Yeah I only use Testors because I still have the first paint I got. But I detest Enamel. Too thick and shows. Every. Stroke. I love Tamiya's bottles because I can flip it over and back, open it up, and use the paint off the cap. Much cleaner.

I love enamels. Though that may be because I almost entirely airbrush.

Was browsing around, and found what is quite possibly the best murderball pic that I've ever seen.

AL Charles Ausburne:

for the historical minded readers, there's also the "Little Beavers" here リトル・ビーバーズ!
Aulick, Charles Ausburne, Foote, Spence and Thatcher.

To the other discussion, I spent ~15 years playing Warhammer, and got pretty decent at painting the figs. GW paints are a rip off, Vellejo was such a wonderful thing to discover.

There is a very intense and battle-scarred Fubuki image I have seen around that was created to look like an authentic WW2 era photo that wins my personal award for the most realistic battle-veteran image of a shipgirl. When I get back to the truck I'll crank up the laptop and look for it.

Awesome! Though I avoid Memphis like the plague...

I used to live in Memphis back in the 80s...and it definitely has become a shithole since then...
That being said I usually day trip it when I go, and only to certain places. Mid South hobbies is in a little shopping center between Summer Ave and White Station near 240...

Didn't find any battle damaged Bucki....found these though...

also found this while doing some research...

Yams, Nagamom, and Dess Boat with Escorts at Samar...

and a baby pic...

I'm more than a little irritated that I cannot find that image of Fubuki using google searches. I'm certain I saw it in the Kancolle thread, either here or on SB. Guess I'll go scan those threads from 2 years ago until about a year ago, see if I can find it.

Compare Texas when she was refit to when she was built (or Ari for that matter). At the time, the USN thought proper bridges weren't worth the weight/effort. So you only have the conning tower and maybe some fabric in the back.

A conning tower is not a bridge and vice-versa.

Actually the elimination of most of the bridges was due to the Great White Fleet and battle practice. Officers would refuse to go into the conning tower during combat practice because they preferred to stay on the bridge. So the Navy went 'FINE, we're taking away all your bridges... GET IN THE DAMN TOWER!' or words to those effect.

Possibly one of the events leading to this was from the Battle of Santiago in Cuba. A shell struck the battleship Texas and sprayed shrapnel and splinters across the bridge. The captain, John Phillips, ordered the other officers to more heavily armored parts of the ship (like the conning tower, which had 12 inches of armor) but he stayed on the bridge so the crew could see him.

If there was ever an off-chance that BelBat became an anime, I can't imagine any seiyuu voicing Jersey other than Miyuki Sawashiro.

Actually finally saw some of the show. That introduction was one of my favorite scenes.
Mine too...I have it as a ringtone on my phone. I loved how as the Kongos introduced themselves they had silhouettes of their ship selves in the background. And they didn't just use a generic Kongo-class shape for all four; each one was different, just like each of the ships was different. Glad they paid attention to that. I sincerely hope 2018 brings Season 2, as the movie was a bit too serious for me. Kongo just wasn't Kongo in the movie.
