Wasn't the flint about to be forgotten?

You've used it recently, but the storms are blocking your route, so if they don't abate, you're in danger of losing the path due to it being too hard to find.

Of course, that is only a *may*. The storms can also end and you can start making your way there and back if so.
Well, the weather...

You managed to wake the Sun up in time so some people remembered where the Flint Outcrop was!
Yeah, that. That's totally what happened.

I may rework some mechanics there, honestly. The Flint Outcrop has managed to have an odd location in relation to my mechanics.

On discussion...

I'm seeing a lot of competing interests here. People may want to espouse the logic behind their votes a bit more. You all got over twenty-four hours to do so.

To restate, I'd rather either double up on be creative to improve our people's predilections toward improving things they have, or do be creative + craft tools or be creative + build rafts, so that the narrative supports our people improving the related technologies for them.

Wasn't the flint about to be forgotten?
The problem with building a camp there right now is that our population is so low and our culture so poor that I fear we'd end up just effectively creating another tribe with half our population rather than another settlement OF our tribe.

Stats:

Tools:
Some
Rafts: A Few

Culture: Very Little
Prestige: None
Population: Low
Authority: Low
-???
-Omnivore: Access to all types of food.
-Playful Fox: Bonus to social interactions.
A Better Way
When someone is forced between hard choices and a need to sacrifice something, it is because they have not found the correct trail on which to travel.
Pros: More options when facing a crises.
Cons: More things are considered a crises by your population.

Together
The world is mighty and its challenges great and numerous, perhaps even impossible. When working together and helping one another, those challenges become easier, more realistic, and possible.
Pros: Gain a bonus to actions based on population.
Cons: Population cap decreased.
Organization Type:
Primitive Despotic Tribe:
A form of government where there is one individual who the tribe all look to for jobs and chores to do. This individual does not have any tradition that gives them a leadership over the Tribe, but there is something about the culture that puts an immense amount of power in their hands to the point where there might as well be.

Leadership: Story Teller
Tools
-Advanced Stoneworking

Construction
-Early Tribal Shelters

Food
-Hunting and Gathering
-Fishing

Transportation
-Primitive Rafts

Spiritual
-Stone Seeing
-Primitive Singing
-Fishing Grounds
-Flint Outcrop (Extremely Distant)
Fish Bay: A large bay teeming with fish. It is the current location of your tribe.

Ocean Forest River: Said to be a great river that runs into the Ocean Forest, it is located extremely far from your camp and few foxes have seen it. There is also said to be a deposit of high quality stone there.

Ocean Forest: A large forest, seemingly sunk into the ocean, full of bugs and strange creatures. Also very hard to navigate.

The Mist: A distant white cloud along one shoreline, reminiscent of the crests of waves. It takes up much of the horizon and warm winds seem to come from this direction.

I feel like we've been stagnant for too long. Let's see if we can make something new.

In retrospect, I probably should have given a bit more to interact with, but things have been picking up, especially in one instance that you all seem to have simply looked over...

We'll see how the ai moves going forward, but none are doing significantly better than you, though one is doing significantly worse, second time in a row they've fractured this turn. Players are missing some key elements here, to advance and get some really interesting things done, but you have gotten a few other things in exchange for that.

Well, voting will be open for a couple hours or so more, but we seem to have a tie at the moment, if anyone wants to break it.

Edit: No Tiebreaker then, hmm...

Probably best if I just determine the winner with random chance, rather than try and do anything cute. To the dice!

1- Be Creative
2- Craft Tools

Raft Punk
A wall of water washed across Stormpaw's face as the rest of her body quickly followed, her fur singing with joy in the familiar embrace of cool water and the harsh, sharp sounds of the world turned into muffled echoes. She had entered another world. Her favorite world. One removed from the bickering and complaining of old vixens who always claimed to know what was best for her. Where she didn't have to spend days mindlessly whiling away at rocks to create yet even more tools.

They had enough tools, for Sun's sake. Try telling that to the crafters though.

A few moments later found her resting on her own personal raft, enjoying the sun's rays as they dried her fur. Beside her lay her spear, a couple of fish impaled on it for that evening's dinner and so that she could claim she did something. Fishing was hard work, you know?

Yeah, she didn't expect the crafters to buy that either. It was pretty obvious that the fishers' hard and grueling trips that took them out into the bay for long periods of time were actually just an excuse for many of them to get away from the camp for the day.

Chief among the places where they'd sneak off to was Fishers' Nook. A secret little inlet on the Mistside of the greater Fish Bay, that was shielded from Home Camp by a little peninsula with a small forest blocking the view. Several enterprising foxes had set up an impromptu camp site there even, complete with a fire pit for cooking any catch they had and cleared ground with a handful of hastily put together shacks that more than one fox was known to spend the night in.

None of the elder's liked it when a fox spent the night away from home camp, and on more than one occasion a vixen had demanded to know where their mate had run off to for the night. Of course, some of the more relaxed vixens actually knew where their mates went, despite not being crafters. It wasn't unheard of for them to spend the night at the camp even, which infuriated the elders even more.

A slosh of water roused Stormpaw from her nap, and she spied Dawnears putting off to the place in his joke of an oversized Wide Fish style raft. Really, why he built that, let alone insisted on using it she had no idea. The wide fish design already had a flaw of being slow, hard to maneuver, and easy to sink if you went in the wrong parts of the bay.

That he made it bigger, was just...

She supposed that shouldn't talk too much, using the Bush Tail design, but that at least had its uses. Fast and durable, even if it couldn't hold nearly as much of a catch as others, she could at least raft in it. And wasn't that the point in the end?

It was probably a testament to his skill that Dawnears had managed to not sink his raft after completing it several seasons ago. That or one could also attribute that to him never going off into the open ocean.

That, now that was a treat for any fox who dared to try and raft it.

The thrill of trying to ride your rafts on the waves was something that really couldn't be beat, or even properly described. Unfortunately, it had a tendency to wreck the rafts, even those built to handle it, so not many foxes actually tried.

Still, life was good and rafts were nice.

Life was not good at the moment for Flintpaw. When she had tasked the foxes to build extra rafts for the future and to provide easier fishing, she failed to take into account that there weren't any extra foxes to actually use those rafts. So when some of the vixens decided to take up fishing, as opposed to crafting, no one really complained at first. It meant extra food, after all, and that would help them safely grow.

Unfortunately now most of the tribe spent its time out on the water, and they were becoming increasingly aloof and hard to control. She really needed to figure out a way to either wreck the rafts or otherwise keep the fishers in line before this got out of paw...

[][Rafts] Encourage them to push their rafts to the limit in the open water
[][Rafts] Turn their 'secret camp' into an actual proper camp
[][Rafts] Ask them to explore the hard to navigate Ocean Forest

Hint: When stats reach beyond their current cap, they will generate events unless you have a sophisticated enough society to automatically resolve the issue.

QM/Note: Well, this update kicked my ass. I do think this is in part a question of my standards rising, though. It also gave me some ideas into further research to make updates kick my ass less. Hopefully that will work out.

Also, congratulations, you've found a new mechanic!

[X][Rafts] Ask them to explore the hard to navigate Ocean Forest

We need to do this to get to the Flint deposit with much greater ease. Once we have mastered travelling through the Ocean forest and maybe made canoes or something we can then establish a camp there and finally have easy tool access! :D

We preferably want to go for the larger, sturdier deep-water craft, which are much more beneficial both in direct use and run off techs developed from them. Which means encouraging ocean rafting for now.
correct, but they also take much longer to innovate, much more effort to build, are worthless towards getting our flint, require METAL to make the ones worth a damn, and finally are easier to innovate once you have the baseline of 'flat craft are bad better to build craft that is like a bowl'.

overall we are better focusing on tool innovations for now as it actually gets us somewhere whereas ocean innovations do little to nothing for us as a civilization in terms of protection, population, or industry. Whereas tool innovations should eventually lead to metal which makes us a better civ in every way.
