It should be noted that born equal guarentees that you have equal opportunity not equal accessibility. What this means that it only cares about who is best for the job and right now people believes that the royal family is the best at leading the people and so long as we have max legitimacy people will continue believing that.

Additionally just because we have a hereditary based monarchy it does not mean that people will down the line start banning people from doing certain jobs because they are believed to be less suited for it the opportunity must exist they just don't have to make it easy for you to take it.

They will though? This is the start of a nobility class, the "divine" royal family starts spreading out into branch families and these will also be "superior" due to their blood and will take over jobs.

Well i would expect that to happen if we let them, for example members of the royal family administrating others settlements but on other hand we can't really stop them because people will want to be led by most capable leaders and if they chose them than we can't really object .
We can stop it from becoming successive on settlement level though, giving non royal Arthwyd a fare chance.

Same being with other jobs.

Don't worry, give it a few generations and the royal brats will be worthless incompetents coasting on their heritage and surrounded by syncophants.

No one will disagree with Arthryn then.

As i said equal opportunity only cares that the opportunity exist. If we end up getting some sort of nobility class than equal opportunity dictates that there has to be a chance that a random peasant can become nobility too. it does not care about any inherent advantages or disadvantages people may have.

Oh, but they will, by then the system will be supported by social inertia.

Even when corruption skyrockets and they start starving? No, once things get bad enough everyone will remember what Born Equal was supposed to mean, and finally understand why Arthryn was pissed.

Or at least they will if Wyrn doesn't retcon history too bad.

I doubt that Wryn will be able to do much as i believe that Arthryn will keep eye on her from now on.

Regarding the Blessing of Arthryn and those without it, everyone is given a chance to prove themselves due to Born Equal. That said, there is a general expectation that those with the Blessing will do better than those without. That isn't to say that people without it don't succeed or do well, but you are treated as having a disadvantaged being less likely to succeed.

For example, Evalyn began a warrior without the blessing, but was treating as lacking an advantage that everyone else has. Basically everyone is given the same requirements to meet regardless of whether they have the blessing or not and you get in if you met the requirements. The blessing is just considered to be an advantage to meeting the requirements, but not an requirement on its own.

Not to say that there isn't some discrimination about the blessing. A minority of people think the the blessing makes you inherently better suited for a job over someone without and there is a strong social pressure to spread the blessing about. If you don't have the blessing, you are strongly encourage to reproduce with someone who does and discourages from reproducing with someone also without it so that your kids will get the blessing.

Magical blessings are sorta like not having a genetic birth defect. Just because someone has a birth defect does not mean they are a bad person... but man it would be really nice if they didn't have it, don't you just feel bad for them. And choosing to pass that on to their CHILDREN!?

Thats a steryotype. Kids of monarchs are raised to be monarchs, if they are bad or trash they tend to be overthrown or are disinherited. The hapsburgs and the karlings didnt get to where they were by being braty and spoiled. Is there a chance rhey can be corrupt as time progresses? Yes. This applies to all governments. Not just monarchies.

There is a theory that, in times before society could afford to educate people with general education and finding out what people are actually good at before deciding their careers, it actually made sense to just designate someone the next king at birth and devoting tons of resources to ensuring that single person had the training and education needed regardless of their natural talent.

Maybe monarchy isn't so bad after all , i mean in universe in wich gods exist and theocracy makes sense having a group of people in charge that is not only believed to be inheritly better but actually is so does make a sense.

Expect for a occasional hero that can be married in royal family we are ensuring that our civ is lead by more competent people.

That is my read of things, a monarchy should have benefits regarding stability on average and social some stratification should allow for a more efficient concentration of resources to support specialist jobs. Unfortunately either because we haven't really had outside perspectives looking in or authorial fiat our current society hasn't really shown to have any flaws in a sense. I can't recall a single instance where Born Equal's con of decreased social stratification has ever had any sort of effect. We got some hints at the less palatable parts of our culture the turn right after the epic age but it really hasn't been shown in any meaningful way in my opinion.

With our god being real and somewhat communicative I wonder if we can have a real divinely selected king. Basically a papal sea literally prays for guidance in selecting the next king on the death of the current king. That person is then found and boom, career change.

Monarchy - but none of the bloodlines problems.

Hopefully we can afford to work on the temple and finish the trails next turn, getting divine guidance to the people seems quite important right now.

My point is that it only has to happen once for things to go to shit.

And if we get rebellions when it inevitably does, good, we can shift course to a less exclusive selection process. Even an elective monarchy would be better then primogeniture.
