Huh...

For everyone else, the story we are talking about is... Somewhere out there, and I read it. A bit.

I had to stop.

The premise was fun, if it had been played for laughs. Guy falls asleep, finds himself constantly waking up in some girl's bed from an anime or story or whatever. Do the anime dope slap, funny shenanigans, whatever, it could have been fun!

But no.

They played it straight.

So you got a terrified guy constantly being accused of rape and stuff, waking up next to incredibly powerful women who NEVER listen to logic or arguments or understanding, moving from one life threatening situation to the next. He gets robbed, tortured, experimented on...

The whole thing feels depressing. Even death isn't an out, because he might keep moving on anyway... And then he finds out it loops back in a pattern, so past actions suddenly have dire consequences out of nowhere. I tried to stick with it, but... I wasn't having fun, he wasn't having fun, the women were horrified/angry/eventually sympathetic to some degree but unable to change anything, and whoever set it up (ROB or whatever) seems to have left it on autoplay.

So... Not even being done for some bastards amusement or any purpose, just random suffering.

Uch. I really disliked that story. Maybe it got better after I quit reading it? No idea.

I think at one point he accidentally short circuits a loop from Ranma to Tenchi by bumping into Ryoga's mom and helping her clean and winding up on a space pirates ship that was getting arrested by the ditz cop and her competent partner as a method to get back to Washu.

@theaceoffire Thanks for the amazing story. This was one of the first stories I started reading on SV and it has kept me captivated every step of the way. I'm sad to leave the many adventures of Adam and his Shadow for now, but I can't wait for your next story.

The new features include the ability to NEST threadmarks (Oh yeah, going to do stuff with that), possibly change the label of threadmarks? Not sure on that one... Hmm.

When I post the new story, I may take a few hours to just... Mess with it. Lord knows I would be too terrified to play with a story that is already a few hundred thousand words long, so this might be the only chance I get to do something that any time soon with few consequences.

I will say that it feels rough not forcing myself to do 4k+ chapter updates each time, by the way... But if I don't start at a low 2k or so NOW, I will end up at 15k update chapters before I know it and that would bury me. Writing is supposed to be enjoyable, or else why do it?

I also don't like writing so much in advance. Somehow the story itself feels too light and wispy if it isn't published along the way... Too ethereal or something. Having the constraints of 'Nope, I already said it so now I have to deal with it!' helps me be a bit more creative, sort of like how restrictions can help make programmers accomplish impressive stuff.

For example, there is an ongoing project that tries to make the smallest possible linux operating system called Tiny Core Linux which is only 10 megabytes big! It is part of a whole hidden world where people try to make tiny operating systems for crappy hardware, but it feels like an entirely different universe from ours when a new video game like Call of Duty: Modern Warfare can hit 231 GB.

...A bit off topic there. Cough.

Again, Monday.

If nesting threadmarks turns out to be useful, I should be able to group each world together... That would be handy!

Why don't we readers submit out own instances of Adam-realities?
add-ons to be included in a "omake" tab, like that completely ridiculous stories on Space BAttles (*cough* Law-ing snowballing effect *cough* BEEEEESSSSS!!!! *cough)
That way the story lives on, on the seal of approval from @theaceoffire, pending inclusion on said list, that way he can relax reading other peoples shenanigans

Well given some of what Ace has been saying, I think that the next story will be a continuation of sorts. After all, how can you blame Adam for something happening, if he doesn't show up in some form or the other. Well, outside of escaping the fictionality of their own setting. Which... okay, to be fair I can recall a few settings that have an in-universe setup like that.

Alright, official policy from me about this: Any new story with 30k+ word length that is a spinoff thread from Broken Adventure will be linked and included as 'Related Adventures' in the ending threadpost of this thread, the one I am posting on Monday that will be linking to my next story.

It will be updated when I am aware of them.

I'd appreciate those stories linking back to 'Broken Adventure' as well, but it isn't a requirement.

That way people who have put the effort in get rewarded, but I won't have to come back to this post every day randomly to find a dozen or so posts of 600 words to link to, or be forced to come up with pun related nicknames for each snippet, etc.

Furthermore, the list will be ordered by 'Completed Status', then 'Length'. At some random interval I'll check for updates and fix any ordering issues that come up at some later point.

To, again, reward people who put in effort.

Adam 'Adventure' Burns continues to be busy doing many paperwork things while Shadow spreads throughout reality, but unbeknownst to most people something of his took a bit of a trip. His System Core, a Conceptual System that could adapt and grow from nothing but a vague idea, has been shedding seeds throughout the Abyss as Adam and his Shards and his Shadow traveled.

While it may be impossible to find them all and see what they are doing, one such Seed of the Conceptual System has managed to find someone in need, lost and alone. While not entirely normal compared to other Systems in existence, to its Owner? His Pocket System is the best!

Should any watchers of the Abyss see Adam or his people doing their thing, and managed to document 30k+ words of their travels in a post-umentary, they shall be listed here in a hall of probably-heroes-maybe. It will probably be fine.

It feels like he has the libido of a rabbit buck which barely any change in circumstance can effect. It's kind of immersion breaking.

Was it meant to be a side effect of his recovery powers?

if it's after the lung fight it's because his body and soul got a power source and it supercharged him so the fucking was one way his body was trying to get rid of energy

No I don't think I've seen him fight a lung yet. Last section I was on was just after he built an entire mansion out of flame metal and it's been very noticeable almost ever since he started having any human contact.

I dropped this story somewhere around 1/4th of its total run, because all the MC does is fuck, find new girls to fuck, and establish some automated solutions to fix shit in the new verse for him, while he finds new girls to fuck. Did it change in later chapters? I don't know, but I'm not too keen to find out.

I actually really like the whole finding automated solutions part of this whole thing quite a lot. So that's good news!

It's also less that he fucks and more that his internal monologue feels like being asked to take a 24 hour break from discussing how much he wants to fuck more would be like resisting the one ring for boromir or similar.

Well, I wouldn't mind this story if this one was the only big complaint. Exploring the new world, talking and helping people, maybe doing some casul shit, while automated shit fixes stuff in the background. But no. All there is is "I want to fuck", "who could I fuck", "hey, let's fuck", "we're fucking". Even worse, it's not only the MC that does this but every pouched female along the way among each other as well. When I dropped it, it was like softcore porn with some plot on the side.

To be honest, i don't think that i noticed that, but now that i look...

I dropped the moment Adam became more OP, smarter and competent than everyone else.

And that, if written well wouldn't necessarily be a problem, very hard to do, but possible(something like Absolute Power Sucks Absolutely or A Crooked Man), but everything lined up almost perfectly for him, probably benefits of being something something dead ROB protagonistic reincarnation something something, him having significantly obvious plot armor and his mindset.

You could call this a OP OC/SI multicross Fix Fic.

I'm not saying the story isn't good, it wouldn't have hundreds of likes otherwise, but i suppose that the lack of stakes, protagonist and tone of the story weren't for me.
