Ascensions and Transgressions: the Tales of Keris Dulmeadokht (Exalted game)

Oh god he would start stalking any Infernals who started going down the Pantheon Heresy Charmset, wouldn't he?

One of the many ways that Infernals are more like nega-Sidereals than Solars is that their "default" story involves a lot of "handling my bosses, who are assholes and many of them don't want what I want".

And Keris has essentially declared for certain Unquestionable in the power games of Hell, which means she's made an enemy of several Unquestionable just by default [1]. That's even before she starts doing things like "flaunting that she's grown her own souls", which means she starts drawing the attention of Unquestionable like Khereon Ul and Iudiavissse (though for very different reasons).

[1] Like Ululaya, who as an old foe of Ligier is rather put out with Keris siding with him and will deploy her ~uguu~ and ~kawaii~ to oppose Keris. As a Kimberyian soul, she's always felt "moeblob" to be a compliment. You know who else are blobs? Shoggoths, that's who.

Hmmm...as a question, what is the relationship between Keris's Enlightenment and her subordinate souls Enlightenment. I mean they are theoretically sort of third circle Demond, with subordinate souls of their own. Keris's isn't even E10 yet though, let alone ENA. and if they do improve their own spiritual growth what would the effect be in her tiger empire? I assume their 'direction' would start pushing more aggressively against their neighbors, like the swamp extending outward...

Entirely depends on what Charms she has.

When they're mechanically 2CDs, then they'll have 2CD-ballpark values. When they're mechanically 3CDs, they'll have mechanically 3CD-ballpark values (non-fetich, so 9 tops).

(They also play by 3CD-rules, which makes them 3CD-hard to summon, keeping everything balanced with a Solar Adamant Circle Sorcerer - it's just that the Infernal has a few 3CDs that are less hostile to them. Though still liable to go off and do their own thing, because the Infernal cannot bind their own souls. Solars get 3CDs that are more controllable and do what you want them to, Infernal Heretics get 3CDs that are more well-inclined to them and don't hate them for locking them up in Hell. So in Keris' case, for example, Haneyl will be a greedy empress and Keris can't stop her from trying to conquer places unless she can persuade her otherwise, but if Keris summons her to terraform an island into a new colony then she'll be all "Yes, of course mother, we will rule over this place!" and only occasionally get distracted by sending floating vegetation islands to eat ships and bring the treasure back to her.)

aaaaaaaand it's that time again~ Another two-part!

@Aleph needs to hurry up and get the rest of these moved over to here :V
[5:41 PM] Rook: Now them PART THE EIGHT
[5:41 PM] Rook: Da
[5:41 PM] Aleph: Ah yes
[5:41 PM] Aleph: Then Part Eight
[5:41 PM] Aleph: Which I still giggle at the start of
[5:41 PM] Aleph: snicker
[5:41 PM] Aleph: "Keris is woken the next morning by the sounds of the market and what sounds like forty roosters all choosing to crow together. Snarling a creative trilingual oath against obnoxious cocks, she throws a pillow in the vague direction of the window and snuggles further into Sasi's chest."
[5:41 PM] Rook: "creative trilinguial oath" keris reminds me of me lol
[5:41 PM] Aleph: so proud of that line
[5:42 PM] Aleph: "against obnoxious cocks"
[5:42 PM] Aleph: : V
[5:42 PM] Rook: lol
[5:42 PM] Rook: baaaaaaath
[5:42 PM] Rook: and now mappage

[5:43 PM] Aleph: Amusingly, Keris can't Beckon them
[5:43 PM] Rook: gnaaaaaarfle
[5:43 PM] Aleph: Sasi is not a morning person.
[5:44 PM] Rook: the white chalky stuff
[5:44 PM] Rook: such a way with words

[5:45 PM] Rook: Those spooky things
[5:45 PM] Aleph: Giant jewelled wasps, yes.
[5:45 PM] Rook: Or am I remembering wrong
[5:45 PM] Rook: aaaaaaaaAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAA
[5:45 PM] Aleph: Which, incidentally
[5:45 PM] Aleph: Keris hates
[5:45 PM] Rook: THIS IS GOOD
[5:45 PM] Aleph: Ah, but can you guess why?
[5:45 PM] Rook: Because she has the good sense to hate wasps in all forms?
[5:45 PM] Rook: :V
[5:45 PM] Aleph: No.
[5:46 PM] Aleph: Consider the size of a bee, or fly.
[5:46 PM] Aleph: Yes?
[5:46 PM] Rook: Mhm?
[5:46 PM] Aleph: Now consider how loud its wings are.
[5:46 PM] Rook: ... oooohhh man
[5:46 PM] Rook: Those things must make Keris want to scream
[5:46 PM] Aleph: Agatae sound like helicopters.
[5:46 PM] Aleph: There is a reason she rides her anyaglo instead.(edited)
[5:46 PM] Rook: Sasi has been edumucating herself!
[5:47 PM] Rook: PRESENT
[5:47 PM] Aleph: I love this bit
[5:47 PM] Aleph: because it basically shows off the different paradigms

[5:49 PM] Rook: GOLD MINES IN YOUR ACTUAL SOUL SASI
[5:49 PM] Aleph: Look, this is Keris.
[5:49 PM] Aleph: Are you surprised she freaked out at the concept?
[5:49 PM] Rook: No! :D
[5:50 PM] Aleph: ... amusingly, current-game Keris probably /does/ have gold mines in her actual soul.
[5:50 PM] Rook: lol
[5:50 PM] Rook: Shy little girl and a bossy brat.
[5:50 PM] Aleph: : V

Lawkeeper: conjures glass walls to stop her
Sasi: "... ... ???"
[5:51 PM] Rook: Keris with a surprising amount of tact
[5:51 PM] Aleph: I was surprised too
[5:52 PM] Rook: Drug burning operation~
[5:52 PM] Aleph: Sasi is a monster.
[5:52 PM] Aleph: Seriously.
[5:52 PM] Aleph: These are /mortal smugglers/.
[5:52 PM] Aleph: And she's siccing a bored Keris on them.
[5:52 PM] Rook: Yyyyeah...
[5:52 PM] Aleph: This probably violates some sort of human rights treaty.
[5:53 PM] Rook: bored keris is bored
[5:53 PM] Rook: this is never good for life expectancy in a general area
[5:53 PM] Rook: aaand BWOOSH

[5:54 PM] Rook: KERIS PLS
[5:54 PM] Aleph: Keris sits up on a rooftop with her hands over her ears to shut out a lot of the noise and watches the building burn with a grin on her face.

[5:59 PM] Rook: hee keris and sasi
[5:59 PM] Aleph: so cute
[6:00 PM] Rook: iszangoool
[6:00 PM] Aleph: And here we see that Keris tends to think of Dulmea as a "normal" demon.
[6:00 PM] Rook: " little singing things made of metal crawl over and around them" o_o
[6:01 PM] Aleph: Demjen.
[6:01 PM] Aleph: They have these little familiars they make.
[6:01 PM] Aleph: To help them extract ore.
[6:02 PM] Rook: "almost a quarter of keris' normal speed" well gee it's almost like she's a freak of nature who travels obscenely fast
[6:02 PM] Aleph: Oh man
[6:03 PM] Aleph: did I leave the OOC chatter in for that bit?
[6:03 PM] Rook: yes :p

[6:05 PM] Rook: Did you really not expect that
[6:06 PM] Aleph: HE KEEPS GIVING ME EVIL NAVIGATION ROLLS
[6:06 PM] Aleph: "A few animals meet sudden and unexpected ends from snarling locks of hair that grab them from near the water's edge"
[6:06 PM] Aleph: keris is literally a horror movie
[6:06 PM] Rook: harvester keris lol
[6:07 PM] Rook: SWAN DIVE
[6:07 PM] Aleph: She is obnoxiously athletic.
[6:07 PM] Rook: d'aww rathan
[6:08 PM] Rook: Theocracy of the Jade-Souled eh
[6:09 PM] Rook: "Rathan giggles and squirms, clinging onto Keris with his hair and his clumsy arms. She sets off through the window, under the red moonlight of... of, uh, the baby she's carrying with her.

... that makes her head ache a bit."
[6:09 PM] Rook: fucking
[6:09 PM] Rook: I laughed hard
[6:09 PM] Aleph: : P
[6:10 PM] Aleph: Heh.
[6:10 PM] Rook: halls of hallowed stooone
[6:10 PM] Aleph: This may drive home how /fucking hard/ it is
[6:10 PM] Aleph: to do /anything/ in an area and keep it secret from Keris.
[6:11 PM] Rook: Yeah...
[6:11 PM] Aleph: She is a goddamn human radar dish.
[6:12 PM] Rook: ripples of power

[6:12 PM] Aleph: Keris is E8
[6:12 PM] Rook: ... at present in what I'm reading?
[6:12 PM] Aleph: Yup
[6:12 PM] Rook: I misremembered
[6:12 PM] Rook: @_@
[6:12 PM] Aleph: : P
[6:13 PM] Aleph: Solaroids start at E6 - their "Essence 1"
[6:13 PM] Aleph: Solars are scary.
[6:13 PM] Aleph: They're equal to a Second Circle demon fresh off the bat.
[6:13 PM] Aleph: And an experienced one like current Keris is a Third Circle peer.
[6:14 PM] Rook: Meldu, hm
[6:14 PM] Aleph: also hee
[6:14 PM] Aleph: Keris environmental bonuses
[6:14 PM] Aleph: No movement penalties in water
[6:14 PM] Aleph: no movement penalties in dense vegetation
[6:14 PM] Aleph: so useful~
[6:14 PM] Aleph: so much fun to fight people in
[6:14 PM] Aleph: Keris: the Predatoring.
[6:14 PM] Rook: "Keris recalls that Meldu is one of the souls - the Warden Soul, she thinks - of Iasestus, the Arbitrator of Doctrine. His title is the Enforcer of Thought, and he serves to ward those under his master's dominion from incorrect ideas. An androgynous being with black and white swirled skin, and only two fingers on each hand, he thrusts his hands into the heads of those who have ideas above their station and removes them - and much else besides that. His victims are left slow and simple, lacking volition or understanding. Meldu is a great fancier of cats and can often be distracted - or placated - by the gift of a pure black or pure white feline."
[6:14 PM] Rook: WELL THAT'S FREAKY
[6:14 PM] Aleph: Eh
[6:14 PM] Aleph: Second Circle demon.
[6:14 PM] Aleph: They're all a bit weird.
[6:15 PM] Rook: It is very easy to spook me with "HAHAHA I HAVE MY FINGERS IN YOUR HEAD" for some reason
[6:15 PM] Rook: I wonder what :U
[6:15 PM] Aleph: : P
[6:15 PM] Rook: ... interesting
[6:16 PM] Aleph: Keris does not have a lot of patience for Pyrian philosophy.
[6:16 PM] Aleph: ...
[6:16 PM] Rook: bland, stale, eh
[6:16 PM] Aleph: honestly, you can remove the last three words from that sentence.
[6:16 PM] Rook: yup yeah yup checks out
[6:16 PM] Aleph: : P
[6:16 PM] Rook: game is drawing to a clooose
[6:17 PM] Rook: [REDACTED]
[6:17 PM] Aleph: That's how the demon can remove thoughts from people.
[6:18 PM] Rook: demonic text sent
[6:18 PM] Rook: and THE SNEAKIES BEGIN
[6:18 PM] Aleph: FFFFFFFFFFFFFFFFFFFFF-
[6:18 PM] Rook: Ahahahahahaha
[6:19 PM] Aleph: "Maybe if it finds her she can pretend she was just a mortal who was asleep? Actually wait, no, a mortal wouldn't be able to hear it even if they were awake. Though then it might try to put its hand in her head and she'd have to cut its arm off, which would probably give the game away somewhat."
[6:19 PM] Aleph: Oh, Keris.
[6:19 PM] Aleph: I do like the frequent hints that she never really feels scared.
[6:19 PM] Rook: "Oh," Dulmea says, archly. "I thought it was sunbathing."
[6:19 PM] Aleph: Not for her safety, anyway.
[6:19 PM] Rook: lol
[6:19 PM] Aleph: dulmea-mama is harsh : (
[6:20 PM] Aleph: But yeah, she's scared here that it might attack her /and then she'd have to cut its arm off and that would cause trouble/.
[6:20 PM] Aleph: She takes the "I could cut its arm off and kill it" as a given.
[6:20 PM] Aleph: Arrogant little thing.
[6:20 PM] Rook: Keris doesn't even really worry anything can hurt her, physically, much less pose a threat to her life.
[6:20 PM] Aleph: : P
[6:20 PM] Aleph: Well(edited)
[6:20 PM] Aleph: She /very rarely/ does.
[6:21 PM] Aleph: There are a few things that can genuinely scare her.
[6:21 PM] Aleph: But it's a very small group.
[6:21 PM] Rook: Mm.
[6:21 PM] Rook: >"You win," she concedes, in Meldu's general direction. "Though I'm not sure if getting him to help counts as cheating or not. And technically the cat noticed me, not you."
[6:21 PM] Rook: lmao
[6:21 PM] Aleph: ARROGANT LITTLE THING
[6:22 PM] Aleph: Deveh instantly forms a Principle of "Keris Dulmeadokht (Annoying)"
[6:22 PM] Aleph: It will never go away.
[6:22 PM] Aleph: She is fractally annoying.
[6:22 PM] Aleph: Every time he looks more closely at some part of her that annoys him
[6:22 PM] Aleph: he finds more things that annoy him.
[6:22 PM] Rook: >You may tell Nemone's scion that everything is going according to the scenario
[6:22 PM] Rook: THE SCENARIO
[6:23 PM] Aleph: she's like a russian doll where every smaller, inner doll is more irritating than the one it was inside
[6:23 PM] Aleph: except they go on forever
[6:23 PM] Rook: lol
[6:23 PM] Rook: the term is matryoshka
[6:23 PM] Aleph: I just love how irritating she is to him without even trying.
[6:23 PM] Aleph: : D
[6:23 PM] Rook: It's pretty fantastic ^_^
[6:24 PM] Rook: THE PLOT THICKENS
[6:24 PM] Rook: And that be part the nine.
[6:24 PM] Rook: ^_^

From One, Many - Chapter 4
And following up on that, From One, Many part 4 is out. In which Keris finally completes her ring of souls, and also comes clean about her Tiger Empire to... the somewhat anticlimactic response of Lilunu going "yup, sounds normal". So that's nice.

So, we now have Keris's Tenth Soul; Zanara!

So Zanara probably underwent the most shift of all of Keris's souls in the planning. They come from Pelagic Muse Artistry, and have also absorbed Keris's Kimmy "trader/diplomat" tree, meaning they are very persuasive but also have a thing for art - especially maddening or mutative art. Originally they were Zanra, and a single genderfluid entity, but then we hit on the idea of them taking the "split nature" that Calesco and Haneyl both show even further - literally having two bodies. Thematically, they are the Artist (the girl born from Dulmea who was the subject of the madness-infused painting Keris birthed them from), and the Art (the boy born from Keris who was the madness-infused painting Keris birthed them from). Their siblings will come to call these "Zana" and "Nara" respectively, because although they share a single mind and memory, they act in different ways.

They aren't always female and male respectively, but those are their most common gender states. Obviously they can both casually mutate themselves and, as Haneyl has noted, the girl looks a little like her. This is because Zana is, under all the mutations, aesthetically the daughter of Dulmea and Lilunu, while Nara is another son of Keris and Rat - under lots and lots of mutations. That body tends to have more of them.

And as you've probably noticed, right now Zanara is still a baby and so they aren't very good at controlling their bodies, and can't do two things at once. As a result, they basically focus their attention in one body while the other copies its movements - which means that yes, they will occasionally do things like crawl into trees because they wanted to look at a bug and weren't paying attention to where the other body was.

And also extras:
Aleph: Keris needs to meet with Lilunu and get her help with the project. And also come clean to her about a few more things.
EarthScorpion: Yes. So, hmm. Keris is providing one Season, Lilunu is providing one season, and Keris has acquired significant help from Orabilis so she gets two Seasons of contribution from him from assistance and him tasking his own sorcerers to help her.
EarthScorpion: So as long as everyone passes their rolls, she'll get it done in one season with four man-seasons
Aleph: mwaa haa
Aleph: And Keris is also getting some help from HANEYL AND RATHAN AND DULMEA, WHEEEE~ that she can use as a backup season of work.
EarthScorpion: Alas, Haneyl will be busy being onee-sama
Aleph: Oh, true. And castle-building.

...

<post Tiger Empire reveal>
Aleph: Hmm. So, what else is there to do? Anything important before Keris moves onto art natter and then goes back to do some painting at her place?
EarthScorpion: I don't think so. Lilunu's agreed to help Keris, and while she's not a sorceress - which was something you were assuming - she's the spirit who Keris is going to be basing the coadjutor process on, so Keris can study elements of her natural powers while trying not to piss off Orabilis by learning too much

...

EarthScorpion: So what are you learning/buying here?
Aleph: Pelagic Muse Artistry, to get Zanara.
Aleph: ... crap, now I have to write the Isles up. ¬_¬
EarthScorpion: : P
EarthScorpion: Heh. Dulmea has had it up to here with childbirth, and she's not doing that again.
Aleph: : P
EarthScorpion: Adoption is quite fine, thank you very much.
Aleph: Nah. She does still teach form to various akuma-children. But from now on she's using the Pavilion's external genesis-womb to do it.
Aleph: Oh, and I also bought the agyakeruby. Yay, the Kerisian keruby lines all exist!

Heh, I'm laughing at poor Haneyl falling into the water. That was amusing. So now we have 9 souls for Keris, which is interesting. So the Isles popped up between the Sea's that Rathan presides over and Haneyl's swamp.

I do like the 'Blank Canvas' aspect of the write up of them in the Tiger Empire file. Sounds interesting there. Also noticed that the spires have regenerating mineral wealth which is...interesting.

Lineu just shrugs Keris's concerns off with a shrug...but the question then becomes is this because it IS expected or is she keeping the development of her 'children' a secret from the other Unquestionable. And heh at the Green Sun Prince who took so much of Malfeas into himself that he is growing into a city and has to prune it off.

You know, I just noticed something: half the keruby breeds have no specified dance effects. I have no idea what kind of disaster a crowd of dancing agayakeruby would cause.

I assume that if they danced, we would get a 'Art Storm' like is written up in the description of 'The isles'.

The Isles

Shallow seas wash back and forth above white sands amidst the Isles of Krisity. The water here is crystal-clear, and low islands of white stone rise above the gentle waves. The landscape is a blank canvas speckled with spots of vivid colour; bright opals hidden in the marble and chalk, vivid dragonflies buzzing above the water's surface and braided seagrass infused with potent dyes. The cold chill of the Sea recedes into a calm, stable, moderate climate, and aquatic plants grow snow-white with technicolour flowers. This is not to say that the weather is safe - the gentle equilibrium is punctuated by frenzied typhoons that sweep over the land and change it utterly. These artstorms warp anything caught in their fury, and so Isle structures are rarely made for the long term - merely built and rebuilt every time an artstorm strikes.

These artstorms sweep in from the Far Isles. In this turbulent region, close the Edge, chaos reigns in the sky and the land warps and shifts each day. The denizens of these crags cling desperately to their identities as their flesh is pulled this way and that, cowering away from terrible omen weather, and rains of comets with multi-coloured tails. Close to the City, the suburbs are built on white stone and connected by ramshackle bridges and rafts made from flotsam and driftwood. A market flourishes there, a bustling centre of trade in the arts where gourmet dishes are bartered for paintings alongside woven tapestries and tattooist's stalls. Even the environment around the Islemarket is an artist; stones from the seabed are shaped into miniature sculptures by the sands and lengths of seaweed are stained with swirling colours.

Where the water deepens into the Sea proper, coral reefs thrive between the white stone islands. The fields of sargasso and jutting reefs offer plentiful protection from both naval and outlaw ships for those that make a home there, and is a thriving den of vice much-frequented pirates and ne'er-do-wells who seek to avoid the harsh law of the Sea. The islands grow larger along the border with the Swamp, and dense mangrove swamps make it difficult to tell the difference between seabed channels and tidal rivers. Cool water is pulled upriver and drunk ravenously by snarling waterplants, and many fine chefs sail mobile restaurant-ships that scull over thriving lagoons of fauna and flora.

So a lot of dancing agyakeruby would have reality running like wet paint.

Keruby mechanics, yo. The agyakeruby do indeed mutate people, and the various other breeds have various other effects. Several of them are actually pending rewrite in a bunch of small ways, as we're trying to balance them all at "about as useful as a sziromkerub" - for instance, szelkeruby can staunch wounds by licking them and mezkeruby can track things down for you with their scrying.

Oh yeah, and how do people like the writeup of the Tiger Empire and the six Directions? I might change the City a bit, since by now it's probably an even blend of materials from all six Directions, but the outer lands are all written up in a nice consistent format ([centre and general aesthetics], [far and near regions], [clockwise and spinwise borders]).

Heh, I'm laughing at poor Haneyl falling into the water. That was amusing. So now we have 9 souls for Keris, which is interesting. So the Isles popped up between the Sea's that Rathan presides over and Haneyl's swamp.

Haneyl wants so desperately to be a cool, controlled, respected little princess.

She is not very good at this, and so her failures and the bits that show her off as a hothead are funny. It is something quite telling about Keris as a whole that her self-improvement soul is so painfully nouveau riche. :D

So now we have 9 souls for Keris, which is interesting.
Yes. Specifically, we have:

Core Souls
Keris (Ego)
Pekhijira (Id)
Dulmea (Superego)

Progeny Souls
Echo (Joy)
Rathan (Payback)
Haneyl (Greed)
Calesco (Conscience)
Vali (Stubbornness)
Zanara (Creativity)

Obviously they're all a bit more complex than those one-word summaries, but if you're modelling Keris-the-Primordial, those would be a pretty good breakdown of what roles they serve in the overall entity.

Speaking of 'Keris the Primordial', or rather her souls. I've never been really clear on this. Once her souls are mature enough and she has the required Sorcery skills to summon them...can the souls bring their landscape forms with them? That is, say if Rathem manifested in the demon city, would there be a new red moon? I think I remember the answer, at least in core, is no for third circle demons (aka if you summon Ligar the green sun is still in Malfeasance) but what about Keris's souls?

Last edited:
No. Their landscape forms will generally stay in Krisity, even when they're Third Circles. Unless they're like Munaxes, where the body you summon is her chasm-form.

Finally finished reading through just about everything, Kerisgame is amazing.

Questions!

Do records of the pre-An-Teng stuff not exist? Or are they just in an awkward format that makes them not worth the effort of sharing?

Keris and her souls and Sasi and everything are very cute. This wasn't a question I realise.

I'm...not really sure I'm getting the Tiger Empire stuff because, well... I think I get the pantheon souls stuff, that seems simple enough. But I don't see how it fits with Titanic Heart Overweening, because from my reading of that charm it seems to create and spontaneously summon a Free-floating 2CD. Which doesn't make sense? You can't have a free floating 2CD since they're by definition something else's soul. And I thought the Pantheon Souls were 3CDs, so you couldn't summon any 2CD till they started budding them. And then there's the next titanic heart charm which upgrades 2CD into 3CD and again, I was confused there because aren't the pantheon souls Keris' 3CD already?

I suspect there's something obvious I'm missing here and I've taken the wrong turn somewhere and am misinterpreting something.

Keris' souls are currently just mechanics-less representations of her Pantheon-keyworded Charms. Echo for example is literally just Silence In Her Wake as a character.

They are also based on some of Keris' Principles, and when she learns the Second Circle Demon Charm, they will be upgraded into that and become summonable. When she gets the Third Circle Demon Charm, they will turn into 3rd Circles and each spawn 7 Second Circles. All of which will be summonable, though the Third Circles won't be bindable.

Titanic Heart Overweening creates... souls of you, basically. They're 2CD-level initially, and the expansion Charm elevates them to 3CD-level. Keris' souls aren't summonable yet because, IIRC, Aleph actually hasn't taken Titanic Heart Overweening yet. :V

Pretty much this- @Aleph and @EarthScorpion are handling things this way instead of waiting for Keris to take Titanic Heart Overweening because it's essentially a solo game- the way @Aleph's described it to me is that Keris' souls are basically the other 'party members', providing constant character interaction for Keris with familiar characters. In a non-solo game, either you'd wait until your Infernal took Titanic Heart Overweening, or the player could simply develop the budding sentience of their character's souls through sidescenes and the like that they player writes in their own time.

Do records of the pre-An-Teng stuff not exist? Or are they just in an awkward format that makes them not worth the effort of sharing?

Super awkward format. The early stuff was all written in first person, there's been quite a bit of back-end mechanic adjustment, and the quality was notably lower.

Okay, so here's the thing about Titanic Heart Overweening.

It's Demon of the Second Circle mechanically in almost all ways.

Basically, what it lets you do is turn one of your 4+ dot Principles / your Intimacies into something that's mechanically a 2CD on the night of the new moon. Once you've done that, it's a 2CD mechanically even though what it is is one of your souls.

Then the later charm you can take at Essence 5 lets you, on Calibration, turn one of your 2CD-level souls into a 3CD-level demon. And since it's a 3CD-level demon, it spawns 2CD. Mechanically, an Infernal who goes into my soul stuff is basically using a reskinned version of everyone else's demon summoning - it's just they get their own demons.

Pantheon souls are just... well, okay, they really don't have much mechanical implementation. Basically, the idea is that a Pantheon soul gets to have a few Infernal Charms as part of its Panoply. It makes them a little more potent, and gives them a secondary theme beyond the Intimacy. Echo, for example, would be radically different if she was just linked to "Joy", rather than being "Joy + Silence In Her Wake".

(In an earlier rules draft, Pantheon was basically a form of Titanic Heart Overweening - each Pantheon Charm you got let you externalise one soul. This turned out, when I thought about it, to encourage too many Infernals to basically look the same, because of course you wanted to grab Pantheon Charms to get a new demon, so it incentivised non-constructive behaviour because it meant that every Infernal would run to get Pantheon trees. Now it's a bit of a rules relic.)

Finally finished reading through just about everything, Kerisgame is amazing.

Questions!
I'm glad you like it! Shoot!
Do records of the pre-An-Teng stuff not exist? Or are they just in an awkward format that makes them not worth the effort of sharing?
They exist, yes. There were three arcs prior to An Teng; A Street Rat Reborn, Death Comes to Matasque and Vengeance Served Cold. However, all the sessions up to RAW 30 - about halfway through Death Comes to Matasque - are written in first person, and fixing them would be a titanic fucking pain. The 16-session Vengeance Served Cold arc may, at some point, go up as a prequel story in which Keris and Sasi accidentally'd a whole Nexus. If I can be bothered. We will see.

For those interested in how the two match up, Part 1 of the published logs is RAW session 57.

The souls created by Titanic Heart Overweening - and indeed the insensate foetal souls budded by Pantheon Charms - are indeed Third Circle demons.

However, they are ickle baby Third Circles, and are thus when you use Titanic Heart Overweening to give them form, they are mechanically represented as Second Circle demons until you get the upgrade Charm to boost them to full 3CD tier and let them spawn their own souls. Since Keris does not yet have that, they are mechanically (very powerful) First Circles with Wyld Shaping in her Devil-Domain. Technically they shouldn't be conscious at all, but see @horngeek above.

Thus, from a metaphysical perspective, Keris has a bunch of Third Circles, but from a mechanical perspective, she does not. Yet. If someone looked at Haneyl or Rathan very, very hard with a bunch of essence equipment, they would probably be able to work out that they were baby Third Circles with enough successes on the role. And also that the Surrender Oaths didn't bind them. And then they would freak out because holy shit baby Third Circles not bound by the Surrender Oaths panic panic panic call the Sidereals help.

Edit: Okay, when I said "call the Sidereals" I did not mean "call @EarthScorpion to come in and sidereal me". Grrr. ¬_¬

Twilight: "So, uh, you know the chakra points?"

Gold Faction Sidereal: "I have heard of them."

Twilight: "You know there are seven of them?"

Sidereals: "Yes. The Primordials made man's chakra points in emulation of their own souls, who each have seven souls, for the seven chakra points define us and our feelings."

Twilight: "Yeah, so, funny story. A while ago I was around An Teng, and I met a really strange Second Circle demon. At least, that's what I thought she was. She was a cloud of wind and ribbons, and kept on challenging me to riddle contests done via mime because she was... well, she indicated she was bored and she'd heard that Twilights were super-smart and it'd be fun."

Sidereal: "And?"

Twilight: "It was quite fun, yes."

Sidereal: "That's not what I meant. What was weird?"

Twilight: "Well, I got to look at her chakra points because I won that off her. And she had seven of them. And they were very bright. And looked... uh, sort of like foetus-shaped."

Sidereal: "..."

Twilight: "And I wanted to know what that meant, sempai. Because you're so bright and you know everything! Do you like the new ribbons in my hair? She gave them to me, and leant me this little demon called a szelkerub to help me find my true love!"

Sidereal: "Gottogotoheavengottoreaduponsomethings!"

Speaking as someone who's brainstorming up a few souls for a planned Infernal character who's going to be delving into Pantheon Heresy, linking each soul to a Pantheon Charm also gives a nice, strong hook to design around. It's not mandatory, but I'd recommend it myself.

something something humbly volunteer to help something insert joke so i can laugh it off later something something.

This relationship will backfire.

It will.

On another note am I kind of excited for when we see other Exalts in the game, especially other Abyssals than Rat.

We have! Remember that asshole Abyssal who kept making necrotech back around the Buk Moi incident?

Keris still has a murder weapon with her name on it. >_>

Oh right I remember that asshole! Stupid necrotech Abyssals won't leave perfectly innocent Infernals alone...

I too support this.

By the way, what would be Oramus' Pantheon Charm?
