In my experience it's not so much down on people playing it so much as people clinging to the particulars of the old setting because a lot of obvious baiting goes on with that and now people tilt at windmills.

Well the Discord is pretty toxic about it. As said, SV is the most supportive of 2e, though we still see posts putting it down when a guy is just trying to run what he wants.

My Lunar New Year Solar dads collection is finally completed. Sadik Adnan, nobody suspect that he's a Night since the Dawn constantly wears black hoodie leather while emiting an aura of "Mysterious angry loner" :V

It has been a long time since I looked at L5R, but I was given to understand that the close relationship with the various spirits and certain aspects of the culture like honor having metaphysical weight made the average Samurai semi supernatural compared to gaijin. Though that may have been propaganda or fanon.

IIRC every culture has it's own magic and metaphysics, they tend to get weaker and less effective the further away from their originating country you get.

I mean, (imo) 2e is still the best system with complete rules for running Sidereals, Abyssals, Alchemicals, Infernals and (for at least a month or so more) Lunars.

(And the 3e version of Infernals, when it does eventually arrive, will probably be quite different)

Edit: Also the only system for TAW.

It seems more like Moonsilver armor to me, perfectly molding itself to the wearer's body, also probably holding some of their mass in Elsewhere.
To each their own! For myself I think it's too inorganic for moonsilver power armor and not really fitting into the ill-defined look I have for my mental take on lunars, if I used the image in a game, i'd make her a spiritual starmetal alchemical. I think the minimalism on the body fits in with the rarity of starmetal.

Except that Alchemicals' bodies are IIRC mostly constructed from clay.

Maybe this one is metal-over-clay in the same way that a human is skin-over-meat.

And on an entirely unrelated note, here's a funny (to me) pair of posts I stumbled across from earlier in this thread:

I do like the proposed idea of the WoD vs Exalted book they talked about...
I remember Holden going on record and saying that they most likely won't get approval for that book, and it'll be miraculous if it does happen.

:(
