Arc 3: No, I'm not Sailor Moon.
They say the moon is a curse.

Artificial and malicious, a construct formed with the dying fear and rage and vengeance of a long lost Sorceress, oh so long ago. A child with uncontrolled power hated and feared by family and friends, a little girl lost to unfair actions.

A feat of magic in the sky. One that consumed the tears of the hurt and maltreated children of the planet below, and that formed monsters of karma on its distant surface.

They say the moon was the kingdom of titans.

Beasts and creatures that radiated magic, that were fueled not by hunger or greed, but raw anger. So angry they couldn't focus enough to kill each other, so angry that they gathered to burn even brighter together.

They say the moon could cry.

That the tears of vengeance would smite the planet again, as the monsters of karma grew too angry, too gathered to stay tethered by gravity or reality or logic… And they would smite the land far away, on that morally corrupt planet.

That with a Lunar Cry, continents would be smashed with a flesh beam of concentrated anger and beast and bone. Those survivors would be hunted by the long forgotten hopes and dreams of the children and innocents struck down on this mortal world, now given teeth and claws and horns.

They say that the moon grew thick with rage, and blood and bones.

That after some time passed, a future Sorceress attempted to enhance this crisis. She wished to twist the crying moon into a death snarl, and bring an end to all and a death to everyone including herself.

Sacrificing her lonely future and her tortured past to strengthen the curse of the moon, to sharpen the edge of a feeble strike unknowingly given after a lost child cried alone, again, oh so long ago.

To give the unending swarm of hungry death stronger power, thicker skin, twisted muscle, and heavily dense and unbending bones.

They say that this is where things went wrong.

Born from pain and hurt and death, the Bone Sorceress looked upon the crying moon.

And she ḥ̭͚̥u̜n̲̼g͇̹̪̦e͖̳͎̜r͕̠e̖̥̩͍̹̟d͉̟͍̰̩.

Silver hair and eyes, with silver magic glowing over her perfect skin, she flew with wings of bone to the heavens to [[H̪̜̱̮̻͉a͉̦̭͈̼̻r̫̮v͇e͓̦̜͓s̫̪̳͙̩t̲̰͔]] such an unending bounty.

Each wing forged of unconnected bones, each fragment a ghost carved from Space itself, both here and there and nowhere. Her ghost wings of space clawed to the heavens, to consume the bounty on the moon.

A body that was more a silver network of boundaries that drew the edges of a contained universe, her flesh acted more as a portal to her true self than it did a weakness. She wore bones of S͎̦͓̰̣͖̣p̠͎a̰̬̖͍c̺͎e͈ as armor and held a spike of rage in her fist.

They say the Moon no longer cries. That a Lunar Kingdom was built from the bones of karma, coated in the metal forged from S͠͠p̡̀͜͝à̸̢͟ç͟͢͞ę̛́͢, and that on a throne built from her feasting waited the Bone Sorceress for some future meal.

They say to keep the children safe, to protect the innocent.

They say to feed the weak and protect the hungry.

For the tears they shed may rouse her h̹͈͎̦̦̺͍u͓n͍̥̻̘̫̰ge̞r͉̣ once more.

Some say these legends are false, that they are tales to keep children quiet after long and hard days of labor.

But I was here when the Galbadian Army invaded our beloved Timber years ago. When they took our town and our people fought and failed and died. When our innocents and our children cried.

I remember when the moon bled, the colors began to vanish, and the Silver Kingdom began to grow.

I remember Galbadian going quiet. Of the Second Sorceress War suddenly slowing, of Sorceress Adel nearly abandoning our town and the war front, and her frantic reinforcement of her own capital of Esthar.

Look child, to the moon hung with the stars.

See the Silver City, as the Lunar Kingdom grows ever more and the once blood red armies of endless rage now fall to unseen h̭̱͍͕u̲̱͈͈͖̺n̤̗̥͇̹̪g̬̣̤̲ͅe̱͈r͚̭̥̞. As the orb grows more silver patterns of danger.

They say that the forests of Timber sure have changed. That our history is gone, that our land is lost, that our children should cry and tears should fall.

But the Owls are still around. And we silently feed the weak and protect the hungry. Even if pointless, even if others should have said these things long before. The soldiers that still defy fate stand in our forest, in our woods, in false bravado and in displays of power over us...

But they are standing silent as well. As they should.

For it may be too late. She may h̺u̼̭̖̤͔̪ṇ͉͔̳͉g̻̩͖̲e̬̣̫̩̪̯̫r̝̰͇̙͚ once more.

~~~Broken Adventure~~~
Sarah snapped awake when her existence finished enhancement by S̺̰̟̏̿̏p̈̐ͮa͇cͫ̐ͯe̱̤ͪ͑̉͛.
It was instant, it was a shock, and yet her mind was lost to the changes.
A glance at her interface showed that Adam had already hidden her inventory screen. Why bother? She now knew the position and status of every item stored away in the Warehouse and her 'hammer space' perfectly, as well as the best settings such as air pressure, temperature, humidity levels, gravimetric force enhancement states, and so forth.
More than that, she no longer teleported. Or 'Stepped'. Or needed to make portals.
She could, easily, for basically no cost. At almost any range within one dimension, and with only trivial effort between two she knew of in the same Jump.
But now?
Now she knew why Space and Time were so closely linked.
She couldn't freeze Time. Or reverse it. Or accelerate it.
But she COULD do something similar or close to it with Space. In a way.
A moment and she was in the Warehouse. And beside the bed. And in the throne room. And the table she and Shiva sat at last night, even as the woman was eating a fairly wonderful looking breakfast. And outside. And in the air.
She was able to be in one place and many at the same time. To choose at any moment which was her, which was only an illusion, and which was nothing but her abilities sensing the location. To be visible or not, interacting with reality or observing it. To stretch reality or compress it.
It was almost too much.
A thought had a dozen of herself standing outside, all aiming the same gun even as she was physically in many places, all pointing at the distance roars of many beasts.
Sure, as the only person there, they all had to act the same way. They weren't independent, for they weren't they. They were only a single here, but in more than one spot at this same time.
But it was trivial now to have a single bullet hit the same target from a thousand angles.
Nearly impossible to block, because even as the damage occurs the object causing it was also on the other side of your shield and body too. If you deflected it, you had to also deflect the angle it didn't come from and the direction it COULDN'T come from as well.
Assuming of course, that she used a normal bullet. And not the more interesting snipers that shot swords or missiles or napalm or acid or whatnot.
But even such an idea was not enough to keep her attention, because reality was now more. Altered. Influenced by her connection to the idea of S̗̩̱̝̠̯p͈̭̟̳̱ͅac͔̻͖̳͙e̝, expanded.
If she wanted, if she focused… She could taste Şpa̧ce̛. See it. Smell it. Hear it. Touch it.
Any and every sense, all her detectors, any of her tools… If she could collect data from somewhere? Then she knew that S̀͟ṕ͢a̶c̷͜͏e as well.
Could manipulate it, move it, alter it.
Even if that data was from a film, or a video feed, or an audio clip… She could somehow K̝͉͓̙N͇̺͔O͚̥̻W̥ the S̘p̟̼͍̗a̦̜̦ͅc͙͎e̥̺̪ involved, no matter how much Time passed.
It was kind of freaking her out.
Uh. Right. "Hey, Adam? What's the plan for… All this?"
Without a thought she was somehow at the breakfast table with a shocked Shiva, who smacked her arm for coming out of nowhere and pouting at her smirk.
Adam grumbled. <<Nope. I am NOT fucking with time travel bullshit.>>
Sarah blinked before thanking Shiva for the omelette she handed over on a lovely bone plate. The orange juice was nice too, just chilled without ice in it. <Something wrong?>
He sent data. <<YOU do anything you want, I am going to be super passive here. I don't react well with reality at the best of times, and your 'fixed' temporal defense units are being enhanced and going through 'Research'... Until I get more data, I am not making ANY choices or suggestions for you on this Jump. I could make things go REALLY bad.>>
Huh. "So uh, that's a thing. Apparently." Right! "Shiva, this is an amazing omelette by the way. Thanks for making breakfast."
The ice woman smirked. "Well, since you didn't die I guess I can try one too."
...Uh. Sarah slowed. "I'm sorry?"
Shiva took a bite. "Mmm, it IS good! And yeah, no. I didn't make this. Any of it."
Sarah was staring at her fork of cheddar cheese omelette with onions, green peppers, and what seemed to be ham.
Still warm, delicious, and served up on the breakfast table.
In a castle with no obvious kitchen.
Or staff.
Or, for that matter, cows to milk, milk to turn into cheese, or vegetables or pigs to turn into ingredients. And, while she was thinking about it, no orange trees or oranges to make this lovely drink.
...It was a damn good omelette though. "Adam, did you make this food?"
Please say yes. Please, pretty please, it would make her feel MUCH better if you said yes.
<<Automated Reply: I'm sorry; the Warehouse you are attempting to contact is not going to fuck with time travel. Feel free to use your stuff though, because I'm going to be doing nothing fun but checking all your security and making potential upgrades to your stuff that you might like after this Jump is over. This is a recording.>>
Oh, fuck off! "Adam, tell me where this food came from or I am going to be very cross."
<<Automated Reply: I'm sorry; the Warehouse you are attempting to contact is not going to fuck with time travel. This is a recording.>>
She glared at the table. "Adam."
<<Automated Reply: If you knew how fucking terrifying time travel is you would be JOINING me in freaking out. This is a recording.>>
Sarah blinked. And shrugged. "If I was in danger of doing something wrong then I would have told myself to watch myself and make sure myself eventually wouldn't have done the situation in the future that would have been my past self's potential decision for future past activities."
Or something? Being connected to Space like this made everything feel a bit easier and safer than she initially expected. Sarah might not control or understand Time, but the concept was like a distant cousin now.
<<Automated Reply: ...You're messing with me, aren't you? This is a recording.>>
She grinned. "We would have been done by now if you weren't such a big baby about it."
And took another bite of the mystery meal. Because Shiva was clearly enjoying it and she had eaten some already anyway and it smelled AMAZING.
<<Automated Reply: {Sigh.} Fine. But only this once. Scan the table. Hell, scan everything. And check the optional missions to go find magic aura patterns for me to work with so we can get a local version of [[Scan]], and I will make it all better later. But from now on, I'm out, alright? Alright. This is a recording.>>
Huh. "Alright, though I still think you are being silly about all this." She compressed all the food into a single fork full and finished the meal, letting the concept of Space help her digest the compressed food automatically later while having super dense flavor smack her system.
Mmm! Hell yeah, going to do that again. "So just scan the table?"
<<Automated Reply: I'm sorry; the Warehouse you are attempting to contact is not going to fuck with time travel. This is a recording.>>
Scaredy cat. "Fine."
And she e͓̝͓̘̜x͚͚̫͉am͙͕̖̼̦i͙͕͍n̜e̼d͓̤̗̘ ͈̞th͖̖͚̯̩̯͚e͕̳͇̺̟̪̳ S̕͘p̵̕͠͞ac̷̀͢e̡͏ b̻̣e͔͍fo̜̼̩͚̙̝r͍̣e͚̲̫͕ ͚̠͍̞h͍̬̦̭̣e̳̞̣r̫.
And stared.
Holy shit. "Shiva? Sweetie?"
The ice goddess blinked. "Murphfle?"
A shift had the woman suddenly floating next to her, on some shifted floor twisted through Space forming the flat surface into a new chair. A chair NOT part of this castle, thank you very much! "Swallow before you talk. And uh. Can you return to my mind as my GF for now? Just… Just for a bit?"
Thankfully some of her concern must have bled through the connection because the woman vanished into her mind instantly. <What's up, Master?>
Sarah carefully stood up from the 'table'. And continued to examine it. And the room. And the castle. And the 'town'. And, this was the important bit, the miles of robotics and equipment BELOW all this. "So. Good Morning?"
A silver skull of coated bone rose up from the unfolding table. "Good morning, mistress. Was breakfast satisfactory today?"
Because Sarah had the background and knowledge of robotics, biology, chemistry, genetic mutilation and manipulation, and physics. And she had been stuck here on the moon for MORE than five years, since this castle and the surrounding structures were built BEFORE that time frame.
Outside of her memories. "It was very good. What is your name?"
The skull nodded. "We are the Lunar Kingdom. And we grow as we [[Devour]] the foes on the surface, and serve at your pleasure. Our communication hubs have no individual names."
Apparently, at some point in the past, Sarah had thought it would be hilarious to spend her time waiting up here testing out one specific Sorceress skill as a lovely 'surprise'.
So, from what she could see under this mess, she had combined the cutting edge of robotics with the horrific Rick and Morty styled clone mutation and adaptation skills, and used the endless hordes of incredibly powerful monsters up here as building supplies.
Then her other self decided to use [[Animating Objects]] to bring the whole self constructing and expanding factory of silver coated and carved bone robotic limbs and para-magic powered runes to life.
As a city.
Fuck. "Right. And where did the food come from?"
Because if this 'ham' was people or something, that would really ruin this lovely meal.
The skull tilted its head. "The plants come from automated farm harvests on the lower levels. We have a standing contract with several milk farms using the delivery portal system… And of course, use the same for the ranches since animals go… Odd… When raised on the moon."
Sarah blinked. "How do we pay for that?"
It pushed data to her systems. "Bartering, basically. Our vegetable quality is top notch, the cost is nearly free to produce thanks to our automation systems and equipment, the quantity is significant, and over the years the legend of the Lunar Kingdom is now quite well known. It is considered an honor to work with us, even if you are less than socially acceptable to the general public."
Oh. Well, the ham wasn't people, which was good! Although even eating monsters wouldn't actually be that bad. Something to look into later.
Also, while she was carefully ignoring the idea of her legend spreading on the planet below (And a few other things), she was CERTAINLY going to look up that delivery system later!
Still, those answers were good enough to keep eating this stuff. "Got anything for dessert?"
The silver boned skull on a long coated spine nodded. "Cinnamon Rolls twisted around chocolate cookie sticks, also called Chocolate Cinna-Sticks." A tray of tube-like pastries with a sugar frosted coating arrived on the table as the skull and its parts were folded away. "Enjoy!"
And Sarah was sitting at a normal table with some freshly baked pastries in front of her.
Huh.
Shiva was poking her! <Let me have em! Just one or two!>
Nope, you make me your food tester for mystery food stuffed with potential poison? Then Sarah gets to eat the odd cinnamon roll on a cookie-ka-bob thing first! Maybe even ALL of them!
She froze after the first bite.
...Holy crap, how was the cookie still crunchy when it was wrapped up in squishy goodness!?
Right, scan this shit so Adam can make it later. In fact, scan ALL THE THINGS!
~~~Broken Adventure~~~

After an amazing lunch and an equally lovely dinner and followup night and breakfast, it was time to get going for adventure!

Mostly because Sarah realized she COULD be super powerful, but CURRENTLY had some [[Water]] and the three ice magics. If she wanted to be able to sell this stuff, she needed to get the aura patterns for the other spells too at LEAST, especially [[Scan]] since it was supposed to work really well for her.

A moment later, Sarah was on the planet while Shiva was sleeping off her food festival in her mind.

This was a forest, somewhere near that odd train crossroads she could sense over there.

And her arrival didn't go unnoticed.

Monsters here, on the planet, could understand power. It was what drove them, what was valued. They had an innate understanding of how strong foes were, and tended to ignore those very weak unless there were no other targets while they avoided anyone or anything too powerful for blatantly obvious reasons.

It ensured creatures got more nutritious 'food' while fighters tended to mostly run into creatures of similar power levels as themselves, which helped THEM improve to become better food for the stronger beasts nearby.

It was a system that had fallen into a sort of balance long ago.

Then Sarah arrived.

And stood confused that there was NOTHING around for her examine, as a wave of beasts and demons frantically got the fuck out of there.

Thankfully the nearby city of Timber survived because the creatures were too horrified to bother fighting anyone or slowing down to invade the town they had just overrun. No, they allowed tiny soldiers and resistance fighters to kill their siblings and even themselves rather than dodge or fight back or deviate from the nearest and fastest exit AWAY FROM THAT THING.

The defenders were overwhelmed and then confused, standing awkwardly in the piles of foes and gore they had fought, soaked in blood and fluids, as rivers of enemies just kept fleeing mindlessly through the town and beyond to get away.

It wasn't considered a good sign.

~~~Broken Adventure~~~
Sarah was both stubborn AND lost. "Maybe I'm doing this wrong?"
Shiva hummed, not being helpful as she abused her access to copies of Sarah's mind to basically watch the more pornographic stuff. <I don't think random encounters are actually a thing. I'm pretty sure you are supposed to see the creatures about to attack you on this planet.>
She squinted at the still empty woods. "Are you sure? Because I've been walking around for a while now and I've seen nothing but tracks." Oh! "Maybe they are hunting something!?"
Shiva snorted. <If only you could find them. You know, by looking? With your super Space senses?>
No! "That's cheating! I don't need to cheat!" Maybe she could use her [[Mind Control]] to get a monster to… No, that was stupid. If she could see a monster to control then she would have FOUND A DAMNED MONSTER ALREADY!
Her ice friend hummed. <Well, what about flying up and then just visually checking the area?>
That wasn't giving up, right? She could fly BEFORE these boosts, so uh. That wouldn't count as giving in. Probably. "Alright, let's see here..."
A flex had her thin network of transparent silver bones forming behind her back, somehow connected to her Soul and the Space Within.
Without movement or alteration, her bones wings sort of… Stayed still while reality shifted around them?
And she was in the sky! "Woo!"
Felt WAY different from normal flight, less mentally stressful too. She was just sort of in this place and wind and stuff only affected her in ways she subconsciously liked. Otherwise it was in a different Sp̧ą͠c̷e͞ than her.
Right uh. Oh, there is that town from before! And over there is… More forests. And uh. A river or two.
Shit... Did monsters not exist here? Did she somehow kill off all monsters by making the beast consuming moon city before the first Lunar Cry could occur?
That… That would suck!
Sigh.
Falling to the ground and forcing her location to prevent all momentum to avoid causing a crater or a massive wave of debris, Sarah slumped. "I might have to give up and cheat with my sensors. There isn't bupkis nearby, and there SHOULD be! That town over there has a growing mountain of monster corpses they are still cleaning up!"
Damn it.
Shiva shrugged. <Why not try heading over and asking them what's up?>
Sarah sighed. "Fine. But if it turns out that random encounters ARE a thing, I'm calling it!"
A few minutes into the walk her GF had another comment. <Just remember to hide the wings and not to use Space related magic so it won't pop up unexpectedly. Try and blend in a bit.>
Oh right. "Thanks." Easy enough, Sarah mentally sent the ghost bone skeletal wings back to her Soul where they lived. Right, onwards to ask what the hell was going on! Woo!
Enjoying the unintended nature hike despite the odd ground tracks and tree trunk damage around the place, Sarah happily walked towards the nearest location of humanity like a perfectly normal girl with glowing silver hair, eyes, and tattoos.
She could do this!
~~~Broken Adventure~~~

Rinoa Heartilly sighed as she slumped at the table. "How bad is it, Watts?"

Stupid hair, getting in the way. She'd have to cut it back to shoulder length soon. Might keep the caramel highlights though instead of dying it black to match the rest of her hair, it gave her a great look and worked well with her eyes.

Watts was still in his Galbadian soldier disguise. "Not bad, Sir. Surprisingly not bad." He pushed some notes to her, and… Yeah, his handwriting was terrible like normal.

He tried though. "No deaths, minor wounds. And once we realized everything was fleeing something instead of just attacking, some smart ass in leadership opened all the gates and most of the monsters just ran right through. Could have turned out horrific, but we got lucky."

Yeah, this shit had been weird. "Any identities compromised?" When THAT many monsters showed up, it was all hands on deck.

And he winced. "Turns out, a few? But apparently they were 'known' insurgents from before and were just thanked for helping out in this particular crisis. I'm still organizing with other resistance cells to get them swapped out before someone in management screws something up."

She slumped into her arms, groaning. The occupation of her town was so WEIRD. There might be more insurgent groups and underground rebellions here than there were soldiers and undecided or bystanders! But whatever had spooked the hell out of the invading forces after their initial conquest had made everything go wonky.

Now the people here were sort of trying to prove something to someone. No one knew who, or what was at stake, but… Well, the Soldiers wouldn't leave but they also were shockingly polite. And understanding. And very, VERY hesitant to do anything to anyone.

Hell, sometimes she felt GUILTY trying to resist the occupation because the other side just sort of apologized when they WON. "Why won't they just LEAVE!? Goooo! Go away!"

Her best buddy hero partner Angelo whined and put her cute widdle head on her lap. Who's a good girl resisting the oppression of her loved ones? You are! You are!

Watts sighed, interrupting the petting session. "I'm still looking into it, but I'm pretty sure the pressure comes from the Sorceress Adel herself. Something about not showing weakness? I don't get it either, Sir. And you know how no one in her kingdom likes to actually talk about her in the first place."

Yeah, THAT ass. Rinoa had heard never ending tales of that demonic muscle covered horned woman and her rampage conquering the land before whatever the hell happened when they reached this town.

Sorceress Adel was legendary for having no empathy, something about the horrible life she had survived through, and equally famous for her near endless bloodshed caused while forcing everyone else to fall under her control. An unstoppable force, an unending threat, the unavoidable end!

Then they invaded Timber, lots of people died, the moon warped, the army freaked the fuck out, and everyone everywhere just sort of went into a holding pattern and held their breath to see what would happen next.

'Next', it turned out, was endless frustration and polite, gentle oppression. Sort-of. And now, most recently, a wave of monsters so scared that they almost politely slid right on by all of Timber's defenses and soldiers and citizens and weaponry.

Shit, what if the beasts had shown this kind of motivation when attacking? Timber would have been flattened instantly. With most of the planet, no doubt.

Angelo whined, getting all the pats because she was a good girl yes she is. "Make sure the families of the injured are taken care of. We got some funds to work with, right?"

He nodded.

Good.

Her late adopted grandma used to always say it was important to feed the weak and protect the hungry. And if nothing else, building a sense of community would help calm things down locally.

Sigh. And fine. "Send any extra medicine to the soldiers on duty through the usual channels. Anonymously."

Watts gave a wry smile. "Yes Sir."

Because the worst soldiers, the ones that killed their parents and the oldest veterans of the Forest Owls resistance? They were all brought back to defend their Sorceress and die in her service back in their capital.

These replacement guys who were sent out here were much younger, and even eagerly fought to protect her town today for whatever reason. Without complaint! Yeah, they were actually not that bad individually. A few were even dating the locals.

It made the resistance even more awkward than before, now that the blatant racism and sexism and abuse and hatred was not just cut back and reprimanded but mostly absent entirely.

If only they would FUCKING LEAVE. Or let the old traditions be followed and the old tales told again, or knock off those stupid random 'Please remember that we own your city, alright?' proclamations from their capital that somehow proves that they have totally won and all that.

Damn it this whole mess is so weird.

Darling Angelo put a paw on her knee. Walkies? Walkies. "Watts, handle that while I go take a quick patrol and check out the wall defenses."

Occupied or not, it was likely that Timber would be the ones to pay to fix all this. They had been forced to pay for all the other changes that the Galbadian Army had set up before, so it wouldn't be surprising. Hopefully the wreckage wasn't too extensive.

He paused. "You sure you'll be alright, Sir?"

Where was that leash? Not that you needed it since you can fight monsters with me like the best girl, yes you can! Yes, yes, we are about to go walkies. "Nothing's out there, no reports have come in. Not even an Ochu's been seen out there since the horde passed through, we'll be fine."

Sheesh, for the second-in-command of the Forest Owls and their infiltration specialist, Watts was such a worry wart.

Doggo is getting walkies!
Everything is fine!
Totally fine!
Adel is totally not Sailor Pluto. No, never, nooo nooot the cuucuuuumbeeeeers!
(Bonus street cred if anyone gets that reference!)

You know, I'm reminded of that scene in Taylor Varga, where MagicalAnimeGodzilla shows up, and Leviathan immediately decides to station-keep on the other side of the planet.

It got so bad, the authorities could vaguely track said MagicGodzilla by seeing where Leviathan was at on the other side of the world.

I imagine the monsters are similar here. Anytime Sarah appears or moves, you suddenly having an expanding circle of fleeing monsters.

After all the space stuff, I was hoping one day Sarah could visit a Sailor Pluto merely to prank/troll her. Sadly, I could see the one Sarah trying to trolled being tied down due to time paradoxes/loops and such as well as various outdated royal geas.

It was fun to see her finally visit the planet. Sarah should have used her Space Scanning first before teleporting into the area. Let's be honest. There is no remote threat on the planet.

Adel is more a rather minor mook for Sarah. Adel is likely fleeing the area as fast as she can without letting her various minions know that. Sure, she can claim she's got something important to do elsewhere, but we know the truth. She was scared out of her wits of Sarah being on the planet or even in the solar system. Time to invoke plan, Run Away. Not that it'd help if she did piss of Sarah.

With all the crap that Sarah had before she even got to this jump, she could already speed run/curb stomp it without blinking. It's rather funny listening to Adam go on about local effects. I thought this was a FF setting and not another cultivator setting. Seemed no one told them that. Explains a lot about various FF settings.

From the way that Adam put things, the local mad scientist invented his own system that let the locals use magic. Cough para-magic for some reason. They then use that to cultivate concepts into their being. They call it equipping the GF on the stats that they want boosted, but it is effectively cultivation on automatic.

Yeah and the worst part is as far as I can tell this is actually the true story of the game!

I feel like it should have been more important than a sub side note in some random note somewhere. I mean this one dude basically created magic for the whole planet by studying random shit! That's hardcore! It's like how Pegasus basically researched Egyptian card games and then created Yu-Gi-Oh for the whole world that can actually trap your soul in a card and crap.

I mean don't get me wrong I love this thing. Final fantasy 8 was the first RPG that I ever played, and while I did get slightly annoyed at spending literally forever leveling up and gathering magic just to find out that I made the game harder for myself... I did love the story.

The need to raise powerful monsters to harvest magic from also explains why there's an FUCKING T-Rex in the mercenary garden facility. Because that fucking terrified me!

Also a heads up to everyone else, Monday is a holiday and I plan to do nothing useful then.

It's like how Pegasus basically researched Egyptian card games and then created Yu-Gi-Oh for the whole world that can actually trap your soul in a card and crap.
I mean, technically the "trap your soul in a card" is not a property of the Duel Monsters game, but rather an adaptation of a property of Shadow Magic in general, and the Shadow Magic granted by the Millennium Items in particular.

There's also the fact that the 'Egyptian card games' was less that, or more actual battles. The cards are kind of shorthand for it? And it's not like Pegasus could go and say that he based the card games on Shadow Magic Duels, rather than ancient card games. Well, how it actually worked back then isn't something I'm too familiar with. It could be Pegasus ended up making it much easier for all that magic to be channeled via creating the card game. (Plus, I suppose, whatever the Toon cards ended up fitting into that. Since I really doubt that they were around in Ancient Egypt. But them also being just as real as all the others.)

Although given that Yami/The Nameless Pharaoh had an instinctive knowledge of how to play, I suppose it's clear that the rules of the Shadow Duels worked like the card game does. I suppose it's a conceit of the setting that it works like that.

In Egypt it supposedly worked by binding Duel Spirits to your soul (preferably willingly), and there was some kind of enforced agreement to have the Duel Spirits fight instead of the Magi. The Magi could cast spells to enhance their duel spirits, alter the land around them, and so on, but the majority of fighting was done by the Spirits. With the card game, this became Monsters, Spells, Traps, whatever else. I think there is a Field type, but that might just be a sub-type of spell?

Basically, the Card Game lets you MIMIC the Magi Duels of Egypt, and through unknown means (I like to think of it as Principle of Similarity; part of the whole is equivalent to the whole, the image of a thing is the thing itself, like calls to like, and so on) the Shadow Games duels became mixed with the mimicked card game duels. This mixing was probably at least partially designed by Pegasus, put also probably partially a surprise from being a new Shadow Magic user.

This means that the various cards can each be considered to be an "image" of their related duel spirit, and thus they ARE their related duel spirit. There are of course only one of some spirits, like Dark Magician Girl and Dark Magician are both actual people or the reflections of those people turned into Duel Spirits, but the principle of similarity makes each of the cards ACT as if they were the entire spirit and no others existed, even if they might, possibly, sometimes exist in reality.

I mean don't get me wrong I love this thing. Final fantasy 8 was the first RPG that I ever played, and while I did get...
What a coincidence. FF8 was the very first RPG I played too, and I could not stop thinking of the story for months after! It was such a bittersweet moment when I finished the game. I still compare all new RPGs to it, at least story wise.

The opening music is still to this day in my playlist.

Sheesh, for the second-in-command of the Timber Wolves and their infiltration specialist, Watts was such a worry wart.
Okay, I haven't played Final Fantasy 8 before, but didn't the Forest Owls link above just say that Watts and the other were part of the Forest Owls not the Timber Wolves? That seems like a bit of a change, but I can't tell if it's from time travel fuckery or if it's a divergence due to the jump itself being unstable.

Is this real life? Is this just fantasy?

No you're right, the Timberwolves were the group that their parents were a part of, I think?

But yeah there's going to be some severe au changes because of this in general. The biggest one is going to be due to the change in enemies in timber, because of the Drastic redirection of all the military forces due to Moon stuff.

I'm still mapping out all the alterations and reality warping this is going to cause, along with how I think the main character and her other versions would have interacted with reality and whether or not that would apply before and after time was squished... But this is going to have a fairly big impact due to the change of motivation and urgency with which Rinoa is going to approach the current situation.

I'm all right talking about the original motivation that she had when going to the Balaam garden to hire the seed mercenary group to help her rebellion attempt to free timber. As far as the main character in the video game knows, she's a self-confident young woman who's very forward outwardly emotionally but who is lacking funding and resources while trying to save her friends and family from a powerful occupying force in her hometown.

I feel like I really should point out that even in the original story The sorceresses were the focus of the game, they were the driving political forces, whole organizations were built up to assist or resist them, the ones in the past built impossible things and the ones in the future could do impossible things... So trying to map out what exactly is going to happen with a new one showing up out of nowhere has been entertaining for me.

The real fun is Ultimecia being literally one of the orphans at the start who wound up wanting to suicide because she was the sorceress of Time. She literally made a stable time loop to try and die, and you don't manage that in game.

Arc 3: Honestly the reversal was unexpected.
Rinoa Heartilly was, most of the time, a fairly easy going woman.

And yes, maybe she was sort of slightly in a 'rebellious phase', as her dad currently led the Galbadian military that she was helping Timber to resist, despite how pathetic the military's occupying force was turning out to be.

But, again, in general? Easy going.

The fact that her tech support team might argue otherwise (No, it was NOT unreasonable to have the best girl (Who's the best girl? You are!) get a collar equipped with a Junction System to help her with limit breaks!) or that she might occasionally get frustrated when her perfect plans have… minor… issues? Uh.

Well, she might have lost her grace and decorum a bit here or there, and may or may not have pouted a little, but IN GENERAL, MOSTLY she was an easy going woman.

Her theoretical patience was being strongly tested. "So can I pass through?"

The gate guard nervously shuffled his feet. "Sorry ma'am, no one can pass through until I am authorized to open the gate."

She leaned to one side as the man fully refused to look behind him. "That gate?"

He nodded. "Gate B3, yes ma'am."

Oh for good grief. "That open gate? The one behind you?"

He flinched. And slumped. "Ma'am, as you know after a major defensive conflict the gates and protective measures must stay closed for four hours after the end of combat to ensure it isn't a lull in battle."

She glanced to the side.

Still open. "And?"

He tried to seem confident, but it wasn't working. "And while there may or may not have been some confusion during the recent hostilities with the native creatures, Timber is to remain under lockdown for another two hours and twelve minutes."

Her dog Angelo clearly wanted to go play. And was confused why they hadn't gone through the open gate to go play/to go examine the city's defenses for damage.

Honestly, so was she at this point. "So you refuse to open Gate B3 until the danger is over?"

He nodded.

A hand wave. "Can I lean against the 'closed' gate with my dog then?"

He whimpered. "Ma'am… Look, come here."

The poor guy whispered. "When leadership ordered the gates opened during active combat, some of the creatures being fought and the unplanned collateral damage may have caused some maintenance issues."

Oh god. "The gate can't close, can it?"

He winced. "Officially it IS closed, and I can't authorize it being open for another…" He checked his equipment time. "Two hours and and seven minutes."

Glancing to both sides, he whispered. "That said, I was ordered to stay at my post. Specifically, to not move or alter my position guarding the sealed exit. For any reason."

Rinoa paused. "Is…" Seeing his frantic looks she sighed and whispered too. "Is that why you are half standing on that trash?"

He gave a pathetic nod. "I asked if I could clean up a little and got shut down hard. Someone upper on the chain is freaking out and is being VERY anal retentive on procedures right now."

Was she getting a headache? "So if I walked behind you?"

He grinned. "Then officially I assume you just left at some point and saw nothing. As I'm not allowed to even turn around for another..." A glance. "Two hours and three minutes."

Yeah, that was a headache. "Oh my god, why!? I mean…"

He sighed. "Because even if you actively broke the rules and 'assaulted' my 'sealed' gate I am required to stand here facing away from you and shout for all illicit actions to cease and desist until I believe you two have returned to Timber and complied with my instructions. And I don't want to scream at the town for two hours and…" A look. "For one hour and fifty eight minutes, so uh…"

This fucking occupation was so fucking stupid. "So I'll just calmly and peacefully relax a few feet behind you for an unknown amount of time, possibly heading home at some point that you just never noticed, and that's good enough that you can continue standing there literally not doing anything?"

The relief he was showing was a bit pathetic. "Thank you for your understanding ma'am."

Well, great. "Come on Angelo, let's stand behind this nice sir suspiciously quietly for the next…?"

He grinned. "One hour and fifty six minutes."

What a fast working clock. But fine. "Yes, for that amount of time or more."

Angelo wasn't exactly following along with the situation but she was willing enough to follow her human around the poor man trapped in managerial tape and downright EAGER to go through the 'closed' gate.

Good grief.

Outside the defensive walls, the damage was… Well, it was clear the wave of creatures were very focused on escape and not destruction.

In general each defensive segment showed low level chipping and scratches and impact damage… But once something got through the rest would give up and follow the new path. Ironically it meant that the weakest structures were the least damaged, as a beast would smash a segment open and the rest would widen it a bit and follow rather than clear out the blockage entirely.

The gates, all the ones on this side of town… Yeah, they'd need replacing. Sure, opening them let the bizarre ocean of death flow through the city, but BEFORE that odd order came down these frantic psychos had chewed, hacked, stabbed, tore, and mangled everything keeping them out with frantic need.

It was impressive these things opened enough despite the damage in the first place!

That or the creatures themselves helped the structures operate, which seems likely based on the corpses not cleared up… Most of that wave had ignored their fellow demons and beasts, but these flesh piles were clearly sliced up by non-standard weapons. Fellow claws and such, most like.

It was super gross too.

Suddenly Angelo whimpered and was… Trying to force her to retreat? What!?

She checked her Blaster Edge, an old but reliable Pinwheel model that would slice and return for further targets, but there didn't seem to be anything. "What is it girl!?"

Her whimper was disturbing, though she refused to retreat and leave her owner behind… When she went silent.

Fuck. Had she tempted fate by coming out here with little support? Well, FUCK fate then! "Is anybody out there!?"

And the world t͕̞̟̼̮w͇̮̝̹i̪̤̰sͅt̤̼e̼̹̻̥̥͎d̟.

Stepping from nowhere with the grace of a queen, a Goddess in a sinful business suit strode forward.

Theoretically professional, the high quality silk suit glowed slightly as the pearl haired beauty had glowing silver highlights teasing her skin… Yet even obscured by her coverings, hints of a near white glow seemed to accent every curve and tempt the senses.

But her fabulous hair and sensual body hidden under her nearly illicit outfit wasn't what was making her mind blank.

Nor was it the spike of bone in one hand or the silver flames of S̫͙̜̘̭p̼̺͉̪͉͙a͈͉͙̞ͅc̞̺̗̳̫e͎̲ that caressed her form in unseen ways.

No. Her eyes.

Those near liquid metal, silver eyes.

Damn they were beautiful.

Perfection seemed to brighten as a smile graced reality. "Hello! My name is Sarah and… Oh what an adorable doggie!"

Angelo seemed to suddenly relax, although the poor thing did look VERY confused. Like someone just pulled the 'Pretend to throw the Stick' routine on her or something.

And then Sarah, with a body that could topple nations, decided to kneel down and pet her dog.

Which gave an AMAZING view from this angle.

Right, be smooth girl! "Hello…?" Shit! Recover! "She's Angelo and I'm Rinoa and I'm a good girl."

And her face burst into fiery embarrassment.

Sigh. Nailed it, great job Rinoa.

Those astounding eyes should be marked as deadly. "Ah, sorry, I should have asked to pet Angelo here first… I've just had the worst luck finding anything out here before now. I thought stumbling on a monster or something to [[Draw]] from would be easier than this… And then I find you and this little cutie patootie here!"

Fuck it, Rinoa was going to keep her.

And apparently, the leader of the Forest Owls realized, she herself was clearly bisexual, though she had always suspected it before…

Sigh, she was going to have to dust off those theoretical plans she shelved in her old journals (NOT diaries, sheesh). Thankfully she had written organizational charts about potential polyamorous courtship during an especially introspective part of her life, so she had something to work with.

Go for the soft sell. Introduce yourself again, this time in a less spastic way, and try to hang out a bit! Also, keep the lewding and ogling to a minimum, you can do this. You can do this!

Rinoa took a calming breath and settled down. "Would you join my harem!?"

...Fuck! That wasn't calm or smooth at ALL! Damn it, she didn't even know if this clearly powerful woman was even INTERESTED in other women!

Sarah blinked… And gave her a tingly visual once over. "I mean, uh. Maybe? Though it depends on what my Summon and my girlfriends think when it comes to something long term."

~~~Broken Adventure~~~
Sarah absently pet the adorable dog who was now rolling on her back for scritches. "Hello?"
Nope, the young lady, apparently the 'good girl' Rinoa, was checked out. Ah well. "We can talk about that later, I can tell some sort of big fight happened here. Can I help?"
Much easier to ask for some units of para-magic to trade with if she was helpful first, right?
Rinoa was staring blankly at nothing, although she WAS quietly giggling and clearly imagining something. Why was she so out of it?
Shiva hummed <I think you are radiating a LOT of magic right now. Like, uh… A WHOLE lot. At least compared to the levels I'm sensing from this young lady. That might be setting off odd reactions I guess, depending on how 'normal' this Rinoa is compared to other locals. Not sure what would happen if someone tried to [[Draw]] from us right now, but likely nothing good.>
Wait, what!? <Adam!>
A distant grumbling. Fucking… <Can you at least show Shiva how to handle this!?>
<<Alert: Shiva is attempting to learn [[Summon: Diablos]] exclusive skills [[Enc-Half]] and [[Enc-None]]!>>
Shiva flinched. <Holy SHIT! My ḇ̪̤͎̥̫ͅr̺̭̩̙a̖͚͙ḭ̱͍ͅͅn̹̠̰͔̺̮!>
<<Alert: Shiva has managed to learn [[Summon: Diablos]] exclusive skills [[Enc-Half]] and [[Enc-None]]. Recovery estimated at 33 minutes.>>
Her rage echoed in Sarah's mind. <No SHIT Sherlock! What the HELL!?>
Sarah was gently poking Rinoa's cheek. Not fixed yet. "Shiva, what does the new skill do?"
The echo of pain made her wince too. <It puts my mind in a blender, THAT'S what it does! No wonder Adam wants you to [[Scan]] these skills and stuff from existing GF's, that was painful as fuck!>
Oh. "Are… Are you alright?"
A grumble. <Yeah, yeah. It's a skill that not only masks our magical aura, which would cut our encounters with creatures by half, but can actively draw a bit of ambient aura out of the world too. Makes it very uncomfortable for beasts and demons and stuff, they would actively avoid us.>
Huh. "Could you activate the first one? The half encounter option?"
Shiva sighed. <Yeah, but I can't learn anything else for a while and my headache won't go away for about half an hour. Here ya go.>
[[Enc-Half.]]
Something shifted… And suddenly Rinoa blinked. "Huh? Oh. I'm still outside? Man, this is one strange wet-dream. Damn good one though."
Sarah paused… And chuckled. "Oh really?"
Her new acquaintance froze. Or was that her new potential Harem leader? That would be a new one. Though Elizabeth would likely approve, based on past conversations and a few of the more odd comments in her note.
Rinoa seemed to catch up slightly. "Uh." And began to blush. "Ah." Yep, that was a hell of a blush. "Oh hi, my favorite dog of all time! Who's the perfect distraction? You are!"
Sarah smirked. "She is?"
The attractive woman nodded firmly. "Yes she is, she certainly is making sure you don't remember anything about anything from the last five minutes. Except the good stuff. And it was all good stuff and you are impressed by how mature and not spastic I am and I'm going to file a good chunk of that into my mental repression folder."
What? "All of that? So we can talk about the harem stuff later I guess."
Rinoa nearly broke but managed to stay 'calm' and 'collected', with only a minor pink in her cheeks. "Y… Yep!"
It was honestly impressive.
Heh. "So you were sophisticated and suave and so on and so forth?"
A firm nod as the woman seemed to pull herself together. "Yep!"
The smirk was a bit more suggestive. "And you are a good girl?"
A mature young woman with fire in her spine firmly nodded. "Ye… Uh."
And nearly collapsed into blushes and stuttering.
Oh, Sarah was going to keep her!
~~~Broken Adventure~~~

When the angel of death and bones vanished from behind them, energies vanishing entirely, the impromptu army of monsters and mutants and demons and beasts all had the same idea, simultaneously.

Run faster.

Somewhere behind them was an unstoppable, irresistible h̪un̗̟̥̝̠̥͔g̹͖͙e̠̖r.

And now they couldn't detect it.

And it was (hopefully) still behind them.

And not directly next to them.

Or, as the more terrified and intellectual entities feared, possibly in front of them. Or floating above.

They fled, they ran hard, and they didn't bother to defend themselves or fight the moronic local beasts and creatures and people in their path.

If they didn't know about what was behind them, maybe their gnarled and gnawed corpses could slow her feasting. Give them more time to flee.

It wouldn't be enough, nothing ever could be, but maybe they would die slower.

~~~Broken Adventure~~~
Rinoa was walking around Timber as Sarah helped her toss sticks for Angelo to chase after. "Yeah, I'm mostly staying out of the way. The locals like me well enough, but everyone tries to walk on eggshells around me. Either because I lead a resistance cell or because dad is important to the occupying forces."
Sarah chuckled. "You are pretty open about your secret job, aren't you?"
Sigh. Like there was a point. "Dad found out I came here pretty damn quick, and uh… Well, somehow he decided I would be safer here than coming home. I had initially planned on helping Timber rebel from our nation's rule and recover their freedom and reclaim their history… And then everything went all funky."
She winced. "My 'teenage rebellion'... It's pretty much an open secret already. And while it is useful as my groups get treated with velvet gloves and a mostly hands off approach, I'm pretty sure that part of the reason these stupid soldiers won't leave is because Dad replaced most of the real jerks with people ordered to help protect me and this area."
The other woman blinked. "Huh. So uh… Why not leave? Won't they follow along?"
Rinoa groaned. "Because I'm worried what will happen to this place if I go. Will these fairly alright soldiers get reassigned? Will the oppression get a thousand times worse? If anything, I'm almost acting like the local representative of the Galbadian Republic, who is fairly popular because I keep trying to get us to LEAVE. And I know my actions have saved a lot of people over the years."
Not all the resistance cells had plans, or organizations, or funds… Or even food sometimes. The Forest Owls had mutated over the years into something like an underground blackmarket social system or advanced illegal charity. Hell, if she was willing to just give up it was very likely the local 'enemy' leadership would just blatantly follow her orders.
Except if she asked them to leave.
It was so. Damned. Frustrating!
Sigh. "I'm spending more time rebuilding damaged areas for the poor and helping hurt fighters and stuff nowadays than stealing resources or sabotaging shipments! And the better I do at trying to fix this city up, the less motivation people have to join my resistance cells!"
Some dark part of herself feared that at some point the Galbadian Republic soldiers AND the citizens of Timber would just swear loyalty to Rinoa directly and force her to do all this horrifying paperwork and political finangling forever!
She grumbled. Everyone talked about the potential death and dismembering that can occur when you create a resistance movement against a much more deadly and powerful foe. No one considered the risks of too much 'success'.
Her best girl brought back the stick (More like a bone from some beast corpse, but that just made it a chew toy as well). Aim a bit higher, and put ALL her damn frustration in! "ARGH! I just wanted to help some people! Not be elected mayor or whatever!"
That one got some distance, and the dog was off.
Sarah hummed. "No, no. I get it. I just like to build stuff and… Well, I tend to pick up political power in the process as a side effect. That and people do a lot for me in exchange for good trade deals."
Trade?
Her mind instantly began moving over the financial documents for Timber, the resistance cells, the recent shortages and supply redistribution lists, the… No.
No, she was walking around with a beautiful woman who seemed both interesting AND potentially interested in her last minute harem plan.
Focus.
Though her curiosity did force her to ask in the end, anyway. "Trade?"
Sarah hummed. "I was stuck somewhere very boring for a long time, and I ended up setting up a bunch of farms and housing and stuff to pass the time. And then I found out people liked the grown products, made some trades for some unrelated goods, and then I just… Trained a lot."
Huh. Something about that tickled her memory somehow. Probably wasn't important. "Well, training is important." Goodness knows that it had taken forever teaching Angelo combination attacks.
And the experimental Junction Collar System didn't exactly act as expected all the time.
Like, how on earth did Angelo manage to use [[Invincible Moon]] to cause complete damage negation, temporary as it was? Or even duplicate the effects of a phoenix down with [[Angelo Reverse]]? Sigh, well, as long as it worked.
Point is, she knew training was vital to ensure safe battles.
Not that her dog always used any particular combination that Rinoa expected each and every time, but still, training certainly helped move things along. Ensured they could react as needed to strange situations.
Sarah sighed. "When I say 'Trained a lot', I mean for like a decade or something. Not that my mind can remember it all."
Uh. What? "You started training at seven!?" Sarah was like 18 or 20 right? Or maybe a tall 16 year old? Fucking training hard core since seven. Sheesh, what had Rinoa been doing at seven!? Political parties, most likely. Old memories of her mom at least made those bearable.
The bone white haired goddess waved that off. "Probably not, either started before I was born or eons later. It's a messed up story, but uh… Basically don't mess with time travel. To keep myself sane I only remember the last five years at a time now, with notes to keep me from having issues when something important happens."
The bone was back, and she absently tossed it so her dog could go frantically chase it. "Huh." She had never used [[Slow]], [[Haste]], or [[Stop]] before… but now she was CERTAIN to avoid them. Sheesh!
A couple of glances… If she was secretly an old lady, she looked DAMN fine for one.
Sarah smirked and seemed to catch the unspoken thought. "Anyway, I came down here to sample para-magic, get some spells to work with, and maybe beat up some beasts. Haven't seen anything and it was really frustrating me."
Wow. "You know, you are super lucky. There was this HUGE wave of monsters earlier today, they were all freaking out… about…"
Her mind flickered. Angelo in terror. Her mind checking out, basically enthralled. A woman who walked through reality like others walked through doors or hallways.
Fuck. "The monster horde was running from you."
Suddenly the tattoos, beautiful as they were, made her mentally make other connections. From news casts, from history books. To Sorceress Adel. The same Sorceress who fled from Timber without explanation, who seemed to be in hiding now.
Double Fuck. "You're a Sorceress."
Shit.
The bones. And now that she focused on something inside that hurt to touch, she could almost taste unseen wings. Some echo of ḥ̤̬̝̪u̹̖͉̹̳̰n̝̰̜̱̯̘͚g̺̖̦e̬̤͇̬̮͈r̠̤̺̪̬̜͓, imaginary or not, seemed to drift on the wind.
The Bone Sorceress.
How long had the two of them walked past this section of wall anyway? Too long, right? The company and her best canine friend had just made the time slip, making her miss the slight errors in reality.
A long lost memory. "Look child, to the moon hung with the stars."
A glance upwards… And the Moon did look different today. The spiral of silver city seemed to be spreading faster. To shimmer with energy unlike yesterday.
Well, not like having her friends or even a damn army here would do much to help. Aside from potentially distracting this woman with their corpses as everyone scattered, the game was up.
Fuck. "Hey, if you're going to eat me or something, could you let my dog go home?"
The silver haired goddess/Sorceress blinked. And blushed. "That's a bit forward, don't you think? I mean, harem or not we haven't even gone on a date yet."
And her mind hiccupped.
Sarah coughed. "Anyway! On more, less adult rated topics! What kind of food is popular in Timber? I might not have any local currency, but I've got apples that would knock your socks off!"
Death gently tugged her shoulder and played with her dog, and she followed along with a confused heart and a babble of sound flowing through the air.
Some part of her mind, the part still freaking out but less on topic then the rest, was trying to point out that adding a sexy Sorceress to your harem had to count for bonus points somewhere, but the rest of her was horrified at the idea of explaining all this to Watts and the poor Galbadian soldier protecting the open 'closed' gate.
Rinoa blinked. "Wait, what?"
Sarah hummed. "Yeah, all the milk and cheese I want! Seriously, the farms love my veggies, even if we just barter back and forth."
Weren't Moon Produce near legendary? At least they were in Timber. A preserved radish from the Lunar Kingdom would pay rent and bills for a family of five for a few months, easily. "How much… No, explain the bartering stuff first."
And this beautiful woman from her nightmares, the darkness of endless cautionary tales, the cause of numerous dire warnings told by elders... Cheerfully explained how some moronic cow farmers were basically ripping off the goddamn Lunar Kingdom by trading a few Gil's worth of milk for fruits and vegetables each worth a king's ransom.
Suddenly, the endless shock and awe (And some erotic fear, don't judge her!) gave way to wry frustration. "No."
Sarah blinked. "No?"
Rinoa nodded. "No. Cancel all those trades in the future, go through my people. Not many here can afford your food, but we got connections to the nobles and military leaders who CAN… Hell, we can BUILD you a custom milking facility and cheese warehouse for less than you were being charged."
Her silver eyes sparkled! "Can we also buy samples of para-magic!? I could save loads of time!"
Good grief, for the value of your goods you could buy TOWNS. "Yes. Yes we can."
Right, freak out about demonic Sorceress moon ladies potentially consuming reality later. Let's get back to Watts and her contacts and set up some illicit underground farmer's markets.
They headed back to Gate B3.
Passing the guard at the Gate, she coughed. "Oh my! I do believe I found my friend behind you, who was just as silent for a long time with me and my dog as we stood here, again, suspiciously quietly. For some time!"
The man didn't turn around. "Oh? Well, I'm glad I'm not going to have to do any paperwork as I am still required to stand here for…" A sigh. "Another thirteen minutes. But feel free to tell Ms. Karen that I'll be stopping by her bakery to pick something up on my way home, if she can save something for me."
Sigh. fine. "No problem." Half this damn town used her as a messenger, it was so frustrating. But at least it let her 'get away' with stuff like this. STUPID stuff like this.
The man's posture froze when Sarah walked past him though. "Have a nice fhqWhGads!?"
No! Rinoa saw her first! "She's going to be in MY harem!"
...That was out loud, wasn't it?
A glance met sparkling silver eyes.
Damn it!
Rinoa and Angelo are now my Spirit Animals.
It's like every new Arc of this story gives me a new Spirit Animal.
I kinda want Sarah's next jump to be something super silly, like Rugrats, Dragon Maid, South Park, Simpsons or Kids Next Door. Something silly like those.
Behold Death, the source of the childhood stories of terror and fear... and producers of some legendary farm products. Also, fairly easy to get along with with you ignore the eldritch scraping at the bounds of reality with a presence so terrible and grand that anything that actually has working survival instincts wants to RUN AWAY!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! and even the other Sorceresses are not sure if they want to tangle with her.
And by not sure about tangling with her, I think the one that had invading ran back to their home to hide under their bed.
