I'm a little confused with the sequence of events here. Is this meant to imply Taylor drank the tea and knocked herself out immediately before the Valks found her? Or is it more like, since Taylor has been regularly "drinking tea", it means that her brain is constantly being destroyed and renewed? Coz I thought eating black flowers destroyed her memories in a more immediate sense rather than an ongoing process.
Could be symbie set up a metaphor for shard to huma equivalant like taylor was doing.

Basically Symbie wants Taylor to get help and to be prevented from erasing her own memories. Not only because is bad for Taylor but because is bad for humanity.

After all, with Taylor power while she is Dreaming, is quite possible for her to accidentally cause herself permanent damage. And if "Hell's playdough" is what she does just when wanting to have fun...

Taylor is the Hell's Hand Arcology mayor. She isn't a personal Valk, but she does have control of a mobile stealth fortress.

So yeah, Hell's Hand picking itself up and getting gone from Africa seems likely in the near term. Now wether Taylor is patient enough to try flight, or says fuck it and immediately moves to 'playing with portals' for her arcologies exit strategy is entirely up to wether or not Symbie sees anything wrong with a teleporting stealth arcology.

...

I anticipate screams and scares next chapter, despite it being already past halloween. Happy day!

The update doesn't mention the tea kettle to be stealth-plated though. The Valkyries will be onto it from the first cup.

The update didn't say the tea kettle doesn't have stealth plating. For all we know, it's blackboxed as much as Anna's weapons.

And even if it isn't, the kettle could in fact be a perfectly functional tea maker that runs on almost comprehensible shard magic, like a lesser version of QA's Friends. At this point, the UN would just roll with it.

At this rate, they probably wouldn't care if the kettle started purring while it boiled water. The UN is channeling a Tomb of Horrors campaign and the moment the traumatized girl and the danger's gone, everything around them's getting looted. As is the proper adventurer way.

Taylor wishes it destroyed them. The immediate effect is rendering them almost inaccessible annnnd ninja'd by a while.

Allow me to fix that: it doesn't have stealth plating.

Friendly reminder that Valks do have access to hammerspace, though. :V

Honestly, I think QA has revealed enough at this point that should she realize that mother isn't watching she might just enter sweep it under the carpet and hide mode.

From Symbie's perspective, she seemed to not care as much about humanity as having a more responsive Taylor. Like they seemed to already be collaborating on her body a bit at the end, so she's already getting returns on more lucid interactions and opportunities to design new things. She'll get a second platform to test weapons from in Taylor as well, if she gets the Valkyrie loadout. I am a bit curious what sort of education she'd get as a mayor.

Also, I am starting to get the feeling QA will never cotton on to Symbie being the mastermind behind the new backstory.

...wat. Two posts this week? WOOHOO! Thanks, Alivaril - this is awesome. :D
You're welcome, but probably no more this week — I have 2 research term papers due on Friday, another project on Sunday, and my finals from Friday to next Tuesday.

On the bright side, I already have what may become chapter 19* about 80% done, so you might get multiple updates next week after the semester is over.

* Featuring everyones' favorite probably-not-a-hive-mind!

This chapter was much better than the last, and I enjoyed reading every part of it. I look forward to the fireworks let off by every revelation here lmao.

So Scion is going to appear, I am wondering what the crafting club will think of him.
"Who dumped this whale in Australia?!"

It'll be the big ones from Japan, like the Yonshakudama. When your firework weighs nearly 500kg and has to be loaded on a tube that wouldn't look out of place in a Mario game, then it's definitely going to be spectacular.

Queen Administrator wrinkled her nose. She understood what Shapira had meant, but she didn't like the wording. All of her creations would be viable in some way even if they couldn't accomplish their intended purpose. They weren't errors.
If fuzzy slippers is a worthy purpose, than that applies even to the ones who were stepped upon by Escalation's host as soon as her own triggered...

Imagine my surprise when I get an alert and find not one, not two, but four chapters waiting for me! Such a happy surprise!
Something's wonky with the alerts on my side, though.
Gotta say, this story is going places. Sooo many wonderful eldritch places. Also, Symbie is best Daughteru.

How can she be best daughter if she doesn't let Taylor shape weapons out of her blood, she is obviously a jealous and insecure creature afraid of Taylor not using her because the blood can already be used as a weapon.

Considering Symbie made this hot bod for her mommy, which is frankly weird, usually it's the other way around, I think she has a good idea of what things are acceptable and unacceptable to do with it.

And it just happens to include not using it as weaponry when Symbie is perfectly serviceable.

Don't take what I am saying seriously, I am more of the opinion that Symbie did it for balance reasons, so Taylor wouldn't end up overpowered and eventually ruin the setting, using the blood for weapons wouldn't be enough on it's own, but I think Symbie wanted to cut this line of thought off before Taylor ends up a terror drone.

Hey, I know we are all shitposting. It's alright.

But yeah, maybe she did it not to become obsolete, I could see that.
