Mo is also completely outnumbered here. An Iowa verses a Bismarck in a one on one fight? Iowa would win easily. One Iowa verses Bismarck,Tirpitz, and two H-class battleships? Odds arn't in Mo's favour.
a ship only goes so far. the crew is the heart and soul of a ship. i am sure a good, well trained crew can face these numbers and if not kill, cripple all their enemies. she might be sunk, or crippled, but The Abyssals will remember Missouri and her guns that spoke with Deaths Voice.

It's (in ascending order of size) two Bismarck-class ships, three large battleships of unknown type, and two bigger battleships of an unknown but different type.

: Who knows maybe the battle could cause Mama Utah to appear and help Mo drive the Bastards back or send em to the bottom. I mean... if things look bad and all the people still on the Island ask/pray for a savior she'll be the one to answer the call ... totally not just me wanting to see battleship momboat come back to kick ass and protect her daughter

Would really love to see Utah coming out of the channel to run to the aid of Missouri, but hopefully she is able to bring along at least Oklahoma, because her 14"s would lend some support to Utah's 12"s

Much as I like Mombote and Okie, neither of them got the modifications that made Standards (and Utah predates not only the standards, not only Texas, but Wyoming) so deadly.

Well, Utah is more sentimental than anything else, being a Pearl Harbor victim coming back to defend it against a second attack. The Nevada class is not that far behind the Pennsylvania class and was a little bit of a jump ahead from the New York class.

Now, as far as usefulness goes, I said it in another reply, a half dozen Essex class carriers would be more useful than any battleship. But that won't happen in this story.

So hopefully whoever shows up won't be alone. Whether it is a Pearl Harbor battleship, or Wisconsin, or anyone in between, they won't last much longer than just Mo in this lopsided of a fight.

I'm wondering why no black projects have come out to play. The US alone spends about 60bn a year on secret military crap, putting something with no comparison to full production wouldn't be the most difficult thing possible. Also, considering the war going as it has, the LRASM getting fast tracked wouldn't be unsurprising, and putting eight or so on a very large drone is a thing that wouldn't be surprising.

I'm trying to remember if Arizona's turrets were ever actually placed as Hawaiian shore batteries, and if so, what is their status?

Look, realistically thanks to soft factors such as GFCS and the absurd goodness that is the Mark 8, the only way a German-based taskforce can "win" against Mo is ton run her out of ammo.

But spooky Abyssal bullshit, so we all know What's gonna happen.
Mo is also worn out, both from being afloat for 70+ years, but also running constant patrols. Even if bote magic rejuvenated her, the constant sailing would wear a ship down. Not to mention UNREP.

A couple of them were. Dunno if they're still there, and they certainly aren't in commission anymore. Lex and Sara's 8-inchers were also set up as shore batteries, but they've almost certainly long-since been scrapped.

Arizona's guns were used as shore batteries but were scrapped at some point.

One of the other battleships got some too. I forget which. One sec.

Yes. Also, the majority of what's left of Ari is on Waipio Peninsula, about a mile south of Ford Island. It's where the Navy took what was still above water when they were designing the memorial.
What is left of Arizona, besides the main wreck? What happened to her masts and smokestack?

You're not aware of how stupidly good an Iowa's GFCS is, are you? The odds are actually in her favor right now.
Yeah, with her FC advantage, she can just rain down 16" shells on them until she runs out, and trying to soak up 16" shells is not a good strategy. However, that's assuming she can keep them at range... when she has to defend a fixed target.

Mo is still just one ship against seven (plus escorts). And granted, they're Abyssals and bloodlust blinded, but that just means they'll be fighting more like animals than actually attempting sound naval tactics.

They'll be unpredictable, and as every adventurer knows: "You fight against enough goblins and kobolds and eventually one of them is going to roll triple natural 20's..."

Five enemy battleships vs Missouri is tough odds. Even with superior fire control, she can't suppress all of the enemy simultaneously. There will always be at least one possibly two that are shooting at her while she is shooting at the others.

Mo also has to protect the harbour, dry-docks and such. If the abyssals split up, with one group holding down Mo and the other wrecking pearl, than things could go very poorly.
