Really, what kind of bad stuff could possibly come from the Dreamlands?Rolling higher is better.
I will say any immediate negative consequences involving Dreams may be hard to spot.
But that doesn't mean they aren't there.
is this missing the Reward Section, or what?
You don't need to repeat yourself omega.Right now, what our team needs is a feminine touch. And someone who already knows how to work a baseball bat.
ah sorry for saying something so obvious then
sort of a shame that a good situation for that's gone, but rumors has multiple tiers at least so there's the most chance of it boosting stuff? and going by this turn's results, wow, looks like it dedinitely did.gah, I knew I should've been watching this thread like a hawk today. that window was slim enough that I didnt get to vote =w=;;
would've really appreciated us using Porky's +10 otherwise, but hey, maybe we'll crit I guess? amazed that nobody chose the arcade, but at least someone was interested in using that bonus with the OPF, alas.
not the QM, but the current roll seems very mixed. did what we hoped for, but now we're probably even more entangled with the whole medusa cult situation. bet you guys didn't expect that, huh. (i didn't either). so anyone who hoped to avoid additions (like me) probs aren't doing too well. this plotline may be fun, at least? And if the QM is so kind, can I ask if rolling higher on the Dream roll was better or was it rolling lower?
prevention is good. maybe there's some action for "try to prevent alien plots" that gives us extra time we may want to be considering? that'd probably be in intrigue/martial/diplomacy though, ughOK...Jesus Christ...Yeah, uh, we rolled great, no complaints there, but, um...Good god. Yeah, next turn, it's time to look into the cops, talk to the Sharks, and do whatever else we can to prevent an all out war.
Great start to the turn, crit on making our people not suck ass at fighting.

Uh oh.
Eh, decent. I'll take it.
Aw, he does care about Picky.
I know it worked in the game, but I don't think fighting the Sharks will help. It worked for Ness because he was an upstanding model youth well respected by seemingly everyone, a paragon of thirteen-year old excellence and virtue (IE everything CD isn't) and he still had to fight off police brutality afterwards. The cops will just see one gang of crims fighting another. Plus, while we're certainly better then we used to be, we're still not really ready to take on the Sharks, like, just in terms of being able to actually beat them. No, I think it's time to try some Diplomacy. Frankie's not stupid, if we can convince him he's getting manipulated, we might be able to get him to at least lay low and not make things worse. Who knows, maybe we could team up to try and end this blockade. I like the idea of Frankie as a hero unit.Great start to the turn, crit on making our people not suck ass at fighting.

THIRD CRIT?
God damn everybody is locking in today.
We can't win 'em all though. Better luck next time CD.
...god dammit, I can't hate him after that.
He's not built for this, and he knows he isn't, and he hates it, but he's going to knuckle down and try anyway.
Good luck Porky. I think you've earned some today.
Dawww.
Uh oh.
That's... concerning, but there's not a lot we can do about that right now?
Eh, decent. I'll take it.
Aw, he does care about Picky.
And to be quite frank, there's a lot of 'cool stuff' to go around in the future, so I'm fine with this ambition.
All in all, that was an amazing turn for the outfielders as a whole, and only a decent turn for our Hero Units mentally.
That dreamer thing is very concerning to me, but... fuck, we don't have anything we can do about it, and it was a middling result, so lets just... hope that was okay.
Porky has lost his hated status from me. I'm not sure how to feel about that.
The Sharks are about to start beef with the police, and the police are looking for someone to beef with as an excuse to exert more control. That ain't good.
I'm honestly wondering if it might be worth it to try and time an attack on the police alongside the Shark's attack, and try to knock them out before things can get really locked down, or if we should try and stop the Sharks before they can attack the cops and set things off in the first place.t
Our Outfielders are shaping up, but emphasis on the 'up'.
[X] Kyoko
I'll be blunt, I feel like our best move here is:
-Recruit Kyoko for the good combat unit.
-Stop the Sharks by attacking them.
-Hope to god the police aren't looking too hard when we do so.
I really want Mr B, but I don't feel like we have a lot of time here to spare, before the fan is hit with far more shit than we can handle.
...huh, I didn't even mean to put 'by attacking them' on there.I know it worked in the game, but I don't think fighting the Sharks will help. It worked for Ness because he was an upstanding model youth well respected by seemingly everyone, a paragon of thirteen-year old excellence and virtue (IE everything CD isn't) and he still had to fight off police brutality afterwards. They're kids and teens dressed in shark themed helmets and outfits. All of them seem to try to stay as mobile as possible using skates, scooters, and to a lesser degree pogo sticks. None of them seem to have received any special training, they're simply more experience then most kids in getting into scrapes. Putting them on level with you to a degree. Their weapons are usually their fists, sticks, rocks, clubs, and occasionally the rare knife. They're not packing anything serious, but getting beat over the head by three people with skateboards is still rough. Shark members tend to work in groups and use their mobile to either run away quickly, or run down people they're after.
As others have already mentioned, the stone statue is likely an idol to Medusa, from Kid Icarus. She's a goddess. Tackling Medusa would be risky; but if we go down this route - I could see us encountering and perhaps gaining help from Palutena (or Pallas Athena), and likely Pit, as well.
This has left some in town wondering how the truck got through the barricade. Most assume that the driver had to have gotten express permission from the mayor. Others assume the driver used some strange influence to get the police to let them drive past without a fight.
The only thing that's known for suse is that the driver was carrying a large stone tablet in the flatbed of the truck...
"I like collecting old or banned media from Earth." Fedora follows Mr. B's words, as if emboldened to share. "Like the esoteric spy thriller series Rocky and Bullwinkle. I'm sure you've never heard of it."
"Everyone thinks my dad works in another area, but he's really one of those new-age retro hippie people." Stander admits with visible discomfort. "Like, I'm pretty sure most of my lunch money is drug money."
"When I ask you to, I want you to gather people up and bring them here to listen to what I have to say."
No superfluous words are wasted. You bluntly state what you want, what you need. Choking out the words as your chest tightens with apprehension.
"This isn't something everyone can know, but I'll tell you all what I know then."
"And...that's it?" Mr. B asks. "What if there's nothing we can do to help? What if uh, we don't want to help?"
"Then you won't." Standing up from the table you walk to the exit hatch in the floor and flip it open with your foot. "No one twisted my arm to do this, so I don't intend to twist yours either."
The boys all watch as you descend the ladder, dropping out of sight.
"Every asshole in this town wants to make other people do what they say. If you do help me, it'll be because you chose to."
Its to the point where the bugs are starting to show up in the northern forests, but they haven't reached the edge of town or the Treehouse behind the library at least...

"You first, what do you two want to be when you grow up?" You smile, forcing the frightening feelings down as far as they'll go. Immediately you see your siblings faces light up and speak up, eager to be the first to share.
"I want to be a geneticist, or at least I think that's what the title would be." Floppy spouts excitedly, almost shouting in the house as they clutch their hands.
"I read once that Metpharm is able to make whole new bodies for people if they want, or I guess modify their existing ones? Either way I think that's really wonderful Imagine if everyone was able to be exactly what and who they wanted to be. I love the idea of doing that, or making entirely new things! Though I don't know if I'd want to do that just with genetics, or with genetics and cybernetics. I guess I'll have to study both..."
"You just want to play with people parts like you play with building bricks!" Kart says, sticking his tongue out at Floppy.
"I want to be an archeologist, which is waaaaay less gross. There's a bunch of super cool ruins all over the place and it would be the best job in the world to learn everything about them! There's this one company called uh, GM? GT? GD? I don't remember, but someone at school said their dad used to work for them looking into all sorts of stuff in the Outlands. I'd give anything to have a job like that. Like, now even! By the time I'm done with school all the cool stuff will probably have already been found-!"
"I've got too much stuff going on right now. Besides I haven't been able to play baseball in years. It kind of takes a team to play that game and, well, you know..."
Though you don't see it as you stare down into the table, Kart and Floppy share a look. Each nodding to one another.
"It doesn't mean you can't learn! And it's not like you have school to take up anymore of your time."
"Yeah! I'm sure if you can find a way to a river you can just bully someone into ferrying you back and forth between here and River City!" Kart asserts, speaking like it was really that simple.
"Alright, alright. If I ever get the chance and I somehow find myself less busy I'll consider it."
"I believe my friend here can summarize my answer for me."

Each character under the control of the players in a battle has a set number of Action Points (AP) they can spend to make certain decisions in a fight.
[] Try to Reposition to a more favorable location (1 Action): You're fighting in the open street more or less surrounded on all sides. Thankfully you're on the edge of town, if you can run a bit and drag this fight a bit farther away, you could reposition to the forest or at least somewhere with some terrain you could take advantage of. [Sport! Is in effect for this action]
[C.D] - 1 AP Action: Try to Reposition to a more favorable location
Your Result: 54 +15 = 69
[SPORTY TRAIT ACTIVE]
[] Climb a Tree and Get the Drop on Them! (1 Action): It's more about elevation then stealth, but you doubt the aliens look up anymore then a normal person does. Dropping in from above would increase your chances of success, be it in attack or otherwise. And your mom said you wouldn't be climbing trees when you got older. This action is effected by the Sporty Trait!
[C.D] - 1 AP Action: Climb a Tree and Get the Drop on Them!
Your Result: 1d100 = 36 + 16 = 52 [SPORTY Trait in Effect]
Old memories of climbing trees as a little kid with █̴̲̓█̷̛̙͍̐█̸̛̤͈̞͖̈̓́̚█̷͖̉͆͊█̴̫͔͂̀͜ flood back to you amidst the silence rustling of leaves.
Off in another room, a Man laughs and his laugher compels others to laugh. Eager to please him, or frightened to lose his favor.
Glasses are clinked together, towering strangers walk over you, but you remain unseen.
The Man is unwilling, or unable, to see you.
With deft hands that shake ever so slightly, the women mends your Plushie. Though you can see the thread and needle now, in the moment it looks like magic.
"You have to be careful with the things you care about. Things can unravel and fall apart if you pull at the loose threads, even if you don't mean to. That's true for plushies and for people."
You don't understand the meaning of her words as she hands back your Plushie.
Hugging it to your chest you look up at the women as she stands up.
"I love you, Mommy."
Trees feet thick go threadbare.
Solid granite rocks are opened up like badly tended toys.
And the hardened exterior of the Starman floats off it's interior frame. Fluttering and shifting like a stretch of fabric attached by lines of steel and sinew reduced to threads.
Sensitive electronics and preserved, mutilated organics exposed to the open air.
You straighten your self out, head held high.
All the Starman can think to do is scream.
All it takes is a thought.
"NO PLEASENONONONONONONO THISISN'TPOSSIBLE-"
A simple visualization.
The Starman's arms begin to rapidly unravel.
Y̸̢̟̟̻̱̍ọ̸͗͒̂͑͐̌̋ų̵͈̫̆ ̴̧̗̦͓̖̪̟̰̒P̶̥̲̳̠̭̯̺̐͒͛̈́ų̸̥̳͎̳̀̌̒̈̄̏ͅļ̸̳̖͎̜͊l̶͚̤͈̯̝͙͊̎̎͑́́͝͝ͅ ̷̧̘͕̑̾Ţ̵̻͉̭͎̦͍̀͊̅́̐͝h̸͓͆̆̀͛̈́̀ē̷̘̪̍͒̿̂͐̍ ̶̛̟̱̗̞̮̽̋T̸͎̟͋̀͑͋͘͝ḫ̴͇̦̏̈r̶̭͋̆̓̔̋e̵͕̰̝̻̱̔͛̈́͐̈́a̴̧̟̰͛͘̕d̷̛̛̦̼.
Components strong enough to pulverize concrete fall from them like stuffing as the thread abruptly shifts with your 'pull'.
Lines are ripped from alloy, and flesh, and wire.
Material spools off, taken away by the breeze.
Sparks and fluids burst and explode from the exposed innards of the Starman's body as bits of it's reactor, and brain, and life support are ripped out.
"AWARGGHHHHHHHHHHHHHGGHGHGHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHH!!!"
Then the thread snaps.
In an instant, the world around you returns to normal.
[] Just...Play Some Baseball: You are beat to shit, but staying physically inactive for a whole month probably might do more harm then good. It's been a long time, but you could try gathering some kids for a game of baseball? Chances are it'll just be your siblings, and maybe not even that. But something low stakes would be nice after what happened in the forest.
DC: ???
[] Check Lier X. Agerate's Shack: You'll have to go up that godforsaken hill again, but you've noticed Lier's shack hasn't been lit for a while. Normally the lights in the window are visible at night. If he somehow managed to skip town, that would mean his house is empty. And with the Lockdown he won't be back that easily to check on it. Maybe a little casual snooping or breaking and entering are in order?
DC: 20/???
- Adventurous Spirit: Mr. B wants adventure and may even attract it without knowing. The fact he met you should be proof of that. Whenever Mr. B is assigned to an action that would take him somewhere unexpected, unusual, or far off he will received an additional random Personal action. These can be positive, or dangerous, but will always be opportunities of some kind.
- Potential: Anytime Mr. B would receive a stat increase, that stat is increased by an additional +1. After hitting a certain threshold for capability, this trait will be replaced with one of the players own choosing.
[] Kyoko: "Hmm? What are you up to CD? Do you need my help? There's always been plenty of gangs where I'm from, so I shouldn't be surprised you'd start your own. I suppppose I could come along for the ride, if you're running things then I'm sure it'll be fun!"
[] Mr. Baseball Cap Kid: "You've wanted this Mr. Baseball Cap for a while, right? Why don't you take it? It's perfect for someone brave like you. Huh you don't want it? You want me? Well I've always wanted to go on an adventure. I'd like to come with you, but…I don't know if I'm strong enough..."
"Broken windows theory is right I guess. And with the money the department will get sending them away it'll be easy to turn this town into something proper."
The street seemed to grow darker, the cop seemed to shrink totally unaware of what was coming, and the windows watched like glistening eyes-
"Window!"
Like a wrench jammed into gears spun out of control, every other thought stopped for Porky.
Without hesitating or thinking another thought, he did what had come naturally to him since he was five.
CRASH!
The rock Porky through shattered the window of a nearby house.
"WHO THE FUCK IS THERE!?"
In criminology, the broken windows theory states that visible signs of crime, antisocial behavior and civil disorder create an urban environment that encourages further crime and disorder, including serious crimes.[1] The theory suggests that policing methods that target minor crimes, such as vandalism, loitering, public drinking and fare evasion, help to create an atmosphere of order and lawfulness.
- The Outfielders have learned that the Sharks are gearing up for hostilities with the police and seem to have ambitions to greatly expand their control over the town.
- The Outfielders have learned that the Police intend on taking drastic actions and are looking for any provocation from the undesirable elements in town to use as justification for extreme measures.
- The Aliens attempted to kill a police officer near shark territory in the dead of night. ENEMY ACTION INTERUPTED DUE TO SMASH SUCCESS!
"Why...why me? No one ever asks me for anything."
You took a moment, before looking at Porky.
"I don't really know how to be subtle and I always thought you were really clever when I was little, Porky. If anyone can trick aliens it would be you."
Managing a small, weak smile Porky took one look at you and sighed.
There was a defeated air to him as he left, but not in the usual sense of the word.
It was like the worst part of Porky had just lost to himself.
+Porky's Opinion of CD has been raised!

DREAMER Trait Gained!
It's a noun-er, so that doesn't mean it functions in any capacity the same, but I expect we can hold some similarities.Dreamer: You have a certain knack for finding your way to, and in, the realms of thought and metaphor known as the Dreamlands. +3 Occult, +10 to rolls relating to the Dreamlands
+Item Gained!
Xterminator Spray: A potent insecticide no longer produced due to it's toxicity. Could be useful when dealing with pests. [One time +5 Martial bonus against Insect-like enemies. Usable in combat or with applicable checks
Porky has gained a personal ambition!
Personal Ambition: "Cool Stuff" - Porky has many material desires and fanciful ideas. Being able to gain these things or fulfil these desires will motivate him further and ensure his loyalty.
Rolling higher is better.
I will say any immediate negative consequences involving Dreams may be hard to spot.
But that doesn't mean they aren't there.
Find it kind funny how CD looks like Aubrey from omori, and now due to a accident that happened in the family (Even if the main cause of said accident is supernatural stuff) she's basically pulling a sunny and just spends time in this dream world to not have to deal with the stuff happening in the real world.
But that's also kind of extremely bad as last thing we need is for her to not want to leave that dream world. Or even worse to an extent, create her own conscious being in her dreams like Sunny did with omori.
hmm, does anyone think the Xterminator spray got thrown in a sewer as one of many bug-based sabotage actions? seems very petty of them but i don't see why not lol
That-!
Is...a very good question.
Let me check my notes. I'll get back to you on this!
Edit:
* Porky's Birthday is March 1st.
* And CD's Birthday is July 28th
Both of those days have symbolic significance of some kind, I'll leave you all to figure that out if you can!

best bet seems like using this 3-turn reprieve to get more magical know-how to get taken advantage less easily/get in a better headspace and less reliant on coping mechanisms, but will have to see if that's possible or not. there's some training actions we can take now, at least? That dreamer thing is very concerning to me, but... fuck, we don't have anything we can do about it, and it was a middling result, so lets just... hope that was okay.
for the first one at the moment we don't seem well-enough positioned to strike at an opportune target that'd lead to decapitating them sufficiently/powerful enough to tip the scales in our/the shark's favour enough, and even if we are everyone would probably still end up weak enough to be swept away by the bugs afterwards?I'm honestly wondering if it might be worth it to try and time an attack on the police alongside the Shark's attack, and try to knock them out before things can get really locked down, or if we should try and stop the Sharks before they can attack the cops and set things off in the first place.
Did a reread psyching myself up for the update dropping, hoping to find some nuggets that I'd missed prior... and welp!!
note I'd assume the sharks have more experience brawling than us? we're now on the level of "inexperienced delinquent" and they're all delinquents with plenty of experience, basically. plus one of their actions was titled "shark's teeth" or something and involved them upgrading their weapons, so we can expect them to be somewhat better armed than us? it probably varies from member to member, the real important thing is that they have more manpower than us so even if we're roughly even we'd lose out due to attrition (and that's ignoring frankystein)Great news! We're literally more armed than the sharks now!unless you count kick flip scooters as a non improvised bludgeoning device
Otherwise, I'm pretty confident that we can take The Sharks with Kyoko recruited and deployed to the action.
THE MAN being cass's dad is one idea, though i would have thought her dad was unrelated to that line/they would be closer to one of the minions. i guess we'll have to see?not that big a deal but I feel like it's interesting what we do know about her dad
the action for checking Lier X. Agerate's Shack is probs replaced entirely by the one for seizing control of the hill as part of the scope of some actions increasing now we have a faction. probably a good thing, since it means we can get that done while doing something tactically relevant too.The latter? I do wonder why it stopped being an option, maybe just to avoid choice overload.
fun point on window theory, i missed that the smash existed as a callback to the previous thing. that said, we know the OPF's pulling a lot of bull because that window wasn't even smashed in the first place, everything's totally fine.THE PAYOFF OF ME KNOWING ABOUT BROKEN WINDOW THEORY FROM INTRO TO CRIMINAL JUSTICE TO CHEERING FOR PORKY TO DO IT JNKAWEJNKAEJNK
sadly DREAMER probably isn't as good as in "shadow of the dragon", since it's yellow instead of green. lot of possible issues can come from it for sure...I'm curious what the Dreamer trait is, and if it mirrors to the Shadow of the Dragon: An 8-Bit Dystopia Quest 's similar trait
i disagree vehemently on having porky work with nook, that's worse than him betraying us for Giygas
that'd be pretty insightful if true but probably not, iirc it got discontinued the whole time due to how extreme it was lolor does "no longer produced" exist non-diegetically to imply that this is the only one we're gonna be able to get now
missed a "think" between 'don't' and 'Gygas'
healing for money increases suspicion, i think that would do the opposite of calm things down? and if trash is diplo that'd prevent other actions that may be more importantWe'll need to delay/stop the issue with the cops and sharks, Reduce the Negativity in the Oneet (Pick up trash/Healing for money), and keep an eye on the bugs/fight the local wildlife.
We could assign Kyoko to the healing action to reduce suspicion gain.healing for money increases suspicion, i think that would do the opposite of calm things down? and if trash is diplo that'd prevent other actions that may be more important
good point, so long as there's nothing more important to put Kyoko on/more important to do in stewardship i could see that working out? we'd have to see, reallyWe could assign Kyoko to the healing action to reduce suspicion gain.
