizard !~

(Tyrant Mouse Dominion is awesome)

Any thoughts on how Dynastic politics would be affected by magically supported genderfluidity?

I'm vaguely imagining the head of some Tepet household saying, "My sons, I suppose you're all wondering why I've called you here today. As you're surely aware, our House has been having some... problems... lately. Over the past few years other senior Tepets and I have been conducting preliminary negotiations with representatives of certain prospective allies, running intensive geneaological research backward and forward, cross-checking it all astrologically, and otherwise hammering out long-term plans, and it seems there's just no getting around it: to effectively maintain Tepet's status as a Great House, at least one among the seven of you will soon need to be a daughter, instead. Better yet, two or three of you, for a solid majority of the next fifty years. That's why I had this manse built. The architects assure me a Stone of Gender Transformation will solidify in the hearthroom right over there, which leaves just under four weeks to work out among yourselves who's going to attune and use it. Volunteer, draw straws, set up a Gateway tournament, arm-wrestle, I don't particularly care - so long as the manse itself isn't damaged in the process, and none of you end up crippled, slain, or otherwise unfit for marriage. Any questions?"

Oh man, I just had an idea.

Like... a bird. A bird with a eye shaped mark on its chest. You summon it, and then you tell it what you want to know. What do you want to find out. Income levels? Soil fertility? Ethnic groups? Crime rates? Plant composition? Ok.

Then you set the bird to fly a few rounds.

Then the bird flies back. Then it either spits out, or lays an egg, containing a map of hard-to-damage silk, coloured, with helpful legends and indicators. That map, contains what you're searching for. The bird's eye mark is not for show. It is an immensely powerful spiritual organ, that lets the bird see anything it flies over. So the bird can make maps of anything it flies over, and also note down their characteristics. Plague outbreak? Get a map telling you of sickness concentrations. SEarching for land to make a farm? You can find out the soil fertility without going down there. Want a mine? Ask it to look out for mineral veins.

I'm just worried that this would ruin too many plot lines.
Sounds like a variant on the celestial circle spell Servant of Infallible Location. Sparrow made of blue flame, can find anything objectively definable so long as you've seen it before, have an arcane link, or it's within a quarter mile. Automatically pierces mundane concealment, contests magical anti-tracking precautions. Atlas of the Unconquered General, a 4-dot artifact from Wonders of the Lost Age, might also be a useful point of comparison.

Part of me is screaming at the horror of trying to navigate a game through such treacherous hazard-filled waters while another really wants to try.

"Oh fuck, Oh fuck, its a Lunar, Kill it, Kill it. Someone call up a Wyld Hunt"

Immaculate Monk: "Murderous heretic!" *jumps to defend*

I'm not kidding, Daana'd is explicitly called a transwoman in What Fire Has Wrought and she is part of why the Realm has open acceptance of trans characters. Someone who is truly genderfluid is going to result in some curious head tilts, but anyone who thinks "frequent transitions = Anathema" is going to get a lot of fingers quietly circling around temples.

Which is not to say it can't or shouldn't happen, but it sounds like a trait of someone who's been driven mad by fear of Anathema or is rapidly heading there. It's not a universal opinion by any means.

I was mostly going for a quick joke, but I suspect realm society wouldn't look anywhere near the same as it currently does if such magic and changes were a more common place thing. Might resemble more in the lines of a John Varley novel, rather then the current matriarchal society.

Only you know, the dragonblooded are the invaders and not the colonists.

(Honestly though, in the canon realm I suspect frequent public changes would likely attract immaculate attention, just to make sure you haven't caught a demon. What happens in House Cynis, stays in house Cynis)

i think it's more likely that, if people can't trace the cause of the effect to an appropriate cause, people are going to start asking pointed questions. It's not past the anathema to corrupt the faithful by suborning the immaculate faith, after all.

I imagine that the downside to Luna giving those who have gender dysphoria the best magical transition possible along with the Lunar Exaltation is that if they don't have the charm that lets them alter their true form, those who live in Immaculate Faith-observing societies are going to have the amazingly arduous task (well, unless Manipulation is one of their favored Attributes) of explaining exactly why they now look completely different (and that's if the initial anima banner surge doesn't get them killed or outed as a Lunar first).

today in lookshygame: the trilobite is the ultimate lifeform, all others are inferior, bow before your superiors

...You guys need to get out more.
getting out of somewhere was actually the whole reason that prompted this nonsense

What actually happened is that we were pre-Exaltation mortals exploring a dangerous cave, difficult to traverse and with a pool of water at the bottom, so this was actually a meaningful challenge for us. We were all arguing in circles about whether to take a dive into the waters and risk drowning to explore further, when Ekhidna ( my character)'s trilobite pet went out for a swim and a snack. He completely disappeared and then came back later clutching a scaled fish, proving a connection to some outside source of water. Then Navona (@mothematics's character) dove into the water before we could further argue whether to follow that lead, and the trilobite provided a stunt and a die bonus that, if not saved her life, allowed her to reach the secret occult place at the end of the cave, because it turned out to be a Survival roll to find the way in the dark and no Exalted PC invests in Survival ever.

So in a way the trilobite basically solved the spelunking plot for us and prompted a solid twenty minute of in-chat memeing

A clear demonstration of the superiority of the trilobites to the Exalted

If your post-Exaltation motivations don't include "demonstrate to people why they should respect trilobites as their just and proper masters" you have failed at life

So does this mean that you will be the prophets of the Dome Fossil and wage war against Lord Helix?

Uh, I played a game where we all had at least 3 dots, and we actually got plenty of use out of it. One character even had 5, which she used with her totem to track so many people. It's actually a neat ability lots of concepts can use, you just need to, ya know, want to use it. It also helps cut down on travelling overhead, if you know you can forage effectively, which means improved overland speed.

Also, reduces need for money if you can feed yourself and navigate without aids.

Ugh, the Tell. Why even have it? It's still got just as much of a badly-written-Deviantart-OC vibe as ever, and as written, it'll end up either generally ignored after one Charm purchase, or generally ignored in the first place by players who don't care about infiltration stuff. On top of that, it's got the thing where seeing it means automatically recognizing the person as the same specific Lunar, despite that being pretty nonsensical in a world where there are entire classes of supernatural beings that share the same distinguishing physical traits.

If Lunars desperately need to have some kind of weakness to detection, I would rather see them just have to make Disguise rolls to successfully pass as specific creatures.
