That... that was... one hell of an emotional coaster ride. Right in the feels. That was a masterpiece Old iron. Well done.

Pennsylvania really needs either the rest of her sisters to return or a good counselor to help her with her PTSD and survivors guilt.
I actually favor the second approach over the first because both Arizona and Pennsylvania need help.
The best thing Richardson can do for them in my opinion is send them both to the base medical center for psychological evaluation nd help.

Oh God, That hit me right in the Feels. Poor, Poor Ari. Poor Pennsy.

We need cutes! This corgi will drown in a sea of Feels otherwise!

But yes those two have... a lot of things to sort out... Jane give them strength to overcome this.

:( Like I thought when she first snapped. Pennsy's broken. When the visions and dreams have hit the waking eyes, it's bad. Right now, Pennsy is breaking even further by trying to keep up the (to her) facade of ceasefire and all that. She needs to be transferred, preferably to the Gulf with Texas, right now. If not now, Richardson will have to do so when she finally snaps completely from the mental stress.

I'm not sure if transferring her all the way around the world would necessarily work. And even if it did, there are Japanese girls there too. If you want to get her entirely away from anything at all Japanese...

Britain is really the only option. Dunno how she'd react to Germans or Italians. Enemies but not the same visceral reaction.

(it would arguably be easier to send her to Aussie land if you really really want to get her away quickly. Even then, Haruna is still there for now)

Swap her and Haruna then. Haruna comes back and Pennsy goes somewhere she can mentally unwind. Pennsy and Tiger can bond over 'how to overcome watching our sisters die in front of us'.

Actually right now Tiger is probably the only person that really understands what Pennsy is going through and would be a damn good person to talk to her.

Now that we're on the next page, I will say that was a hell of a scene to help get right. PTSD is a hard subject to portray, and while me and Iron didn't do an amazing job, it seems to have done well enough.

Even though the story is still in 2016. When it finally reaches the summer of 2017, someone, anyone Please for the Love of SecNav. Introduce Pennsy to this song from RWBY (I'm fairly certain the show exists in the BelBat verse)

Its not gonna be fix all. No singular thing will be, but who knows, maybe it'll help Poor Pennsy if she's still struggling... or on the verge of relapse at that point in time. I dunno, Music can have that kind of effect on people sometimes.

Just find Something, anything to help the poor Standard in some kind of way.

On that note...what other ships do we have around that have seen that?

Littorio saw Roma go boom, but that was a delayed thing.

Tiger saw Queen Mary go boom as quick as Ari did- albeit in a battle.

...I can't think of any others.
Prince of Wales might feel somewhat similar. Hood wasn't her sister, but for a newborn battleship so wet behind the ears she still had her dockhands aboard, spending her first patrol with the Royal Navy Battleship had to be a bonding experience.

And with Tiger it wasn't just Queen Mary, it was watching Indefatigable and Invincible go boom too. (And almost Lion as well.)

Tiger talking to Pennsy: "You wanna know how I deal with it? Pissing on David Beatty's tombstone helps alot."

This to me sounded like Pennsylvania's finally breaking. It will definitely be a long and extremely rough road, but I think Ari will help her sister heal. Now that it seems to be sinking in that Arizona is alive and well, something might happen for the better. Maybe Pennsy would qualify for a service dog to help with her extreme PTSD? Looking into the kind, soulful eyes of a golden retriever is cathartic for just about anyone.

Possibly San Fransisco, since she friendly-fired Atlanta off Guadacanal in that brutal pitchblack night slugging match with Hiei's attack force. I'd imagine that weighs heavily upon her, and it's notable that she's as scarred as Arizona is. Different circumstances than Pearl Harbor, but a lot of trauma there. Prinz Eugen was present when Hood blew up, albeit on the other side of the battle. The Japanese I'm sure have a few who watched a comrade or sister blow up and sink but for obvious reasons they are a poor choice to deal with Pennsy.

Frisco's a superb choice for someone with severe PTSD, though. She was there at Pearl and then off Guadacanal watched Laffey blow up and sink with heavy loss of life, shot into Atlanta accidentally to contribute to her sinking, contributed to her sinking, and got herself pretty battered in that melee. Then during the disengagement, she watched Juneau take a submarine torpedo and sink, and was ordered to withdraw and leave the men in the water because of the risk of a follow-up attack. Finally, Frisco's summoned and part of the task force, and presumably she and Pennsy were at least acquaintances from serving in the same fleet.

The problem with Frisco- and I really really really wish this weren't even a consideration -is that she's Nisei. Not the same as actually being Japanese (as in, a proper Japanese warship), but with the state of mind Pennsy is in...

ie, not even recognizing her own sister

...it may not work well.

Pennsy might find a kindred spirit in Nevada, if she's ever summoned. For some reason, I don't think Nevada would be like Pennsy (i.e., completely consumed with revenge); Nevada got away from the Pacific for awhile and served in the Atlantic (IIRC, she helped bombard Omaha Beach on D-Day). Nevada could provide a different perspective, while at the same time sharing Pennsy's pain of watching her only sister die (she lost Okie at Pearl Harbor).

It's best to have both actually and Pennsy needs it. It's impossible to blame her for this.

That could possibly work. But on the other hand, Pennsy may view the move for the exile it effectively is, which would go against the intended purpose of helping her mental state.

What she needs in extensive counselling and support from, experts, friends and family. All of it.
True, but first she has to want that support. Other complications to this plan: She hasn't made many friends yet with her issues, and her family/sister spends a lot of her time being around Pennsy's issues. =\

By friends here i was meaning other USN ships that she can relate with, but yeah now that i think about it, for the moment none of the USN shipgirls that can be possibly relate to her have been summoned yet, and you're right, she hasn't made friends (which is understandable, given her issues). And Ari is doing the best she can as a member of the family and as her sister, but it's still not enough as Ari has her own issues to deal with, though she is getting better. What Pennsy needs is an extended family, a stable one that can guide her and support her, and just like the aforementioned "friends" issue this is also in critically short supply. And of course, lots of counselling to go along with the family help that'll help her get out of that funk, even if she somewhat doesn't want too.

The best was is what @MagisterAurelius suggester, pair her up with the Tiger by swapping her with Haruna.
