I remember in Harry's story in Wanko's introduction chapter, she hinted that the American fleet carriers were holding the line on the other side, and that they were the main thing keeping even worse things from coming through. The abyssals that showed up after the initial big invasion are just the little things that managed to slip by.

Pretty sure that I never said that in my fic... which is different from this one as a number of USN Fleet Carriers and others have shown up.

While some more air support from America would be great, I think the only carriers we might get in BelaBat from now on would be Ise and Hyuga, after seeing them serving with the other older battleships for a while, until they get their refits to be hybrids.

St. Lo's around, as are other CVEs. But CVEs mostly do their own thing, and don't usually sail with the battle line.

Must've missed em. But based on what you said, I guess they wouldn't be mentioned often. Maybe I need to build a team line-up.

Edit: Ok, went back and found St. Lo in the Cmdr Date omakes.

Davey Jones: *while every carrier in the US Navy is Ten-Go'ing the crap out of him* GODAMMIT, I SAID THEY AREN'T WORTHY! LEAVE ME ALONE ALREADY!
I'm imagining Davy Jones with a broom trying to beat them back.

Don't forget about CV-2 Lexington, as she was also originally a CC, and if she knows that her sister made it back, she's not going to sit around. I could also see the OP bringing in Langley to spite us. Ise and Hyugaa are worse CVs than Shinano, so it's probably better to just leave them as BBs.

i think Indiana would be a good battleship to be brought back. she would be angry after what happened to her captain, and determined to erase the stain on what happened to her. (she might be slightly irradiated from what she carried, but nothing too extreme.)

You seem to be mixing up ships. It was USS Indianapolis, a Portland-class heavy cruiser, you're thinking about.

Edit: Corrected a typo in the ship's name.

I liked this update, showing how the different types of girls respond to air travel. You sometimes have to feel so bad for Shinano. She's a heck of a fighter, but so, so shy with such low self esteem.

Hopefully, she Can work through some of her issues before war's end. Otherwise:

Jersey drags Shinano over to meet the newly returned Enterprise.
Jersey: Enterprise, I'd like you to meet one of my friends.
Enterprise: (puts out her hand) Shinano, the hero of Japan, its an honor to meet you.
Shinano: (can't speak, can't move, finally opens her mouth and promptly throws up on Big E's shoes. Immediately runs away to hide behind Arizona)

"Hey, what the hell!? Get off of me!"
Shinano: (now terrified) Oh! Sorry, Aunt Pennsy! I thought you were Mama Ari!"
Pennsy: Well she's over there. What are you doing, anyway? Hiding from Enterprise?
Shinano: (still behind Pennsy) Mm-hmm
Pennsy: Ok, I'll take you to Ari, if for no other reason, that was a beautiful shot on her. (Chuckles) Its been 70 years since I saw Enterprise in a situation where she didn't look in total control. And don't call me Aunt!
Shinano: Sorry Aunt Pennsy.
I can see Pennsy being the gruff Aunt when she finally accepts that the cuteness of Japanese ships must overwhelm all resistance eventually. :D

Ever since I had began reading this fic (and the comments people make between the chapters), this one thought has always hung over me.

If demon ships from hell exist, if ships-who-are-also-girls exist, and if the old gods of the sea exist; then what else exists?

One has to realize that if the old gods of the sea exist, then there is a high chance that other gods exist as well.

I'd imagine that ever since the abyssal war started, everything related to the paranormal (mainly people being dismissive of it) would've likely been given a second look over and any reports of supposed paranormal events would be taken a lot more seriously.

But now one must wonder, is the abyssal war (and the appearance of shipgirls) a thing which will see the supernatural spirits incarnate disappear (or become fully human) after said war is over or is it only marking the begining of a cycle in which the supernatural returns to the world once more. (Basically, magic comes back to the world with the things and feats only seen in myth and legend become possible again.)

Jersey: Magic isn't real. Goddam new-age hippy freaks....

I dont know if it was on SV or SB, but i think there was an omake where Jintsuu killed some child hunting demon from Japanese mythology.
