In terms of series to focus on, there's a few you could write for that would be relevant to this Quest if you're looking for direction:
Kid Icarus
Animal Crossing
Sonic
Shin Megami Tensei
River City
Metroid
Starfox
Megaman
As for characters specifically, why not Amy Rose? I think it'd be interesting to see what you feel she's doing in this setting. Alternatively, maybe you could write a vignette from the point of view of a MetaPharm Employee/M.B of why they stay out of the Eagle Quarter?
If you're trying to get back into writing after a dry spell though, I suggest reviewing your options and letting creativity pull you where it desires. I always love seeing what you all come up with <3
Haha, the biggest problem with following my brain is that I'm not even sure if my first impulse would be in the setting at all. I'll figure something out though, going to be busy over the weekend regardless. Spending new years with my boyfriend and girlfriend.
Frog, I just want to say that I feel you did a great job. This was a concise, but very satisfying Omake. The reference was cute by itself, but you sold the emotions the characters felt in your writing very well. Reading this, I felt there was genuine weight in the the reunion of two friends who'd clearly been separated by harsh circumstances and time. Thank you for posting this, I was smiling the whole way through. I hope you enjoy my drawing as much as I enjoyed your writing.
Going to be honest.... that picture of yours is so neat I consider it more than the EXP because it shows that at least to some extent I've inspired you in turn and thats someone I love to do.
Hmmm though on the quest in general I now have 2 wonders of my own.
1: Can we one day get a trait so Buzz Buzz isn't at first from death due to a random crit fail.
2: Are the save Frogs from Mother 3 a thing, they had to come from somewere.... who knows perhaps they are even watching us as we speak.
will butt in the first time on this quest with an idea on something possibly worth keeping an eye out for: buzz buzz already has experience piloting one of those saucers, so if we ever manage to loot/lift one of those they could probably just pilot it as-is and get a *hefty* survivability/other stat buff.
they'd also presumably be even more blatantly an alien and lose access to some tiny size intrigue bonuses when inside it but that sounds like an acceptable sacrifice, just paint something suitably rebellious on it and make sure to disable any transmitters/trackers and it'll be fine
whether this is what Crosswire is hinting at? who knows, but if I had to make a guess this sounds like the simplest answer
Buzz Buzz didn't know what to expect when CD decided on visiting a human named Brimstone of all things.
What he certainly didn't expect was for their home to be so covered in.... flowers of all.
Nothing creepy or horrible just flowers.
... Ok it wasn't physically covered in them but the place sure had a lot of them, far more than any other human home he'd seen up until this point.
Honestly he was actually happy for that fact. Stormy did not strike Buzz Buzz as a bad person but the sheer dread emanating from his home was disturbing on many, many, many levels for Buzz Buzz. If all of the people CD knew lived like that.... well Buzz Buzz would have even more reason to be concerned for his new friends state of being than he had already.... and he had quite a lot already with the invasion being a thing.
This place was at least on the surface in much better state than Stormy's home even if something did seem a little... weird about it.
Especially some of the planets.
"CD." Buzz Buzz asked as something finally began to click for him. "Some of these plants seem.... strange for this area."
"Brimstone gardens as his hobby." CD began as she looked around. "And his parents like to send him seeds as they travel for work, he's probably gotten some pretty strange plants over the years. No is concerned though cuz his parents are big on taking care of what little environment with have in this place so nothing here is at risk of causing chaos."
Strange was certainly a way to put it... or at least strange for plants when compared to the earth of old. While he did remember more than a few of the plants he'd seen from reports about the first invasion, others were clearly alien or mutated in nature. Just from looking at the ones he recalled being from old earth he could see Sword Flowers, Cacti, roses of different colors, sunflowers, egret orchids, daises, a lily of the vally, and even some tulips..... thought admittedly since he'd only read the names of the species the main reason he even know what half of these were was because Brimstone was kind enough to put the names of the flowers on their pots. The unknown planets among them species with names such as fire flower, piranha plant, ice flower, and some strange version of the sun flower that actually had eyes of all things on them... that one was helpfully titled 'sunflower' as if it didn't have a significant different from the base species.
"Don't worry to much about this if it's too strange for you." CD say she arrived at the front door... and then promptly walked along a path leading to the back of the house. "Delivering some extra seeds to Brimstone from week to week is just a chore of mine so if you want to stay away from now on it's that's fine. I mean I've been doing it weekly for a long time now. It's not like the streets have gotten that much worse."
"Its not that, this isn't unpleasent." Buzz Buzz thankfully didn't take long to regain his senses. "Its just.. well strange compaired to other human homes, I'll get used to it."
It helped that once again to Buzz Buzz the weirdness of this place was massivly favored over the dark atmoshpere of Stormy's, he was almost tempted to think the other humans home was some sort of font for the darkest creatures of the dreamlands to spill forth into an suspecting reality as opposed to any sort of normal human habitat.
"Hey Brimstone." CD look greented a human figure as Buzz Buzz too his chance to get a better look.
Brimstone was... differenty from stormy in many ways. He wore a similar dress shirt and pair of pants to Stormy but otherwise the two humans were like night and day. While Stormy's face was placid and apethetic yet hiding something more within, Brimstone wore the nerviuse energy he seemed to hold within his shockingly meek form on his face as plain as day. His eyes were bright blue lenses that transparetly reflected the unerved pain the human seemed to exude contrasting immensly with the other humans inky black abysses. Even the hair the two had was different with Brimstone's hair being a bright blond and hoasting a flower that..... had the two been standing together, would have contrasted immensly with Stormy's jet black.
.... This Brimstone and Stormy both knew CD? The two of them couldn't seem any more different from one another.
"H-h-hi CD." The boy almost seemed to shy back a little as CD approached but seemed to steel himself before returning to his original position. "S-s-stormy visitied me recently.... he had one of the old baseballs the two of you used to play with..... did you?"
He trailed off but CD seemed to understand the purpose of his question.
"Yeah...." She rubbed the back of her head. "I.... it's been a while since I last talked to him so I kind of defaulted to an old passtime."
"Thank you." Buzz Buzz took no small amount of notice at the... suprised that flashed over CD's face when Brimstone thanked her. "Stormy.... stormy hasn't left his home for years now.... I... I..... thank you for bringing him back into the world. I've missed him for so long"
"He's really not left his home for that long?" CD looked down. "How? I mean the younger kids in this place are pretty nosy... you'd think at least one of them would have annoyed him enough to make him come out or something.... not..... not let him rot in that place this entire time."
"CD." Brimstone let out a sigh. "Not many of us were very social to begin with and Stormy.... well he might not have been a bully or anything but a lot of the younger kids here are just flat out terrified on him.... he doesn't really doesn't' derserve to be feared like that though."
"I see." CD paused as if considering something. "But what you? You couldn't hurt a fly even by accident. I mean sure your tricks with those scissors could theoretically creep someone out but nobody ever sees them anyway?"
"They just think my hobby is weird."
"Oh." CD look to the side. "Listern.... Brimstone I know I've been pretty terrible to you since the incident.... I.... I uh.... wanted to say I'm sorry for all that.... I know it wo-"
"Apology accepted."
"What? Wait?" CD's attention was firmly back on Brimstone who for once seemed to hold a look of.... certainty on his face. "Just like that."
"Just like that." Brimstone crossed his arms. "I won't say things are just going to go back to old times, because to be blunt I'm still hurting a lot.... but I beleive that people who are putting the effort definitly deserve a second chance... and I want to beleive in you."
Buzz Buzz was kind of happy he was so naturally out of the way to most humans at the moment.
.... Because he was pretty sure if he was human sized right now this conversation would have turned very awkward if Brimstone had seen him and reminded CD that he was here.
[C.D] - 1 AP Action: Climb a Tree and Get the Drop on Them! Your Result:1d100 = 36 + 16 = 52 [SPORTY Trait in Effect] Baseball bat still slung across your back, you turn to face the tree you've been propped up against and begin to climb.
Even in the dark your fingers find their way using the grooves in the bark.
Your well worn sneakers pressing against any bump or indentation you can find.
Once you're able to grab branches, you begin ascending rapidly.
Old memories of climbing trees as alittle kidwith█̴̲̓█̷̛̙͍̐█̸̛̤͈̞͖̈̓́̚█̷͖̉͆͊█̴̫͔͂̀͜flood back to you amidst the silence rustling of leaves.
Buzz Buzz says nothing as you climb upwards. Flying up and past you, ascending into the cover of the tree canopy overhead.
Either he trusts you enough to know what you're doing, or he's planning something himself.
You get as high as you're able to.
Soon you're squatting on a thick branch with a good vantage point of the forest floor below and around you.
The leaves of the tree obscure you, but the moonlight and the heavy movements of your enemies give them away.
In the shadows of the forest you can see the Animated Lamp Posts approaching.
Their tall forms are about roughly 'head' height with the branch you're on.
Meanwhile the Starman JägeR marches behind them, the occasional red glow visible from it's visor.
Something about the moment of quiet and the soft sounds of the forest clear your head. Giving a moments reprieve from your racing heart and shortened breath. You think more clearly as you stare at the aliens.
"Metal bastard is playing is safe, staying behind his goons. He seems intent on keeping them in front of him while he blasts us with-"
In the middle of considering how best to drop down on the enemy, a thought springs to your mind.
You look around.
Noting the nearby branches.
How obscuring the leaves are.
How the trees will likely carry your voice.
How convenient the height of the Lamp Posts suddenly seems...
And you smirk. [C.D] - 1 AP Action: Antagonize the Starman into Attacking their Allies (Advantage due to climbing tree. Rolling twice, taking better result) 1d100 = 19 + 3 = 22 Your Result:1d100 = 77 +3 = 80 vs [Starman JR] - ENEMY REACTION: See Through Trick Enemy Opposition Result:
...VERY LOW
"Hey, JUNIOR!"
The Starman came to an abrupt halt as they heard a voice peel through the woods, reverbing off the trees.
"Why don't you turn your chromed ass around and fuck off back to space?"
Honing in on the direction of the voice, the Starman simply had to project it's thoughts to get the Lamps to begin moving. They marched in the direction of the voice, their metallic limbs outstretched in front of them as they began to push deeper into the brush.
"After all, didn't you all lose to a bunch of grade schoolers before this? How many of your alien buddies did a literal gang of children manage to kill. Hmm? What do you think is going to happen now that you're fighting a teenager?"
The Starman stopped at that.
Memories were recalled.
"What's with the silence? You seemed pretty talkative before."
Involuntarily recalled.
This was clearly some sort of distraction, or empty bravado.
The Starman didn't need to listen to this if he didn't want to. It didn't matter what they enemy said-
"Oh, are you getting some good ol' PTSD flashbacks? Thinking about the war? Of course, can you really call it a war when your great and powerful leader is the reason you lost it?"
Internal processors began warming up.
Organic components showed unnatural stress.
The Starman projected it's thoughts again, forcing the Animated Lamps to move forward with greater haste.
Caution was irrelevant.
They just needed to find the enemy and silence them. He would watch out for the Traitor.
They were the only real threat, the only thing the human could do was run. Like a coward-
"You have space ships, lasers, and psychic powers, and your leader calls a retreat over the pre-school squad?"
The Animated Lamps had begun gathering around a tree. Reaching up and blindly grabbing at one of it's higher branches.
"You're all pathetic. And that's coming from me."
But they weren't hitting anything. He projected his thoughts to have one of them move around to the side.
Something was clearly there. The Starman could hear it.
"I'm a loser. A fuck-up. A nobody. Outside of two people, everyone in town would probably be happy if I showed up dead one day."
He didn't want to hear it.
The glorified animal bleat disrupted the veteran. All he could think about was it's silence, it's painful destruction.
"And that's going to be the person you and crying INFANT of a leader are going to lose to."
Reactor power flared.
The Starman Jager's body began to shake.
The Lamps were still swiping blindly in the spot he KNEW the enemy was at.
Was he really going to have to dirty his hands with some pathetic human who couldn't even-
"You're going to die here, and I'm going to laugh over your mangled corpse."
"PK BEAM Ω!"
Striking the pose a spiraling ray erupted from the Starman's visor.
The brilliant orange beam cut through the brush.
Illuminating the forest, the sky, and everything along it's path for one blinding instant.
Through the branch the L̵̬̿̄O̶̢͒Ȕ̴̥D̷͙͍̂̌ ̸͉̮̾͛M̴͖͈̾O̷̭͘Ǔ̷͔́T̶̤͆͝H̷̞̍̄E̴̠͔͂D̴͍̂ ̴̮͎̎A̶̘͐N̸̯͂Ỉ̶̼M̶̻̈́A̵̛̝̺͐L̷͖͌̑ was seated on.
Through the tree behind it.
Through the mountains in the distance.
The truck sized blast rapidly narrowed the farther it went from it's point of origin.
Shrinking until it was the width of a length of thread before disappearing all together.
There was no fire.
No meaningful heat.
Everything the beam touched simply disintegrated.
Even the air itself, along the path of the beam, simply ceased to exist.
The abrupt filling of a small vacuum caused an abrupt 'BANG' to ring out.
Blowing back the leaves obscuring the forest in front of the Starman. Scattering a thick haze of dust into the air, the remains of all that which was hit by the beam.
Staring into the exposed section of the forest, moonlight lit the scene.
Both through the overhead canopy and the large hole bored clean through the forest.
The sound of falling trees filling the distance as they gazed forth, watching three of their Animated Lamp Posts topple over.
The upper halves of their 'bodies', everything about the 'shoulders' turned to dust. Their steel bodies scattering as they hit the ground.
...
He forgot to order them to move.
...
It didn't matter.
He got the silence he wanted. Now it was just him and the traitor. That human was-
"Hahahaha."
...
Right there.
Untouched.
Hanging from a nearby branch, the undeniable form of a human was visible. Barely a few feet from the spot his attack had destroyed.
The lamps had been so close, yet had been searching the wrong place.
...Or had the human moved? Was this deliberate? Was this-
"...YOU THINK I NEED THEM?"
The Starman's visor glowed as he looked upon the destroyed lamps.
"YOU THINK I NEED THESE DISCTRACTIONS TO KILL YOU?"
Red light filled the black of the visor as the Starman's gaze became locked onto the human. Watching her laugh at him under the light of the alien moon above.
"I'LL TEAR THE FLESH FROM YOUR FRAGILE FRAME AND MEMORIZE YOUR SCREAMS!"
The Starman swung out it's arms, splitting clean through two tree trunks he passed as he closed in.
He would settle this.
With his own limbs. [Buzz Buzz] - 1 AP Action: Try to Discern Weakness Your Result:1d100 = 26 + 10 = 36 The flash of orange, the sight of the 'old' technique with the 'old' moniker disrupted Buzz Buzz's thoughts.
It took everything he had not to fly down at the mere hint of it.
Seeing the light fade and hearing C.D's laughter amidst the falling dust provided relief, but no comfort. Especially as his train of thought crashed at the station.
There was no explicit weakness in the Starman's design.
That was the conclusion Buzz Buzz had come to.
Danger built every moment he hovered in thought and watched the scene in front of him unfold from the high canopy of the forest.
He wasn't sure if it was simply his biases from the war, from what he knew the Starmen could do, or if his memory was slipping. But he couldn't think of an express weakness.
Unlike some of Giygas's other forces, the Starman had no obvious weaknesses. It's design was meant for offence, but it was generalized. Strong in melee and with PSI.
PSI...
As the enraged Starman's synthesized voice boomed out, he noticed the heat rising from it's shiny, flawless body.
"There is a hard upward limit on how many powerful PSI abilities they can sling around." Buzz Buzz thought.
It was hardly an epiphany.
Every material being had a limit on how much PSI it could use before it hit a mental and physical limit.
But for all the Jager's power, it had no 'weak' PSI Techniques. Which meant... [Buzz Buzz] - 1 AP Action: Trick the Starman JägeR Your Result:1d100 = 59 +14 = 73 vs [Starman JR] - ENEMY REACTION: See Through Trick Enemy Opposition Result:Low Hanging from the tree branch, you stifle your laughter long enough to process the Starman moving into melee.
You can barely believe that worked.
Even though you don't fully understand what the Starman did, or what that power really was, just the sight of it left some part of your brain in a panic.
The dust floating through the air, the scent of wood and dust and death filling your nostrils...
If you had been a few feet closer, you have no doubt that you'd be dead.
Reaching one hand behind you as you gauge your distance to the ground, a voice abruptly screams out from above you.
"You're as easily fooled as you look!"
Ripping it's hateful red gaze from you, the Starman JR abruptly cranes it's head skywards.
"PSI FIRE Σ!"
You're forced to close your eyes for a second time as the entire forest canopy overhead is consumed by an instantaneous flash of reds and oranges.
A wave of heat and light washes over you, nearly burning the top of your hand as it hits.
Eyes cracking open, the previously dark forest is awash with heinous orange light.
Burning leaves fall in droves as the top of the forest above has all but been blown away. Burning intensely, flames gradually eating trees from the top down.
"I. AM. NOT. A. FOOL!"
The Starman glances around, it's extended whip-like limbs snapping at the air.
"YOUR BODY IS WEAK, TRAITOR. SO YOU'D OBVIOUSLY COME FROM ABOVE. NOW THAT I'VE BLOWN AWAY YOUR SHIELD, I CAN KILL YOU AND THIS ANIMAL IN JUST ONE MORE ATTACK!"
Slowly the red glowing gaze of the Starman turns towards you as it began it's furious march forward.
It's silvery metallic body reflecting the hellish oranges and reds from the flames above.
"No. That's precisely why you're a fool."
You and the Starman turn your heads at the same time to see Buzz Buzz.
Not flying down from the destruction above, but already close to the ground.
"You say you just need one more attack to finish us. I wonder if that's because you only have enough mental energy for one more PSI attack? My shield is still up, and even at it's weakest...I'm afraid one more PSI attack won't be enough."
"...You-!"
[The Starman JR has been tricked into wasting it's action!]
Letting go of the branch you hit the ground and draw your bet, staring down the Starman.
The odds are even now.
With all three of the Animated Lamp Posts dead, it was just you, Buzz Buzz and- [ANIMATED LAMP POST] - ENEMY ACTION: Attack Enemy Roll: Very High vs [C.D] - Reaction: Defense
C.D's Defensive Roll: 1d100 = 4 + 16 = 20 Four.
There were four animated lamp posts.
You remember that only after the last remaining Lamp Post, the one you had taken the arm from previous, racks it's remaining claw hand clean through your side.
You're hurled backwards from the force of the blow and slam into the side of a tree.
"AGHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHH-!"
The scream peels from your mouth as blood erupts from the gaping slashes through your skin, painting the point of impact red.
Fighting for breath you barely manage to stay upright as blood pours down your side, staining your damaged jacket and soaking into your shorts.
Squeezing your bat with a shaking hand, you see the last Animated Lamp Post lumbering forth. The Starman following suit, closing in on you.
You succeeded.
You tricked him into killing most of his allies, and Buzz Buzz forced him to waste his time.
But the fight wasn't over.
Not by a long shot.
-ROUND 3 CHOICES- PLAYER PARTY
C.D [2 AP] - Moderately Injured
[] Use Lifeup α To Heal Your Wounds(1 Action): You were hit hard. You're bleeding badly. It shouldn't effect your performance for now, given how fast this fight has already been, but it'll be hard taking more hits like that with your side open. Taking a moment to heal might make a difference, but if your healing isn't strong enough it might be better off just throwing yourself at the enemy.
[] AttackStarman JägeR! (1 Action): Whatever living, feeling bits are left inside that chrome shell hate you. The Starman is done playing and is rushing into melee. This will make it that much easier to hit him head on. It's time to see how much damage you can do to this thing.
[] Attack the Lamppost! (1 Action): Lamps. Why is it ALWAYS fucking lamps? It got the drop on you. You didn't see the Starman had ordered it off to the side when the others were blasted. It slashed open your side as revenge for it's arm. Well, it's the last one standing. Time to put it down for good, make this a two on one fight!
[] Put Distance Between You and One of the Enemies(1 Action): With both the Starman and the Lamp Post bearing down on you, it might be best to run. You're bleeding, but you can hopefully put enough trees between at least one of them to make sure only one of them can attack you.
[] Use the Burning Forest to your Advantage (1 Action): It's no longer dark and the the tops of the trees are burning. You're safe for now, the smoke is rising. But with everything burning there's a chance you can use that to your advantage. A flaming stick to the face, or knocking over a burning tree? The only thing fire doesn't scare is idiots.
[] Find Weakness (1 Action): Buzz Buzz seems to be drawing a blank, but a different perspective could make all the difference. If you think fast and hard enough, you could find something to exploit. Something to make fighting one or more of your enemies that much easier.
[] Find Something of Use (1 Action): It's no longer dark and a lot of obscuring brush has been blown away. While it's desperate to scrounge when enemies are baring down on you
[] Use Lifeup α to fight aggressively (1 Action): You're fucked up. The aliens are coming right at you. If you just heal and hit, you'll likely get fucked up even more. Spamming your healing and hurling yourself at them, fighting aggressively, could give you the advantage. You won't heal your current injuries, but you'll hopefully mitigate any new ones and let you do more damage to the enemies in front of you. (Using this action successfully in combination with an offensive action may increase its effectiveness or mitigate failure.)
[] Breath Deep, Reach Deep…and Attack!(2 Actions): You're bleeding, your head hurts, and the forest is burning around you. In the depths of your mind you still feel that 'tingle'. That knowledge you're on the cusp of a new PSI technique. A destructive power. If you concentrate, reach deep, maybe you can unleash that power onto all of the approaching enemies coming at you.
[] Attempt to Flee (2 Actions): You can try to run, maybe even with your allies. . Hopefully they can't follow you. Note: This action may have negative consequences.
Buzz-Buzz [2 AP]
[] Renew PSI Shield Σ (2 Actions): The Starman's PP is all but drained, but he likely has another last bout left in them before they're properly exhausted. Your shield is still up, and might be able to take whatever comes at it, but can you risk that?
[] Attack theStarman JägeR! (1 Action): The Starman is moving into melee with C.D. It might have brute strength, but you have speed. By focusing your PSI energy into your body, you can hit it with the force of a bullet in all the worst places. It's time to show this 'veteran' that you didn't turncoat without the skills to back it up.
[] Attack the Lamp Post (1 Action): You underestimated the construct, and failed to see it had escaped the Starman's attack. C.D's blood covers it's talon like digits. Using your PSI energy, you can amplify your abilities and slam into it's rickety metal body with enough force to punch holes in it. Time to put it down.
[] Try to Knock Burning Debris Onto Enemies (1 Action): The Starman is likely long since wised up to your tricks, but maybe you can try again? Hitting the burning branches and damaged trees above could send some nasty things tumbling down onto the Starman and the remaining Lamp Post. Of course, if you miss, you could also hit C.D, or spread the fire otherwise contained over your heads to the forest below.
[] Feign Surrender to gain an advantage (1 Action): The Starman is properly fueled by anger. Their attention is on C.D, but feigning surrender and offering an easy kill could distract it. Allowing you, or C.D, to get the best of it. However doing so would ensure neither of you would receive mercy from it should you lose this fight. Of course, with how angry it is, there's no guarantee it'd even list. Or that you'd receive mercy even if you wanted to surrender.
[] Help C.D Defend Themselves(1 Action): You can't exactly body-block attacks, but you could call out potential incoming threats and shout actions for C.D to take. You're not used to giving instructions, and C.D might not be able to listen with everything going on. But if things work out it would be much harder for the enemies to land hits on C.D.
ENEMIES
Starman JägeR
- PSI abilities seem largely exhausted.
Animated Lamp Post x3
- Destroyed by the Starman's own attack.
Animated Lamp Post x1
- One lamp post left. The one whose arm you smashed off. It's offensive capabilities are reduced, but not gone.
1. BB shield us again, we go for the lamp and then the Starman?
2. BB shield us again, go for the Starman immediately and then, if it doesn't go back to being inanimate, go for the lamp?
3. One of the above, but instead of attacking the second target, we choose to heal ourselves?
3. C.D and BB go for the Starman and the lamp respectively, or the reverse?
4. Any of the above, but we heal ourselves first?
5. BB shield us and we go for our big fuckoff doom ray.
Personally, I like the sounds of 1, 2, and 5, but I'm open to other options.
Well, I don't know if we'll have a consensus here, but l'd say this turn went decently well?
CD is injured, which is obviously not good, but nearly all of the fodder is done for, with the only one remaining lamppost being injured, and Junior can't really take us out using what might be his last PSI attack before he exhausts his PP, though he might still try to mess with terrain. Now, problem is, he is still a threat even without PSI, and both he and lamppost are moving in on Cass. Question is, should we counter this with an all-out offensive of our own, or have CD go on a defensive while Buzz-Buzz shows off his PSI Warrior trait?
[] Plan: Plan A
-[] CD:
--[] Attack the Starman JägeR
--[] Use Lifeup α to fight aggressively
-[] Buzz-Buzz:
--[] Attack the Starman JägeR
--[] Attack the Lamp Post
[] Plan: Plan B
-[] CD:
--[] Use Lifeup α To Heal Your Wounds
--[] Put Distance Between You and One of the Enemies
-[] Buzz-Buzz:
--[] Attack the Lamp Post
--[] Help C.D Defend Themselves
Main idea behind Plan A is to go on an all-out offensive, no real explanation needed. As for Plan B, Cass goes on a defensive, while Buzz-Buzz tries to take out lamppost and helps CD to not take any more injuries than she already did. I am more in favor of Plan A, but maybe someone else can make a plan that is better than either of those plans.
I say heal and see what buzz buzz to do however let's take out the remaining minion instead since we won't have to worry about him getting reinforcements I hope.
Alright, alright, this is looking good! Good shot on the idea of using the trees as well, that Advantage roll helped us massively.
Minus the gash in our side of course. That's less good. But hey, we were going to roll low eventually, and we're not dead!
Anyway, I'm thinking now that we probably want to prioritise Lifeup use over the use of PSI Punk. We've just gotten a neat reminder on how PP is a thing, and blowing our points on a big attack is what Junior here has been doing, and it's probably not the best idea when we're already injured.
I say we use lifeup to fight Jaeger agressively, and have buzz buzz target the Lamp and Jaeger - The lamp needs to die, and Buzz Buzz's PSI warrior trait gives him way better martial than C.D. has at the moment, so he's far more likely to remove the lamp from the equation. At which point, we can probably equate Jaegers death to the 'Don't stop me now' scene from Shawn of the Dead.
Alright, I am of two opinions here. Either we hold back on the Psi completely to keep it hidden just in case, or we go all out. I don't think any middle ground is really worth it at the moment, but I'll think more on this and look at it in the morning, not right before O sleep.
I was worried that the actual result would be four haha, that would have been way more serious. (doesn't help that technically we *rolled* four either). should be able to deal with a 20/moderate injury.
right now we have the advantage in a prolonged fight so it might be wise to do actions that stall things out (renew shield, get out the way, etc), however two problems come to mind that might be worth noting.
if CD heals, that'll lower their PSI and make it harder to pull off our "destructive power", and we'll probably need to do that eventually, so this is a good opportunity for some in-action self-discovery
the starman might be doing something pretty obnoxious right now. if they can't use PSI effectively they may be keeping some in the tank for now and are probably getting ready for a physical attack, which we definitely need some form of answer to
don't have a plan yet but hope these thoughts help anyone coming up with one RN : )
Breath Deep, Reach Deep…and Attack!(2 Actions): You're bleeding, your head hurts, and the forest is burning around you. In the depths of your mind you still feel that 'tingle'. That knowledge you're on the cusp of a new PSI technique. A destructive power. If you concentrate, reach deep, maybe you can unleash that power onto all of the approaching enemies coming at you.
I think that's a context clue that the option is more likely to succeed than it might have been before, like how the diplomacy take surrender option seems less likely to succeed now.
So I might actually swing for this action, and having bb try to help us while also taking out the remaining lamp.
I believe our psi was called out earlier as being drawn out by danger. Being face-to-face with our opponents might not be the best time to use it or it might be the perfect time to use it. I think we could probably handle it just as well using lifeup on ourselves and then fighting but I really want to see CD use her special.
I feel this may be the perfect opportunity to attempt Psi Punk. If we allow Buzz-Buzz to distract the Starman, we can have the opportunity to prepare the move, and then unleash it. Seems like a good idea to me, and the shield can likely at least partially protect against one more Psi attack.
While it's not immediately relevant, we should make note of the fact that no matter how the rest of this fight goes, people are going to notice something happened. You dont just fire giant lasers through mountains and light half the forest on fire and brush it under the rug. This is both good and bad I think. On the one hand, we'll have an easier time convincing people aliens are invading when the time comes, but on the other hand it might make captain strong decide its time to buy bigger nightsticks.
Regarding the current situation, I'm inclined to say cd heals and plays defense while bb attacks, but I'm down for whatever.
[X] Plan: Punk Rock
-[X] C.D: Breath Deep, Reach Deep…and Attack!
-[X] Buzz Buzz: Attack the Lamp Post
-[X] Buzz Buzz: Help C.D Defend Themselves
Given everything said above, I think this is probably a decent strategy - Buzz Buzz provides covering fire and defense support; while Cass builds up for her PSI move. This is the perfect time for an ace up our sleeve like a PK Rockin' equivalent to come out - so if we're lucky, this should work. In most other situations, I'd suggest trying to whittle him down with Lifeup; but the faster and more decisively we take Jager down, the better in my opinion.
