Consider discussion with @Skarmory about the Mami line, though. I think I agree with the general idea that if we can sort of avoid talking about Mami, it'll help. The line you have is good for if someone asks about it, but needn't be said without prompting.

the goddess has appeared before Ryouko in this mysterious and possibly dire situation. Although she may not be the goddess, she is definitely connected to the goddess.

[X] Plan B: Be honest but exclude details like magic, future technology, future locations, divine intervention, and time travel. Ryouko has relatives in the city although she hasn't met them (or they haven't met her). She lived in an apartment with her parents and grandfather before going off to live on her own because she wanted to see what's out there. She doesn't have any money and can't contact her family(what's a phone? we never had one.). She was thinking about attending school with them but doesn't have a uniform to do so. She doesn't want to talk about how she ended up in this situation at the moment and isn't sure on all the details herself at the moment. Try sounding out how different people react to different things to see who would give Ryouko aid. If isolated try sounding out topics like "magic"(wouldn't it be interesting), "the future", or "fuzzy little creatures" to see if Ryouko can share more of the truth with that individual but refer to MSY protocols if relevant. If violence or serious threats occur from the girls to Ryouko, Plan C.
being able to interact with other people normally will help in investigating and Ryouko will have to take care of her physical needs somehow. Don't share what you can't prove without causing harm to others or Ryouko. If it's important, be convincing even if we don't have proof to show. Honesty will require less acting and help others get an idea who Ryouko is character wise even if they don't know the details.

[X] Plan C: Break line of sight and evacuate as calmly and politely as possible. Once out of sight, if necessary, teleport to unoccupied area, regroup, preform non-invasive reconnaissance, and keep further interactions to magical girls and those related until further notice. Get into contact with Mami or current magical girl in charge of the area. If there are no magical girls Plan D.
If Ryouko can't negotiate with the other party for aid or get further information from them, her needs can be met through other means and priority should b given to the larger issue first

[X] Plan D: conserve magic as much as possible while looking for another means to cleanse Ryouko's sold gem while trying to integrate Ryouko into present society. If there's no magic solution then you're not sure what to do. Get ready for the squids if you might live that long.
we have yet to see anything magical that isn't us so focus on Ryouko's survival and humanity's impending doom.
 
I'm still not a huge fan of contacting Mami, but at this point it seems better than the alternatives.

I am sorely disappointed that no one seems to have appreciated Clarisse's opinions on communication protocols.

If we make an explicitly magical approach on Mami there's a chance she thinks we are a hostile intruding on her territory. We should establish a mundane connection with her first.

Better than JB's vote imo. Nobody has ever bought the 'just a weird situation, can't explain' excuse in a quest. Or in real life, for that matter. If Asami told us something like that, we wouldn't believe her.

Yeah, AlphaDelta seems to have a better idea. It's vague enough to be hard to challenge, gives us a reason to be out of uniform.

Alright, I've since been convinced that "it's odd but I cannot talk about it" is a bit too much suspicious. I'm thus changing some things in the Bradshaw vote:

Umm... going by what I remember at least, Mami definitely isn't the sort to shoot first. If we try to contact her via telepathy, she'll at least listen to us before assuming we're hostile.

If it were Kyouko that'd be a very valid fear, but Mami is far more likely to play nice with us.

The big difference is that these are people we barely know. If you met a stranger and they said they didn't want to talk about it, you'd probably not talk about it. If a close friend says they don't want to talk about it, that usually means it's something that needs to be talked about.

Yeah, that's my reasoning too. Going "help me I'm a lost magical girl" (which is, well, the truth), is very likely to get her to help us. Or at least, not be hostile to us.

hmm... we should probably have a track of... I guess trust stat? We are not Ryouko, but her advising AI. In theory she could veto our votes if we seem to be glitching/going too far in votes?
Like that plot for stealing school uniform. Ryouko is not Black heart operative trained in espionage or having documents appropriate to this age. Documents also reason to not say anything definite on enrolment.
I which case no jokingly hand waving current day as "National doppelgänger day",

Or jokingly explaining everything as Terminator films plot:
We are robot with artificial skin layer, her to kill human leaders and grandparents of those leaders. Now where is... maybe marshal Erwynmark to save Mami and others?
We are 90% cyborg human mage, here to protect important peoples from time travelling, invisible squid alien sniper.
On protocol reverse engineering... What if we later get access to internet in library or some how else?
Have Ryouko search on Internet on those protocol descriptions, which we read trough see trough her eyes? How long time is expected for current trial and error approach to work?

Random thought for later time... implants... clothes... Ryouko might not care about temperature can go naked in full winter or next to volcano not care as much, but current time peoples... might think her "weird"/crazy? Was there mention by Mami one way to recognise MG is her not sweating on hot days for example, taking clothes as they like, not as much for weather outside.

This is an important thing to remember. I'm not sure how active we should be (the GM will probably drop hints if we are too assertive), but we should be prepared to just lay back and let Ryouko makes her choices when our help isn't sorely needed.

Just remember who we are playing as.

I liked them. They're very appropriate, considering the multiple century difference.

I'm going to stick with not explaining anything to these girls, since they don't have any standing to demand one from us.

Mami tends to give the benefit of the doubt to people, even if she goes hard when she decides to be hostile. What's more suspicious: someone she detects running around not contacting her, or someone who directly asked to meet? Again, she'd still give us the benefit of the doubt but at least with the second option we would have been perceived as upfront about it instead of trying to be sly.

As for the excuse, that's. . . normal? Especially between strangers, which everyone here is. It's alright to be light on details to people you don't know, and explicit tell people 'no, I'd rather not say' if they hit something uncomfortable. If, say, Sayaka decides to keep prying then she comes across as a rude asshole.


I still prefer Julian's though Vyslanté's is a good one too. Hm.
