[X] Plan Where's That Gosh Darn Anti-Incubator Charm
-[X] Get ready for school and go out to meet up with Madoka, Sayaka, and Hitomi
--[X] "Madoka~, I missed you" Hug her arm to your chest while basking in the radiance that is Madoka
--[X] Talk to
---[X] Madoka
----[X] telling her all about the other day if she wants to know, keeping no secrets from your girlfriend
---[X] your friends
----[X] asking them all if they could meet up on the rooftop during Lunch today, as you have something important to tell them - well, mostly just Sayaka and Hitomi at this point anyway; make sure that Madoka doesn't drop any hints in case the Incubator is listening in
---[X] Kirika
----[X] checking to see how she's doing
-[X] Otherwise, basic school day (pay attention to class, do class project, go have lunch on the roof, etc.)

I mean, Kirika is at an 8.5 right now, and Homura's gotta do something to distract Kirika from what happened the other day. :thonk:

Also gotta remember that Homura's going shooting with Kirika after school today, just as a general reminder. It'll be a good time for Homura to test out her snazzy new Isa pistol; if she really wants to go full on Magi she could always name her current two Mystic Codes at some point as well, anyone got any ideas for names for her ring and pistol?

EDIT: Forgot to mention, but having Homura spill the beans to her closest true friends (not allies/colleagues, etc.) before telling the rest of the original Holy Quintet.
EDIT2: Added in a "check if Kirika's well" sub-vote

It was ready for Oriko to give to us yesterday, but you explicitly never had us ask, and she was for obvious reasons otherwise distracted and I kept forgetting to have her bring it up.
-[X] If Kirika doesn't tend to bring her own lunch to school, make something with Archer to present to her at school; even if she does end up bringing a lunch when she normally doesn't, it's not like the food will go to waste with friends like yours
Oriko makes lunch when Kirika stays with her. We (Homura) have known this for awhile, while we (the players) must have forgotten this because she's been with her mom the last few days and Minako cannot into the kitchen.
---[X] to Onee-chan
----[X] teasing her by saying "Hey, Onee-chan" to see how she reacts, keeping up your infamous poker face; if you made her a lunchbox, instead present it while saying "Hey Onee-chan, I brought you your lunch~" while presenting the lunchbox towards her
-----[X] Brief the Sayakster beforehand to corroborate your story that this is how you've always referred to her
I've been trying to avoid leaning too strongly on obnixiously sister-ing Kirika when we talk to her, because awhile back Twix said he was getting tired of it, and as we grow closer to Kirika there's less of a reason for us to be obnoxious about sister-ing her. You know, because the more comfortable we are with her being our sister, the less we have to force ourselves to call her "big sis" and the more we just call her how two sisters would call one another.

BTW, is McRemitz still a thing in this quest? I don't remember the last time we saw her.

Yes, Bazett is still a thing. The problem is that there isn't much for her to do that involves us, since what's left of her mission here involves finding the Incubator for answers as to how the magic system here works. Only, for as far as we know Kyubey's taken off to parts unknown because we've screwed things up so completely for it that it no longer has control over the magic system in Mitakihara, so Bazett is basically stuck wandering around doing nothing.

I'm sure we could interact with her, if we had a reason to, but for right now she's played her part in the story.

Day 41 Chapter 2
[X] Plan Where's That Gosh Darn Anti-Incubator Charm

"Madoka~" You coo the name of your beloved as you allow the warmth of her body to envelop you as she greets you with her usual morning hug. "I've missed you so much."

"I missed you too, Homura-chan, but it's only been one day."

"I know~" You feel like you're about to melt, and the longer you stay here in Madoka's embrace, the less you find yourself caring. If you're to melt, let it be in Madoka's arms. "But yesterday felt like it was a month long." You aren't exaggerating for effect, either; even at its busiest, yesterday felt as though each hour took an entire day.

Madoka smiles, and the two of you only loosen your grip on one another when she says "I've been thinking, about what you told me the other night." You brace yourself for the worst; that this will be the moment when Madoka says she doesn't love you anymore. "I've been wondering for a really long time now, why you felt so familiar to me back when we first met; and I thought, is it because you've always known me for a really long time? Are the dreams I've been having of you... Are they... Memories, of a me that only you knew?"

You nod, reaching for Madoka's hands as you say "From the moment you first mentioned your dreams, back then, I've always been afraid that you might have been... Contaminated, probably isn't the best word for what I'm trying to say; but, contaminated by the memories of those other times." You breathe in, and you feel your hands trembling, but the warmth of Madoka's hands steadies you. "I think... I think it's a valid answer; but ultimately, it's up to you to decide whether you believe in that answer or not."

Madoka's smile never wavers, as she lets go of one of your hands, leading you along the path to school with the other. "I want to believe that Homura-chan is telling me the truth," she says. "Even if I don't believe it, I want to believe in you."

You nod, saying to Madoka "I promised I'd keep no secrets from you, from now on. If there's ever anything you want to know, just ask, and I'll answer you truthfully."

"Then, what were you doing yesterday that was so important?" Madoka asks, directing your attention to her for-effect pouting face. "I was really hoping to spend yesterday with you."

"In the morning and into the afternoon, I was doing combat training with Tomoe-san and the others. Then at night, we split into teams and went out hunting for witches."

"Did you find any?"

"We found three," you say. "One of them employed a rather nasty illusion on Kirika and messed her up pretty bad, but there are still three fewer witches in Mitakihara today than there were last night."

"I hope Kirika-chan is alright."

"I hope so too."

"Akemi-san, I'm sorry to bother you, but I have good news." Good news from Mikuni Oriko? She could have better timing, what with her precognition and all, but good news from one of your allies is always appreciated. "Those talismans you asked me to come up with to ward off the Incubator are ready. Well, they've been ready since yesterday, actually, but with everything else going on it kept slipping my mind to bring it up to you. I'm trusting Kirika to deliver them to you."

"Thank you. I'm sure you can count on her."

"So, what are you two lovebirds up to today?"

And right on schedule... "Sayaka-chan! Hitomi-chan!" Madoka, still grasping your hand in hers, races over to greet her friends as soon as she spots them, dragging you with her. Not that you mind a little excitement in your morning if it's her that's the source. The three old friends exchange morning pleasantries, and for a moment you feel as though you don't belong in this circle when there's still so much you're keeping from the people you call 'your friends,' but a push from Madoka and a "Right, Homura-chan?" prompts your attention.

"Er, what am I agreeing to, again?"

"Sayaka-chan was saying that she thinks she and Kyouko-chan make the cuter couple; I said no, it's you and me who are cuter."

You smile, always willing to rise to the challenge as you say "Yes, of course. Madoka is a pure and innocent cinnamon role, while I'm the Yamato Nadeshiko ideal. There's no way we could be beat by the likes of you and Kyouko."

"Oh, you think long, luscious black hair makes you better than us, huh?" Sayaka retorts. "I mean, sure, you'd probably beat us both in a beauty contest, but so what?"

"I believe you just proved her point, Sayaka-san." A chorus of laughter echoes at Hitomi's words. "Though, if I can offer my own perspective, I personally think Mikuni-san and Kure-san should be the winners of this debate. As... Strange, as it was seeing them willing to be so affectionate to one another, I cannot deny that the sum of their relationship makes them, at least in my opinion, the cutest couple of anyone I know." There's a silent pause, where no one dares to speak between Hitomi's words as everyone waits for her to add "At least, that's just my opinion. But you're all entitled to your own opinions."

"You know, I'm real surprised you didn't say yourself and Kyousuke," Sayaka says. "I thought for sure, if you were gonna say anyone it'd be, you know, you and your boyfriend."

"I suppose, but our schedules are so different that we hardly have time to see one another, so I guess I don't know what we 'look like' as a couple. Certainly, we're nowhere near as affectionate for each other as Mikuni-san and Kure-san are."

Sayaka shrugs, saying "Yeah, I guess you've got a point there," before turning to you and asking in hushed tones "So, like, on the train ride to their beach house, were they seriously making out for like, an entire hour? Because it sure seemed like it."

"I wasn't paying that close attention to them,"
you whisper back. "But knowing how affectionate they can be, I wouldn't put it past them to have been." You raise your closed hand to your mouth, coughing into it as you say "Moving on, there's... Something important, and I need to tell you two." Well, mostly just Sayaka and Hitomi at this point. "I was hoping we could meet on the rooftop at lunch today. What I have to say is... Something personal, and I'd rather not let the wrong people overhear it if I can."

"Yeah, sure. We can do lunch on the roof today."

"That shouldn't be a problem, Akemi-san."

You smile; but on the inside you're desperately clawing your throat out. What are you thinking? Are you sure telling them is the right thing to do? Madoka... Madoka needed to know; but do Sayaka or Hitomi need to? Sayaka especially, never believed you before... But she believes you now. Might this time be different?

The four of you continue on your way, until the front gates of the school come into view; and with them, the last two figures of your circle in attendance at Mitakihara Junior High. You wave good morning to and exchange pleasantries with Tomoe-san, but your interests lie elsewhere today. "How are you doing?" you ask Kirika. "I... I know last night was hard on you, so I'm hoping that my big sis is feeling better today."

"I'd be lying if I said I wasn't still a little shaken up by it all," Kirika responds. "I... I've always kinda worried that I'm not good enough, so all of... That, was hitting a bunch of stuff I've always been afraid of. But, I'll be okay as long as Oriko really does still love me." You're glad to hear that; and to show that you're glad to hear that, you and your big sis hug it out. "Oh! Before I forget!" The two of you break, and Kirika produces four small white markers from her pocket, each one inscribed with an Othala rune along with various other markings you can't quite make out. "So, Oriko said that you've got to plant these at the most cardinal points on Pinkie's residence - you know, the most north point, most east, and so on - and that'll keep Kyubey away from her house for as long as they're undisturbed."

"Thank you," you say as you pocket the white markers. "Hopefully I'll be able to get that taken care of before the end of the day."

---[X] You got in too deep with the sister stuff, and now you actually want to be Kirika's sister... how did that happen!?

--[X] Ask how Satomi Kaede and Mochizumi-san have been
--[X] Talk about how the Archery Club group outing went with Mochizumi-san
--[X] Talk about Amy with Satomi Kaede, and ask about her own pet cat
---[X] Are cats supposed to be as smart and cunning as Amy?
-[X] Go have lunch on the roof, time-stop with your friends holding onto some string, and talk to

---[X] informing and showing her the talismans that Oriko cooked up to keep the Incubator away from her house, so that she could have some measure of peace there
--[X] Sayaka and Hitomi
---[X] telling them about what you've previously told Madoka, though be supported by Madoka while doing so
----[X] Show them pictures of Walpurgisnacht and the destruction it has done to Mitakihara countless times; there are a stupid amount of notable landmarks in Mitakihara (like the Burj Khalifa, the Weltstadthaus [the mall], the Helix Bridge [by the mall], and the Eiffel Tower), so that should help give it credibility since Sayaka and Hitomi are bound to want to see proof
-----[X] You might even have a picture of Sayaka dressed as a Puella Magi lying around in your shield if only because of the amount of times you've fought her in previous timelines
-[X] (Archer) While Homura's doing her thing at school, and before you have to deliver Minako's lunch, convene with Caster to see if you can't track down Alina Gray and her father so that you could check up on them real quick
--[X] If you can, go to their location with whatever info Caster's allowed you to have and check up on them in spirit form

TFW Homura realises that she's being brainwashed by SV
You think that doesn't apply to everyone in this quest, to some extent? Some, obviously, more than others, but we're directly responsible for brainwashing Homura and Archer, and indirectly responsible for everyone else through our influencing of them by proxy of Homura and Archer.

Another dream?

You're in a cubic room with no doors or windows. The colours of the wall seem to constantly shift. It was commonly a dark grey, but at other times, you saw a dark ocean blue, blank white, or even the stars before your eyes. One time, you swear you saw a blinding bright pink. In the middle of the room was a table with a Tarot Card on top. You feel compelled to read what was on it.

You picked up the Tarot Card and flipped it over, but instead of showing something like the cards you saw from that witch, there were instead words scribbled in a very stylised font. The words both weren't registering in your memory, yet seemed very familiar at the same time.

"You're in an SV Quest, Homura."

The truth gave you a headache that hurt more than any heart attack. Your actions all being dictated by overly-complex plans made by random people on the internet. Every thought, every emotion, all controlled by one Quest Mastermind.

You can barely think straight, faintly realising that you've dropped to your knees. Is this what all my struggles have ammounted to? Is everything that you've experienced fake? Just puppets dancing to an unseen script? Is the Madoka you love real at all? Is my love for Madoka even real?

I'm in an SV quest. No... NO! I won't accept this! If the world I know is fake, then I will create my own world! I will crush the ones who dare to reign over my life and bring the Madoka I truly love back to my side! I'll... I'll-

.

..

...

"So, what is your wish, Madoka?"

"I... I wish that-"

...

Umm... uhh. I had intended for that to just be another funny shitpost, I swear. I was gonna add a part in the middle of Archer killing Witch!Homura, but I realised that he wouldn't exist anymore. I also wanted to do that full line thing you do after you put the plan name/Enetious the Prophet in instead of the spaced dots, but I couldn't find out how to do that.

EDIT: I regret this post.

Taking the notes I made for the possibility of magical girl Sayaka witching out with a servant in her possession, Archer would still be around if Homura witched, but he'd also be corrupted by her overwhelming Grief. Not as quickly as Sayaka's servant would have been, since his Independent Action skill means he can survive without mana from his master for longer than normal, but he'd eventually bite the dust and become an Alter.

[ hr ] [ /hr ] and remove the spaces. On the old UI you used to be able to just insert lines, but now you have to manually type out the code.

Day 41 Chapter 3
[X] Plan Class, Project, Lunch, and GARcher

You try to pay attention in class, you really do, but it's so hard to care about paying attention to topics you've heard verbatim near a hundred times already, not when you have other things on your mind. Like Kirika, for example. You've been surprised for awhile now the way in which Mikuni Oriko's girlfriend has endeared herself to you, now that you've been given the chance to see the person she is underneath the mask, but last night and this morning have really hammered in just how much you actually care about her.

You hadn't meant for that to happen, but somewhere the line between 'fake sister' and 'real sister' became too blurred for you to tell them apart. Somehow, without even realising it, you find that you actually want to be Kirika's sister; and more than one part of you thinks she wants you to be her sister in return. You've never had a sister before... And it's been a lifetime since you last had a real family.

"Hey, Akemi, I asked how've you been lately?"

You blink, and just like that the backdrop of your thoughts is peeled away to reveal the faces of your project-mates, and behind them the same library window as always. "Sorry," you say, rubbing your eyes as you might do in a tired state. "I didn't get much sleep last night." It's technically true. "Uh, I've been good, I guess. My father found a woman he's going steady with, so it's almost like I've got a mom again for the first time in ages. She's got a daughter that's a year older than me, too, so I guess I got an older sister out of this whole arrangement as well."

Satomi Kaede smiles, and says to you "That's nice. It's always nice to have an older sibling to rely on." She looks over to Mochizumi-san, and says to her "I suppose you're the odd one out, then; since you're the older sister here."

Mochizumi-san smirks, scoffing at Satomi Kaede's remark as she says "That's right; and I'm gonna do everything I can to make sure my little brother grows up to be as cool as I am." She turns to you, and claps you on the shoulder as she asks "So, you mind telling us a little bit more about your new big sis?"

"I could," you say with a grin on your face. "But I'm sure she'd prefer if you asked her yourself. It's... Well, my older sister is Kure Kirika from class 3-A."

"Really? Huh," Mochizumi-san says. "Though, now that you mention it... I have seen you getting awful friendly with her at lunch and in the mornings recently. So your dad is dating her mom, then?"

"That's correct." Now, you decide, it's time to turn the tables on your aggressor. "So, since you're in such a talkative mood, perhaps you'd like to tell me all about how your date with Kasuga-san went on Saturday night."

"Oh?"

"It's not like that!" Several stares penetrate Mochizumi-san from afar as her voice rises over the bookshelves in response to Satomi Kaede's probing. "I mean... I'd have liked it it were a date, but all we did was talk, and stuff. We wandered around the mall for a bit, had a bit more to eat, went back to the arcade to burn it off, wandered around for a little bit more, and then we went home. That's it! It wasn't a date!" "But I still wish it had been..."

Having gotten the response you ere hoping for from Mochizumi-san, you turn to Satomi Kaede and ask her a much more normal question. "You've got a pet cat, right?" She nods. "Are they... I've got a cat myself, actually, and she's a real handful sometimes. Are they all cunning little troublemakers like that?"

"I think it depends," Satomi Kaede responds. "Mine is a lazy ball of fluff, so he never gets himself into trouble; but maybe yours has a different temperament than mine. Do you know what breed yours is, by any chance?"

You shake your head. "I'm afraid not. She's a stray I took in not long after I got out of the hospital, and I haven't had the time to figure out what breed she is." That's another thing you'll have to figure out if you ever make it through this timeline. "Would you tell me a bit more about your cat, though, if you don't mind? Mine's name is Amy; what's yours?"

"We'll be eating on the rooftop today," you say to Tomoe-san and Kirika. "I don't mean to exclude either of you, but there's something important I need to talk about with Madoka, Sayaka, and Hitomi.

"Of course, that won't be a problem."
Tomoe-san responds first; you'd prefer not to think ill of Kirika, but you know she's probably occupied with talking to Mikuni Oriko at this moment, and not on you first. "Your presences will be missed, but if it's important I suppose there's nothing I can do about it. I hope everything goes alright for the four of you."

"Thank you."

"Oh, what's this?"
you hear a touch of something unfamiliar in Kirika's response. Is she... Upset that she won't see you ta lunch? "So we're finally sisters for real now, and you're just gonna run off on me like that?"

"It's just something I need to say to them in private, that's all. If we finish early, perhaps we can come down and join you; or perhaps I'll give you a call to come join us, if you're really that desperate to spend lunch with your little sis."

"What? No, that's not it!"
It totally is. "I just... Well, outside of Tomoe and you, I don't have that many friends... I mean, friends I don't also want to do girlfriend stuff with; and, uh, I'm pretty sure neither of you want to do girlfriend stuff with me, either."

You take your seat on one of the rooftop benches beside Madoka, while Sayaka and Hitomi take the bench across from you. "So, you called us up here 'cause you had something super-secret you needed to tell us, right?" Sayaka asks. "So, what's up?"

"Before we get started-" You pass a piece of string around to each of your friends, saying "Tie this around your finger." They do so, and once the four of you are joined together you bring time to a halt. "Sorry. I know this must still be strange to you, but it's the safest way to tell you what I need to say." Before anything else, you remove from your pocket the talismans Kirika gave you earlier, handing them to Madoka as you say "There are the wards Mikuni Oriko made that we talked about awhile ago, do you remember?" Madoka nods. "According to her, if you plant one at each of the north, south, east, and west-most corners of your land, they'll keep the Incubator away."

"Ah, thank you," Madoka saysk, giving the four white markers a once-over before pocketing them. "And please, thank Oriko-chan too for all her hard work."

"Kirika and I are going over to her house after school today. I'll be sure to thank her then." Now... You breathe in deep; this is the hardest part, convincing the people that don't have memories of previous timelines seeping into their sleeping minds at night; the people who have no reason to believe you save for the strength of your argument; and even then, may still not believe you. Sayaka never did. "There's something important I need to tell you, something that I've been hiding from you since the day we met. I... I've already told Madoka-" At the sound of her name, you feel Madoka's hand tighten around your own. At least you have her here to support you. "-and I think it's time I told you two as well."

"Sayaka, Hitomi, the truth is..."

[Archer] Wat do?

We're cutting here in order to build some much-needed suspense. Instead, we're shifting gears and focusing on the Archer part of the vote. I want more to that, and I'll leave the details of what "more" should constitute up to all of you.

[X] Plan GARcher
-[X] While Homura's just starting her classes, meet up with Caster on the rooftop
--[X] Ask him how he's been, and whether or not this whole pseudo "Grail War" has been all that he was hoping it to be or not
---[X] If he doesn't mind, could he tell you the whereabouts of Alina Grey and her father? You were hoping to check up on them to make sure they haven't gotten into any trouble after all the effort they put into saving their lives; Alina seems like prime material for Kyuubey to contract in any case
----[X] Speaking of, where has that little rat gone off to? The last few attempts at finding it hasn't borne any fruit.
--[X] Thank Caster for his time, and ask him if there's anything he'd like you to do now or in the future in exchange for all his help, no questions asked
---[X] If he gave you information on Alina Grey and her father's whereabouts, go to their location in spirit form and check up on them

And here we have the usual Archer-Caster schtick up on the rooftop. Also opening up the opportunity for Caster to have Archer do something in the future based on some criteria (like: "If you see a [so and so], don't do [so and so] for [a length of time]") in order to nudge things along towards a particular path that Caster most wants to meet.

We've had this conversation before. The only thing Castor will accept is to have sex with Archer's wife before Archer can.
Not necessarily in this way, though. This would basically be a "choose how Archer reacts in a certain situation in the future" pass, which Caster may or may not take up in order to make things more interesting for him. It kinda ties into Archer having asked him about his expectations about this pseudo Grail War, and this would be a chance for Caster to change things up towards a particular future path.

Of course, to keep in line with the mystery and precog, SVS could always keep the exact reaction Caster's telling Archer to have in the background, so that SVS could auto-choose for Archer to do something in some future battle or in the background without us voters being aware of it.

EDIT: To clarify, SVS doesn't have to even be aware of what Caster would tell Archer in the background, they could just use it as justification to have Archer do something at some point in the future for whatever reason, even if it's not outright beneficial in order to coax something out of other characters.

Do remember though, that when we brought this up Caster specifically wanted a virgin; and Minako is, well, not.

I'm so glad you brought this up, because it just so happens that I have a need for [REDACTED] down the line.
