The Lowlanders are also eager to tell Arwyn about the mountain he has been seeking or more accurately, eager to warn him about it. According to the Lowlanders, it is the home of winged monsters that none of the Lowlander warriors dare even consider fighting, considering an automatic death sentence to fight one of the Winged Beasts.

DRAGONS!!!!

Want so bad... either for killing, or taming. I don't care which, but I want.

We are so tiny. We need to colour more places green!

Edit:
Btw i propose that when we go for New settlement we go for that other river towards Forest folk, it will give us river access towards them and better possibility for trade.
And for that reason i will go for fishing now.

I disagree, I think we should establish another city on the other river, specifically on the regular tile just before the lowland tile the river goes into. With so many different factions, its good if we establish a buffer city between the capital and the other factions, plus we get the both of best worlds. Plus we can trade with the blue tribesmen and perhaps the yellow freaks if they aren't the bad king of freaky.

That or expand to the hills north of the tree folk that's on the coast . we might be able to get some sweet walls and minerals or something. If we get too close to them they might wanna attack us so best we ensure we have some room between our lands to give some needed space.

EDIT: TAME THE DRAGONS. WE CAN RENDER WALLS USELESS WITH EARLY FLYERS, THE WARFARE ADVANTAGE WILL BE OURS.
EDIT pt2: electric Boogooloo
also it would be in our interests to own the trees the treefolk have because we can't be boat kings without first being wood kings.
that or trading but we don't trade we assimilate.

But imagine if we take control of the whole coastline from mountain to mountain and build the great wall around us we could be in a very good position then.

Great wall requires a huge amount of resources and tech
even then it isn't good unless we have the A population to support it (being built)
B. The forces to man it (while its active)
C. an incentive for us actually making it. especially since we have a trait that says "the people outside the wall are equal to us, its the actions that determine the people, not if they are born inside or outside the wall"

I'd rather have us own the coast and use it to make bank and fund our inland expansion. We won't need a wall if we become the colonizers.
so long as we do that and someone attacks us we can justify conflict as self defense. (think how the romans had every war as a defensive war) aka valid casus belli.

EDIT: I didn't even see the new post lol

WE NEED NEW CITIES BEFORE WE GET OUTCLASSES BY EVERYONE

Lol, why does it look like you loaded up the map into Paint and just used the brush tool to sprinkle colors?

Probably because that is what happened through you missed the part where I erased the parts of the map that the People don't know about.

I would also like to point out to the thread that the locations on the map for the other civs are less "they control all of this land" and more "we believe they are somewhere within this area from what the Lowlander Tribes told us".

Question but wouldnt we know where the lowlanders are since the explorers were in atleast one of the towns?

If you had accurate maps, you would, but so far, the extent of your contact with them is a single expedition of explorers that went towards the giant mountain in the distance by following the river in-land. You only know where to find them by following the river further in-land.

It isn't the modern day or a game where you can just accurately map out where ever you have been.

true, I was thinking they were going the native american, mobile towns with teepee thing

They have settled villages.

How are they the low landers when we live on the coast.

Well, they are at a lower elevation than that huge mountain after all and its only going to get higher from that point on. I mean, in relation to it, everything from where we are to where we think the Lowlanders are could be considered lowlands

I want to exploit that sea further before turning attention inland. Gotta make sure to have some decent coastal and riverine transports to make logistics easier.

Mostly. The giant mountain with surrounding floodplains was one of the first things that I came up with when designing the map and I decided to call the floodplains around the mountain the Lowlands as a working name for them until I came up with something better. However, I decided to stick with them as it fitted with them being floodplains and lower than the giant mountain in the middle.

Oh shit I just realized the most important reason we should go inland
we need to find horses and domesticate them asap.and cattle but we don't really need that
literally travel becomes that much faster with horses

hmm @Oshha is it possible to direct the explore lands action?

Like, would we be able to pick Explore Lands - Mountains or something?
I'm really interested in those winged beasts :p

I'll think about it, but I will warn you up front that the Great Mountain is too far away right now for the People to reach.

Question about that mountain reaching, since the river comes from generally the same direction as the mountain would having boats allow us to reach the mountain easier?

Cool, thanks for the quick response.
Also Merry Christmas/Happy Holidays for you all!

[X] [SEC] Explore Lands.
[X] [SEC] Trade Mission = Lowlander Tribes

I want to get more information about our surroundings and the factions around us, both from the bias of the Lowlander tribes and from meeting them ourselves (hopefully). We also likely have unique goods to trade based on our closeness to the sea, so we should begin to cultivate a reputation for having said items.
