Woah.... Director Piggot is a gambler? On workplace shipping of all things? So does that explain why the chart has ascended/descended to become a Great Old One?

naw, what happened is The Shipping Chart (always capitalize the names of Great Old Ones just to be safe) went sideways and did a quark screw along with a barrel roll as well to become a Great Old One. maybe add a flip or two to be safe.

This goes to show that when everyone assumes they are right, comedy ensues. Lung believes Taylor is playing the long game and Piggot still thinks she's a parahuman.
To be fair Taylor neatly falls under every practical definition of parahuman that Earth's Bet law enforcement got, is not as if they know the origin of the regular capes well enough for them to bother to diferenciate them from other sources of powers.

I binged this in a day (two?), and I'm not going to lie, I really love this story.

But my most favorite line is Oni Lee's "I pet a dog today.", not so much for how odd/funny it is, but because to him that it was the most important thing to him at the moment.

Also, on a side note - it's not like "the local wolf is, in fact, a literal god from heaven come to brighten our days" is exactly a mentally available, high-prior probability explanation. >.>

(Trivia: "Amaterasu" is a name, but it's also a very literal descriptor. 天照大神 amaterasu-omikami: the great god that illuminates the heavens.)

Sunny is currently gearing up for Halloween 2010.

The Undersiders were formed someone summer 2010 at the latest, likely towards the early end. Possibly as early as April 2010. I've wondered "hmm, when were the Undersiders formed?" often enough, and scraped up some canon clue or other in response, to be extremely confident in that.

So basically they should've been operating like 6 months or more by now.

All right then.

... you know, it just occurred to me that, in canon, the Undersiders hitting an ABB casino was what kicked off Lung's retaliation. Since everybody is associating "Brushstroke" with the ABB, it's easy to imagine Coil wanting the Undersiders to hit the shrine.

It's also easy to imagine Tattletale's power reacting... poorly... when she finally actually notices Ammy. Or Tattletale reacting poorly to what her power is telling her, either way.

Though suddenly I find it genuinely plausible that Rachel breaks from the group and Goes Good as a direct result of meeting Brushstroke/Good Dog.

"Hey. I like your wolf."

"My what?"

"Clearly taken good care of, she likes you a lot."

"Uuuh."

"WE ARE NOW FRIENDS."

"I'm scared."

I find this strangly possible.
So why am I scared as well?

Why would they "hit" the shrine? It's not like there's a lot of money sitting around, and while the wall scroll thingy is a cultural treasure it's not the sort of thing you can really fence for that very reason. If that kind of situation arises at all, it'll be one of the shops after the revitalized market district gets going.

Same reason Coil had them hit the fundraiser: reputation. The shrine is obviously important to Lung, so it would undermine his authority if it was attacked.

'Course, Lung isn't the one protecting the shrine, but Coil doesn't know that.

Because Coil. Remember how he was willing to pay them to hit the bank? They do missions because Coil wants them to, and the whole petty thieves thing is, honestly, basically a cover story with enough truth to it to be convincing.

I was also simplifying and not explicitly saying they might hit the stores Brushstroke owns. It's sort of academic whether they hit the shrine per se or hit the buildings surrounding it.

The Undersiders are in the middle of ransacking the Shrine and surrounding stores, when suddenly the light clicks on and Taylor's standing there with a full tea service.

Taylor: I hope you were planning on shutting the doors to prevent the breeze. It's getting chilly in here.
Also, the tea is ready, please sit.

Lisa: Is Lung coming? Or Oni Lee?

Taylor: How should I know? I only knew you were coming because Sunny told me.

Regent: Your dog told you we were coming?

Taylor: Yeah, she told me this morning.

Regent: What the hell Grue, you told her dog before you told me?

Grue: Shut up Regent, and sorry Brushstroke, but we're leaving.

Grue Whispering to Tattletale: We will be having words over what 'No capes will be there' means.

Grue opens the door, Sunny is sitting there, watching.

Grue shuts the door.

Grue: Right, on second thought, how about that tea.

Bitch: I'm staying with the wolf. Let me know when you're leaving.
