If she turns up at some point I'd like to adopt USS Laffey. Care package includes a Patriots Point sweatshirt, a gallon of sweet tea, and a box of Fresh Market chocolate chunk cookies.

Edit: wait this is a shipgirl, make that 6 boxes of cookies and two gallons.

So... a bit off topic but I'm going to Hawaii in 2 weeks for Spring Break and Im wondering what the best path is for Pearl Harbor. I know it takes a full day I'm just wondering where to go when to maximize my time at each spot. And yes, I know someone works at the Iowa, not the Mo.

Do Bowfin first, if you can handle claustrophobic spaces. Then there's a headphone tour along the shore. Do that next. To get to both there's a gate and ticket booth to get in. Before you head back out get something at the gift shop. Next secure a ride across harbor to the Arizona Memorial. They have on going out like every 30-45 minutes or so. Take whatever time you need over there. Once you're done with Arizona, you'll need to get back across the water and around over the Ford Island Bridge to get to Missouri. When you round the corner and see her don't stare too long at the height because there's a lot people there. But find a place to park and there's several different tours you can take. I took the guided tour in the engine room but you can also wonder around as well. Each thing will take several hours so I'd split each up and do one a day. The last thing you should tour is the Pacific Aviation Museum. They are amazing tour guides and amazing aircraft. They even have a simulator in there. If you also want to explore the island I can't help you much there but downtown Honolulu is a great place for shopping and food.

Thanks man. My family will probably just drop me off for the day

Isn't the National Park Service in charge of visitation to the Utah? I could have sworn I saw a documentary about Utah and the NPS were the ones keeping most people away from the site.

If its on a military installation it can still be a secured sight, the base just has to make all reasonable attempts to allow civilians access. Much like with Ft. Barancas here in Pensacola

If I recall correctly, Utah's memorial is in a secure area. A person would have to have a military ID to get to it.

It should be possible to get a pass to visit the memorial if it's anything like the US Navy Museum in DC. My wife and I visited it while there and even though we both have military ID, the gate guards can issue passes for non-ID holders to go see the museum. If nothing else, you can ask at the gate and they'll let you know if it's allowed or not.

Better would be to inquire in advance. The Navy Museum, and the National Museum of the Air Force Restoration Hangar (formerly the Experimental and Presidential Gallery, formerly formerly the Museum Annex on the operational side of Wright-Patterson AFB) are designated museums that are considered "tourist destination" type sites, so they expect that sort of request on a routine basis. Asking about Utah might be a bit different and the gate guards might not be prepared for the question. (Entertaining note: The first couple of times I visited the NMotUSAF, back in the 80s, the Museum Annex was open to the public only by taking an Air Force shuttle bus across to it and back. When I visited again in the late 90s, access was by getting a vehicle pass at the main museum and putting it in your car's windshield for the gate guard to wave you through. Last time I visited, in 2010, it was back to having to ride Air Force shuttle busses to access it...)

I'll note that the odds are rather low, as all current information states that the Utah memorial is not on the bus tour route (as it is close to base housing, raising both security and noise concerns) and not open to visits by those without military ID or an escort by someone with military ID, but if you contact the Navy (best bet for first point of contact: the Pearl Harbor Naval Station's Public Affairs Office) far enough in advance, you might be able to make some sort of arrangement to visit it.

I used to live in P-cola when Dad was stationed there...fun times running through the old coastal fortifications. When I visited the Naval Air Museum last year pretty much to get on base all you needed was your driver's license. Visiting the Seabees museum in Gulfport, however, required the full background check and all the associated paperwork to gain access.

With apologies to @Skywalker_T-65 I am now leaving his territory behind and traveling back to my own which is Canada and parts of the Eastern Seaboard.

Legends: Chapter 2

Tegran stood firmly at attention as she faced Admiral Holloway. In the months following Dauntless' sinking, she had been assigned to the kanmusu base at Portsmouth as the Admiral's XO. It was a title that afforded her instant respect from the shipgirls but it was her actions that had earned her their love. Which is why this meeting was going to be so hard.

"I'm reassigning you to our North American station at Halifax." Holloway said. "Our Canadian countrymen are only just beginning to receive kanmusu of their own and no one on either side of the pond can match your experience. If you can, offer your assistance to the Americans as well."

"You believe they can summon kanmusu of their own sir?" She asked.

"I hope they can. This whole nation does. We just might need, no we will need their kanmusu to save our skins a third time." He said.

"I'll do my best sir." She promised.

"Transportation has been secured, and since we all know of your dislike for airplanes you'll be sailing to Halifax on the Queen Mary 2."

"Yes sir. Thank you sir."

He handed her a packet. "She leaves tonight. I suggest you go and back your things."

"Aye sir."

.........................................

Tegran leaned against the rail, allowing her upper body to lean forward into the wind passage generated by the Queen Mary 2's movements. The salty breeze stung her cheeks and made her her hair clump and knot together in large strands that would be a nightmare to brush out later. But she didn't care. This was the open ocean, this was her home.

She didn't hear anyone approach but that didn't matter. She sensed the girl behind her and sighed. "Are we alone?" She asked quietly but she knew the other girl could her her just fine.

"It we weren't would I be here?"

Tegran turned around, still leaning back against the railing and faced the kanmusu. Since the appearance of shipgirls, captains and crews had been quick to catch on and subsequently see their own ship's spirits. It was quite the interesting experience. Amusing too sometimes. Tegran had been there when Captain Osprey had seen his girl for the first time. The memory still brought forth a smile. Not right now though.

"What do you want Mary?" She sighed.

The ship's kanmusu stood beside her. "To talk."

"No, you're going to ask me, again." Tegran shifted her position so she was leaning on the railing with just one hand. "And my answer is going to be no, again!" She started to walk away.

"How long are you going to live in denial Tegran Sheera? Or should I say Tiffany Andrews." Mary smirked as Tegran stiffened and whirled around to glare at her, her green eyes ablaze.

"That was a long time ago!" Tegran hissed. "Long before your namesake even sailed. So why should you care?"

"Because it's who you are. And no amount of name changing can hide that." Mary replied. "No matter how hard you try to forget."

"You think I can forget?" Tegran asked. "Not a day goes by I don't think about that night. That I don't dream about it. It's always with me. Even if my true self isn't."

"You can't hide the truth forever, Tegran. Because one day, this war is going to bring it out of you. One day, you're going to have to fight."

Tegran paused. "I've fought well enough as a human, thank you." And with that, she twirled on her heel and left, shoving past Mary who mostly stepped aside. Her 150000 tons was an easy match for Tegran's 45000 but she had no desire to stop the stubborn redhead. Tegran couldn't be reasoned with anyways in her current fuming state. As Tegran stormed off to her room Mary watched her with eyes that only a kanmusu could have. She would deny anyone watching that she was staring at the Commander's well refined stern but Tegran had lovely lines and Mary had eyes. It was that simple. If only other matters would go down as easily.

Sounds like Titanic may be one of the oldest ship girls on record. She could probably write a book on how to help larger shipgirls know how to "girl".

An idea of something I very can much see shipgirls doing: Aggressive Cuddling.

What is aggressive cuddling? Well it's not all that different from normal cuddling until a shipgirls significant other tries to get up. The shipgirl, if she is engaging in aggressive cuddling, will attempt to keep their significant other in a cuddle position. This can range from being as mild the girl simply grabbing hold of the arm/shirt, locking their arms around their significant other in an embrace, and even up to being tied down by mooring lines like Gulliver by her fairies.

This really isn't, in my opinion, outside the realm of possibility, especially with that last one. We have seen a shipgirl's fairies act on their own before like when one of Alaska's fairies used signal flags to Cameron to spell out the message 'Kiss her'.... Or when Sara's fairies harpooned Stewart's ear to drag him back down to her. Honestly, if a shipgirl's fairies have been shown to go that far to keep the girl's significant other close by, then being tied down like Gulliver is also likely. Though in that case, it would most like likely end up with the shipgirl's significant other being tied to them.
