Yeah, KQC is a lot of 4chan being 4chan, and thus people do even stupider things in quests than we do, as well as being nowhere near as safe to read at work, school, or anywhere people might see you. There's also Deep Emotional Issues, which get really tiresome after a few thousand words, as well as what is in my opinion literally the most Wangsty "Baaaaaaw my life is terrible" thing ever, with the added bonus of making no sense whatsoever and feeling like added drama for drama's sake.
The battle scenes are good, as they seem pretty close to real naval battles.

Don't worry I've read some truely amazing shit dribbles masquerading as fanfiction and even standard fiction. I've developed the ability to read through the worst and still get an idea of what it is trying to say. Hell there has been some fics out there that have been tear my eyes out, soak my brain in bleach bad from a technical standpoint but have had a good story.
Fortunately BelBat is good both from a technical and idea standpoint.

KCQ was first story that started trend of Kongous being batshit insane and flanderized caricature of themself on SB/SV
To be fair, in KanColle fics there's a line between the spoopy-shit and the fluffy stuff. One of the big themes in KCQ is what combat does to a person, and a lot of the spoopy shite is a side effect of all that combat. Look at the Naka/Harder stuff, and tell me that doesn't look like a pair of scarred soldiers trying to get on with life.
As for Kongou specifically? Well, pressure builds. Even here, which is one of the best Kongou representations in KC fic, the britbong is still a few DP guns short of a secondary battery. She'll work her way into sanity- after the conditionals are met. For example, snagging herself a Admiral's Pennant.
