And? You act like if we don't have a heroic hero we can't beat Urth. We have one that nearly on par, and even then. hero make things difficult or easier, not impossible. remember Brys wasn't heroic either.
Not initially, he was losing to us too much at the start, so he had to change his plan. He couldn't build that wall instantly, he needed to give ground in order for it to work. He could have set that trap a quarter into the forest, not half. He still lost a lot from it, and it didn't come without a price he had to pay.

And Brys got beat, and lost a thousand of the people, and had to turn himself to stone permanently to keep from being used.
I just don't think we'll be able to do enough with a secondary war party to be able to win. Seems to me we'd be better getting a MAIN settlement next turn, and then study metal secondary and MAIN war party next turn. Assuming we attacked at all.

If we give him respite he can use it to quickly grow and focus on other things to prepare for us.
Us preparing for him is as much as him preparing for us. Our advantage lies in that we will have more actions soon. If we attack him every turn he will have to devote time and resources accounting for that. Meanwhile we can also build settlements. Once we have double, we can afford to main attack and keep our numbers up. We can continuously attrition him for now and then stomp him out when he's weaker later. If we cease attacking him we give him time to relax and consolidate, we need to keep the pressure on him. no mercy, no respite.
he wasn't a hero? And again going back to the previous argument. Urth being heroic while our hero is excellent doesn't mean we lose every encounter, again it came down to rolls.
EDIT: to clarify that question posed at the start isn't really a question but a "he was also hero"
clarifying because its hard to get that stuff with text only.

Brys was a martial hero who was excellent
Our new cadlon is a martial hero who is excellent
Urth is a heroic martial and mystic.
They are all heroes, the difference is the level, which isn't a huge gap.
And brys was a hero, he was a martial hero.
Not really? the longer we take the more he can reap the lowlands to replenish numbers and refortify the half of the forest he lost. We can keep him more focused on us and preventing him from consolidating while still getting the actions, but it just takes a turn longer.

that's not how that works at all. Heroes are those people with Heroic aptitude in a stat. Excellent is a step below heroic. We just have people with stats now, because they are the Cadlons, or potential cadions.
Also, Brys wasn't a martial hero, he was excellent. Gwyn his friend that he didn't love was the martial hero.
[X] [SEC] Settle Land = (Greenbay (4/12))
[X] [SEC] War Party = (Cursed Forest)
Guys. Arthryn JUST blessed his base so he was forced to move base. We give him another turn and he'd have fortified the new base AND filled it with fresh zombies. Hit him before he hardens the new one.
[X] [MAIN] Settle Land = (Greenbay (4/12))
[X] [MAIN] Settle Land = Greenbay
Will give us 2 provinces with 6 settlements giving us a 3th action for ourselves and a province action.
