While re-reading the parts about papa's story, I ran into something quite worrying:

Kinomoto-san, was approached by an incubator and wished it all back together after the fact [...] She had a reddish-pink dress

"Fuck!" screams the boy. At the end of a long hallway, you see an orange glow of a magical barrier. He drops the screaming girl to the ground, butt first, just barely pausing to make sure her head was uninjured, and piles his body on top of hers. It's oddly quiet for a few seconds before the shockwave, then —

Simona was there, shes orange and a barrier generator.

Once we put Yukari back in the box, we should probably inform Ryouko of this problem.

[X] Give Yukari-san a tour to satisfy her
-[X] Look through the photos in the cabinet for her and her friends
-[X] Ask her all about her friends

E: re: Craisan's post: I'm dead curious.

EDIT: Ah right, Hitomi's mother is Tomoyo, so who the heck is Nadeshiko? Well, at least we know Clarisse isn't Hitomi's mother or grandmother...

E: re: Craisan's post: I'm dead curious.

Yes, and then we may soon be actually dead so.....

Well maybe I'm just painfully paranoid, but I'm definitely not wanting to risk it. Other possibilities not involving us dead include:

1) Yukari getting stuck and Hitomi not being able to come back
2) Yukari doing some seriously crazy upon additional stimulus
3) Mama and/or Papa coming in and seeing their daughter possessed by the spirit of a dead friend
-- a) Papa coming in alone and Yukari saying something seriously problematic and causing Drama
-- b) Mama coming in alone and something Magical happening that causes massive horrifying trauma

There is way too much potential for explosions and we really should at least talk it through with Hitomi and Papa and come up with a proper plan if we want to quiz Yukari on stuff.

Possibly also draw a pentagram with appropriate containment runes...

I propose that the best solution to this problem is to make it not our problem. IE: put the pin back in the box and expeditiously evacuate the office.

I'm not 100% sure what you mean by this — if removing the pin still leaves you with the wrong Hitomi, would you leave her to her own devices or try to take more explicit measures?

Isn't Simona a telepath, not a barrier-generator?

Relevant quote here:
"… Sunovabitch," says Kyouko. "It's tangerine girl, what'sername. Sumi. Sumo… It's foreign," she says. "She's like on some sort of endless cursed quest across all of time and space and eternity to save her one true love from death and despair, or some woo-woo bullshit like that. Barrier generator, but it's really weird. Kirika loves it."

In terms of vote, we should avoid additonal issues, so lets ask her to take off the pin, we know she wants to experience 2011, but we would like our sister back(who is probably in 19...whatever) and avoid anyone else freaking out.

On a side note, given I just relised that SImona was in papa's memories, we should tell Ryouko about that as well.

[X] Ask Yukari to put the hair pin in back in the box
-[X] Explain you want just don't want anyone to panic or do anything that can't be undone
--[X] Especially the possibility our Hitomi is now in the past and might do something
-[X] THEN recover the ribbon

[X] Hope this situation resolves quietly before he notices
-[X] and tell him afterwards REGARDLESS of outcome

[X] Privately inform Ryouko that Simona seems to have been present in papa's memories from the ribbon vision.

Edit: Fixed something

Only in chapter 53. CQ#1 and Kyouko concur. Barrier-generator but it's weird.

Hammer to head and hope for the best
That's how you got the "eat the ribbon" vote

I shall cross that bridge when I fall through its planks
we're trying to avoid another bridge scene

Tomoyo you sneaky.... So I was trying to remember how it all happened and hey, dat timeline tampering foreshadowing.
Naaaaah. My true masterpiece lies in slumber, awaiting a future doot.

Other possibilities not involving us dead include:
I like this, let me try!!!
4) Yukari Hitomi goes out, gets a haircut, locates a skateboard, and shows off her mad skillz to everyone, forever ruining Hitomi's reputation as a delicate ojou-sama
5) Shizuki Hitomi leaks future information to the eighties and it comes back to haunt you
6) Shizuki Hitomi has to kiss her own father and it's all Back to the Future
7) Yukari Hitomi makes a contract to bring back disco, and leaves Shizuki Hitomi to pay it off

Oh waitaminute if Yukari Hitomi looks very much like Asami....
the better to make Ryouko want to save her from certain doom as a magical girl

EDIT: Ah right, Hitomi's mother is Tomoyo, so who the heck is Nadeshiko?
I can't tell, you, but I can give you this link and this other link.

If this were straight Cardcaptor Sakura it would be Tomoyo's cousin and Kinomoto's mom, but she'd also be dead, so it's probably someone else

*sigh* I don't know if it's a blessing or a curse that we keep getting jerked from situation with horrible implications to situation with horrible implications so regularly. We could use it as a system of time measurement meaning 'not that long'.

we could call the unit an 'episode'

So, is Hitomi a reincarnation of Yukari? Because that would be the clearest explanation for why this happened.

Also, the golden eyed entity seemed to think that bringing us Yukari right now was a "short cut" of some sort. We shouldn't ignore that.

We learnt where that hair pin that we were wearing was, we will properly end up with it on us by the end of the day, but we should see papa about it first. That is itself a shortcut in my opinion

Happy 6 month birthday!
Tidies and fugelmen! We have reached 6 months, 120k words in 55 updoots, we have by and large protected Ryouko's resting neutral expression, and sent Hitomi on a time travel adventure to the 1980s. We have thwarted Oriko's attempts thus far to divide and conquer, and we've made wonderful new friends, none of whom have fallen victim to despair. We even have some vague inkling of an idea of how to save the future, at least if we can find Asami.

This occasion calls for cake.

We even know that there's a reason that everyone — with Ryouko and she barely even notices, it's because her other — — like she did on the roof.

Hey guys, new reader reporting in, and wow, what a ride

Okay, here's my take on it: we have a complicated plot with lots of moving parts. We've got time travelling Simona and Clarisse, we got a normal Simona, we got Walpurgis, we got TacComp-related drama...

Basically, we need to minimize the amount of mess and moving parts, otherwise nothing will ever get done, at least not in a good way. Also, we love Hitomi and want her back. Therefore:

[X] Point out to Ryouko that Simona might have been present in the ribbon vision memories
-[X] Briefly question Yukari on Simona, saying it's very important, then:

[X] Then try bringing back Hitomi by removing the hairpin
-[X] By force, if necessary
-[X] If that fails, apply ribbon to Hitomi's forehead, see if that helps
-[X] DO NOT tell her anything
-[X] If we succeed, noone needs to know. "Magic mishap", whatever

If we fail, the timeline is probably borked somehow, but if it isn't

[X] Assuming failure, ask everyone else on ideas to bring her back, and try those
-[X] If still no dice, I guess she stays then
-[X] Give her a tour, look at photos
-[X] Introduce to Papa, tell him everything
-[X] Guess it's her life now
-[X] Make her pretend to be Shizuki for strangers, but not the Gang. Allow deviations from behaviour and such, otherwise she could get unstable
-[X] Enlist her in the Gang, suggesting that maybe they can get everything fixed if she helps

[X] Assuming success, put the hairpin back for now, but suggest using it to try and switch to the Gang in the future. As an option. If they have a strategy of some kind.\

EDIT:
I've given some thought to our long-term strategy. Best I can tell, there is one issue that makes every other issue pale in comparison: there is no Law of Cycles, so Ryuoko, Kyuoko and every other magical girl are doomed forever. They will die or witch out eventually, and then it's all over for them. No matter what they do, without a Law of Cycles in effect, everyone is screwed. We're not sure what kind of effect this has on noncontractee humans or AIs such as ourselves. Apparently Madokami could bring up souls of deceased noncontractees to talk (am I remembering that right from TtS? Do we even know that?), but who knows what's their fate otherwise.

Any strategy we might employ to restore MSY and ensure Governance happens is still doomed to failure, as the best-case scenario is that eventually we manage to spread the wraiths out enough that no girls will have to witch out anymore... but when Cephalopods arrive, they still will when running out of energy, in the middle of allied forces, messing up everything. So, this is a short-term solution.

Therefore, we absolutely must do one of the following:

1. Figure out how we time travelled like this, and de-bork the timeline somehow. However, we don't know how. This likely involves finding Asami.
2. Somehow engineer the events so that Madoka makes a wish to save everyone... except she has no potential, apparently.
3. Find another girl who could wish to save everyone, either in the same manner as Madokami or in some other way that makes everyone not doomed forever. No clue how that might happen though.

Unfortunately, for all three we do not have nearly enough information to proceed with any of the above. We do know it ought to be possible to boost a girl's potential by repeatedly time-travelling back, but the only one who could do that is Homura, and it might have unpredictable effects on the timeline, and on the girl, and overall this is all extremely risky.

We do know of four individuals who may have knowledge as to what is going on and how to resolve the situation:

1. Madokami
2. Homura
3. Simona the one with Oriko
4. Simona from the future

Another note: Simona from the future is telling us to find Asami, but we have no clue where she might be, and whether it will fix everyone being doomed forever. We'll follow up on that as soon as we have any clue how we might actually look for Asami or make her come to us.

Therefore, I propose:

[X] As soon as Hitomi's situation is resolved one way or the other, bring up Madoka, sit down, apply ribbon to forehead. We really need info.
-[X] Only have Ryuoko present for the thing.
-[X] If she starts being all sad again, hug her and tell her she's not useless or a coward, and we appreciate her efforts
-[X] Ask how me might accomplish any of the three objectives
-[X] If hugs don't work and she's still too sad to answer, attempt an angrier approach. I'm sure she'll forgive us
-[X] If ribbon doesn't give us the desired results, attempt applying hairpin to Madoka's forehead instead

Our next steps would be to:

Apprehend or interrogate Simona with Oriko. Apply ribbon and/or hairpin if necessary.
If can be done conveniently, bring up non-magical Simona or travel to her. Repeat the process.
We should probably know a lot of things by now, but if not, attempt ribbon/hairpin applications with Homura.

(Did I do the votes right? I've seen a lot of write-ins before, but might have messed up anyway)

The other possibility involves making Madoka god again with the ribbon, though for that it seems we would need the second ribbon, which is in future!Homura's possession still to our knowledge.

Overall I agree with trying to restore the law of cycles, but we should consider if its possible to influence a wish to make Madoka less unhappy, or some other way so she isn't alone barring the weight of magical girls.

I'm not sure we could use the ribbon to that effect, but we'll probably get a hint during my suggested Madoka talk. And yes, I agree that we should try to improve Madoka's situation if possible.

As an experienced quester (in this quest, especially), did I do my votes about right? Should I have tried to more closely follow the original options? Did I break any rules?

On a separate note, any other good PMMM or especially TtS quests you can recommend? What's the hot stuff happening right now? I've only registered on these forums a couple days ago.

I think the only alternative to Madoka with anywhere near enough potential is us, by association with Ryouko. (Ryouko's already contracted, which rules her out.)

Off the top of my head, here's some that I watch/will look at later.
PMAS, @Crystalwatcher's (Original) MG Quest, Madoka Dating Simulator, PMAV (dead fic, but interesting while it lasted), PMPS (Also dead, but interesting and salty while it lasted), Ignition (Multicross that includes PMMM), Disjunction (PMMM/Ignition crossover), Revision (AU)
